On the big screen, in response to Lin Nan's question, Guanyin Bodhisattva replied: "I am a Bodhisattva of Buddhism."

This answer seemed to be fine, but some people quietly clenched their fists, their hearts filled with dissatisfaction and anger.

The next moment, Guanyin Bodhisattva asked in return: "Whose disciple and successor are you, Taoist priest?"

The people stared at the curtain, waiting for Lin Nan's answer. Lin Nan held his head high and answered firmly, "I am the successor of the Taoist sect, the Grand Master of Chechi, and a Taoist friend to all people."

"Okay!"

"Wonderful!"

Seeing Lin Nan's answer, some people in front of the curtain couldn't help but cheer loudly!

"As expected of a great master!"

"Bodhisattva is only a Buddhist Bodhisattva, not our Bodhisattva. But the Grand Master is the Grand Master of our people!"

Bang! At the scene, someone slapped himself hard in the face and said with regret: "I was really blind and greedy. I even burned incense for the Buddha in the temple and forgot the kindness of the great master."

This sentence was thought-provoking and instantly calmed the originally noisy atmosphere.

Soon, others began to express their shame: "I too, listened to the monk's words and entered the temple to worship as if I were possessed."

"We are unworthy of being human! The Grand Master is sincere and kind, but the Bodhisattva raises demons to eat people. We still come to worship the Bodhisattva. We are worse than pigs and dogs!"

For a time, there was a trend of "self-analysis" and self-criticism. These people were regretting their past blindness and ignorance.

The scene continued to flow on the screen. The Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara did not say much, but just waved her hand gently, and a stream of golden light fell down.

The golden light was dazzling, as if it contained infinite power.

On the screen, the people who had originally stopped to watch seemed to have collective amnesia. After a moment, no one remembered that they had witnessed the appearance of Guanyin Bodhisattva.

After this scene ended, the curtain slowly fell, and everything was dark. The six-eared macaque easily put it away.

He didn't say much, but just left a sentence lightly: "At this time tomorrow, there will be another performance here."

After saying this, the six-eared macaque leaped up and somersaulted, then disappeared without a trace in front of everyone, causing exclamations from those around him.

The exclamations gradually died down, but the people did not disperse. They gathered together, their faces full of shock, and they seemed to have thousands of words in their hearts.

Silence, a long silence enveloped the group of people.

In the end, their behavior was surprisingly consistent—with a bit of silence and disgust, they walked slowly around the Buddhist temple, but no one went into the temple to listen to the sutras. They talked a lot as they walked, and their words revealed their expectations for tomorrow.

"You have to come again tomorrow!"

"That Guanyin Bodhisattva is really abominable."

"Our great master is still the best!"

"We have to call everyone in the family over tomorrow to take a look together!"

The people's voices were so unified that it seemed as if an invisible force was binding them together.

……

The same scene was happening in other places in Chechi Kingdom.

On this day, such scenes occurred everywhere there were Buddhist temples on the outskirts of Chechi State.

The six-eared macaque shuttled back and forth among the people, transforming himself into a film projectionist and constantly playing these films for the people.

And every time it is broadcast, it triggers wave after wave of self-reflection among the people.

Apart from showing the movie and the final trailer, Liu'er Mihou remained silent the entire time, without any extra movements or words.

However, it is this silence that touches the people's hearts even more deeply, and makes them feel guilty.

In the blink of an eye, the next day arrived.

In the borderlands of Chechi Country, many of the pioneers looked very different today. They seemed absent-minded when working, but on the contrary, they were full of energy when chatting.

In a village, a farmer said mysteriously to another strong farmer: "Have you heard? Something big happened at the temple yesterday!"

"Don't tell me that. I don't want to know about the temple." The sturdy farmer responded with disdain, "Those people are really worthless. They eat potatoes and go to the temple to listen to sutras. If we were closer to the capital, the abbot of the temple would definitely be demoted to hard labor."

"They don't work, accept offerings from others, and even require believers to be sincere... I look down on them." The sturdy farmer continued, his tone full of disdain.

Compared to those who go to temples, most people in Chechi have a much stronger belief in Taoism. They look down on those who go to temples and don't want to go to temples at all.

"Oh, I know I was wrong!" The farmer who brought up the topic was ashamed, but after he got over his shame, he continued, "Now I understand that Buddhism is not a good place. Even Guanyin Bodhisattva has blemishes. The Great Master is still the best."

"Oh? Why do you say that?" The sturdy farmer looked confused.

The farmer who had brought up the topic immediately became excited and described it with great excitement: "Yesterday, next to the temple, a disciple of the great master appeared. He had a hairy face and a thunder god's mouth, and looked very majestic. He also performed magical spells. In those spells, he performed scenes that were very lifelike, not only with realistic scenes, but also with sounds!"

"What did he perform?" the sturdy farmer asked impatiently.

"He performed the great master's feat of beheading the goldfish spirit with a sword! Did you know that the goldfish spirit actually has an astonishing origin..."

Similar conversations were constantly played out in the border areas of Chechi State, and spread among groups of pioneers. They spread the scenes that happened next to the temple and informed each other that at the same time today, the disciples of the great master would come again and perform the magical spell called "projection".

……

On that day, a large number of people gathered at the gates of many temples in Chechi Bianhuang. However, these people did not enter the temples, but lined up neatly outside the temples.

"Reached?"

"Is it coming soon? It should be soon, right?"

"It should be soon, just wait a little longer." "I want to see if the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara is really that scary, raising a demon that feeds on young boys and girls!"

"Humph, I will never set foot in a temple again!"

"The Great Master is still the best!"

The people were talking and talking. Inside the temple, some monks who were the incarnations of Lingshan Arhats or Venerables could only chant but could not take any action against the people. Because they knew that once they did that, the nature of the matter would change. They could only watch the scene outside the temple.

"Here they come!" Suddenly, there was a commotion among the crowd.

The people looked forward and saw a figure descending from the sky. He was wearing a Taoist robe and a Taoist hat, but his appearance was extremely strange, with a hairy face and a thunder god mouth, like a monkey face.

"This... looks really strange!" Some people who saw the six-eared macaque for the first time couldn't help but exclaimed in a low voice.

"As expected of a disciple of the great master, he is indeed different from others." People regarded the appearance of the six-eared macaque as strange, different from ordinary people, and took it for granted.

"Quiet." Liu'er Mihou looked at the bustling people in front of him and said in a deep voice.

"I am the eldest disciple of the great master Lin Nan. My surname is Yuan and my name is Renxin." He spoke slowly, "Today, I came here to show you a scene that happened in Chang'an City. This incident can be called "The Jinghe Dragon King is trapped"."

As Liu'er Mihou finished speaking, there was a commotion among the crowd of people.

"Why is it 'The Dragon King of Jinghe is trapped'? Isn't it 'The Great Master Kills the Goldfish Spirit with His Sword'?"

"Yes, what is this "The Trap of the Dragon King of Jinghe"? Is there a great master in it?"

Liu'er Mihou ignored people's comments and started the screening with a wave of his hand.

This time, the story begins when Lin Nan steps into Chang'an City and Little White Dragon Ao Yu goes to Jinghe to visit his relatives. The story slowly unfolds from Lin Nan's perspective, and the experiences of the Dragon King of Jinghe, his request for help from Lin Nan, and the arrogant "Fortune Master Yuan Shoucheng" are all presented on the screen.

The people were soon immersed in this ups and downs story, holding their breath and concentrating, afraid of missing any details.

The story continues to advance. When Lin Nan and the fortune teller confronted each other on the streets of Chang'an City, and Lin Nan called out the fortune teller's true identity, a thunderous voice exploded on the scene: "Oh, a dignified Buddhist Bodhisattva, why are you so pretentious and calculating against others?"

Before the curtain fell, the people were shocked: "This..."

They witnessed the fortune teller on the stage suddenly transform and return to the true form of Guanyin Bodhisattva.

"The one who framed the Dragon King of Jing River turned out to be the compassionate Guanyin Bodhisattva of the South China Sea?" the people exclaimed in shock.

The first play was "The Grand Master Kills the Goldfish Spirit with a Sword", and the second was "The Dragon King of Jinghe River is Trapped". Although people complained a little at first, they were soon deeply attracted by the plot. Compared with the former, the plot of the latter is more tortuous and full of drama. Although it does not have the atmosphere of decisive killing in the former, it is better in terms of exciting plot.

What's more, this time there are many more characters, and they are more exciting. Among them are the City God of Chang'an, the Dragon King of Jinghe River, the Third Prince of the West Sea, etc., which opened the eyes of the people.

"It turns out that it was Avalokitesvara who framed the Dragon King of Jinghe River!"

"She is not kind and compassionate at all, she is just pretending!"

"Only the Grand Master is truly upright and can stand up for the Dragon King of Jinghe River like this!"

"The Grand Master has a prominent position and is not afraid of Guanyin Bodhisattva at all!"

"In Chang'an City, all the gods in the city are respectful to him. This is the true great master!"

"The legendary Tang Dynasty in the East is so charming and beautiful."

"What's the sequel? After the Grand Master exposed Guanyin's conspiracy, did he save the Dragon King of Jinghe River?" The people's concerns varied, but they all shared one thing in common - their desire for sequel and their growing disgust for Guanyin Bodhisattva.

The "public image" of Guanyin Bodhisattva in Chechi State has plummeted, and it is not just a minor decline, it is a complete collapse. Think about it, she is supporting a man-eating monster and framing the Dragon King. How can these actions be compared to the legendary compassion and salvation of all living beings? This series of actions is really shocking.

As the image of Guanyin Bodhisattva collapsed, another character, Lin Nan, gradually established his own image in people's minds. His story, like a fresh breeze, blew away the previous haze.

"What's next? How does the story develop?" People are eager to know the follow-up.

The "film" called "The Dragon King of Jinghe River is Trapped" came to an abrupt end when the Dragon King of Jinghe River was arrested by the Heavenly Court. It's like watching a suspense drama, and suddenly a commercial is inserted at the climax, leaving the audience itching and wanting more.

At this time, the mysterious character, Liu Er Mi Hou, pressed the pause button. "Continue playing at this time tomorrow." After saying that, he disappeared from everyone's sight with a somersault cloud. This action was clean and neat, without any drag.

Interestingly, this scene was not staged in just one place. The same scene appeared almost simultaneously in all parts of the border of Chechi State. It was as if there were multiple clones of the six-eared macaque, performing this wonderful "screening" simultaneously in every corner. Moreover, the content of each screening stopped abruptly at the most critical point, which undoubtedly whetted the audience's appetite.

The people in the borderland were deeply attracted by this way of broadcasting, and they were always thinking about the next plot. However, the six-eared macaque was like a naughty child, leaving a big suspense and then disappeared without a trace.

When the people dispersed, they all cast strange glances at the nearby Buddhist temple. They muttered: "Why is the Bodhisattva not merciful at all?" "Why has Buddhism become a place where filth and dirt are hidden?" Although people came and went in front of the Buddhist temple, no one was willing to go in to burn incense and listen to the sutras.

This situation lasted for two days, and even the Arhats from Mount Lingshan in the temple felt the seriousness of the situation. If it continued like this, it would not just be a matter of respecting Taoism and despising Buddhism. Buddhism might become the target of public criticism and be condemned by everyone.

"No, we have to go back to Lingshan and report to the Buddha!" An Arhat made a prompt decision and decided to return to Lingshan.

On the third day, a large number of people gathered near the Buddhist temples that suddenly appeared on the border. Not only local people came, but also some people from inland areas. The number of people was much larger than the previous two days. Everyone was waiting and looking forward to the next "screening".

When the time came, the figure of the six-eared macaque appeared in front of everyone again. "I am a disciple of the great master, and my Dharma name is Renxin..." After a brief self-introduction, he waved his hand and a new "movie" began.

"This time we're showing 'The Demon in the Quicksand River Turns Back.'" As soon as Liu'er Mihou finished speaking, a new name came into everyone's ears.

"Why isn't it 'The Dragon King of Jinghe is trapped'?" someone asked.

"Yes, what happened to the Dragon King of Jinghe after he was captured and brought to Heaven?" another person echoed.

"How about replaying 'The Great Master Kills the Goldfish Spirit with Sword'?" someone offered his suggestion.

"The demon in Liusha River has turned back, what does this mean?" Everyone was talking about it, full of curiosity about the new plot.

Although people were talking about it one after another, a new picture began to slowly appear on the screen.

At the beginning of the scene, Lin Nan was riding a dragon, traveling between heaven and earth. The spectacular scene made the audience couldn't help but exclaim in amazement.

They have lived in Chechi Country all their lives, how could they have ever seen such a magnificent scenery? (End of this chapter)
