Chapter 511 We Are Not Human

Not only the project team members in the conference room, but even Fang Xianyu himself had tried to find the answer to this question, but unfortunately, he had no results.

So she avoided that topic and went on to talk about demon cultivation: "So, 'demon' is actually easy to identify. If we use the concept from Earth, it can perhaps be understood as a kind of 'mutation.' Of course, the 'spiritualization reaction' you mentioned is also a direction."

"The biggest difference between a 'demon' and the animal from which it originates is probably that a 'demon' can continue to grow and 'evolve,' which is to say... cultivation."

"As demon cultivators cultivate, they can continuously improve their character and temper their bodies, gradually shedding their animalistic nature and becoming more human in form and way of thinking."

"Of course, this is from a human perspective. In fact, whether it is a demon cultivator or another race, or even a human, with cultivation and physical tempering, they will become closer and closer to the appearance of a 'god'... It is worth mentioning that I am talking about the gods who were born in ancient times, not the gods in the form of alien beasts later on."

Fang Xianyu's explanation made many people look thoughtful.

Based on the analysis of materials collected by the project team from various places such as Quanxianwangcheng, the timeline of Guixu Realm can be roughly divided into four stages. The Guixu Realm History Research Group has also given names to these four stages and made a simple summary.

The first stage is called the "Current Era". During this period, legend has it that the world was separated by the Guixu Sea. The world was filled with pure and turbid air, but there was no spiritual energy. There were no living beings in the world, only the endless Guixu Sea.

The second stage is known as the "Era of Life". As the name suggests, during this period, the pure energy transformed into the first gods, namely Nuwa, Fengzhu, Litian, Kuiwei, Leizu, etc., whose images resembled those of humans.

At the same time, during this period, these gods attained enlightenment in the endless Guixu Sea. Some ignited the sun (although this is quite different from the understanding of celestial bodies on Earth, in many records, the sun in the Guixu world was indeed "ignited" by the gods), some moved the moon (still based on the summary of records), and others controlled wind, rain, thunder, and lightning.

These gods constantly attained enlightenment, and there were many struggles and frictions among them. As a result, many gods fell in this era, and many new races and lives were born (according to Fang Xianyu's explanation, these were new creatures transformed from the flesh and blood of the gods).

The third stage is what people often refer to as the "ancient times," also known as the "ancient era."

During this period, after being suppressed by several powerful gods and facing an invasion from the Nine Netherworld, the Guixu Realm generally maintained a relatively peaceful state despite the increasing external threats. The two famous "Great Calamities of Heaven and Earth," such as sealing the Nine Netherworld with Mount Xuwei and blocking the entrance to Guixu with the Five-Colored Array, also occurred during this time.

At the same time, various races began to develop collective civilizations, forming basic societies that existed in clusters, with most dependent on certain gods. Races such as the Dragon Clan and the Spring Immortal Clan gradually formed stable civilizations during this period.

Furthermore, the creation of humankind by Nuwa also occurred at the end of the ancient era.

The fourth stage is called the "Fourth Era," and it is marked by the collective disappearance of the ancient gods. This division was made within the Blue Star China Project Team. In fact, the division of these four eras was determined by the project team itself, since they couldn't expect these scattered forces in the Ruins Realm to have any research in this area.

According to the classification, the Guixu Realm is currently in the early stages of the Fourth Era, because the first three eras each lasted for hundreds of thousands of years, while the Fourth Era has only just begun, less than ten thousand years ago. A member of the project team visibly breathed a sigh of relief and said, "If we assume that the demons that have undergone the 'spiritual transformation' do indeed exhibit a 'completely mutated' form, then we no longer have to struggle with the difficult question of how to classify animals as 'demons'."

“That’s right. Actually, there’s a simpler way to understand it,” Fang Xianyu nodded and said, “For example, many animals with high intelligence don’t eat their own kind, but demon cultivators don’t have the taboo against eating animals of their own origin. It’s not uncommon for rabbit demons to eat wild rabbits. After herbivores gain intelligence, they don’t necessarily eat only plants. Just like on Earth, herbivores only eat certain foods mostly because their digestive systems and bodies can only accept that kind of food. But after gaining intelligence and becoming demon cultivators, their bodies are tempered, and this kind of constraint no longer exists.”

Aunt Wang glanced at the time discreetly and realized that Fang Xianyu had said everything he needed to say. She then took over the conversation and asked, "I understand. So, does Sect Leader Fang have any opinions or suggestions regarding the establishment of an institution for the study of multiple races, including demon cultivators?"

Fang Xianyu smiled and replied, "It's a commendable suggestion. I look forward to a more inclusive school appearing in the Guixu Realm, under the jurisdiction of the Taiyin Sect."

Having understood Fang Xianyu's meaning, Aunt Wang readily took charge: "Thank you for your perspective, Sect Leader Fang. Our project team will submit the proposal to you shortly..."

After exchanging a few more polite words, Fang Xianyu's screen finally went dark.

For a moment, the meeting room was completely silent.

Although Fang Xianyu's presentation wasn't particularly groundbreaking, the shrewd people present all sensed a slight sense of unease.

After a long while, it was Wang Qiqing, the boldest of them all, who broke the silence.

"Ahem, I suddenly had an idea,"

He coughed a few times to attract everyone's attention before dropping the most explosive statement of the day: "Is it possible, I mean possible, that the people of our Blue Star, the Flower Country, are not actually human!"

As soon as Wang Qiqing finished speaking, several professors who were closest to him showed expressions that were hard to describe, looking at him as if he were an idiot.

Wang Qiqing, who felt he was standing in the atmosphere, raised his chin slightly, deliberately whetting everyone's appetite. But Professor Wu, who was standing next to him, suddenly realized what was going on, slammed his hand on the table, and said excitedly, "Professor Wang, are you saying that if the people of our Blue Star are all descendants of the ancient gods who disappeared from the Guixu Realm, then we are indeed different from the current 'humans' of the Guixu Realm!"

One professor immediately shook his head and said, "I object. The timing of the key moments in the two worlds doesn't match up at all. Moreover, the development and evolution of humans on our Blue Star are traceable, and genes have been passed down from generation to generation. There has been no sudden appearance or increase. In fact, the earliest can be traced back to early Homo sapiens 100,000 years ago... 100,000 years ago, the Guixu Realm was still in the 'Ancient Era,' and the so-called 'Ancient Gods' had not yet left the Guixu Realm!"

Wang Qiqing insisted, "But I still feel that none of us are human!" (End of Chapter)
