After the teleportation array was set up, Nietzsche assigned a few players with long reach to engage the monsters.

Although the pressure was always there, after being forced to freeze for a while at the beginning, the players gradually got used to the feeling of being sluggish, complaining as they flew through the air.

The ground was filled with headless figures, and no one dared to land rashly. Several players could only fly over together and cautiously approach the BOSS.

Although the underground was shrouded in red mist, visibility wasn't too low. As they got closer to the BOSS, its appearance gradually became clearer through the mist.

It was a gigantic, deformed monster, its entire body composed of blackened bones. Its winding spine was made up of interconnected skulls, and its long, narrow head was a jumble of various broken bones. Two empty, dark eye sockets were exposed on its skull. The idea that humans have three souls and seven spirits is almost universally known in the Guixu Realm and is an objective fact.

The three souls are the Heavenly Soul Tai Guang, the Earthly Soul Shuang Ling, and the Life Soul You Jing.

The Heavenly Soul, or Fetal Light, governs destiny. This Heavenly Soul is born from the moment a person is conceived, hence the name "Fetal Light." Because it exists innately, it is also called the "Heavenly Soul." When a person loses the Fetal Light, they lose their life. Normally, a soul without the Fetal Light cannot even possess another body.

The Earth Soul Shuangling governs spiritual intelligence. After the birth of the fetal light, Shuangling will slowly condense and grow. This is why the younger the child, the more foolish and ignorant they are. In the Blue Star Realm, this is explained as the brain not being fully developed, while in the Guixu Realm, it is explained as the Shuangling not being fully grown.

The living spirit, or Netherworld Spirit, governs the mind and will; as the name suggests, it controls various aspects of a person's spirit, such as their will to live and their perseverance. Beings like vengeful ghosts often retain the Netherworld Spirit, allowing them to survive as souls. The Netherworld Spirit is also the strongest, most concentrated, and most vital of the three souls. Only it can exist independently of the other two souls without a physical body, hence it is also called the "living spirit."

As for the seven spirits, each has its own interpretation. According to the most widely circulated account in the Central Continent, they are the Corpse Dog Spirit, Hidden Arrow Spirit, Sparrow Yin Spirit, Thief-Swallowing Spirit, Non-Poison Spirit, Filth-Cleansing Spirit, and Foul Lung Spirit. However, within the Ten Continents and Three Islands, the names for the three souls and seven spirits vary from place to place, but the general understanding and classification of them are not significantly different.

Regardless, this act of sealing away the souls and spirits within headless flesh, turning people into undead monsters, was utterly heinous and horribly evil. Thinking of how many years these poor souls had been trapped here, serving as "charging banks," Fang Xianyu almost couldn't control his murderous intent. Meanwhile, the players, completely unaware of what was happening, were enthusiastically discussing the monster's origins—

"Is it a winged snake? It looks kind of scary!"

While the players were exchanging witty remarks, the group Nietzsche had selected was gradually approaching the BOSS.

The Taoist Master, whose hands were among the longest in the group, was the first to attack the boss after he and several other players approached it, casting a lightning spell that struck the boss.

However, the expected BOSS activation did not occur. The monster was struck by lightning but seemed unaffected, ignoring the players hovering above it and not even changing its "breathing".

Renxin Huadao and the other players exchanged glances, all looking puzzled.

Then, the group launched another attack on the monster with perfect coordination. Thunder spells, fireballs, various talismans, and flying swords clattered and clanged as they unleashed a flurry of attacks. The BOSS, however, didn't even give them a second glance. It remained lying there quietly, as if in deep meditation, completely oblivious to the outside world.

This stunned all the players, and someone immediately questioned, "Guild leader, is this some kind of bug? The BOSS is completely ignoring us!"

"Maybe it's a bonus instance!"

"Maybe it's a new adventure! I have this weird feeling that I'm about to strike it rich!"

Nietzsche hesitated for a moment, then simply said, "This might be a stationary boss; let's all go stand there and fight!"

At Nietzsche's command, the players excitedly rushed forward, each displaying their unique skills, and began to unleash a barrage of attacks on the BOSS.

But this boss had incredibly high health; after several minutes of hard work, its thick health bar had only shrunk by a mere sliver. Its bones were harder than iron; various spells and weapons struck them without even a scratch!

What the players didn't know was that the monsters, despite having their health reduced to a sliver, hadn't actually had their defenses broken at all! (End of Chapter)
