“You’re laughing like that, so you obviously know why it sounds familiar,” said the gray-handed man. “I knew you knew it sounded familiar too.”

The brown-handed man said, "You're just being so direct? Aren't you leaving yourself any room for maneuver?"

"What room for maneuver?" the gray-handed man laughed. "I'd like to hear it."

“It’s about not making absolute statements,” the brown-handed man said. “That’s what I mean by leaving room for maneuver.” “Haven’t you thought about how to phrase leaving room for maneuver?” the gray-handed man asked.

The brown-handed man said, "I can think of it now, so there's no need to think of any room for maneuver beforehand."

“Sure, what I just came up with is similar to what you just said, only I changed it into a question,” the brown-handed man laughed. “It’s like changing your ‘I knew you’d find it familiar’ to ‘Don’t you find it familiar too?’”

“If that’s the case, I can certainly insist that it didn’t achieve the desired effect,” Grayhand laughed. “I can force you to ask me as if you were asking with an answer in mind.”

“I would like to revise what you said earlier,” said the brown-handed man.

"Which sentence? How do you want to change it?" Gray-Handed Man asked.

The brown-handed man replied, “You just said to me, ‘You laugh like that, you obviously know why it sounds familiar.’ I changed it to, ‘You laugh like that, do you know why it sounds familiar?’ Of course, this is still a question. If you insist that I asked with an answer in mind, I can’t really argue with that.”
