Fusang Sword Heart Diagram
301. A Letter to Book Lovers
I mainly want to talk about two points, which I actually wanted to say last month or even earlier.
After I finished writing the book, when it had reached tens of thousands of words, the editor said that the sales were not good, and it would be difficult to earn even 50 yuan a month. He suggested that if I wanted to continue writing, he would let me publish it on the shelves (which I considered a friendly gesture from the editor to allow me to enter the paid section).
The editor asked me if I would write a silly cultivation novel, probably trying to give me a hand or a chance, but I didn't seize it.
Sometimes, opportunities are right in front of us, but we are blinded and cannot see them.
As the saying goes, opportunity knocks but once. If I could turn back time, I don't know what I would choose. I would probably compromise.
Later, I was transferred to a new editor with many authors under her. I was just a Level 1 author, insignificant among the countless authors under Yuewen. Except for some necessary matters, I was too embarrassed to contact her.
This book wasn't available on Qidian before. The new editor took a look and then it was uploaded to Qidian.
The poor performance of the book is obvious to everyone, so I don't need to elaborate. There are fewer active readers than cultivators at the fourteenth realm in Zhongling Tianxia.
I don't mind writing a million-player single-player game. Originally, I thought that if the data was poor, I would just write it slowly and update it as I pleased, and it would eventually come to an end.
However, because I occasionally receive monthly tickets and comments from readers, I feel embarrassed to stop updating.
However, I write slowly, so it usually takes me three to four hours to write two chapters. You can tell from the update time that the second chapter is usually released on the verge of death.
It's past midnight when I finish writing. Even after detaching myself from the world of the book, my mind is still filled with all sorts of thoughts and ideas. It takes a while for them to calm down, so it's hard for me to go to bed early every day.
According to the initial plan, the data was not good, so I planned to update it slowly and gradually. However, it is also close to the Chinese New Year, and I need to work hard to "work hard" and cannot devote so much energy to writing this book. Therefore, I plan to relieve the pressure, return to the original idea, update it as it comes, and completely let go of the data.
For three months after a new book is released, it can climb the new book charts. There is a reward of 600 for the top 300. The closest you can get to the top of the charts is in the last month after you are on the list.
Around the 28th, he was still in the bottom 200s on the list, but by the 29th, he had dropped to 303, then 304, and finally 305.
It's probably just my personality; I'm quite optimistic. It's just a pity that I only stayed optimistic for a short while, but I've come to terms with it and can let it go.
However, I wanted to quit then, but I still had time, so I persisted for another month.
四月底发书,就算五月吧,收入从6月开始24.17、7月72.09、8月126.98,9月129.88,10月356.36,合计五个月709.48。
After the calculator produced this number, only... could express my feelings. It's not as good as a good topic. I worked hard to climb the charts for a month. There are 800 people in the top 200 in a month.
It's true, January is even better than May.
I used to see the term "Dao Heart" in novels, but I couldn't truly understand why cultivators had to uphold their Dao Heart. It wasn't until I started writing novels myself that I understood why, once the "Dao Heart is shattered," this path is completely over.
You might really start to doubt yourself and think you're not suited for this path.
However, my Dao heart is still alright, it hasn't shattered, especially my Dao heart, which is related to the female protagonist of each book. Fusang is resilient, so when I was writing this book, my Dao heart was relatively strong. That is to say, I know that Fusang doesn't care about bad reviews, people's disapproval, or slander. So I don't care either.
If my female lead is bright, kind, and intelligent, I don't want to see any negative words used to describe her, so my mindset is easily affected by bad reviews.
During the writing process, some people advised me to cut the book or end it early if the data wasn't good.
But because this book is a long novel, and I originally envisioned it as an even longer one, I couldn't jump straight to the end.
Even if I didn't actually have an outline, I couldn't skip ahead to the end.
The first volume, "The Light of Fusang," contains 40 words. Its central point is that Fusang cultivators reach the ninth level of cultivation. Only the Sword Inquiry Tournament and the Five Continents Conference are the goals of this volume; the rest of the content is free-flowing development to fill in these two "knots."
The second volume, "The Royal Treasury," contains only one "knot," which is finding the old site of the royal court. Similarly, the other plot points also unfold freely towards this goal.
The Changman, Baini, the desolate sea, the land of the Shuixiao tribe, and the remnants of the termite army are all plots that arose naturally and spontaneously with the tide.
So when I saw that everyone disliked Feng Fuying, I simply killed him off. Everyone disliked Fusang suffering at his hands, but my original idea for setting up this "loss" was that although Fusang was smart, it was unrealistic for her to have everything go smoothly. In the entire Zhongling world, she couldn't be the only smart person. I didn't want to choose to make other characters less intelligent to highlight the female lead's intelligence. In fact, Fusang didn't suffer any loss; she even got the "Dragon King's Basket."
I've seen people say that the intelligence of the characters in a book is determined by the author's intelligence.
My IQ is at its limit, but it's more accurate to say that the IQ of people in Japan is much higher than mine.
I tried my best to increase her intelligence, which resulted in the Feng Fuying part not being written well. It's a problem with the author's limited intelligence, and I admit that.
But I saw some comments saying that I wanted to add romantic scenes, which I don't agree with.
Since it's tagged as "no romance," how could I possibly add a male lead? Although I don't claim to be of high moral character, I've always believed I'm a pretty good person.
Seeing such a book review, my first thought was that my character was being questioned, and my second thought was that I was speechless. How could Fusang, with her personality, possibly have a romantic storyline? She's just not suited for dating!
To be honest, I find it hard to imagine that Fusang has a romantic storyline. In fact, I can't even imagine how you guys could come up with such a word.
However, to avoid trouble, after seeing everyone's comments, the next chapter directly killed off Feng Fuying.
People think he's not really dead because he died so casually. Actually, he really died; I cut his scenes.
If each volume is 40 words, then four volumes should be 160 million words. I originally thought there would be some overflow, possibly more than 200 million words.
As the plot unfolded, there was consideration of merging Volumes 3 and 4 and removing some filler content.
The map change should occur in Volume 3.
If we compare the universe to a chessboard, we are now in the fifth era, so there should actually be five chessboards.
The current state of Zhongling can be seen as a chess player overturning the old chessboard and starting anew on a new one.
Next, the five chessboards will be pieced together, and some important figures will gradually appear.
They appeared late because Japan is too weak right now. If the stronger powers had appeared at this time, Japan would have been completely outmatched.
The following content contains spoilers, so I won't go into it.
(Actually, both of my books are well-suited to developing new stories based on this foundation. Let's leave aside the previous one for now, as I wrote it in a rush and didn't have many things planned out.)
However, regarding the current book, after Fusang became a legend, the things she left behind and the changed circumstances could easily be used to develop new content. She has a magical artifact, the Longevity Mirror, which she hasn't yet obtained, and it would actually be very suitable as a cheat code, allowing for a story about taming beasts and cultivating immortality. Of course, thinking about all this now is just wishful thinking; it just popped into my head, so I'm mentioning it here.
From the publication of the book to 65 words, this is the first time I've talked about so much. After rambling on for a while, I can finally get to the second point.
The second point is that I saw some readers say that the beginning was poorly written and rather bland.
Because it was everyone's kind suggestion, I've considered revising the text.
But as everyone knows, a small change can have far-reaching consequences, so how to revise the text requires careful consideration.
After reading the sincere suggestions from fellow readers, I currently have two ideas.
First, add a prologue before the main text, telling the story of Fusang from the Hall of Longevity to the Southern Star Sword Sect (this is a suggestion from a fellow reader, which is like feeding the reader food).
However, this presents a problem: the "related to the work" feature is only available on Qidian and cannot be seen elsewhere.
Moreover, it's like adding a side story; no revisions are needed.
Secondly, I incorporated this suggestion from a fellow reader into the opening, and I changed the opening section as well.
However, this also presents a problem: the chapter titles cannot be modified, which may cause discrepancies between the titles and the content. But this is a minor issue and can be ignored.
However, revising the text in this way requires finding a suitable entry point and cut-off point, and the main difficulty lies in finding the cut-off point.
It's also a point of concern that it might get worse with repairs.
I'll leave the revisions until after Volume 2. In the meantime, I'll gather everyone's opinions. If you're all pretty laid-back, I'll just revise it entirely according to my own ideas.
In summary: I will not update frequently in the future, and I have no interest in data. If you choose to abandon the book, feel free to leave or leave after saying a few words of criticism, as I cannot see the comments from other platforms.
And I'm highly unlikely to let the negative reviews after this chapter is published affect my mood.
I wrote for 710 yuan over five months, and because I have a clear conscience, I feel at ease.
Furthermore, if you are familiar with Kunlun Chinese website, you will know that this book is free reading (I typed it in English to avoid censorship), and I did not charge you any money.
In the author's note in the first chapter, I mentioned that watching ads on QQ Reading would allow me to read the content remotely, but it was blocked by the system. I only discovered this later, and after deleting those few words, the realm divisions were able to reappear.
