Chapter 237 The Spirit Turtle Ferry

After leaving Xingjiu Village, Ning Fusang boarded a ten-thousand-year-old spirit tortoise ferry.

This ferry belongs to the Beast Taming Sect. It starts from Dongyao Mingzhou, circles around Sifangzhou, and then returns to Qinghe Ferry in Mingzhou.

Xingjiu Village is located in the area where Beiyuling Prefecture and Dongyaoming Prefecture meet. Shangling City is further south, within Ming Prefecture, but very close to Chunhe Prefecture.

The Linggui Ferry route goes south for about ten days, crosses the Muyan River, and then travels for another month and a half to reach the Fengyan Ferry. After disembarking there, the first city to the west is Shangling City.

The further south the ferry traveled, the warmer the weather became. Winter was still ongoing, yet there was no snowfall at all.

The mountains on both sides of the river are either verdant or dark in color, and sometimes they are covered with crimson flowers and trees.

The golden crow appears in the east and eventually sets in the west. As the place where the sun rises, Dongyao Mingzhou has plants that grow exceptionally lushly throughout the year, as they receive plenty of sunshine.

On the Muyan River, the mist was tinged with gold, and petals that had fallen from the cliffs floated on the surface.

Occasionally, a clever fish leaps out of the water, snatches a petal, and then dives back in, leaving behind only ripples spreading outwards.

The turtle swims at a speed not much slower than an ordinary ferry. Its shell is enormous, covered with rocks and flowering trees.

In the very center grows a thousand-year-old crabapple tree, which is surrounded by the Beast Taming Sect. Passengers on the ferry can only watch from the outside and are not allowed to get close.

This crabapple tree is a double-flowered crabapple, with layers upon layers of petals supporting a huge crown, making it extremely beautiful and charming.

What's amazing is that this double-flowered crabapple tree can bloom with white, pink and other colors of flowers on a single tree. Countless passengers on the ferry even come specifically to see the crabapple tree and write poems for it.

Unfortunately, it seems that none of them have much literary talent, and to this day, not many masterpieces have been produced that have become famous.

Otherwise, the reputation of this spirit turtle ferry would be even more renowned.

Ning Fusang could have flown to Shangling City on his sword, but who knows if there would be any restrictions or restrictions on the various mountains and peaks along the way.

If he accidentally wandered onto someone else's mountain, it would cause a lot of trouble. To save himself the trouble, Ning Fusang finally decided to take the ferry.

Moreover, her battle with the sword cultivators of Xuanpu Mountain had consumed a lot of her spiritual energy, and she also had some hidden injuries. The time spent on the ferry was a good opportunity to recuperate.

This tortoise ferry is more aptly described as a tortoise island.

The rooms on the island, large and small, were divided into three classes: superior, middle, and inferior. Ning Fusang chose a superior room for peace and quiet.

You can see the river view as soon as you open the window, without having to go to the viewing platform where there are crowds.

The treatment for guests in the superior rooms is also excellent. The rooms are filled with various spiritual melons and fruits, as well as Silver Rain Fairy Tea, a specialty of Mingzhou.

Every day, maids would come to deliver spiritual meals and inquire about the guests' stay. However, these maids were very perceptive; upon seeing the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, they would quietly leave without disturbing the guests' rest.

The "Do Not Disturb" sign outside Ning Fusang's room has remained in place ever since she arrived on the island.

The spirit tortoise moved very smoothly. She sat cross-legged on the futon, and only needed to meditate and rest to slowly heal her injuries, remove hidden wounds, and restore her vitality.

This cycle repeated itself every day until Ning Fusang crossed the Muyan River without incident, at which point he ended his meditation.

She stayed in the room for a long time. After the barrier was removed, various sounds entered her ears.

Ning Fusang went out for a stroll. This spirit turtle ferry was owned by the Beast Taming Sect, so there were many disciples of the Beast Taming Sect on the island.

Within three or four steps, you can see a handsome young cultivator, with a raccoon dog perched on his shoulder or a bird standing on him.

Some cultivators wore headdresses that were narrow at the bottom and wide at the top, making nests for their beloved pets. Unidentified, snow-white beasts clung to the cultivators' hats, displaying their endearing clumsiness. Ning Fusang had seen disciples of the Beast Taming Sect at the Five Continents Conference, but perhaps because they were traveling, they were more restrained and not as unrestrained as they were on Spirit Turtle Island.

Therefore, the island's scenery was something Ning Fusang had never seen before.

A young girl dressed in fairy robes, with a sword hanging from her waist, squatted down to the side, asking a disciple of the Beast Taming Sect for guidance:
"If I encounter a spirit beast that perfectly suits my taste, but is extremely ferocious, and I want to form a contract with it, but it fights desperately and resists my contract, what should I do?"

This disciple of the Beast Taming Sect didn't find the problem difficult at all. He spoke eloquently, saying, "Generally, there are only three possibilities in this situation."

The girl made a listening gesture.

"First, if it would rather die than submit, but you truly love this spirit beast, then release it."

"Secondly, if the spirit beast resists to the death, you'd better not take any chances. You should cut your losses and kill it. Otherwise, if the spirit beast self-destructs its core, even if you survive, you will be seriously injured and end up with nothing."

The girl pressed further, "In that case, doesn't it mean that no matter what I choose, it can never become my contracted spirit beast?"

The young man smiled and said, "I have a third point I haven't mentioned yet."

“The kind of extremely ferocious spirit beasts that the girl mentioned usually have one thing in common: they admire the strong.”

"As long as the girl can subdue it, the probability of the spirit beast submitting is at least 70%."

Ning Fusang and Qian Yuan listened to this conversation without commenting.

Qianyuan knew best that what the young man said made sense.

Whether they are powerful demonic beasts or spirit beasts, they will only submit to the strong. The weak are merely their food.

If Ning Fusang hadn't defeated Qianyuan, it wouldn't have taken the initiative to form a contract with the human race.

For two thousand years, it has recognized only one human being, Ning Fusang.

Even that Mingjing swordsman who once astonished the world with a single sword strike, Qian Yuan never acknowledged.

The cultivators on Spirit Turtle Island were of all kinds, and some spoke in dialects that Ning Fusang couldn't understand.

However, most monks still communicated in polite and proper language.

As the Spirit Turtle Ferry entered a section between cliffs, Ning Fusang clearly felt the ferry sink slightly into the water. The cliffs on both sides were straight, as if a sword immortal had cleaved the mountain blocking the way with a single sword stroke, creating this waterway.

The space between the cliffs was too narrow; if the tortoise didn't sink down a little, it would be difficult to pass safely.

The crabapple tree on the turtle's back had its branches extending outwards. After being squeezed and broken by the cliff, many petals fell.

"This gorge looks so deep, and the spiritual energy is quite abundant, yet it has never given birth to any dragons or similar creatures?"

A woman patted her chest and said, "Every time I pass through a place like this, I worry that some giant snake or dragon might suddenly emerge from the water and capsize the ferry. It's better to get through here as soon as possible."

Another voice chuckled, "The Beast Taming Sect has traversed this route many times without ever encountering any problems. How could a dragon suddenly appear and capsize the ferry? Rest assured, fairies."

The woman who had spoken earlier nodded thoughtfully. "Indeed, I've heard that the Beast Taming Sect has always wanted to capture a dragon, but unfortunately they've been struggling to find any trace of it. If there were a dragon in this water, the Beast Taming Sect wouldn't have to search so hard all over the country."
