When the emperor comes to modern times, history collapses!
Chapter 99: The shame of Jingkang is so great that it can’t be put down in just one episode!
Chapter 99: The shame of Jingkang is so great that it cannot be put down for even one episode!
After venting for a while, Zhao Kuangyin calmed down.
Zhu Ming walked over with a smile and put his arm around Lao Zhao's shoulders.
"I think you should think like this. There were the Southern Song Dynasty and the Northern Song Dynasty in history, but now that you know about it in advance, it can be completely avoided."
Shi Shouxin nodded repeatedly: "Your Majesty, Brother Zhu is right. Now we know in advance that I am willing to lead the troops to conquer the north!"
Zhao Pu also advised: "Your Majesty, when you go back, establish the position of the crown prince and teach him carefully, perhaps this can be avoided."
Zhao Kuangyin had never decided on a crown prince.
Zhao Pu persuaded him tactfully.
If the emperor had changed, the result might have been different.
Zhao Kuangyin, exuding a decadent aura, looked as if he had drunk chicken soup.
"Yes, I am still alive, everything can change!"
"Even if this is the fate of the Song Dynasty, I will break it!"
"The North, right? I will go north when I return."
Zhao Pu's face was full of horror, if that was the case.
The Northern Song Dynasty would have disappeared without the emergence of the Southern Song Dynasty.
Shi Shouxin raised his head and chest and said: "Your Majesty, I am willing to be the vanguard!"
Zhu Ming smiled and said, "It's a good idea. Reality will tell you that the Song Dynasty can be taken away in one go. There's no need to distinguish between the Southern Song Dynasty and the Northern Song Dynasty."
Zhao Kuangyin glared at Zhu Ming, then deflated after a few seconds.
"Do you have any wine? I want to get drunk tonight!"
Zhu Ming: "Okay, I don't have any military power anyway, so I'll just have a drink with you!"
Placed an order for a table of food and wine.
Inside the villa.
Bright lights.
"Is this wine?"
"This is authentic Erguotou. It's your first time drinking it. You have to drink it slowly. Otherwise, you might collapse in no time."
Zhao Kuangyin was not convinced: "Wine, wine, wine, for us, drinking wine is just like drinking water!"
Zhu Ming: "I believe you. You can't drink much. You've already passed out. How can you release your military power with just a glass of wine?"
Zhao Kuangyin was confused: "Giving up military power over a cup of wine, what is that?"
Zhu Ming asked curiously, "How many years has the Song Dynasty been established? As far as I remember, the idea of giving up military power over a cup of wine seemed to have happened a long time ago."
Zhao Kuangyin counted on his fingers and said, "It was just established this year."
Zhu Ming's eyelids twitched. "It was built this year. Why are you pinching your fingers? I thought it was many years ago."
“I guess it hasn’t happened yet.”
Zhao Kuangyin was quite curious: "Can you tell me what is the meaning of giving up military power over a cup of wine?"
Zhu Ming: "You should be able to get the general idea by listening to the literal meaning."
"With just one glass of wine, he removed someone's military power."
Zhao Kuangyin was stunned. Is it so careless?
I am not a casual person: "No way, such a big thing, how can it be solved with a glass of wine."
"Besides, why should I ask others to hand over their military power?"
Zhu Ming: "Why else? You are wearing a yellow robe, so you are probably afraid that your subordinates will also wear yellow robes."
Zhao Kuangyin smiled and said, "It's good this way. It will save us from having unfilial descendants who will not only create the Northern Song Dynasty or the Southern Song Dynasty, but will also be captured by foreign races. Wouldn't they just kill themselves?"
"Forget it, you should continue to talk about giving up military power over a cup of wine. Is it because someone is causing trouble that I would do this?"
"Those who have military power now are my brothers in life and death. I can't do this."
Zhu Ming: "I guess you have been emperor for too short a time and haven't adapted to your new identity yet."
Turn on the TV.
Zhu Ming found the documentary about the Great Song Dynasty.
One of the episodes is about "releasing military power over a cup of wine".
On the ninth day of July in the second year of Jianlong (961), Emperor Taizu of Song, Zhao Kuangyin, could not sleep.
I have the thought that 'there are always villains who want to harm me'.
Especially when looking at his former comrades-in-arms.
I always feel like I'm wearing a yellow robe.
Find drinking buddy Zhao Pu.
"Xiao Zhao, you said that we got the throne by wearing the yellow robe, and others can also get it. I slept these few days and I dreamed that all the eight brothers came to me. What do you think I should do?"
Zhao Pu suggested: "Your Majesty, how about we arrange a meeting tonight and have a good chat with them?"
Zhao Kuangyin frowned: "Did you not understand what I meant?"
Zhao Pu explained: "It is better to talk about things at the wine table."
Evening banquet.
Generals such as Shi Shouxin have all arrived.
After three rounds of drinking.
Zhao Kuangyin began to tell this matter to his sworn brothers.
Shi Shouxin and others looked at the knife on the neck and the money on the table.
You don’t have to think about what to choose.
All returned home to retire.
Zhao Kuangyin thus took back the general's military power.
After removing the military power of generals such as Shi Shouxin, Taizu selected some people who were easy to control to serve as generals of the imperial guards.
After the incident of releasing military power over a cup of wine, all the imperial guard posts of Song Taizu's sworn brothers who held military power at the time were relieved and the post was never granted to anyone else.
Shi Shouxin listened and cursed in his heart.
Why listen to this.
This is not about retiring a year early.
He picked up the wine glass and drank it all in one gulp.
"Your Majesty, I am not feeling well and I am afraid that I will not be able to continue leading the troops in battle. I am homesick and would like to return home to spend my remaining years. Please grant me permission, Your Majesty."
Zhao Kuangyin listened to the introduction on TV.
Imagine that you are sleeping.
A general under his command stole his own dragon robe and put it on Shi Shouxin: "General Shi, Old Zhao is unkind. From today on, we brothers will recognize you as the emperor!"
When I woke up again, I was already in prison.
Otherwise, take advantage of this opportunity to seize the military power.
It's just a little bit unauthentic.
It is better to learn from the predecessors and perform the three requests and three resignations.
Just about to speak.
The voice came from the TV again:
"Releasing Military Power Over a Cup of Wine" was the beginning of a series of political and military reform measures taken by Emperor Taizu of Song to strengthen centralization and consolidate his rule. He used peaceful means to remove the military power of ministers without damaging the harmony between the monarch and his subjects, and successfully prevented a military coup. This is a famous strategy for internal stability in history.
However, in the context of strong external threats, depriving generals of their military power also weakened the combat capability of the troops.
The emperor directly controlled the military power, the civilian officials who did not understand military affairs controlled the army, and the military generals were frequently transferred, which led to the Song Dynasty's repeated defeats in wars with Liao, Western Xia, and Jin, and its inability to resolve border troubles. The military weakness also led to the demise of the two Song dynasties at the hands of nomadic peoples whose social system was backward.
Zhao Kuangyin, who was about to perform, exclaimed in his heart: "Fuck it!"
"Lao Shi, what are you talking about? Am I that kind of person? Just be a good general!"
They are all killed by foreign races, so who cares about wearing the yellow robe?
Shi Shouxin said earnestly, "Your Majesty, I was thrown down today and suffered serious internal injuries. I really can't go to the battlefield."
Zhao Kuangyin: "I have a set of boxing techniques that can dredge the tendons and treat internal injuries. I will give you one every day and I guarantee you will be fully healed within a month."
Zhao Pu heard the comments on TV.
I think the demise of the Song Dynasty might have been due to me.
"Lao Shi, please don't resign. This is the Jingkang Shame. Do you just want to watch the northern barbarians show off their power?"
Shi Shouxin shook his head: "Old Zhao, please stop trying to persuade me. I really can't do it anymore." Zhao Kuangyin: "A man can't say no. A real man should die on the battlefield. And it's been three times. Don't talk about this anymore!"
"After I go back, I will set the rules to separate civil and military affairs. Leading troops to fight is what a general should do!"
"Can you tell me about the Jingkang Shame? I have heard it many times today, but I have never dared to ask what it is specifically about." After three rounds of drinks, Zhao Kuangyin finally asked.
It can be called a shame, and the content is sure to make your blood pressure soar.
Shi Shouxin and Zhao Pu, who were standing by, suddenly came to their senses.
"I am a little drunk, Brother Zhu, can you take me downstairs to rest first?"
"I'm drunk too, take me to rest."
The emperor was captured, which was an absolute humiliation for the royal family.
Although they are not Zhao Kuangyin's descendants, Zhao Kuangyin doesn't know it now.
Wait a minute, he will definitely get angry.
The two wanted a tactical retreat.
Zhao Kuangyin snorted coldly: "I see that you two are very sober, listen to me honestly, you must know shame and then be brave!"
The two of them complained in their hearts, and what they said was true.
I’m afraid that knowing too much will lead to death sooner.
Zhu Ming persuaded, "That's our history. It may not happen in your place. Are you sure you want to listen?"
"I think it's better for you not to know."
Zhao Kuangyin was silent for a moment: "You can play it boldly. I can stand it. It's nothing more than a threat to the Song Dynasty!"
Zhu Ming stood up and said, "Wait a minute, I'll go find some quick-acting heart pills."
"Otherwise, I'm afraid you won't be able to hold on."
Get some heart-saving pills.
Zhu Ming took the remote control and chose "Jingkang Shame".
The shame is so great that I can’t put it down for one episode!
The Jingkang Incident refers to the historical event in the second year of the Jingkang period (the fifth year of the Tianhui period of the Jin Dynasty, 1127) when the Jin Dynasty marched southward to capture the Northern Song Dynasty's capital, Dongjing, and abducted the two emperors Hui and Qin, leading to the demise of the Northern Song Dynasty.
It is also known as the Jingkang Rebellion, the Jingkang Disaster, the Jingkang Catastrophe, and the Jingkang Shame.
In the seventh year of Xuanhe in the Northern Song Dynasty, the Jin army divided into two routes, the east and the west, and marched south to attack the Song Dynasty. The eastern route was led by Wanyan Zongwang to attack Yanjing.
The western route was led by Wanyan Zonghan and he attacked Taiyuan directly.
The Jin troops from the east captured Yanjing, crossed the Yellow River, and headed south to Bianliang.
When Emperor Huizong of Song saw that his situation was critical, he abdicated the throne to Crown Prince Zhao Huan, who became Emperor Qinzong of Song.
In the first month of the first year of the Jing Kang period, Wanyan Zonghan led the Jin army's eastern army to the city of Bianjing, forcing the Song Dynasty to negotiate peace and then withdraw its troops. The Jin people demanded 5 million taels of gold and 50 million taels of silver, and ceded the three towns of Zhongshan, Hejian and Taiyuan.
However, what the Northern Song court did not expect was that the peace gained at such a high price did not last long.
In August of the same year, the Jin army attacked the Song Dynasty from two directions; in the intercalary November, the two Jin armies joined forces to capture Bian Jing.
After the Jin soldiers broke through the outer city, they stopped attacking and allowed the Northern Song Dynasty to negotiate peace.
A series of humiliations began from then on.
At the request of the Jin people, Song Qinzong went to negotiate peace.
Under the threat of the Jin soldiers, Song Qinzong wrote a letter of surrender, and revised it repeatedly to satisfy the Jin people. He then completed the surrender ceremony under the coercion of the Jin people, and was able to return to the court.
Seeing that the once high and mighty Song Dynasty had become so weak, the Jin Kingdom began to think of ways to humiliate it to satisfy its own desires.
The Jin Kingdom first made a huge request.
As soon as Emperor Qinzong of Song returned, the Jin people demanded a huge compensation of "1 million ingots of gold, 2 million ingots of silver, and 1000 million pieces of silk."
Although the economy of the Northern Song Dynasty was extremely developed, this amount, although exaggerated, was not impossible to raise as long as time was spent on raising it. But now that the Jin soldiers were at the gates of the city, how could the money be raised with the wealth of Bianliang alone?
When the Northern Song Dynasty government was unable to raise enough compensation, it turned its attention to the common people.
Emperor Qinzong of Song directly issued an edict requiring all the people in the city, regardless of their status, to hand over all the gold and silver in their homes. In order to meet the demands of the Jin people, the Song court in Bianliang could be said to have dug deep into the ground.
While the Northern Song court was trying its best to collect gold and silver, the Jin people demanded mules and horses, and as a result, all the horses in Kaifeng were gone;
The Jin people demanded another 1,500 young girls, and Song Qinzong did not dare to neglect them. He even let his concubines count as the girls. The girls were unwilling to be humiliated, and many of them died.
Even though the Song court tried its best to extort money, it was still difficult to meet the compensation demands. The Jin people then asked Song Qinzong to go for negotiations again. Song Qinzong did not dare to disobey, and was detained by the Jin people as a result.
When the imperial court heard that the emperor had been detained, it had to search the property by force.
They broke into people’s houses and robbed people openly, and asked five families to serve as guarantors and supervise and report on each other.
Even so, the gold and silver were still not enough. Four ministers including Mei Zhili who were responsible for plundering the gold and silver were executed by the Jin people. Many other officials were beaten with sticks. Many people were forced to commit suicide. The city of Kaifeng was in a state of desolation.
In the late first month of the lunar calendar, Kaifeng Prefecture collected 16 taels of gold, 200 million taels of silver, and 100 million rolls of silk.
It was far from what the Jin people asked for.
However, the Jin people also knew that the difficulty was a bit high.
It was suggested that objects could be exchanged for gold and silver.
All the ritual vessels for offering sacrifices to heaven, the emperor's carriage, various books and classics, musical instruments, and even costumes and props used in various operas were looted. There are even rumors that they resisted with their own people, and clearly marked the price:
1000 gold ingots were given to princesses and royal consorts, 500 gold ingots were given to princesses of the royal family, 500 silver ingots were given to princesses of the royal family, 200 gold ingots were given to princesses of the royal family, 200 silver ingots were given to princesses of the royal family, and 100 silver ingots were given to daughters of noble families. Doctors, musicians in the music school, and various craftsmen were also looted.
No matter what the Song Dynasty's rulers and ministers did, the Jin people refused to give up.
Finally, on February 6, the second year of the Jing Kang period, Emperor Qinzong of Song was demoted to a commoner and Emperor Huizong of Song was captured. The Northern Song Dynasty was destroyed. The Jin people then supported Zhang Bangchang as their enemy and established the pseudo-Chu regime.
Upon learning that Prince Kang Zhao Gou was actively deploying his troops, and seeing that Kaifeng had been plundered several times and was simply unable to raise the amount demanded by the Jin people, he began to prepare for retreat.
When withdrawing, the Jin people burned countless houses in the suburbs of Kaifeng, killing and looting along the way. Then they split their troops into two groups, escorting Huizong, Qinzong, Empress Zheng, Empress Zhu, the crown prince, clan members, grandchildren, princes-in-law, princesses, concubines, and court officials, totaling more than 3,000 people, north to the Jin Kingdom.
All the energy stored in the Northern Song Dynasty’s treasury was taken away.
In addition, there were palace maids, eunuchs, entertainers, craftsmen, etc., and the number of men and women who were abducted was no less than 10.
This concludes this issue, see you next time!
The Da Song trio grew angrier as they listened.
I heard about the Jingkang Incident before, where the emperor was captured.
There is no intuitive feeling yet.
Hear the numbers one by one.
Zhao Kuangyin slammed his fist on the table.
The marble table collapsed with a loud crash.
"puff"
Zhao Kuangyin was so angry that he fainted.
Upon seeing this, Zhu Ming hurriedly cut his philtrum and swallowed the heart-saving pill.
A few minutes later, Zhao Kuangyin woke up.
Roaring and shouting:
"He brewed it, this is the Jingkang Shame!
"Two useless emperors, why don't you dare to fight a big battle with the Jin people!"
"Even if I die in battle, so what!"
"What are all these civil and military officials doing? They can't even resist the Jin people. They deserve to be captured by the Jin Kingdom!"
"My Kaifeng"
Zhao Pu was stunned that two emperors were captured.
Almost all the royal family members and several thousand ministers were taken away.
Not only was the capital emptied, but it was also burned down before they left.
As a Confucian, Zhao Pu could not imagine that a regime would treat another country like this.
In Zhao Pu's view, the Song Dynasty submitted a letter of surrender.
The State of Jin reprimanded them and then gave them some money to show its status as a great power!
This is in line with Confucianism.
Besides, this is only the first half.
There is still the second half that has not been mentioned.
What a shame it is.
What did those generals do for that the Jin people could invade their capital?
Shi Shouxin was so angry that his whole body was shaking.
It is simply the greatest shame ever!
It is also a shame for all military generals!
"I swear that I will kill all the Jin people in my lifetime!"
"Your Majesty, please issue an order. I will lead my people to destroy the Jin Dynasty after I return. I will not return to the court until the Jin people are destroyed!"
