Chapter 17 Desperate Waiting
Chapter 17 Desperate Waiting
A Zu and the other two quickly passed through the fire door and ran to the short corridor on the left side of the auditorium.
Screams and cries echoed throughout the auditorium.
The three of them ran to the exit sign, and in an instant a bright light flashed.
This was followed by a scream.
Clark turned his head and saw an electric wire extending from behind the stage. A man passing by stepped on the leaking wire and was shocked.
The other person's eyes bulged, his hair stood on end, and he looked like he was dancing.
"Run!"
A-Zu shouted at the two men, "Hurry up!"
Clark had to give up the idea of saving people and quickly ran outside with Lana.
As they were walking through the corridor, a monster suddenly stood in front of the three of them.
The other person was crouching on the ground with his back to the three people. After hearing the sound, he turned back suddenly.
When A-Zu saw the monster's horrific appearance, he couldn't help but take a deep breath.
The other person's face was covered in sticky blood, and there was a small piece of uneaten internal organs on his protruding teeth, with a few drops of blood dripping from it.
The monster was covered in blood, and its white clothes were stained with plasma.
After hearing the sound, the monster let out a low growl, stared at the three people with its gray eyes that made people feel terrified at a glance, and staggered towards them.
It was slow at first, but gradually picked up speed.
"run!"
A-Zu had already forgotten that he had laser eyes. He grabbed the hands of the two men and ran forward as fast as he could.
The three of them ran to the storage area behind the auditorium and blocked the door with force.
"Oh!"
The zombies slammed the door from the inside, and Clark and A-Zu, who were leaning against the door, were almost knocked away.
Lana, who was standing outside the door, was so frightened that her face turned pale.
The door burst open and the zombies staggered out.
At this time, the three of them had already run to the storage yard.
Lana could see rows of orange warehouses.
It is open 24 hours a day, but the gate to the storage yard is closed. There is a small password keypad on the door and it is surrounded by a high fence with barbed wire on top.
A-Zu didn't care about anything else. He jumped up and pounced on the fence like a shark. He climbed to the top of the fence in no time.
The barbed wire fence is old and obviously poorly maintained, and there is no electricity. It has long become a deaf ear - a decoration.
A-Zu bent the wire easily, but despite this, he was still pricked on the hand several times and his jeans had several holes in them.
With a "bang", he flipped over the barbed wire and landed on the other side of the fence.
The ground was hard, and when he landed he felt pain and numbness from his calves to his knees.
A Zu even suspected that he had broken something.
After jumping over to the barbed wire, A Zu looked at the warehouses bathed in bright sodium lights.
"Jump over here so I can catch you."
He said to Clark and Lana on the other side of the barbed wire.
Clark could have jumped over, but Lana looked up at the barbed wire and almost cried.
"Lana can't jump!"
"Then leave her alone!"
"No, how can we abandon our companions?"
Clark looked at Zu in astonishment.
"Because she's a burden."
Azu pointed at Lana, "She's not our family, Clark."
"she is my friend!"
Clark glared at Zu, then took Lana's hand and started to leave.
"Don't go, Clark, I can handle this."
A-Zu squatted down and stared at the barbed wire.
His laser eyes were not always effective. They would only be fired when he was in danger or emotionally unstable. He stared at the wire mesh nervously, with red light accumulating in his eyes.
But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't shoot out the laser.
With sweat dripping from his brow, he tried hard to recall the tricks his father had taught him.
Focus your mind and think back to what made you angry.
Something angry?
A Zu immediately thought of what Clark had just done, that he was about to abandon his brothers for Lana.
"Fuck!"
Driven by anger, the barbed wire was instantly cut through by his laser eyes.
Before Lana could be shocked, Clark pulled her into the storage yard.
The three of them ran through seven rows of warehouses in one breath, and then ran across five more horizontally.
The smell of decay and burning hit their nostrils. The three of them squatted behind a trash can between two warehouses and tried to curl up as small as possible.
"what is that?"
Clark asked with a trembling voice.
"Zombies. I've seen them in horror movies."
A-Zu whispered, "If you get bitten, you'll become one of them, but don't worry, Dad will come to save us."
"Are you sure, Zu?"
Clark was shaking with fear at this point.
I didn't have this feeling when I was running just now, but once I hid here, fear surged in my heart.
"I'm sure, because Dad said that if I'm in danger, he will come to save me no matter where I am."
Clark lowered his head and said, "Well, I also believe in the Godfather. The Godfather said he would protect us."
Lana, who was hiding in the innermost part, didn't say a word. She bit the back of her hand hard to prevent herself from crying out loud.
I am about to turn from Cinderella into an ugly monster, and I don’t know if my knight will come to save me.
None of the three spoke, and the air fell into deathly silence.
Clark raised his head and looked toward the auditorium.
In the distance a stream of flames shot up into the sky, with steel roof panels, wood, and paper flying all over the sky.
The air smelled of oil and smoke.
Main Street was lit up like a flashgun.
"I"
Clark suddenly whispered to Zu: "I saw it!"
There was a tremor in his voice.
A-Zu looked at him, "What did you see?"
Clark recalled the horrific scene just now, "The monster that was chasing us just now, the zombie you mentioned, he is the Godfather's cousin."
Azu swallowed.
"You mean, that Uncle Louis whose funeral we attended last time?"
"Yes, that's him. I can recognize him."
Before Clark could finish his words, he heard a low roar.
It was a low roar as if there was phlegm stuck in the throat, accompanied by a pungent and foul smell.
Realizing that it was the zombie from before, the three of them held their breath nervously, not daring to breathe.
"Click! Click!"
Louis’ footsteps echoed in the ears of several people.
Clark was filled with fear at first, but when he saw Lana behind him, he gritted his teeth, picked up the half brick at hand, and prepared to rush out immediately if there was any problem.
He had made up his mind not to surrender, and he would protect Lana and A-Zu even if he only had this half brick.
"clang!"
Suddenly!
A sharp metallic sound suddenly rang out.
Lana was shocked to see a bright flash in the night.
