Chapter 9: Wonder Building: Stonehenge
Chapter 9: Wonder Building: Stonehenge (Magic)
Polar night is a phenomenon that often occurs in the polar circle.
Sunlight will not penetrate the veil cast by the dark gods. The evil twin moons will always emit purple-blue light in the sky, spreading curses to the entire world.
The dancing and twisting aurora in the night sky represents the laughter and disdain of the dark gods. They use the most beautiful gestures to forge the most terrifying malice in the world to remind all humans how they should appear in this world.
During the polar night, the Norse people often hide in their rooms.
They would pray before their idols, begging the dark gods to have some mercy on their humble selves.
Countless sins and cruel atrocities spread in the eternal night. The evil beasts in the nightmare legends were rampant and crushed the hopes of all the Norse people.
It is precisely because of living in this icy and morbid world that the Norse people are so crazy and cruel. They will do anything to keep their species alive.
Even if it means sacrificing other species and making the future unclear.
But this phenomenon mysteriously disappeared on this polar island.
It was clearly night, the most exciting time for all twisted creations, and even the ripple-like aurora was shining in the sky, but the Norsemen stood on the snow and hills without any feeling of being corrupted.
Looking up at the double moons and the brilliant aurora in the sky, the light that could twist and mutate humans into egg-shaped objects no longer had that evil magic.
It's like a kind of lighting, a natural phenomenon.
A pale green light covered the snow fields and hills, illuminating the figures of the busy Norsemen.
They held invisible props in their hands in the snow, looked at the dark hills with their own thoughts, and then pulled large pieces of rock out of the mountains out of thin air.
The Norsemen who had accepted Leon's orders were using their full understanding of the productivity of the Ancient Saints' Laboratory to pull out huge rocks from the hills and gradually began to stand on the snowy plain.
These black rocks float in the air against all odds, complementing the aurora forged by the gods of the sky.
People down there use the productivity of nothingness to forge the magnificent wonders of existence in their minds.
Pieces of stone began to float and sink in the void. As the boulders were gradually built up, everyone even felt that there seemed to be some strange, whispering sounds coming from around them.
The structure of the great wonder was pulling all the magical energy around it, even causing a slight fluctuation in the veil of reality and illusion. The demons in the void were whispering, and their malicious gazes were enough to make any unsuspecting ordinary person scream like crazy.
However, to these Norscans who were manipulating the creations of the Old Ones, the demon's gaze was ridiculous.
They are carrying out the will of the Old Ones, and no one can stop them.
"I thought I was dead at first, Ulfric."
The man with the wolfskin hood burped loudly, then stood beside Ulfric with a relaxed look, looking at the floating Stonehenge in the sky and said with a smile:
"It's hard to imagine that not even a day has passed. In the morning we were worried about lunch, but now we are enjoying the food of the gods and manipulating mythical props to create wonders."
"Indeed, I even thought he wanted to feed and feed us so that we could be sacrificed."
Looking at the huge rock trembling under the green aurora and emitting strange magical power, Ulfric felt the instinct of control in his mind and took a deep breath on the ice field.
This is something that was impossible in the past.
When the aurora arrives and two moons rise together, all negative emotions and thoughts will turn into nightmares that erode people's hearts.
But what about now?
The Norsemen ate the best food they could ever dream of, manipulated invisible divine powers, and began to forge the great wonders of the legends, even under the moonlight.
There is probably only one answer.
"Because he is a god, although he is definitely not a god who understands human hearts."
Some fragments fell off in midair, and indescribable patterns began to shine on the suspended boulders. Ulfric manipulated his tools and said with certainty:
"He just doesn't understand the human heart, that's how I feel. He just can't relate to us."
"Maybe he just doesn't care?"
"He should care. At least when he said the contract and the promise to love humans, it shouldn't be false. But I always feel that there seems to be something wrong with his love."
"You have given us such a great favor, but you still say this. Isn't it a bit too much?"
"Of course I know it's excessive, but it all just doesn't make sense."
Looking at the floating boulders in the sky that were gradually peeling off their surface and leaving mysterious patterns, Ulfric even gnashed his teeth. "If he really loves us, then at least we shouldn't come out here in the middle of the night to build a weird stone circle.
Even, damn, why did we know how to build Stonehenge? Why did I know how to trim stones using the tools of the gods?
I feel like I'm better at building this thing than I am at touching a pussy."
"I only hope today is not a dream, Ulfric. If it is a dream, it would be too cruel for us."
"Of course this isn't a dream. Nobody's dreams are this noisy."
Listening to the increasingly clear whispers from another world coming from his ears, Ulfric's cheek twitched and he revealed a somewhat dissatisfied expression.
"After all, in order to build this Stonehenge, we still need to exercise."
And the moment Ulfric finished speaking, a huge crack suddenly appeared in the center of the snowfield surrounded by all the huge rocks.
A terrifying and vicious aura came from the crack, which did not seem to be a natural creation at all. A huge demon that was several meters tall crawled out of the crack, cursing.
His gaze was like a sulfurous flame, and his voice was like a vicious curse. The surroundings were filled with exploding shadows. Even the mere footprints on the snowy plains set the snowy plains at his feet ablaze with his fierce brutality and magic.
The giant looked at the pumice and Norsemen around it and roared in anger.
"You really don't know how to live or die! Human! How dare you lock all the magic power around you?! How dare you be so bold!"
"I don't think it has anything to do with us."
Ulfric took off the greatsword from his back, looked at the roaring giant demon and shrugged.
“After all, we are just following orders. I don’t know why this thing has to be done this way or what it can accomplish.
But you are going to die.”
"What? How dare you, a lowly insect—"
Before the huge shadow that walked out of the void could even let out a roar, the sword in Ulfric's hand was instantly thrown out by him, piercing through the tall demon's skull in the blink of an eye.
The huge burning demon that was several meters tall fell to the ground without a sound.
The Norsemen present at the scene were not even a bit surprised by this scene and continued to build the floating Stonehenge.
For two reasons.
The first reason is that according to their architectural knowledge, in order to forge this great magical Stonehenge, each stone needs a huge demon to provide the energy to operate it. This is a necessary construction process.
The second reason is simpler. They feel that no one can defeat Ulfric.
"If you have any objections, go find our boss, Devil Bro. I'm just a worker.
But it seems that you only dare to look for me."
Stepping on the demon's huge head, Ulfric slowly pulled out the giant sword from its brain and commented indifferently.
And the demon of death turned into a handful of shadows in the blink of an eye, howling in an unnatural form, and was drawn into the boulders floating in the sky, and instantly turned into a brand, shining with light.
"There are ten left."
Dragging the sword aside and placing it on the stone, Ulfric sat on the edge, took out his treasured wine from his arms, took a sip, and slowly breathed a sigh of relief.
"...Damn, I might as well drink it in the Land of Advent."
Bathed in the light of the evil moon, Ulfric commented somewhat indignantly.
And soon, the soft and subtle whispers sounded in my ears again.
Construction is about to begin again.
