Chapter 116 Keeping the Appointment (Part Two)

“That makes sense.” Cheng Mai put away her fist. Some people didn’t mention a word about why she lost her job. What a scumbag!

Shang Xingjian didn't think there was anything wrong with himself; instead, he was checking what the most expensive dish at that hotel was.

Cheng Mai: "Isn't it the one with the best reputation?"

"You get what you pay for, and there's nothing wrong with buying expensive things." Merchant Jian has his own set of theories: "Life is nothing more than eating and drinking. If you can live these two things well, you will have no regrets in this life."

Cheng Mai glanced at his phone and roughly understood why the other gods didn't seem to have a good relationship with Shang Xingjian.

After all, she also wanted to hit someone.

Upon arriving at the hotel, the waiter led them into a private room. Zhu Biao and the others had not yet arrived, but Shang Xingjian did not mind. He simply asked the waiter to serve the dishes first.

The waiter didn't ask any further questions and went to prepare the food.

Cheng Mai sat down and looked at the surrounding decor. There was a reason why it was expensive.

After the dishes were served, Shang Xingjian really started eating by himself, and he even remembered to peel a shrimp for Cheng Mai, saying, "Just eat yours. If you need something from someone, you should have the attitude of someone who needs something from you."

Cheng Mai wasn't as thick-skinned as him; instead, she was curious about his words. "What do you mean?"

"It means the person has arrived," Shang Xingjian said, gesturing for her to look towards the door.

Cheng Mai looked over in the direction he was looking. Zhu Biao was walking in front, and a white-skinned man came in later, pushing a wheelchair. The focus was on the man sitting in the wheelchair.

The man had skin as white as snow, and his white hair hung down to his waist. He sat in a wheelchair with his eyes closed, showing no signs of life, yet also no signs of death.

Cheng Mai kept looking at him, instinctively feeling that he was familiar, even though she had no memory of him.

Lord Silan, the ruler of all things in the ocean, has silver hair and a gentle demeanor in every gesture.

"Boss Shang, Mr. Cheng, sorry to keep you waiting. This is Mr. Smith, whom I told you about, and..." Zhu Biao looked at the sleeping beauty in the wheelchair and didn't know how to introduce him for a moment.

“Lan, his name is Lan.” Smith’s Chinese wasn’t very good, but it was clear that he had practiced it.

“He is my benefactor.” Smith knew they knew about his relationship with Lan, but he still said it again to show how much he cared about Lan.

Cheng Mai kept his eyes on Si Lan and only listened to Mr. Smith's introduction briefly.

“His name is Si Lan.” Cheng Mai looked at Si Lan and corrected Smith.

Lord Silan was once the guardian deity of the ocean in this world.

“Si Lan?” Smith repeated the name slowly and deliberately, his brows relaxing slightly. “You really know him, don’t you?”

From Lan's sensitivity to that tea set, he knew he should come here.

Cheng Mai finally withdrew his gaze from Si Lan and turned to look at Shang Xingjian, who was still eating.

Shang Xingjian seemed to want to wait until he had almost finished eating before he was willing to spare his attention for these people, or rather, he looked at Si Lan.

Si Lan remained asleep. Shang Xingjian frowned; the situation seemed more troublesome than he had imagined.

"Has he always been like this?" Cheng Mai saw through Shang Xingjian's thoughts, so he took the initiative to ask Smith.

"Come, come, let's sit down and talk, we can eat and talk at the same time." Zhu Biao, acting as the middleman, warmly and considerately made things easy for everyone. After Mr. Smith sat down, he said, "He had been in a deep sleep for a while. I consulted many doctors, but nothing worked. Later, I even consulted a wizard. However, not long ago, I accidentally bought a tea set and placed it in Lan's room. I noticed that he started to move around a bit, so I contacted Mr. Zhu. After hearing some things about you from Mr. Zhu, I felt that I should bring him to see you."

He spoke slowly, but Cheng Mai could understand him.

"Just because he saved you back then?" Cheng Mai was very curious that this foreigner would go to such lengths because of a life-saving favor.

Smith looked at Si Lan with a gaze that was anything but innocent.

Cheng Mai: "..." Is this the legendary situation where one has to repay a handsome man's life-saving grace with their body?
"Can you save him?" Smith asked, his eyes filled with eagerness.

Cheng Mai was uncertain, so he looked at the merchant's assistant.

Shang Xingjian raised his hand and placed it on Si Lan's wrist. His divine power flowed through Si Lan's meridians, yet he could not find a trace of his divine essence.

Shang Xingjian's expression grew increasingly solemn. When he discovered Cheng Ming, Cheng Ming's divine status had already been restored. He had assumed that the other gods were simply not yet fully awake, and that their divine statuses should be intact.

Even Cheng Mai's divine essence is only dormant and he cannot wake up for the time being.

Cheng Mai kept her eyes on Shang Xingjian, so she naturally didn't miss any of his expressions. She had almost never seen this kind of look on Shang Xingjian's face before.

"Shopkeeper's Note?"

Shang Xingjian withdrew his hand. "Shen Luo's injuries haven't fully healed yet. I'll take you to Qingfan's place. I need to go to the Arctic."

He wanted to go find Si Lan's divine status himself.

Cheng Mai was shocked and confused, even wondering if he had lost his mind from the shock of what he was seeing.

"Are you just looking for trouble?" Putting aside how despicable it was that her colleague wanted to be her father and even took action, she couldn't accept Cheng Ming taking over the Cheng Group so quickly.

“I’ll go to the Arctic with you,” Cheng Mai decided immediately. “There’s nothing I need to do lately. Things in Yuncheng are progressing steadily, and even Zhi Huihui’s matter won’t be finished for a few more days.”

So it's not a big problem for her to leave for a few days.

Shang Xingjian raised an eyebrow slightly, "So reluctant to part with me?"

Zhu Biao: "..." His old man is blind.

Smith: "..." Even though he's a foreigner, he can still understand it!

“You’re going to the Arctic, and I can go with you. The Arctic is vast, but I can tell you where Lan saved me.” Smith immediately offered himself, clearly taking the matter very seriously.

The business manager had no objection to Smith going, but he was concerned about Cheng Mai.

"It's cold over there, you stay here." Shang Xingjian didn't want her to go and freeze.

"I'm going." She'd rather freeze than stay and face Cheng Ming. "Just think of it as me being reluctant to let you go. If you don't let me go, I'll go by myself. Anyway, transportation is so convenient now, and my passport shouldn't have expired yet. You can decide for yourself."

Shang Xingjian was amused by her shameless behavior; she really didn't care about what she said in order to achieve her goal.

“Young Master Cheng, it is indeed very cold over there, and Boss Shang will definitely be back soon, so why don’t we…” Zhu Biao tried to persuade him, but before he could finish speaking, Cheng Mai glanced at him, and Zhu Biao immediately changed his mind and said, “Boss Shang is so capable, keeping him warm is definitely not a problem, right, Boss Shang?”

Shang Xingjian raised an eyebrow. Zhu Biao, that lackey, was indeed as cunning as ever.
