Fog Returns to the Capital

Chapter 1 First meeting

Chapter 1 First meeting
"...She doesn't like me seeing you, so let's not see each other again."

When Lin Yi spoke these words in a low voice, his eyes were somewhat unfocused.

Especially when he saw the momentary freeze on Li Wu's face, he guiltily looked away.

I dare not look at her.

Li Wu stared blankly at Lin Yi, her whole body stiffening for a few seconds, but she quickly came back to her senses.

When she spoke, she tried to keep her tone calm, "People strive for higher positions, water flows downhill. I understand..."

She understands this better than anyone else.

However, the slight tremor in the last word betrayed her emotions.

“Lili, I…”

A hint of guilt flashed across Lin Yi's eyes. He was about to say something when the door to the private room behind him suddenly opened.

An arrogant female voice followed—

"Still not resolved? Miss Gu has been waiting for you for ages..."

A woman dressed in the latest designer clothes appeared at the door of the private room. Her casual gaze stopped abruptly when she saw Li Wu's face.

There was a moment of breathtaking beauty.

The young girl, dressed in a simple dress, stood cleanly in the dim, hazy light.

Her petite, slightly immature features were beautiful and lively, and her snow-white skin was clear and translucent, seemingly even brighter than the moonlight.

Her eyes and brows are pure and clear, possessing a hazy beauty reminiscent of the misty rain of Jiangnan, easily evoking images of "first love" or "white moonlight."

It's so captivating that you can't take your eyes off it.

Lin Yi was the first to react. He didn't respond to the woman's words, nor did he look at Li Wu. His voice was hoarseer than before, "Just... just consider it my apology to you!"

The words fell.

Whether he was afraid the people in the private room would get impatient or he was too afraid to face Li Wu again, Lin Yi turned and left in a hurry after he finished speaking.

Just before the heavy, antique-style wooden door closed, the woman standing at the door of the private room unexpectedly turned back and glanced at Li Wu again.

……

The sky over Beijing is always gloomy and heavy.

The thick, heavy clouds seemed to shroud the surroundings in a gray veil, and the chilly autumn wind swept through the treetops.

Li Wu unconsciously looked down and saw a yellowed sycamore leaf that had fallen onto her shoe at some point.

It is old and decayed, and its original texture is no longer visible.

Thinking about it carefully, the three months she spent with Lin Yi seemed no different from before they were together, except for the addition of the title "boyfriend and girlfriend." But no matter what, Lin Yi was one of the few acts of kindness she had felt in the year or so she had been in the entertainment industry.

She always knew he wanted to climb the social ladder, so...

As if suddenly realizing something, Li Wu subconsciously turned around to look—

Not far away, by the elegant second-floor window, a man was standing there at some point.

He wore a simple, snow-white shirt, leaning back with a tailored fit. His features were refined and elegant, exuding a calm and detached air as if he were indifferent to the world's hustle and bustle.

He was simply standing there, doing nothing, yet he effortlessly exuded an unattainable nobility. It was as if someone like him was born to stand atop the clouds, untouched by the dust of the world.

I don't know how long he stood there.

Li Wu's heart skipped a beat for no reason, and her mind went blank for a second or two.

"What are you looking at? Everyone in the room is waiting for you."

Someone walked towards the man, and as they spoke, they seemed to be looking down in the direction of his gaze.

Upon hearing this, the tall, jade-like man turned slightly to the side. He said something, and his tall, imposing figure naturally blocked the other person's view that was about to look down.

As they spoke calmly and composedly, the two left one after the other.

Li Wu stood in the courtyard.

When I came to my senses and looked out again, there was no one left by the window.

The divine face she had glimpsed just seconds before seemed like nothing more than a hallucination.

As a gust of cold wind suddenly swept in, Li Wu, whose skirt fluttered in the breeze, was abruptly awakened by the chill, and a faint sadness of being "dumped" arose in her heart.

Although it was fleeting.

A few strands of hair, floating messily in the wind, brushed against Li Wu's fair and delicate face.

She looked up at the antique-style courtyard in front of her, which was bustling and retro, yet still exuded an air of luxury.

He seemed out of place standing alone at the bottom of the steps.

Ignoring her already messed-up hair.

Li Wu simply tightened her coat, turned against the wind, and quietly left alone.

You shouldn't even be asking why.

Li Wu thought.
