"This looks like Ling Xiao?" On the plane to China, An Jinyue suddenly asked her assistant Ke Jue.

She's been so busy these past few months that she's had almost no time to pay attention to those trivial matters outside of work.

Now that things abroad have come to an end, I finally had some free time on my way back home. I logged onto my personal social media account and checked what was happening online, and happened to see photos of Chu Lingxiao and Lan Fangxue. Because Lan Fangxue is a female celebrity, beautiful and quite popular, even the slightest thing she does easily attracts attention.

Given her status and personality, she doesn't need to hide these things at all. Although the two haven't officially announced their relationship, they don't avoid people, and it's easy for them to be photographed clearly.

Chu Lingxiao's identity was quickly revealed; he was a handsome, eligible bachelor, and the two of them looked like a match made in heaven. Even Lan Fangxue's fans thought Chu Lingxiao was quite good, and now they were just waiting for their response.

“This is indeed President Chu.” Ke Jue glanced at him and said with certainty, “Would Chairman An like to know more about this? The fact that it has gone viral online and the buzz hasn’t died down shows that President Chu is serious.”

"Why don't you find out what happened?" An Jinyue said. "Ling Xiao is an adult. He should know what he likes. As long as his character is good, his status is not important."

“I just looked at some information about this female celebrity, and she seems to have a pretty good reputation and a straightforward personality,” An Jinyue added. “To maintain this kind of personality in the entertainment industry, she either has confidence or someone is protecting her. You should find out what’s going on.”

If it's someone who has found a powerful backer, even An Jinyue, who doesn't care much about background, would still be somewhat bothered. Because such a person might not be sincere in seeking out Chu Lingxiao; they might just be looking for a new patron.

Of course, she wouldn't interfere too much with the final outcome. It mainly depended on Chu Lingxiao's performance. If he had the ability to sit in the position of CEO of An's Group without making mistakes, without being swayed by others, and could lead An's Group to continue its growth and even expand, then he could decide what kind of wife he wanted to marry.

She believed that a qualified CEO of the An Group would not be a particularly foolish person.

"Okay, Chairman An," Ke Jue replied and quickly got to work.

An hour later, An Jinyue woke up and saw Ke Jue next to her looking like he had something to say. She asked, "Did you find out?"

“Yes, Chairman An, this Lan Fangxue is quite someone. She’s the eldest daughter of the Lan family in Haicheng,” Ke Jue said. “As far as I know, she’s a loyal customer of the eldest daughter, and the two of them have become good friends. Regardless of her background, appearance, or character, she’s definitely fine. Chairman An can rest assured.”

An Jinyue nodded gently, her expression remaining calm. She was not excited by the result, only slightly surprised.

"In that case, after we get back, should Chairman An ask President Chu to bring the person back for a meal?" Ke Jue asked.

An Jinyue smiled and said, "We've only just started talking, what's the rush? Inviting someone over for dinner so urgently makes everyone uncomfortable. Let them develop their own relationship. You can't rush things. When Ling Xiao feels the time is right, he'll bring her back. I'll just help him make the arrangements then."

“That’s true.” Ke Jue smiled and added, “President Chu is still young, there’s no need to rush.”

An Jinyue nodded gently. To be honest, she was still very happy to know that her son was dating someone, and that he seemed serious about it. Because she had always been looking forward to a girl from the An family who would take her surname.

If it weren't for the perilous situation she faced during childbirth—and according to the doctor, the risk of another pregnancy remaining high—she might have chosen to have another daughter. As someone from the upper class, she naturally had many ways to have a biological daughter, but she didn't choose those methods.

She's a rather easygoing person who goes with the flow and doesn't force things. In business, haggling over prices, going back and forth, even putting pressure on others is common practice; if you don't advance, you retreat, and if you don't act, others will, there's no room for compromise. However, she doesn't want to cross the line into using extreme measures to oppress or exploit someone.

Chu Lianghui noticed her disappointment and suggested they adopt a girl so her son would have a companion. She considered it; having only one child was indeed a bit lonely, and she didn't want to cross any boundaries, so she agreed. The adopted girl was smart and well-behaved, and certainly wouldn't cause any trouble.

Perhaps it's because he spent too much time in the orphanage that he's become too mature.

At that time, she was busy with work, so Chu Lianghui was the one who mainly took care of the family.

Even with both a son and a daughter, she still felt uneasy. Her children were close to her, but not nearly as close to Chu Lianghui. She knew that it was because she was too busy and too serious; it was normal for her children to be both close to and afraid of her.

It's just that things weren't quite what she expected, and she was slightly disappointed.

As children grow up, this barrier becomes more pronounced.

Compared to ordinary families, she seems to play the role of father more in her life. Therefore, she sometimes longs for a child to settle down with and take her surname. By then, Chu Lingxiao will be able to stand on his own, and she will definitely spend much more time with the child.

She can properly teach her grandchildren and make up for what she lacked in the past.

As for why the children all took Chu Lianghui's surname, the main reason was that Chu Lianghui's parents were quite reasonable, only a little stubborn about the surname. She simply agreed to it; with the An family in her hands, the children's surname wasn't that important to her.

If she is satisfied, Chu Lingxiao will definitely inherit the An family business.

If she's not satisfied, no one can take her away.

A secondary reason is that she doesn't really care whether her son takes her surname or not.

She thought about it for a moment and realized that if it were a daughter, she probably wouldn't agree.

Thinking of this, An Jinyue chuckled to herself. She did have her own biases, though they weren't as obvious on the surface. Perhaps it was because she shared her mother's surname. The An family's empire was essentially built by her mother.

She actually had a secret: she had noticed that her children weren't very close to her, so she arranged for a paternity test to be done on them. The test confirmed that there was no problem, and only then was she relieved.

“Last time I heard Ahui say that the theme song he wrote for a martial arts drama became a hit along with the drama itself. What drama is it?” An Jinyue snapped out of her thoughts and laughed. “I have some free time now, so I’ll watch it to pass the time. It reminds me of when I was a kid, I would watch good TV dramas and I couldn’t even hear my mom talking.”

Ke Jue paused for a moment and said, "Please wait a moment, Mr. An, let me take a look."

“I found it, this should be the one, right?” An Jinyue said. “The lyricist and composer of the theme song is indeed Ahui.”

Ke Jue glanced at it, pursed her lips slightly, and said, "Probably." (End of Chapter)
