The next morning at 4:30, before dawn, Yue Feng got up early.

After getting dressed, getting off the kang (heated brick bed), and washing their faces, Wang Xiaona went to each of the guests' rooms to knock on doors and wake everyone up. Once everyone had dressed, Wang Xiaona had prepared breakfast.

The freshly made fried dough sticks, served with hot and sour soup, were a delicious and satisfying meal for a group of burly men, both Chinese and Americans.

After eating and drinking their fill and counting the number of people, Yue Feng led everyone, carrying weapons, up the mountain by means of transportation.

Yue Feng and his group had been to Deer Valley more than once a year and were already very familiar with the route. They could drive along Chaiji Road for most of the way.

The four brothers of Yuefeng Hunting Team all set off, riding tricycles and snowmobiles, leading the cars of the guests behind them directly up the mountain along the Chaiji Road.

After passing the pass behind the mountain, Yue Feng first went to the mountain breeding farm to pick up Canglong and his pack of hunting dogs. Then, he followed the winding mountain road straight to the mountain path closest to Deer Valley.

An hour and a half later, just as dawn was breaking, the motorcycle vehicle that Yue Feng and his group were leading the way stopped at the end of Chaiji Road.

Yue Feng got out of the car, rubbed his slightly frozen hands, and then gestured for the rest of the convoy to get out of their cars.

Zhang Chaochao and Feng Huanping were the first to get out of the car and head towards Yue Feng.

"Xiaofeng, what's going on?" Zhang Chaochao asked.

“We’ve reached the end of Chaiji Road. There’s no road ahead, so we’ll have to walk!” Yue Feng answered truthfully.

"How much longer is it on foot to get to the hunting ground you mentioned?"

Yue Feng roughly estimated and replied, "The snowy mountain path hasn't been cleared yet, it will probably take about forty minutes to an hour to walk! Everyone, pack your things, lock your bikes, and keep going!"

"Okay, I'll let Evan and the others know!"

"OK!"

Soon, Zhang Chaochao went to greet the Americans in the car behind. After a brief conversation, Evan and his two companions, along with the translator, all got off the car.

As the Americans approached, Yue Feng subconsciously glanced at them and frowned slightly.

"Xiao Tao, did you bring any extra leg wraps?"

"Huh? I brought it with me. What do you need it for?" Xiao Tao replied.

“Take out the extra leg wraps. Evan and the other two didn’t wear leg wraps. I forgot to remind them of that when we set off!” Yue Feng said.

"Oh, that's enough. We brought several sets!"

Soon, Xiao Tao and the three brothers, Xiao Wen and Xiao Wu, each took out new spare leg wraps from the inner pocket of their bags and handed them to Yue Feng.

“Evan, Robert, and Mr. Allen, you haven’t put on your leg wraps! You need to put them on before you continue walking!” Yue Feng walked up to them, waving the roll of leg wraps in his hand, and said politely.

"What's this? What's the use of leg wraps?" Evan scratched his head, not understanding Yue Feng's intention.

Yue Feng pointed to the leg wraps on his legs and explained, "We're hunting on foot, and we'll be walking a long way. If we don't wear leg wraps, our calves are very prone to cramps. Plus, the snow in the mountains is quite thick, and it's easy for it to seep into our shoes through our trousers and cause frostbite! We brought spares, so let's put the leg wraps on for you first!"

"can!"

"Xiao Tao, come and help!" After receiving permission, Yue Feng immediately began to call people to tie leg wraps for the three people.

The trick of tying leg wraps was still quite new to the foreigners. They watched as Yue Feng led his men to unfold the strips of cloth, then, starting from the edge, wrapped them around the calves in both directions to tighten the trouser legs, and finally neatly tied them in knots to secure them.

"Jump in place once and see how tight it feels. Does it feel particularly constricting?" Yue Feng reminded him.

The three of them jumped up and down a few times: "No problem, it's a little restrictive, but not too tight!"

"That's good! The next step is to walk to Deer Valley. Before the official hunt begins, I'd like to give everyone a heads-up!" Yue Feng said, seizing the opportunity.

"You're the captain, you speak!"

"Hunting is not child's play. Once you're in combat mode, everyone must be on high alert and always prioritize your own safety! I will have the hunting team protect you. Never put yourself in danger!"

According to regulations, you cannot use firearms, but you can carry a few knives for self-defense! Xiao Tao, distribute the weapons!

After Yue Feng briefly emphasized safety, Xiao Tao opened his satchel and distributed the weapons he had prepared in advance to everyone.

Five sharpened blades gleamed coldly in the sunlight; they were all forged from the finest steel.

"Is this a self-defense knife? It looks so cool!"

Evan took the weapon, waved it a few times in the air, and seemed very excited.

Those who engage in falconry also share a passion for hunting and are familiar with weapons and knives, but they are not very familiar with weapons like the traditional Northeastern katana.

Yue Feng explained, "In Northeast China, this weapon is called a 'qin dao' (侵刀), which is a multi-functional outdoor hunting knife! When held in hand, it can be used for slashing, thrusting, skinning, deboning, and butchering. If needed in combat, it can also be used to cut down a small tree, attach the blade to the trunk, and turn it into a spear!"

While they were talking, Yue Feng, carrying a scalpel, casually walked to a piece of hardwood of suitable thickness, quickly chopped it down, and then attached the handle to his scalpel.

Yue Feng gripped the tree trunk with both hands and assumed a horse stance. The dagger with the added handle transformed into a spear. He slowly demonstrated a thrusting motion for the group.

"This...this style of weapon is very practical!" Robert couldn't help but exclaim upon seeing this.

"I also want to put a handle on my weapon!!" Evan demanded, holding up his dagger.

"If it has a handle, it will easily get in the way when crossing the forest! These small trees are readily available, and we can just gather them on the spot!" Yue Feng explained.

"Oh, okay! You're right!"

After distributing the weapons and explaining the general precautions, Yue Feng called out, "Let's go! Everyone, stay with the group, let's set off!"

After giving the greetings, Yue Feng took out the big black eagle and the little white spear from the back seat, took off his hat, and with a flick of his arm, the two eagles took off from the spot and quickly hovered above his head, following the movement of the team.

The guests, including Zhang Chaochao, all knew that Yuefeng's eagles could hunt and follow for long periods of time, but this was the first time they had actually followed them in a real battle on the mountain.

Everyone instinctively looked up at the eagles, only to find two falcons circling overhead, very stable, their performance in actual combat far exceeding the demonstration at the exhibition.

With a shout, Yue Feng led the group into the vast expanse of white snow, taking a shortcut straight to Deer Valley.

I don't know if it's because there are more wild animals in the nearby mountains this year, but there are no traces of people walking along the way in Luming Valley.

The vast expanse of snow, along with the gradually thinning forest, soon opened up into a wide-open vista. During their journey, Canglong and his gang of henchmen constantly moved to Yue Feng's left and right, providing protection.

Until a few scattered footprints began to appear on the ground.

"Boss, there's a trail!" Xiao Tao said, pointing to a line of footprints not far away.

Yue Feng stopped and glanced at the tracks: "It should be a lone fox or some other kind of prey! This trail is quite old, at least a day or two old, the edges of the footprints are already blunted! It's not worth chasing!"

"Alright! Let's go to the edge of the forest in Deer Valley. The snow this year is much heavier than last year!" Xiao Tao couldn't help but exclaim.

"The snow is indeed heavy. On the gentle slopes facing the wind, it's more than 20 centimeters deep. Once you get down into the valley, the deepest parts are probably more than half a meter deep!" Yue Feng responded, looking around and exclaiming.

"How about we all cut down a walking stick and carry it with us? Let's continue out of the forest!"

"Alright, cut one off, give it to a few of them, and put the cleavers on the block!"

"Okay!" Xiaowen replied and began searching for a suitable small tree stump to cut.

At this juncture, Evan and Robert approached and asked, "Captain Yue Feng, how far is it from the hunting ground you mentioned?"

Yue Feng pointed to the vast expanse of white snow in the distance: "Once we leave the forest edge, we'll be in the upper reaches of Deer Cry Valley!"

Beneath the snow lies a frozen expanse; in summer, this area would be a high-altitude reservoir and river! Now the water is frozen, allowing people and other animals to cross freely!

"I see! This kind of terrain and environment is indeed suitable for deer to roam! In my hometown in North America, there are also deer roaming in the relatively sparse forest areas!"

"Almost there. Do you see the short grass peeking out from the snow in the distance? It's a clump of wild grass that's almost a meter tall, but after being covered by snow, less than half of it is showing!"

The dry leaves and tender branches that the deer used to feed on in winter are mostly buried by snow, so they come here to spend the winter!

"That makes perfect sense!"

After chatting for a while, Xiaowen and Xiaotao placed their hunting knives on wooden poles so they could carry them with one hand and use them as walking sticks to prevent them from falling.

"Keep going! After walking for another half hour or so, we'll cross this forest edge and reach our target hunting ground!"

Yue Feng gave a shout and walked at the front, leading the group forward.

To be fair, these Americans were all in pretty good physical condition. Throughout the walk, Yue Feng hardly slowed down, but they all kept up. Judging from their breathing rate and condition, they were even slightly better than Zhang Chaochao and Feng Huanping.

Half an hour later, the group descended into the valley along a sloping earthen ridge, and suddenly the world changed, and the scenery in their field of vision was completely transformed.

Once they reached a relatively flat area, Canglong and his many henchmen from the Dog Gang began to run wildly through the snow.

The snow crust had begun to freeze solid, making it somewhat difficult for the dog to run on it, but it could still manage to run. The general situation was similar to Yue Feng's prediction.

“This is a relatively flat upstream area! There are all kinds of short grass under the snow! The deer can’t find food here, so they will definitely move downstream! Let’s continue down!!” Yue Feng bent down and dug away the snow crust to reveal the short grass that had been flattened by the snow.

"Can eagles spot deer in the distance? I heard you say before that our eagles, besides participating in battles, can also search ahead, give warnings, and guide the way!" Evan seized the opportunity to ask.

Yue Feng smiled and nodded: "Of course, if an eagle spots prey in its field of vision, it will definitely call out to warn others! Conversely, if they remain quiet, there are probably no medium to large-sized prey around!"

No sooner had he finished speaking than the large black eagle that had been following him overhead let out a sharp, cawing cry. Yue Feng frowned and looked up.

Upon hearing the warning from the black eagle, the alpha dog Canglong, who had been running around wildly just a moment ago, instantly calmed down, looked up in the direction the black eagle was calling, and charged towards the direction it was calling.

"The eagle seems to have spotted something! Dog, head over and provide support! Everyone, keep up and don't fall behind!"

Yue Feng took a deep breath and quickened his pace toward Ying Fei.

After speaking, Yue Feng took long strides and began to accelerate, sprinting towards the area ahead.

Meanwhile, the black eagle spotted a small group of four roe deer from at least a mile away.

In the herd of roe deer, there was a large male roe deer, a female roe deer, and the remaining two were half-grown roe deer cubs from that year.

This small group, probably naive and clueless without any prior experience with hawks and hounds, didn't react at all to the approaching hawks screeching overhead. They continued to nibble on the exposed tips of the grass on the opposite bank.

Soon, the big black eagle flew overhead, turned around, and kicked the lead roe deer in the rear.

The male roe deer, in pain, began to run wildly to the south, directly towards the direction from which Canglong and his gang of dogs were chasing after it.

This is where things get interesting. Big Black Eagle and Little White Spear clearly intend to drive their prey away, frequently swooping down and feigning attacks, chasing the prey towards the direction the dog gang is charging from.

When the azure dragon was less than a hundred meters away from the roe deer, the male roe deer realized that a pack of hunters' dogs was approaching. It ran wildly, cutting an arc as it turned and fled.

At this moment, the black eagle stopped its feigned attack and swooped down towards the male roe deer, aiming for the back of its head and delivering a kick.

The roe deer paused slightly after being kicked, but continued its mad dash. The falcon's full-force strike was slightly weaker than its size would have been, and wouldn't have caused serious injury.

On the other side, Yue Feng led the group, panting heavily, and saw in the distance that several black dots in the snow were about to engage the Dog Gang.

"It's a small herd of roe deer! The eagle has chased them over! Everyone run, or you'll see the dogs and the eagle hunting together!"

Yue Feng shouted a reminder at the top of his lungs, then pointed in the direction ahead.

With the presence of eagles, it is much easier for the dog gang to bully roe deer.

The big black eagle and the little white spear swooped down several times, kicking and punching the two half-grown roe deer cubs to the ground. Then they began to frequently attack the largest male roe deer with horns on its head.

Although this male roe deer was a bit clumsy, it wasn't stupid. After being kicked on the back of the head, it learned its lesson. Several times when the black eagle swooped down, it immediately lowered its head and maintained a defensive posture with its antlers. The black eagle wanted to peck out its eyes and blind it, but the risk was too great, and it couldn't find a suitable opportunity.

After several attempts, the big black eagle stopped persisting and repeatedly swooped down to feign attacks and drive the dog away, waiting for its underlings to engage in direct combat.

From a distance, Canglong saw that Black Eagle had entangled a roe deer. He abandoned several other prey nearby and charged ahead.

The top-class hunting dogs, when they started running, seemed to be flying low over the snow crust. They leaped several meters away and bit the male roe deer's neck, using the momentum to throw the large male roe deer to the ground.

Before it could get up again, the other hunting dogs beside it swarmed forward and pinned the male roe deer to the spot, rendering it unable to move.

The entire battle, from spotting the prey to capturing it, took less than five minutes. Yue Feng and his group witnessed firsthand the perfect performance of the falcon and hunting dogs in actual combat.

Upon reaching them, all the guests who had followed them up the mountain were panting heavily, utterly astonished by the coordinated actions of the hounds. (End of Chapter)
