Chapter 1 Baiyun Temple

Shuchuan, Baiyun Mountain.

In the evening, the sky was dim, cold and green. On one side of the mountain top was a half-circle of red sun, floating in the sky, and on the other side was an uncircled ice wheel, far above the ridge.

White smoke rose from the small village at the foot of the mountain, and a few sparse tourists were scattered among the mountains in twos and threes.

There is a Baiyun Temple deep in the clouds on the top of the mountain. The plaque at the gate of the temple has become so mottled that its original color can no longer be seen.

In front of the hall with a heavy sense of history, several strong men stood at the door and surrounded a young Taoist priest.

The leader, Wang Xin, spat and looked the young man up and down carefully.

"Damn Taoist priest, you said I'm going to have a bloody disaster today?! Damn it, believe it or not, I'll let you experience what a bloody disaster is right now?"

The young Taoist priest pretended to be calm and looked at the burly men who had gathered around him. He shook his head and said, "I have said what I need to say. Please do as you please."

After saying this, he put away the lottery ticket box and wanted to leave through the crowd.

This behavior further confirmed his fraudulent behavior in the eyes of everyone and was a sign of guilty conscience.

Wang Xin was still furious, and he stood in front of the young Taoist priest with his hand, looking unfriendly.

"No, you are such a wicked Taoist priest. You came up to me and said that I would have a bloody disaster. How can you curse me like that?"

The porter at the back also echoed, "That's right, I've said it before, the Taoist temples nowadays are all scams, there are no masters anymore, and the interpretations are all this crap... First they say there's a bloody disaster to scare people, and then they ask you to pay money to get rid of the disaster.

But you, a Taoist priest, are too much. The old man in the family is devoted to Taoism and asked his grandson to work hard to bring things up. You still want to cheat him. You are such a bastard!"

As he spoke, the man glanced at the young Taoist priest with disdain, and when he said the word "liar", his voice was obviously several pitches higher.

Several people were talking to each other, and the noise immediately drowned out the Taoist temple.

A conflict was about to break out, but fortunately a girl wearing glasses in the crowd pulled Wang Xin, and Wang Xin reluctantly gave way.

The young Taoist priest bowed to express his gratitude, then turned and left.

"Cousin, why are you pulling me? I must teach him a lesson today!" Wang Xin said hatefully.

The girl was Wang Xin’s cousin Yang Yingying. She was wearing a white lapel sweatshirt and a neat high ponytail, looking very clean and refreshed.

Yang Yingying shook her head and said, "Wang Xin, forget it. After all, this is a quiet place in the Taoist temple. He just said one sentence. We didn't spend any money, so let's be merciful."

The young Taoist priest, who had walked not far, felt warmed in his heart when he heard Yang Yingying's help, but he almost stumbled and fell.

"What a pity! I originally thought this young Taoist priest was handsome, but I didn't expect that he didn't follow the right path, didn't practice Taoism, and only knew some tricks to deceive people..."

The young Taoist priest burst into tears and thought to himself, "I am more wronged than Dou E. Damn it, why do you say I am a liar?!"

The young Taoist priest's name was Li Yang. If this had happened in his previous life, Li Yang would have definitely picked up his weapon and fought them.

But this life is different. Now he is a Taoist priest and relies on Baiyun Temple for three meals a day. If he really fights, whether he can win or not is another matter. If he is given the bad name of "beating tourists", then he will have no choice but to starve.

"Blessings and infinite blessings, if it weren't for the affection between this temple and your grandmother, I wouldn't bother to remind you!"

Wang Xin's angry voice still did not stop. Out of sight, out of mind. Li Yang simply turned to the backyard of the Taoist temple and closed the wooden door.

The couplets on both sides of the wooden door are vaguely visible
"Respect and teach, and spread the great Dao, the Xuanwu Patriarch; practice and make a pilgrimage, and worship the true God in the Nanyan Palace"

Li Yang, who was sitting in the middle of the yard, straightened his Taoist robe, took a deep breath, and adjusted himself for a long time before he finally dispelled the unhappiness in his heart.

After relaxing his body, Li Yang spread his feet shoulder-width apart, slowly raised his hands and crossed them in a lifting posture, then took a step to the left with his left foot and squatted down in a horse stance.

If there were other Taoists present, they would certainly recognize that this was the 'Fighting and Raising the Three Burners of Heaven' from the Taoist Health Preserving Exercise that was widely circulated among the people.

Over the past month, it has become Li Yang's habit to practice Taoist health-preserving exercises when he has free time.

It seemed as if Li Yang had practiced the Taoist health-preserving exercises for decades, sometimes soft and slow, smooth and coherent; sometimes a combination of looseness and tightness, and a combination of movement and stillness. The sophisticated movements were very inconsistent with Li Yang's young face.

After the eight moves, Li Yang stood with his fists closed, a stream of hot air like white silk came out of his mouth, and beads of sweat covered his forehead. He moved his body slightly, and several footprints that went three feet into the ground appeared out of thin air. As his eyes flickered, a string of somewhat illusory words suddenly appeared three feet in front of Li Yang.

[Taoist Health Preserving Exercise +1]

[Taoist Health Preserving Exercise: Level 0 (97/100)]

The young Taoist priest's mind moved, and a string of data gradually became clear before his eyes.

-

[Divination: Level 1 (12/1000), unlocked: Zi Ping fortune telling (If someone interprets the fortune, you can predict a major event that will happen to the other person within the day. This can only be used once a day.)]

[Taoist Health Preserving Exercise: Level 0 (97/100)]

[Breathing: Level 0 (32/100)]

Looking at the panel, the young Taoist priest was quite excited.

In his previous life, Li Yang was a newly graduated normal school student. He died suddenly from staying up late because he worked too hard on filing teaching cases. When he woke up again, he became a young Taoist priest in Baiyun Temple.

Baiyun Mountain is considered a famous Taoist mountain, but because its transportation facilities are so poor and there is not even a secondary road, it was only rated 2A when the scenic spot was rated. Except for those who like to visit secluded places and those who are particularly stubborn, there are hardly any tourists on weekdays.

The Baiyun Temple advertises itself as having a profound historical heritage, but in other words, it is shabby and dilapidated. Especially with the death of the old abbot half a month ago, the already difficult-to-maintain Baiyun Temple has almost lost its popularity.

In order to avoid starving to death, Li Yang had to follow the example of the old abbot and sell souvenirs and tell fortunes to the tourists who came to visit.

The first time I pretended to be a fortune teller and interpreted divination for tourists, this panel suddenly appeared in front of me.

Li Yang was stunned for a moment, then realized that this was the golden finger that the protagonist needed to travel through time and space?!
As a college student, Li Yang quickly accepted the arrival of the panel. He then spent half a day figuring out the function of the panel.

In short, if you focus on practicing a certain skill, the panel will record your proficiency. When the proficiency is full, you will advance to the next level, bringing unexpected benefits to the host.

So, the liver is done!
In the past month, Li Yang has developed three skills: [Divination], [Taoist Health Preservation], and [Breathing].
It was somewhat surprising that this system could only record Taoism-related skills. In order to avoid starving to death, Li Yang sold souvenirs to tourists whenever he could and also gave away fortune-telling services every day. Finally, he reached level 1 for [Fortune-telling] three days ago.

After the upgrade of [Divination Interpretation], Li Yang did not disappoint and successfully unlocked the [Zi Ping Fortune Telling] status.

When I made the prediction for Wang Xin just now, it was because I saw a few pictures using [Zi Ping Tui Ming] and kindly mentioned them that I got myself into trouble.

"Wulian Tianzun, isn't it just a reminder? Is it that serious?"

Li Yang stopped and stood up, then heard the noise outside again. He looked through the crack in the door and saw Wang Xin outside, who was looking indignant and asking the porters to move the rice, oil and vegetables that had just been brought up down the mountain.

Although he was angry, Li Yang was struggling over whether or not to help Wang Xin survive the bloody disaster.

After interpreting the fortune for Wang Xin, a scene flashed through Li Yang's mind. Wang Xin slipped on the moss on the stone steps as he was walking down the mountain. He fell and his face hit the sharp branches of a nearby tree. Blood immediately gushed out...

The Baiyun Mountain is high and the roads are dangerous, and there is no one living there. If this kind of injury is left untreated, it is very likely to result in death.

Wang Xin's grandmother was an old worshipper in the temple. She was a kind old lady. Li Yang had received many favors in the month since he was reincarnated.

Li Yang couldn't bear the thought of the kind old man having to see his son die.

"Never mind. There is a saying that a family that accumulates good will have good fortune, and a family that accumulates evil will have disaster. The elders have accumulated grace and blessings to protect their descendants, which is also your fate."

The purpose of practicing Taoism is just to enlighten one's mind. After making up his mind, Li Yang shook his head, pushed open the wooden door and walked out.

Walking all the way to the main hall, Li Yang picked up the bad fortune stick that Wang Xin had drawn, and turned to walk down the mountain.

When they arrived at the gate, Wang Xin and his men were counting supplies, shouting, "Everyone, move carefully. We can't let this liar ruin our Wang family's things, even if we feed them to dogs. Even if a grain of rice falls on the ground, you have to pick it up for me!"

Seeing Li Yang approaching, Wang Xin immediately became alert: "Little Taoist priest, what are you doing here again? This is originally my stuff, I can move it away if I want."

Li Yang glanced at them meaningfully and said, "Believers, please feel free to do as you please, just don't destroy the items in the temple. As for what I'm going to do, it's better not to tell you. If I tell you, I'm afraid you'll get angry again."
