The Devil Comes to America

Chapter 247: Threat

Chapter 247: Threat

Jim was stunned when he received the news.

Robin is dead?

Shot in the street?

A senior FBI agent was shot dead in the street!

Is this Los Angeles?
Bullshit! This is definitely not what should happen in Los Angeles right now!

Jim had already reacted. He rushed out of his office and yelled, "Someone, follow me to the FBI office!"

The police car roared out and stopped at the FBI office. Then Jim and his men rushed inside.

But what happened in the office made everyone's eyes widen.

The entire office was in a mess, and all the computer hosts disappeared, but that was nothing. The bullet holes on the walls and the bodies lying on the ground were the main points.

Jim's eyes were red, and he suppressed his anger and growled, "Surveillance records! Find me all the surveillance records in the surrounding area, no, all the surveillance records in the three or five blocks!"

Just as Jim was getting angry, a voice rang out: "Chief Jim."

Jim looked over and saw a short, middle-aged white detective walking over with his men.

Jim knew this man.

"Agent Guy." Jim glanced inside the room and then stepped aside.

Guy walked in and closed his eyes slightly after seeing the situation in the house.

"Do you have any clues?" Jim's voice sounded.

Guy gritted his teeth and said, "I just got the news, Director Jim. Leave the rest to us."

"Leave it to you?"

"They are investigating a federal case." Guy said, "The FBI will handle this matter because many of the materials involve state secrets. The LAPD should not get involved."

Jim suddenly felt a surge of anger rising: "Guy! You must know something, right!"

Guy shook his head. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

"Your people are dead!" Jim grabbed Guy by the collar and yelled at him, "Robin is dead too!! You tell me you don't know anything!"

"Chief Jim, calm down, can you please?"

"Tell me! What were they investigating before!"

Guy's expression also turned cold: "I have no right to inform you of this federal case, Jim, don't cross the line."

"Out of line!" Jim pointed at the body inside and said, "We know who Robin is! We also know the nature of the case he is investigating! I don't know why you concealed it, but I know that Robin is an agent who truly works for the good of America! A capable agent! If this matter is not investigated thoroughly, it will be the tragedy of this fucking country!"

"If agents like this can die without knowing why, this country is doomed!"

Guy took a deep breath and said, "Jim, I understand how you feel, but..."

"You understand shit! If you do, tell me what happened right now!"

Guy heard this and shook Jim's shoulders off: "Shut up! Enough, Jim! Robin is my man, and they are all my subordinates! The most uncomfortable one is me, do you know? I don't want this to happen either! I warned Robin"

Guy paused for a moment when he said this.

He took a deep breath and then said, "You have no jurisdiction over this matter, Jim."

Jim stared at Guy's face and said, "You really do know something, don't you?"

"No comment." "Okay, you said jurisdiction, right?" Jim narrowed his eyes. "LAPD really has no right to intervene in federal cases, but I think this death is related to local crimes. I can't intervene in federal cases, but LAPD has the right to intervene in local cases. You guys investigate your case, and I'll investigate who did the killing and where the gun came from."

"Jim!"

Jim ignored him and shouted outside, "Seal off this place, bring all surveillance cameras back to the bureau, and have everyone who can come over to investigate the surroundings. Remember, don't hinder the FBI investigation. They don't need to interfere with our case."

"Yes!"

Jim walked out, and before leaving he said, "I'm going to see Robin."

Robin's body had been taken to the morgue, and apparently Guy hadn't gotten there yet.

Looking at the two bullet holes in Robin's head, Jim looked away.

The assistant next to him came up and said, "Director, his communication equipment has disappeared, and the memory card of the recorder in the car has also disappeared."

"So professional." Jim's voice was cold.

"Where are the nearby surveillance cameras?"

"We brought back everything we could. We can see the killer. The video shows that he is about 1.82 meters tall, white, using a Glock. He was wearing a hat and his face was not clearly captured. It is possible that he deliberately avoided the camera. He has strong anti-detection capabilities."

Jim narrowed his eyes. "Find the nearby vehicles from the surveillance, then find these cars and their recorders. I don't believe that there are no pictures of people's faces."

"Understood, Chief."

Jim glanced at Robin who was lying there, his fists clenched tightly.

"I don't know what you investigated, but I know it must be something extraordinary. Robin, I may not be able to help you continue the investigation, but at least I want to find the person who killed you!"

Jim walked out of the morgue when his cell phone suddenly rang.

He took out his cell phone and looked at it, then his face froze.

The picture sent to him on the mobile phone showed his wife and children walking on the street. In the lower left corner of the picture, there was a man in black wearing a black hat, but his face could not be seen clearly.

Jim's body shuddered; he knew what this photo represented.

Someone was warning him.

At this moment, one of his men came running over and said, "Director, the FBI is here to ask us for surveillance video."

Jim looked at his phone, then at his men.

He was silent for a moment, then said, "You don't have to give it to them. Just let them look at whatever they have in the bureau. Tell them that they can take the things away after both parties have looked at them."

"Ah? I understood you before."

Robin's death made Jim a little impulsive, or rather, Jim was not afraid of putting himself in danger, but he could not sacrifice his wife and children.

But Jim was unwilling to give up.

He took out an encrypted phone and dialed a number, but the call was not connected. After thinking about it, he made another call: "Jonas, I have something to talk to the boss about."

Jonas was quite surprised by Jim's call. He said, "The boss hasn't been here recently. We don't know where he went. What's the matter?"

"Not here? When can I contact you, boss?"

"Then I don't know. You are very anxious, right?"

"Yes, I'm afraid that time won't come." Jim said this, and suddenly thought of something, and said, "We need to meet, let the foreign student come with us."
