The Devil Comes to America

Chapter 201: He is a good man

Chapter 201: He is a good man
A bar.

Robin sat down next to Jim. "Hey man, this is the first time you've invited me out for a drink since you became director, right?"

Jim smiled and said, "You know, there are too many things to do in Los Angeles. You should know what we have done recently."

"Of course, the Los Angeles gangs haven't had a good time in the past few months." Robin looked at Jim with emotion: "To be honest, I once thought you were going to become a politician, but I didn't expect Jim that you didn't forget that you are a policeman at all."

Jim's mouth twitched.

Of course he knew what Robin was talking about.

In the past few months, LAPD has been cracking down on gangs.

But Jim knew that he was only ordering the police to pick up what was available.

"There are still many innocent citizens who have been affected." Jim smiled bitterly, "You don't know how many reports I have received, and how much pressure we have received from above to take it easy."

"There has never been a shortage of gangs in Los Angeles. There are too many dollars here, as well as the entertainment industry and securities. If you want to turn the gangs here into what they are now, Jim, you should stop being modest."

"Well, it seems that I am indeed wise and brave enough that the FBI has begun to praise me." Jim handed over a glass of wine: "Cheers, buddy."

Robin picked up the glass and drank it all, then said, "By the way, is there any news about the Hoodie Man recently? I saw him appearing at some crime scenes."

"You've seen it too. We can't catch him. Besides, he's helped us solve a lot of problems." Jim said helplessly, "Even if I give the order to catch him, the frontline police officers know why they can catch people so safely. I can't force them to do this."

"I understand you Jim, but you should know that the justice he delivers is nothing compared to the chaos that Hoodie Man might cause."

"Then you should talk to my police officers, or I can personally lead the team to meet him next time and beat him."

Robin opened his mouth, then smiled bitterly and said, "Pretend I didn't say anything, Jim. Remember to tell me if you have any clues."

"No problem." Jim smiled and revealed Robin's scars: "You are a defeated opponent."

But he knew that the hoodie man who had helped to arrest people recently was not the boss.

Robin drank another glass and continued, "Tell me, what can you do for me?"

Jim was stunned: "You thought so of my Robin, I thought we were friends."

"Of course we are friends, but I also know that you won't buy me a drink if you have nothing to do." Robin smiled and said, "Any tricky case? It won't be the same as the one with the foreign student last time, right?"

Jim didn't say anything, but took out a file bag and handed it to Robin.

"There's not much information." Robin's expression turned serious.

He knew that the fact that Chief Jim gave him so few documents meant that this case was definitely not a simple one.

Robin opened the information and took a look. Then a hint of surprise flashed across his eyes: "Is it related to the military?"

"Obviously."

"Will. I seem to have heard this name somewhere." "The bodyguard of our youngest congressman in California." Jim reminded him, "Xiong En was blocked by several drug dealers the day before the election. While protecting Xiong En, he killed three drug dealers who came to assassinate him, and only made them lose their combat effectiveness instead of killing them. Because of this incident, Xiong En praised his bodyguard a lot and used the bodyguard's personality to win a lot of votes for himself."

"I was wondering why I had such an impression of him." Robin said, flipping through the previous files.

Then Robin's pupils shrank slightly: "The whole family is dead. If it weren't for his good luck, he would have died too."

"Well, the chief at the time was Hansen. This guy called the police and said it was a deliberate revenge and asked us to investigate the murderer. But Hansen didn't want to get involved in military affairs. He just wanted to find the arrested guy and ask him some questions, but the murderer died in prison the next day."

"Very familiar technique." Robin said, looking at Jim: "So how did you find this thing?"

"Will came to report the case again," Jim said. "He gave us a name."

Robin looked at the information: "Aarons, Lieutenant of the Army, wow, he owns three properties in Los Angeles, how? Is the salary paid by the army enough to pay the annual taxes for these three houses?"

"He's dead too," Jim said. "He died in Long Beach. I can't retrieve the information there. Before I came to you, I applied to the LBPD for a case file investigation, but they rejected it because it was confidential."

In fact, Jim could have just thrown the things to Robin, but after receiving the news from Xiunuo, he still tried to investigate it in his own way.

For no other reason than to help my friend share some of the firepower.

"Interesting." Robin sneered, "A lieutenant died on the street, and the LBPD refused to cooperate. How far have you investigated?"

Robin looked at Jim, because there was nothing left on the information Jim brought.

"A local tyrant named Vicky, who was involved in smuggling, drugs, arms, and everything else. He also helped Mexicans sneak across the border. We tracked him down, and he gave me a name, Sally. That's all the information my informant gave me. He died, and Vicky died too. He and his bodyguards all died on the beach."

Robin's mouth twitched, "It's getting more and more terrifying, Jim. Your job sounds dangerous."

Jim just said, "I found out too. And as the chief of LAPD, I can't find out who this Sally is. The only person I can think of is you. But I don't want you to investigate Robin because we are friends."

"But you came to me anyway, didn't you?"

"An entire Marine Corps was killed." Jim laughed at himself. "You know, I'm a veteran, too, and then I became a policeman. I've seen the dirty deals in the military, and I know they'll clean up some disobedient guys, but all this should happen in the military."

"As long as they return to this land, they should understand from the moment they set foot on this land that this is a civilized place. When they come here, they must put aside the rules in the army. This is the rule of the game. Therefore, they should not attack the families of these people, let alone the children."

Robin sighed, "Is this the line you prepared to persuade me?"

"That's about right." Jim picked up the glass and took another sip before saying, "But believe me, I really don't want you to check. If you just say you're not interested, I'll leave immediately and pretend that what happened today never happened."

Robin suddenly laughed. "You're right, Jim. You said everything I wanted to say! That's right. Their shit shouldn't happen in this land. That's why law enforcers like you and me exist. I'll investigate."

Jim looked at Robin and felt mixed emotions. He knew Robin would not refuse because he was a good man.

Jim raised his glass: "LAPD will provide you with all the help you need."
