Ultimate Firepower

Chapter 9 Psychological shadow

Chapter 9 Psychological shadow
Gun ownership is legal in Thailand, so there are many shooting ranges in Thailand, and the prices are actually not very expensive. However, the prices at shooting ranges for foreign tourists are actually quite expensive.

This time it is not for practicing shooting, but to let Gao Yi get familiar with the use of guns and the feeling of shooting, so he can shoot with several types of guns and fire ten bullets for each gun.

The staff took out the gun, loaded the bullets, and started loading them.

There are three pistols, namely Beretta 92F, Glock 17, and M1911, which are the types of guns that are almost available in Thai shooting ranges.

There are four long rifles, which are the most common types of guns in the shooting range, an MP5 submachine gun, two automatic rifles, AR15 and AKM, and a double-barreled shotgun that fires shotgun shells.

Luca was naturally familiar with guns. He said calmly, ".22 bullets are meaningless. You should mainly get familiar with the shooting feeling and recoil of 9mm bullets. I have selected the two most common pistols for you, the Beretta 92F and the Glock 17. As for the 1911, you can just give it a try."

The pistol bullets were loaded, and the staff loaded the magazine of the 92F pistol. Before handing the gun to Gao Yi, he said seriously: "Never point the gun at anyone at any time. Put the gun on the table after shooting. Do you understand?"

Because Gao Yi was an obvious Chinese, the staff member was a Chinese who could speak Chinese. He explained the precautions of shooting to Gao Yi very seriously. After the staff member put the gun in Gao Yi's hand and taught Gao Yi how to hold the gun and how to aim, he pulled the slide, turned on the safety, and said in English: "You can shoot."

Shooting was too easy. Gao Yi held the gun with both hands, aimed at the pistol target ten meters away, carefully aimed at the center of the bull's eye, held his breath, and fired a shot.

With a shake of his hands, the muzzle of the gun jumped up uncontrollably, and after falling back, it naturally pointed at the target again.

The number of rings immediately appeared on the electronic target screen: seven.

Luca said from the side: "Not bad."

Gao Yi's hands were steady and powerful, but the recoil of the pistol could not be controlled by force. Although the muzzle was still roughly facing the target, he still had to aim again if he wanted to hit the center of the bull's eye.

After careful aiming, Gao Yi fired the second shot, and the target indicator immediately gave the data: four rings.

The second shot was not as good as the first one. Gao Yi held his breath and fired the third shot, hitting six rings.

"Try shooting with one hand."

Luca gave a hint from the side, and Gao Yi also thought it was time to give it a try, so he changed from holding the gun with both hands to holding it with one hand, and then hit the eight rings with the fourth shot.

It seems that one hand is more accurate than two hands, but as soon as Gao Yi thought so, his fifth shot missed the target.

"Why did it miss the target? I clearly aimed, how could it miss the target?"

Gao Yi was puzzled, and then he became angry. He had clearly aimed carefully for more than ten seconds, but he missed the target. He could not accept this.

Luca said nonchalantly, "You took too long to aim. Why don't you try aiming roughly? Actually, you don't have to be so accurate with a pistol, really."

Gao Yi was neither indignant nor convinced, but after he fired the remaining five bullets according to Luca's instructions, he finally faced the reality.

The reality is that Gao Yi is not a shooting genius, but he is not a shooting fool either. He is just an ordinary person.

I shot ten shots, one of which missed the target. The best shot was nine rings, and the worst was four rings. Overall, it was very consistent with the level of a pure novice who was shooting for the first time.

After shooting the highly accurate Beretta 92F, Gao Yi switched to the Glock 17.
At first glance, the Glock is more comfortable to hold, lighter, and more natural to point at the target.

After firing ten rounds, Gao Yi discovered the advantage of Glock, which is that it is indeed much more friendly to novices.

Using the all-steel 92F, I scored 52 rings with nine out of ten shots, and 17 rings with ten out of ten shots using the Glock 63.

The lowest ring is five and the highest is eight, but Glock is indeed more stable in Gao Yi's hands.

This result disappointed Gao Yi, but Luca was very satisfied.

"Not bad, good fight,"

Gao Yi could only pin his hopes on the larger caliber M1911. For him, the 1911 with a thinner grip felt more comfortable to hold, and he thought that perhaps this would make his shooting performance better.

The 1911 was still very heavy, but Gao Yi felt that the heavier feel was more comfortable, but the result was still the same, not bad, but definitely not good. After firing seven rounds, Gao Yi put the empty gun on the table, and then he couldn't help but show a look of disappointment on his face.

"Seven shots, 45 rings, ten-meter target. This result is not bad for a first-time shooter. But why do you look so frustrated?"

Gao Yi shook his head and said, "I have to shoot very accurately. I should be a sharpshooter. If I shoot like this, I will bring shame to the Gao family..."

Luca looked confused and asked, "What? What are you talking about?"

Gao Yi shook his head and said, "Everyone in my family can shoot accurately with a gun, so I should be very accurate too. However, maybe I can shoot accurately with a spear. Let's try with a spear!"

Gao Yi saw some hope again. He suddenly felt that maybe the pistol might not be accurate, but the rifle could be accurate. Maybe he was a natural sniper. This possibility was not small.

But the hope was shattered very quickly, because the results soon proved that Gao Yi was an ordinary person when shooting with a pistol, and he was still an ordinary person when shooting with a long gun.

Not good, but not bad either, just like everyone else, which means seven out of ten people are similar to him.

Gao Yi was disappointed that he was not a talented shooter, but Luca thought it was normal.

"Your level is just like a beginner. I don't know why you are frustrated. I can only say that it doesn't matter. What you need next is to practice frequently. The more you play, the more accurate you will become."

Luca comforted Gao Yi a few words, but he didn't intend to let Gao Yi start practicing today.

Marksmanship is not something that can be learned in a day or two, and it is certainly not something that Luca can learn on his own.

Gao Yi wanted to fight again, but Luca didn't want to.

"Come on, let's go. It's enough for you to get familiar with these guns today and know how to use them. We still have a lot of things to do. It's time to go now."

After half coaxing and half persuading Gao Yi to leave the shooting area, Luca breathed a sigh of relief and said, "We still have a lot of things to do. We also need to buy you a passport, otherwise you can't even take a plane. We're leaving tomorrow, and we have to get this done today. Then I can book a flight, so we don't have to drive to Chiang Rai..."

"A fake passport? You can buy one on the dark web, right?"

"It's a real passport, but it's not yours. Come on, I've made an appointment with the person who sells passports. Just pick someone who looks like you."

Gao Yi didn't care much about the passport issue. He was still immersed in the frustration of not being a shooting genius. After getting on Luca's motorcycle, he couldn't help but ask, "Can a person's shooting skills really be trained?"

"of course."

"It's like the killer in the movies, never misses a shot, hits wherever he points..."

"First of all, assassins rarely use guns. And assassins can't all be shooting geniuses, so most assassins' shooting skills are just so-so. Of course, there are assassins who are good at shooting, but they are a minority after all. Most importantly, we usually call such people gunmen instead of assassins."

The motorcycle started, but Luca didn't rush out. He was patient and half turned his head and said, "For a killer, using a gun to solve the problem is the last choice. It is a helpless choice. If you want to be a killer, you should not consider how to improve your shooting skills, but how to get closer to the target more effectively."

"I still want to practice my marksmanship."

"Then go to America and find yourself a good gun, the kind that can improve your shooting skills. Then find a professional shooting coach, and then practice every day. Practice well, and you will become good after firing tens of thousands of rounds. But now, you have to consider how to complete the task at hand, understand?"

A good gun, a good instructor.

Gao Yi nodded and said, "I understand. Thank you."

Shifting gears and turning the accelerator, Luca asked in confusion: "Why are you so fascinated by shooting?"

Gao Yi thought about it and said helplessly: "Because I have been shot. It takes many years to practice Kung Fu, but it can't stop a bullet shot by anyone with just a flick of the finger. So guns are more powerful than Kung Fu. Since guns are more powerful than Kung Fu, then of course I have to practice guns. That's it."
