Chapter 139: First Day on Duty

Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station, inside the office building.

Jiang Yao, who had rushed here to report early in the morning, found the uniformed group's base. He then went straight to a uniformed police officer not far away.

"Hey brother, I'm a new police officer. Can I ask where is Sir Mai's office?"

With a bright smile on his face, Jiang Yao greeted the police officer.

"New colleague? Sir Mai is over there, I'll take you there." After a slight pause, the uniformed police officer quickly became enthusiastic after reacting.

As he led Jiang Yao forward, he asked with a smile, "The uniformed police here are divided into three groups. I am Li Hongsheng, a senior police officer from the second group. What's your name, brother?"

Jiang Yao followed closely behind Li Hongsheng, smiling and saying, "My last name is Jiang, Jiang Yaozu. I used to be an undercover police officer and just returned to the police force not long ago."

"Brother Sheng has been here for some time. I'm new here, so please take care of me in the future."

In terms of age, Li Hongsheng is at least thirty years old, much older than Jiang Yao.

He had just reported here and hadn't even worked a day yet, so it was natural for Jiang Yao to call him Brother Sheng.

"Everyone in our second group knows that I, Ah Sheng, have always been loyal and I love taking care of newcomers the most."

"After meeting Sir Mai, if you can really be assigned to our group, don't worry, I will definitely take you with me." Patting his chest, Li Hongsheng responded with a smile.

The uniformed group's base was only this big, and in just a few words, he had already led Jiang Yao to the door of an office.

"Sir Mai, a new colleague has arrived."

Although the office door was open, Li Hongsheng still knocked on the door several times before he began to report.

"come in!"

After hearing the sound coming from the office, Li Hongsheng stepped back, while Jiang Yao held his head high and walked straight in.

Sir Mai is in his forties. He is not very fat, but his face is round. He looks very friendly and gives people the feeling of a good old man.

"Police officer 65137, Jiang Yaozu, reporting in!" Jiang Yao stomped his feet, saluted him and introduced himself.

After looking Jiang Yao up and down for a few times, Sir Mai nodded and said with a smile: "I received your transfer order two days ago."

"I have also carefully read your information several times."

"Your former supervisor, Senior Inspector Fang Jieting, has always been optimistic about you and wanted to transfer you to their anti-drug team. There are even rumors that she even slammed the table with her superiors because of your situation."

"You don't have to be upset about being transferred to our uniformed unit. We are all members of the Hong Kong police force. If you are really capable, you can also make a name for yourself."

"Many of the bigwigs in our Hong Kong police force were also military veterans back then."

……

At least eight out of ten leaders are good at making empty promises.

The Mr. Mai in front of him only said a few words and then started to give Jiang Yao some spiritual chicken soup.

He spoke for more than ten minutes. What he wanted to express was that Jiang Yao should work hard. As long as he made enough contributions, it was only a matter of time before he would get promoted, get a raise, and reach the pinnacle of his career.

“Yes, sir!” Although Jiang Yao didn’t really buy into this, in order to please his boss, he still acted very excited and respectfully saluted Sir Mai again.

Seeing Jiang Yao's reaction, Sir Mai nodded with satisfaction. He stood up and led Jiang Yao outside.

"Li Hongsheng, tell your boss that the new senior police officer Jiang Yaozu will be assigned to your team from now on." Li Hongsheng, who brought Jiang Yao here, had been outside. After seeing him, Sir Mai stopped and gave him instructions directly.

"Yes sir!" Li Hongsheng responded with a quick salute.

An hour or two later, after completing all the procedures, Jiang Yao, who was wearing a military uniform, with a .38 rifle on his waist and a baton in his hand, was walking on a street in Tsim Sha Tsui with Li Hongsheng.

The leader of their group was a police chief named Yan Feng.

Li Hongsheng was indeed popular. After he took the initiative to apply to take on the newcomer Jiang Yao, Yan Feng, their leader, agreed without giving it much thought.

"Ah Yao, in the police force, although our uniformed officers are not as high-ranking as those plainclothes officers, our work is much easier."

"Unless there are special events, we are always on time when we go to and from get off work, unlike those plainclothes officers who often work day and night when they are busy."

"Let me tell you, the police department's serious crime unit has always wanted me to transfer to their side, but I never agreed."

"There's no other reason. I think they're too tired there. They can't compare to the leisure time of our uniformed team."

……

Walking on the street, Li Hongsheng kept bragging.

This kind of monotonous street patrol work every day is rare in heaven and on earth when he talks about it.

As a newcomer on his first day at work, Jiang Yao listened to him chatting quietly and naturally did not make any rebuttal.

When they reached the check-in point at a certain intersection, the two signed their names and then continued to patrol the next street.

"Brother Sheng, something seems to be happening over there!"

When the two were patrolling at the entrance of a small alley, they saw a group of people punching and kicking someone not far away. Jiang Yao said something, quickened his pace, and ran over.

"What are you doing? Stop it!" Jiang Yao stopped when he reached the scene of the incident.

Looking at the middle-aged man with a bruised face and nose who was slowly getting up from the ground, his face darkened and he pointed at the group of guys who were beating him and shouted angrily.

"Sir, you are new here. I don't think I have seen you before?"

The person who spoke was a man with a nose ring and looked sloppy. He looked Jiang Yao up and down with a fake smile and said, "As good citizens, we will never do anything illegal."

"That guy just fell down accidentally, and we were kind enough to help him up!"

"If you don't believe it, ask him yourself."

After saying this, he immediately put on a ferocious look and looked fiercely at the guy who had just gotten up from the ground: "Zhang, tell me what happened just now? Did you fall down by yourself? We just wanted to help you up."

The guy with the nose ring is obviously the leader among this group of gangsters.

Just as he finished speaking, one of his subordinates kicked the man named Zhang fiercely and said, "Are you deaf? Didn't you hear what my boss said?"

"You are old and your eyes are blurry. If you fell, you fell. Don't be embarrassed to admit it. Sir is still waiting for your reply!"

How dare you do that in front of Jiang Yao? This kid's arrogant look made Jiang Yao, who had a sullen face, look at him a few more times.

"Sir, I did fall down accidentally just now. These brothers are all kind-hearted people. They just came to help me up!" The man named Zhang seemed to be extremely afraid of the group of people in front of him. He shrank back and quickly stated.

"Did you hear that? Sir, we are all good people. I think your police force should give us Good Citizen Medals!" The man with the nose ring laughed wildly with an arrogant look on his face.

"Don't talk nonsense to me. Does it take so many people to help someone up?"

"Also, that kid just kicked Mr. Zhang. I saw it with my own eyes."

Jiang Yao stared coldly at the man with the nose ring in front of him and said in a deep voice.

After putting on this police uniform, his heart was filled with justice and he would not tolerate even a grain of sand.

I have mastered several secret skills, but I can only keep them hidden. They are just a few gangsters. Who gives them the courage to be so arrogant in front of me?

"Gilvin, what are you doing?"

"This is the new Mr. Jiang. Who gave you the courage to beat someone in front of him?" Li Hongsheng, who was far behind Jiang Yao, finally caught up by jogging.

He obviously knew the man with the nose ring, and he pointed at him and scolded him angrily.

"Mr. Li, you know that we make a living here and have always abided by the law. We never cause trouble."

"This Mr. Jiang came and falsely accused us of assault. How could we possibly do such a cruel thing?"

Pinching his nose, Guiliwen, the man with the nose ring, responded in a sarcastic tone.

While speaking, he also raised his middle finger towards Jiang Yao.

But the next moment, he seemed to have lost control of his body and staggered. The hand that he had originally used to raise his middle finger unexpectedly reached out to grab the .38 rifle that Jiang Yao had hung on his waist.

"Attacking police officers? You dare to snatch their guns? You are so brave!" Grabbing Gui Liwen's hand that was holding the gun handle, Jiang Yao raised his baton and smashed it on the head.

"So what if they are the police? If you dare to hit our boss, let's all attack together!"

It has to be said that Guiliwen's gang were quite loyal. They knew that Jiang Yao was a police officer, and when they saw their boss bleeding from the head and screaming in pain from being hit by a baton, they suddenly made up their minds and rushed straight towards Jiang Yao.

"So many people attacking the police together, good, very good!" Jiang Yao kicked Gui Liwen to the ground, picked up the baton and went straight forward.

The sudden change caught Li Hongsheng off guard.

Picking up the baton, he was still considering whether to go up and help his new colleague Jiang Yao. However, before he could make a decision, the battle seemed to have been resolved on Jiang Yao's side.

Gui Liwen's gang of brothers were lying on the ground, and Jiang Yao stepped on his head: "Assaulting police officers and stealing guns are both serious crimes."

"There are so many witnesses here, and I have your fingerprints on the handle of my gun. The evidence is irrefutable. I am taking you back to the police station now. It will be enough to put you in jail for a few years."

"Tell me the truth, who told you to do this?"

……

Jiang Yao pointed the baton at Gui Liwen's head and threatened with an expressionless face.

"It's unfair, Jiang Sir, it's really unfair."

"I just slipped. I swear to God, I never intended to steal your gun!" After being hit by a baton, Gui Liwen was a little dazed.

Shouting that he was wronged, he explained to Jiang Yao with a sad face.

Although he had many dealings with the police force, this was the first time he had encountered a police officer like Jiang Yao.

It would be fine if he was just good at fighting, but he was also so cruel. He would beat them to death if he got a chance. The way he acted was more like a gangster than these gangsters.

"Stealing the gun means stealing the gun, and you also slipped. Do you think the judge will believe such a lame excuse?" Jiang Yao picked up the baton and prepared to hit it again.

Li Hongsheng on the side quickly persuaded him: "Okay, Jiang Sir, Gui Liwen has already stopped resisting. If you hit him with a few more batons, it will be a big problem."

Jiang Yao turned around and glanced at Li Hongsheng. He shrugged nonchalantly and said, "It's their luck that I didn't take them to the police station right away."

"Dare to complain about me? You'll risk not getting promoted in the future. I'll keep an eye on him every day and beat him up whenever I see him."

With a strange look on his face, Li Hongsheng didn't know how to respond after hearing this: "This Mr. Jiang, is he really a policeman?"

His mind was a little confused because of Jiang Yao.

"Attention all units, attention all units, a robbery has occurred at Zhou's Gold Shop on Fulin Street in Tsim Sha Tsui. Police officers nearby please go to provide support as soon as possible..."

At this moment, alarms sounded simultaneously in the intercoms of Jiang Yao and Li Hongsheng.
