Meet the Gentleman

Chapter 7: Holy Way World

Chapter 7: Holy Way World
In the blink of an eye, several days passed.

Feng Qingyan didn't know that he was not only helped to regain his psychological balance, but also ridiculed and despised. After more than ten days of learning, he could communicate with others in a simple way. For him, as long as he got started, the rest would be easy.

His language skills improved rapidly, by leaps and bounds.

Also, from bits of information from daily observations and exchanges, he finally got a glimpse of a corner of the world, which was similar to the "Holy World" he had guessed before.

The holy way is prevalent throughout the world, and a hundred schools of thought contend with each other.

However, these were not the Hundred Schools of Thought that had become blurred in his mind, but the Hundred Schools of Thought that controlled the earth-shaking and terrifying power, among which Confucianism, Mohism, and Legalism had the widest influence.

As for how terrifying it is, ordinary people have no idea.

So Feng Qingyan couldn't judge either.

However, the laws of the holy way can suppress the throne of God, which shows that saints are top-level existences, otherwise how can they suppress the throne of God?

Next, he had to consider his own path.

Among the hundreds of schools of thought, which one should we follow? Or should we combine Confucianism and Mohism, or combine Nominalism and Legalism, and integrate all the teachings of the hundreds of schools?

Although the characteristic of Eclecticism is "adopting the best of Confucianism and Mohism and summarizing the essentials of Nominalism and Law", Eclecticism is mainly based on Taoist thought, and it seems too complicated compared to the inclusiveness of various schools of thought.

Moreover, the Eclectic School is the predecessor of Taoism.

However, the jack of all trades he referred to was a versatile person.

Because from his current understanding, whether it is Confucianism, Mohism, Legalism, Nominalism, Yin-Yang, or other schools of thought, they are all flawed...

Feng Qingyan shook his head and realized that he had been overthinking it.

These cognitions are all the remaining memories from his previous life. After all, they are two different worlds... The literati in the previous life were just ordinary people, but the literati in this world are not.

Besides, he has no choice at all now.

The only chance now is Caotang.

During this period of time, he often saw luxurious carriages appearing in the city, on the North Burial Road, and near the Thatched Cottage.

These carriages were naturally heading towards the thatched cottage.

As usual, Feng Qingyan came to the Thatched Cottage in the morning and listened to the class attentively. However, after the morning class ended, he did not leave immediately, but wandered around the Thatched Cottage casually.

In the afternoon, several craftsmen were invited to cut wood and build a house in the mountain stream far away from the thatched cottage.

In just three days, the wooden house was built. Although it was very simple, it had four rooms: a living room, a bedroom, a house and a kitchen. After he bought some daily necessities, there was little money left from selling the medicine.

He had to go back to the Burial Mountain to collect herbs.

In fact, the mountain stream where his wooden house is located is also a burial mountain.

The mountain spirit was very happy to see Feng Qingyan, and kept following him and refused to leave, pointing out where the herbs were from time to time...

……

"Sir, the winter officer's ship has arrived."

The gatekeeper came to the thatched cottage and spoke to the middle-aged gentleman who was giving a lecture.

The middle-aged teacher stopped teaching, asked the children to review on their own, and walked out of the thatched cottage, looking up at the sky. In the sea of clouds, a huge ship broke through the layers of clouds and mist, and finally stopped above the Star Flag.

The middle-aged man stepped up into the air step by step.

In the pavilion on the top floor of the ship, an energetic old man in white was sitting behind a coffee table sipping tea, and outside the pavilion were several young men and women in white kneeling.

At this time, the old man in white waved his hand when he saw the middle-aged man, and said with a smile: "Zhishou, come and have some tea."

"Xiu, meet the Grand Marshal."

The middle-aged man was slightly surprised to see the old man in white.

At this time, several young men and women in white stood up and saluted, looking at the middle-aged man with burning eyes, and said respectfully: "Greetings, Master An."

The middle-aged gentleman, surnamed An, given name Xiu, courtesy name Zhishou, looked at the young boy and girl, nodded, then landed on the deck and walked towards the pavilion.

The old man in white told An Xiu not to be polite, poured him a cup of tea, and said, "Is the academy built here?"

"Yes."

An Xiu walked into the pavilion and sat opposite the old man. He bowed and said, "I didn't expect the Grand Marshal to come in person. I am sorry for not welcoming you in person."

"Building a college is a big deal, how can I not come?"

The old man in white said with a smile, looking at An Xiu, he couldn't help but praise him: "With the realm of Wen Xiang, how many people in the world can reach the position of the 81st Dean? It is enough for me to have your words."

"Thank you for your praise, Grand Marshal. I don't deserve it." An Xiu said with a smile.

The old man in white just shook his head and smiled.

After drinking some tea, they flew down the building and landed in the thatched cottage.

As early as when they were drinking tea, several people from the Winter Officials had already landed at the cottage and started surveying the mountains and rivers around it.

"Zhishou, what are your ideas for the academy?"

The old man in white said as he walked, then frowned slightly, "Although the location is okay, but..." He couldn't understand why An Xiu chose to build the academy here. The scenery here is really average... An Xiu shook his head slightly.

"I heard that a few days ago, the blue bird sent a letter saying that there was an evil ghost in mourning clothes at the burial mountain?" The old man in white suddenly remembered and asked.

An Xiu nodded and asked, "But has any evil spirit broken through the Wanli Pavilion?"

"No."

The old man in white asked, "Have you seen many evil spirits?"

"Thousands or tens of thousands." An Xiu said.

"Strange……"

At this time, the old man in white frowned and said to himself: "Could it be that the hidden evil spirits have all come to Zangshan?" Then, he understood a little, looked at Zangshan and said: "Zhishou, you built the academy here to guard Zangshan?"

……

There is a lot of snow in the mountains.

Feng Qingyan carried a large bamboo basket on his back and shuttled between the pines, cypresses and stele forests with the mountain soul.

Although he was weak and had to rest after walking for a while, he was in a very good mood and chatted and laughed with the mountain spirit from time to time.

He unexpectedly discovered that the mountain spirit could actually understand what he was saying.

This did surprise him a little, but the mountain soul had been born for who knows how many years, and after years of exposure to the local environment, it was not surprising that it could understand the local language.

"It's a pity that you can't speak yet, otherwise you could talk to me."

Feng Qingyan felt a little regretful. He looked at the figure faintly appearing in the dark shadows and asked, "You should be able to transform soon, right?"

The black shadow moved, as a response.

"I wonder if you have a name? How about I give you one?" Feng Qingyan smiled and saw the black shadow move again, which meant that it had no name.

"There is a person in the mountains, wearing lychee and wearing lady's ivy. He is charming and smiling. You admire my gracefulness. He rides a red leopard and follows a civet cat. He rides a magnolia car with a laurel flag. He wears stone orchid and wears Duheng. He picks fragrant flowers and leaves them for my thoughts..."

At this moment, a sacrificial song for mountain ghosts suddenly popped up in his mind, and he couldn't help but recite it aloud. After he finished reciting it, he was stunned.

He was silent for a while, then looked at the mountain spirit and said, "How about the name 'Nine Songs'?"

The mountain spirit moved and then "knelt" down.

"You...are afraid of me?"

Feng Qingyan said, looking at the mountain spirit and pondering for a moment, "Is it because I helped you ascend to the position of mountain god? It doesn't matter, get up."

There was another reason he didn't mention, which was the ghost gate behind him.

And, this is most likely the reason.

The Ghost Gate can suppress evil spirits and even has a certain influence on the most evil. The chains of the laws of the mountain god's position are rooted in the Ghost Gate, so it is not surprising that the mountain spirits are afraid of him.

When the mountain spirit got up, it seemed very happy.

"Do you like this name?"

Feng Qingyan sensed the mountain soul's joy and asked with a smile.

The mountain spirit moved.

"nice! You love it."

Feng Qingyan said, "Let's go and continue collecting herbs."

……

[Note] The word "Taoism" first appeared in Sima Qian's "Records of the Grand Historian", which began in Sima Tan's "On the Main Points of Six Schools" by Sima Qian's father. The word "Taoism" has never appeared in any literature before "Records of the Grand Historian".

It became gradually widely known only after the "Records of the Grand Historian".

Taoist doctrines in the pre-Qin period are mainly divided into six schools, generally known as Huang-Lao doctrine, Lao-Zhuang doctrine, Yang Zhu doctrine, Laozi doctrine, Song Yin doctrine, etc.

There was no Taoist doctrine at that time.

Taoism is what later generations called it.

Among them, Huang-Lao school of thought was the most popular and was Tian Qi's thought on governing the country, which had a huge influence on other philosophers.

Lü Buwei organized people to compile "Lüshi Chunqiu", which took Taoist thought as the main body and integrated the theories of various schools, intending to use it as the ideology after unification.

But later, Qin Shihuang chose the Legalist thought.

Also, the Miscellaneous School is not a conscious and inherited school, so it does not call itself the Miscellaneous School. The Miscellaneous School is a name given by later generations. Because the works of the Miscellaneous School are mainly based on Taoist thoughts, some people believe that the Miscellaneous School is actually a new Taoist school...

The Taoism that Feng Qingyan mentioned does not refer to any particular Taoist school of thought, but the Taoism that was formed later and includes all Taoist schools of thought.
