My enemies became my companions
Chapter 204: The Intention of the Killing Sword
Chapter 204: The Intention of the Killing Sword (Three-in-One)
The next morning slowly arrived.
The morning bell of Maitreya Temple rang, but the old abbot got up much earlier than the bell. He went to the Buddha Hall and led everyone in chanting scriptures.
"I was born from the right side, and you, Maitreya, were born from the top of my head.
If I live for a hundred years, Maitreya will live for eighty-four thousand years.
Our country is land, your country is gold.
My country is suffering, your country is happy..."
Along with the sound of chanting, the rosary beads are turning. With every word that comes out, the rosary beads in the hand will turn once.
Rows of skinny hungry ghosts kneel on cushions, offering scriptures day after day.
In the dim Buddhist temple, the lights were always on as bright as day. The Maitreya Buddha on the platform was still smiling, with a belly as big as a drum. Wisps of green smoke were floating from the incense burner, and the temple was magnificent.
The old abbot is the backbone of the temple and the village chief of Qianfo Village.
He is eloquent and good at explaining Buddhism. He never puts on airs when dealing with people, but is always calm and normal. Anyone in the village who has trouble, except for needing food, would go to him. He has been in charge of this village for more than 80 years, but no one would say anything bad about him.
The hungry ghosts in the Thousand Buddha Village should have been greedy and ferocious, but under the leadership of the old abbot, they gradually built a village like this, where no one picked up things on the streets and no one locked their doors at night, which was even better than the human world.
To this village, the old abbot is a Buddha-like figure.
Some time after the morning bell rang, a pair of quarreling women came to the Buddhist temple. The old abbot came forward and asked the reason. It turned out that one woman had built the wall beyond the boundary when renovating her house, occupying an extra inch of Buddhist land. The other woman accused her of being unreasonable, as that inch of Buddhist land originally belonged to them.
In this village, the Buddha's field is very important. Although what is produced in it is gold, it is also karma. Only by cultivating these karmas into Buddha statues, and cultivating enough of them, and obtaining enough Buddha's vows, can one be liberated.
This is the simple concept of Qianfo Village.
After all, the good men and women here all believe in the Pure Land Sect, and this Maitreya Temple is also a Pure Land Buddhist temple.
After the old abbot comforted the two people, he called for the case files and traced the case back to the two of them in a meticulous manner. In the end, it turned out that it was indeed the woman who had occupied an extra inch of Buddhist land.
The woman blushed, and the old abbot gave her a lecture kindly, saying that what was not hers would never be hers. Even if she occupied an extra hundred inches of Buddha's land, what was produced from it would be other people's karma. What's more, if she did not change her greed and created bad karma from her greed, she would be a hungry ghost forever.
These words left the woman speechless.
The old abbot seldom does the foolish things that a paperhanger does. He is fair and just and always identifies who is at fault.
Just as the matter of this couple of women was settled, a few skinny men came to the old abbot to seek justice after a dispute and fight - in this Thousand Buddha Village, there are only trivial matters.
The old abbot never slacked off.
He didn't dare to slack off.
If you slack off, you will neglect the coming of Maitreya. The Buddhist scriptures say that when Maitreya comes, everything will become a pure land. At that time, everyone in Qianfo Village will be able to understand the Dharma and attain liberation.
...........................
When the lights came on, the old abbot, who had been busy all morning, heard from an abbot that Chen Yi and others had gone to various places in Qianfo Village to observe.
"Namo Maitreya Buddha, who will be born in the future, they have the intention." said the old abbot.
The abbot asked, "Then...why don't we just go and ask that woman to recite the sutra?"
The old abbot shook his head and sighed, "If they had come into the village without incident, they could have gone to ask for help. However, Kong Ming mistook them for foreign demons and asked everyone to ambush him, which offended them, especially the man in charge. If we take the initiative to ask for help, they will definitely be suspicious, not to mention that the man is not easy to deal with."
The abbot said with a bitter look, "If you don't ask, how can you let that woman recite the sutra?"
The other abbot was a rough man. He listened to the two people's witty conversation and did not respond for a moment. He then asked, "Which woman is that? Why do you want that woman to recite the sutra?"
The old abbot hesitated for a moment, then let out some secrets, "She is the shortest woman among the four. The Bodhisattva told me in a dream that she has divine hearing and is a natural Buddha."
The two abbots were horrified upon hearing this and did not dare to speak loudly for a moment.
The old abbot continued, "If this woman recites the sutra, she will be able to emit lotus flowers from her mouth and speak the Dharma in this world. In this way, Maitreya will descend to the world, and our Thousand Buddha Village will be able to attain enlightenment and liberation."
The two abbots couldn't help but sigh when they heard this. The Buddha sang a few lines, and the rude abbot cursed the little monk again and again, wanting to beat him up and punish him severely.
"She was born with the seed of Buddha and has great power. Wouldn't it be possible for her to become a Buddha right away after reciting the sutra? Helping others to become Buddhas is a great merit, even if it doesn't liberate us. But people may not be willing to recite the sutra now." The abbot sighed several times, "Abbot, what should we do now?"
The old abbot pondered for a while, organized his words and said: "I think that woman... is actually kind-hearted, but she can't show it because of that man.
It is impossible to ask for it openly, but just gather the whole village to chant scriptures in the name of praying for blessings, and ask her indirectly why she doesn't chant scriptures together. If she still doesn't chant, then ask her why she doesn't chant?
With her kind-heartedness and the continuous questioning, if she doesn’t recite the sutra, she will definitely feel guilty. Even if it means cutting her flesh with a soft knife, she will still recite the sutra.”
After hearing this, the two abbots pondered for a while and felt that this plan was feasible.
In the side room, three monks put their hands together and chanted in unison with great piety:
"Namo the future Buddha Maitreya."
In the main hall, Maitreya Buddha still smiles with a big belly.
...........................
"When Maitreya appears, the country will be prosperous and happy. There are many disciples. Think about it and keep it in your heart."
The little monk was muttering to himself as he swept the steps outside the Maitreya Temple.
Then he saw a man walking slowly towards him and shuddered.
He was about to turn around and run when a hand appeared above his head, holding him in place.
"Chen Shi, donor..." the little monk said in a trembling voice.
Chen Yi asked casually: "When will all the villagers be freed?"
The little monk dared not move, his lips trembled.
Then Chen Yi came up with the next sentence:
"If you don't speak, I'll kill you with a knife. You're not innocent anyway."
The little monk said hurriedly:
"When Maitreya comes to the world, all the hungry ghosts will be liberated."
Maitreya is born...
Chen Yi had heard of this statement before. When Maitreya Buddha, the future Buddha, comes to the world to save mankind, wherever he goes, it will be a pure land with fertile land and prosperous people. Even the Rakshasas will chant Buddhist teachings without violating the orthodox teachings. It will be like a paradise on earth and a world of great harmony.
However, when Maitreya comes to the world, it will be no different from the chicken eating up the rice, the dog licking the noodles, and the fire burning through the lock.
The little monk seemed to have guessed something from Chen Yi's impatience and said:
"As long as we chant the name of Maitreya Buddha more often, build more Buddha statues, and recite Buddhist scriptures more, Maitreya Buddha will soon be born. All of us in the village believe in this, and everyone is a good believer."
Chen Yi could see what he said.
The hungry ghosts here are much more pious than those in the human world. They chant scriptures day and night, read day and night, and worship Maitreya Buddha.
However, he could never attain enlightenment and liberation.
Tsk, why not just kill them all.
On the stone steps in the distance, Yin Tingxue was slowly coming over. She seemed to hear some voice in her ears and was startled.
She ran to Chen Yi in a hurry.
They just walked around the village. Since Chen Yi walked fast, she could hardly keep up, so she slowed down a few steps and kept some distance between them.
Chen Yi turned around and saw Yin Tingxue quickly shaking her head.
She whispered, "No."
"why not?"
"Killing, killing will not solve the problem...and evil deeds will bring evil consequences, they will still be hungry ghosts in the next life." Yin Tingxue, who often reads Buddhist scriptures, explained in a low voice.
Upon hearing this, Chen Yi let go of the little monk.
The young monk ran away as if he had been pardoned.
Seeing that Chen Yi listened to her words this time, Yin Tingxue was somewhat delighted.
"Are we really going to wait until Maitreya Buddha is born?" Chen Yi asked.
Yin Tingxue shook her head. She didn't know what to do.
Seeing the miserable appearance of this small person, she felt uncomfortable.
It is impossible to imagine that hundreds of people in Thousand Buddha Village can understand Buddhism and attain enlightenment and liberation.
Therefore, under the leadership of the old abbot, they chanted the Buddha's name, erected Buddha statues, and built temples.
Chen Yi lowered his eyes and thought.
Yin Tingxue blinked and thought of something.
She suggested softly, "How about... I go and recite some scriptures that can enlighten people. Sister Wei Ying said that I am now speaking like a lotus and my words are in accordance with the Dharma."
As soon as he finished speaking, Chen Yi said coldly: "Don't read it."
Yin Tingxue was stunned for a moment. This was just a normal suggestion. She muttered:
"It's just a recitation, you can't stop me from reciting the sutra..."
Chen Yi said:
"I don't want you to talk nonsense and say whatever you want."
There was nothing wrong with Yin Tingxue chanting the sutra.
Chen Yi didn't even doubt that after she started chanting, she would be able to help the people of Thousand Buddha Village understand Buddhism and attain liberation.
But the problem is that the Medicine Buddha Pagoda in front of them looked more and more like it was prepared for Yin Tingxue.
Whether it was Zhou Yitang saying that she had lost her destiny, or Yin Tingxue mentioning that the Medicine Buddha looked a lot like her...
It was as if the immortals and Buddhas had already made arrangements, waiting for Yin Tingxue to transcend and become a Buddha step by step.
Yin Tingxue made the people of Thousand Buddha Village realize that before saving others, one must first save oneself. Wasn't this also making herself realize it?
Once she started to recite the scriptures, wouldn't she be enlightened on the spot and become a Buddha right away...
Chen Yi wouldn't even let the Goddess Taihua become an immortal, let alone Yin Tingxue?
He wants to possess this little fox for ten lifetimes.
"If you say you don't want to study, then don't do it..." Yin Tingxue said weakly. Fearing to upset him, she added carefully: "I won't leave you." Upon hearing this, Chen Yi rubbed her head, and she obediently shook it slightly to cater to the movement of his palm.
Noticing Yin Tingxue's little action, Chen Yi smiled secretly. This little fox is really becoming more and more obedient.
I’m afraid that when I get back, I will be too embarrassed to bully others.
In that case,
Then I'm sorry to bully you.
Chen Yi has a gentle heart.
However, you must be good to her and love her more, because she only has herself left...
..............................
The good men and women in Thousand Buddha Village are truly good men and women. Eight out of ten of their sentences are about Buddhism, and they are all incredibly pious.
Every family has a Buddha and every household burns incense. Everyone chants the name of Buddha, hoping that Maitreya will come to the world.
Chen Yi inspected the village and chatted with Donggong Ruoshu beside him.
Miss Donggong is still Miss Donggong, looking heartless. She feels pity for these hungry ghosts, but not that much.
And Chen Yi was thinking about how to help the people of Thousand Buddha Village attain enlightenment and liberation.
The key to attaining enlightenment and liberation lies in understanding the Buddhist teachings.
This is the same in all Buddhist sects and schools.
The devout believers here can recite the Buddhist teachings by heart, but they are still unable to understand them.
Thinking of this, Chen Yi suddenly remembered something.
This seems to be somewhat similar to myself before I realized the meaning.
At that time, I asked the crazy sutra master and the eminent monk from the Western Regions what intention was.
The two monks answered one after another, and their words were so clear that even Yin Tingxue understood them. However, he himself still could not comprehend and did not understand their meaning.
When he arrived at the Six Desire Heavens training building, he looked into the eyes of the nun three times before he understood what intention was...
So, the reason why the people in this village are well-versed in Buddhist teachings but still have not been liberated is because they have not yet realized what mind is?
Thinking of this, Chen Yi caught a flash of inspiration and murmured,
"I, I..."
Dong Gong Ruoshu beside him looked at him curiously and said:
"What do you mean?"
A sudden question interrupted Chen Yi's thoughts.
Just as he was about to think of it, his thoughts were interrupted. After witnessing a little bit of Dong Gong Ruoshu's power, Chen Yi took a deep breath helplessly.
"My intention is the intention of the murderous knife." Chen Yi said casually.
Talking about martial arts, Donggong Ruoshu became excited. She said hurriedly:
"I also have the intention, the intention of the murderous sword."
Chen Yi glanced at her, and was a little curious, so he asked:
"tell me the story?"
Maybe my martial arts will also improve.
Donggong Ruoshu coughed twice, cleared his throat and said:
"My master told me about this meaning. He said that I have a pure heart and am naturally suited to using a killing sword. That's why I realized the meaning before I even reached the sixth level."
As she spoke, she picked up a fallen leaf.
Chen Yi watched her put the fallen leaves on the Yanling knife.
As expected, she snapped her fingers and the fallen leaves shattered.
This is exactly the same as what Zhou Yitang demonstrated at that time. The sword that kills people is extremely hard and strong, like a tree that stands out in the forest, it can even destroy the wind!
"My master once said that if a sword has true meaning, it can cut through two ounces of wind."
Donggong Ruoshu said this proudly, then turned to look at Chen Yi and said:
"Try putting your finger on my knife."
Chen Yi frowned slightly.
"Don't worry, your fingers won't break like fallen leaves. I'm not that powerful."
Donggong Ruoshu said hurriedly.
Chen Yi believed her for once and placed his fingertips on the smooth and straight goose-feather knife.
He secretly used the Bronze Bone Skill, and his fingertips became as hard as iron.
This skill was very useful when bullying Yin Tingxue on the bed. It made her as hard as iron, making the little foxes who called her by her name beg for mercy and call her husband non-stop.
Donggong Ruoshu tapped lightly with his fingers.
There was a sudden ringing in my ears!
Chen Yi's fingers felt like they were being torn apart with a sharp pain. There was a buzzing sound of metal and stone clashing against each other. The iron-hard fingertips actually cracked into a half-inch gap, and blood was flowing out.
Chen Yi gritted his teeth in pain and glared at Donggong Ruoshu, amazed in his heart.
You should know that I am at the fourth level, and Dong Gong Ruoshu is only at the seventh level, but he can injure me who is skilled in bronze bone bow.
Is this the meaning of the murderous sword?
Tsk, what if this stupid girl from the East Palace comes with a sword intent between the bed curtains? Wouldn't that be...
Chen Yi Guang felt a chill in his crotch as he thought about it.
Donggong Ruoshu was also stunned. She didn't know why she couldn't control her strength well just now.
She gave Chen Yi an innocent yet guilty smile, then lowered her voice and explained:
"This is a killing sword. It shocks and injures, cuts and kills. It is the exact opposite of a living sword."
"So...what's the difference with the murder knife?"
Feeling the sharpness of the sword, Chen Yi pulled his finger back, blood still dripping.
The wound still hasn't healed.
Without him noticing, half of the sword intent that the Broken Swordsman had left on his disciple separated and penetrated into Chen Yi's body through his fingertips.
This was Zhou Yitang’s first request.
When Chen Yi asked what the difference was between a killing knife and a killing sword, Donggong Ruoshu replied:
"They are very similar, but a knife has only one edge, while a sword has two."
"so?"
"One blade kills people, and the other blade destroys their hearts." Donggong Ruoshu said slowly.
Chen Yi's eyes widened slightly.
Donggong Ruoshu seemed to want to make amends, so he continued to speak and made his words clear:
"A knife can only kill people, but a sword can not only kill people, but also destroy their hearts.
My master once encountered someone who could not be killed, so he broke his sword into a knife and practiced sword skills to kill people.
When you are in the martial arts world, there are too many people who cannot be killed, and too many people who cannot be killed, so you use the sword to kill them.
My master once said: A sword with true meaning can cut through two taels of wind. Everyone thinks this is not as domineering as Zhou Jianjia's sword that can break eight hundred winds in the world, but they have never thought about why the Taoist commentary on the martial arts list said that my master's sword can break all laws with one sword?
Why can something invisible and intangible like Dharma be broken by a single sword?
Just destroy the thief's heart.
The law is like the wind, something that cannot be seen or touched.”
After hearing this, Chen Yi narrowed his eyes slightly.
I once told Zhou Yitang that if you are heartbroken, you will be healed later.
This is similar to the sword that kills people and destroys their hearts...
No wonder Zhou Yitang said that he was suitable for the killing sword.
At this time, Donggong Ruoshu continued: "My master said that I am heartless and naturally suited to the sword of killing."
Tsk, what a coincidence.
Chen Yi complained in his heart.
Actually, they both have the same surname, Chen.
"Then how do we destroy the thief's heart?" Chen Yi continued to ask.
Donggong Ruoshu thought for a moment and said:
“My master told me a Zen story – One Finger Zen.
There was a monk who had attained enlightenment. When someone asked him what the Dharma was, he raised a finger. His disciples saw this and followed suit. They thought that this finger was the Dharma.
So, when the monk learned about it, he called his disciple over and asked him, "What is Buddhism?" The disciple raised a finger.
"and then?"
"Then the monk cut off the finger with a knife."
As Donggong Ruoshu spoke, he made a gesture of clicking everything.
Chen Yi was still confused, so he continued to ask:
"What happens next?"
"The disciple burst into tears and was about to leave. At this time, the monk raised his finger again and asked him again, 'What is the Dharma?' When the disciple saw him raise his finger, he was enlightened instantly."
Donggong Ruoshu continued:
"The disciple mistakenly thought that a finger was the Dharma, so he was blinded by a leaf. When the monk cut off the finger with a knife, the leaf that was blocking his eyes was also cut off. At this time, he realized the Dharma."
Chen Yi suddenly had an epiphany.
Therefore,
If the problem cannot be solved by killing, then you should not kill them.
What does that depend on?
To destroy the heart!
