Rebirth 08: Rise from copycat phones

Chapter 259 Self-developed Pangu computer and X86 plan

Chapter 259 Self-developed Pangu computer and X86 plan
With the prototype of the Bluetooth headset completed, Xu Shenxue was almost done with Zhiyun Group's several important smart terminal products centered on mobile phones.

Several important products such as smartphones, laptops, tablets, smart watches, and Bluetooth headsets are already available.

Xu Shenxue’s next plan is to not only continuously upgrade existing products and introduce new products, but also use existing smart terminal products to carry out the next round of ecological layout.

There is nothing much to say about mobile phones, tablets, smart watches and Bluetooth headsets. These things are almost done well in terms of current technological standards, and these smart terminal products are almost all completely autonomous and controllable.

From various chips, screens to systems, they are all Zhiyun Group's own products.

Even the chip production is outsourced to its subsidiary Zhiyun Microelectronics.

Although the system adopts the Android ecosystem, the Yun OS system used by Zhiyun and Weiku’s mobile phones, tablets, smart watches, etc. has long parted ways with the open source version of Android. Basically, starting from Yun OS 3.0, it has nothing to do with Android, and will not be restricted by Google.

Today's Yun OS systems are all developed and updated by Zhiyun itself. They have nothing to do with the Android open source system next door. Even the underlying codes are different.

The only thing in common between the Yun OS system and the current open source version of Android is that they are compatible with each other's software, and everyone uses the same software ecosystem.

But other than that it's completely different, there's no similarity at all.

Even in the Android system, Zhiyun is the one who is holding others back...

Android has long been a joint development project of Zhiyun and Google. The research and development of each generation of Android open source version is actually jointly carried out and released by engineers from these two companies.

The two companies worked together to develop this open source version of Android and provide it to other mobile phone manufacturers for free. Google does this to promote its own software, especially services such as Google Search, as well as a series of services such as the Google Store and system push.

Zhiyun also got involved in order to continue promoting the Android ecosystem.

You know, the current Android ecosystem belongs not only to Google, but also to Zhiyun!
Because Zhiyun is the largest smart terminal manufacturer in the Android system, and there is also a smaller brother called Weiku Electronics. These two companies together occupy more than half of the market for smart terminal devices in the Android ecosystem.

To some extent, Zhiyun has become the leader of the Android system, and even the decision-maker. Its status and voice in the entire Android ecosystem exceed that of Google.

Because the two families had their own needs at the beginning, and now, they can no longer abandon each other...

Because there are too many landmines buried in the current Android open source project by these two companies. In the words of a system engineer from Sixin Electronics: This is a huge mountain of shit that is particularly prone to explosion!

It's said to be open source, but apart from allowing you to modify some surface applications, don't expect to easily change even a single punctuation mark in the core code... It's not that you are not allowed to change it, but you will have to bear the consequences if you do.

Even Google is now unable to continue to promote the Android open source project on its own.

Neither Google nor Zhiyun can continue this open source project on their own.

In other words, if there comes a day when Zhiyun does not want to cooperate with Google, and does not want to play with the Android system with other mobile phone manufacturers, and directly stops updating the open source version for you, Google will be helpless.

Other Android phone manufacturers can only continue to use old versions of Android and will never receive system updates in their lifetime.

And this is also the reason why Zhiyun Technology does not abandon Android and create another system ecosystem. There is no need for this!

As for Google not allowing Zhiyun to use Android...but Zhiyun doesn't use Android in the first place. After several years of evolution, the Yun OS system has become an independent system.

From SOC to various spare parts and then to the system, Zhiyun Technology's series of smart terminal products have achieved autonomous control.

To some extent, this is also an important reason why Zhiyun's various smart terminals can gain a foothold in the high-end market. They own everything and have their own unique advantages. They do not compete with ordinary Android phone manufacturers by mindlessly stacking hardware.

Similarly, this is also an important factor that attracts many people to buy Zhiyun products for some more unique user experiences.

----

However, when it comes to PC products, Zhiyun Technology is currently unable to achieve any independent control. Although it is better than pure assembly manufacturers, its strength is still limited.

Next, Xu Shenxue plans to develop in the PC and server fields.

However, this is more difficult to do than developing various smart terminals, mainly because there are too many patent restrictions.

In late December, Xu Shenxue convened several important executives of the group to discuss the future development layout of the PC project.

At the beginning of the meeting, Wang Kuan, vice president of Zhiyun Group and president of the PC business group, introduced the basic situation of the current PC products in Zhiyun Group to Xu Shenxue and other executives present.

"Currently, our group's various PC products mainly include the three categories of YunBook series business notebooks, Yun Aio series all-in-one hosts, and YunMH series mini hosts."

"In addition, our business group is also responsible for workstation and server products."

"Among them, our workstation products and server products are built based on our SOP-based server chip ZS1 series chips."

"In addition, our first supercomputer, 'Zhi Suan No. 1', has also been successfully developed and put into use, also using our ZS chip."

"At present, our company's Zhiyun Computing Company has begun mass production of the 'Seagull' series of servers based on the self-developed ZS1 series chips, which are provided for use within the group and affiliated companies, and are also supplied in large quantities to various institutions."

"In addition, we are also building a second supercomputer for the group's own use."

"We can say that we are completely independent in the server and even supercomputer fields. The performance of our Zhisuan No. 86 is not much worse than those supercomputers using X chips. Currently, this supercomputer has provided computing power for a large number of scientific research projects of our group, and the feedback from its use is quite good!"

"At the same time, our ZS1 series server chips have also been widely praised. Currently, several domestic server and supercomputing companies have placed large orders for our ZS1 chips for building servers or supercomputing!"

After listening to this, Xu Shenxue said: "The ZS1 chip under the SOP architecture is still very well made. Colleagues in the semiconductor department have also worked hard."

"In the server and supercomputing fields, there are no major ecological issues. After all, most software is customized. Our own Zhiyun Software can also provide some specialized software, so the difficulty is relatively small. We will continue to work on it in the future!"

"At present, many people are somewhat worried about the various servers in some important domestic institutions being restricted by foreign countries. Some ideas have been put forward for gradual replacement, especially after the release of our SOP-based ZS1 chip, more voices have been raised about this. If we work hard in the future, this market is still huge!"

At this time, Wang Kuan continued: "In the server field, our problem is not big, the main problem is still on personal computers!"

"At present, the core components of various PC products sold by our group, such as CPU, graphics card and various chips, are all imported products, and these core components also account for a large proportion of the hardware cost of PC products."

"This is also the main reason why our PC hardware products have relatively low profit margins despite their high prices!"

"Regarding the PC system issue mentioned by President Xu, our group's PC products are currently pre-installed with the WIN system. However, we have also developed our own Linux system, 'YunLPC OS', but this system is not yet perfect and has not been officially launched on the market."

As a company as big as Zhiyun Group, they like to do a little bit of everything, and PC operating systems are no exception. When they launched the domestic PC project, they also started the research and development of the operating system. Of course, for ecological reasons, they still adopted the open source Linux system, and then deeply modified it into YunLPC OS.

As for PC systems, in fact, for ordinary domestic consumers, there are no big obstacles, because cracked versions of WIN systems are everywhere in the world.

In addition, many current PC products are assembled machines, and these assembled machines are almost all pirated systems;

Even for laptops, many laptop manufacturers will launch laptop products with Linux systems, and then users can install genuine or pirated WIN systems by themselves.

This can save hundreds of dollars.

Therefore, ordinary people do not feel much restriction in the PC system, but it is difficult for institutions. For security reasons, they do not even want the WIN system, but want their own operating system. This is also the main reason why Zhiyun Group developed a modified Linux system.

This operating system project was part of the previous domestic PC project.

Wang Kuan continued, "In the PC project, we have three technical routes in progress. One is a purely self-developed PC project, which uses our self-developed SOP instruction set to develop matching desktop CPU chips, and then matches our self-developed OP core graphics card and self-developed memory, flash memory, and various chipsets and other hardware, and then matches our YunLPC OS system, the Chinese name of which is Pangu system, to do pure self-developed PC projects. This project is mainly to provide support for various institutions and enterprises, and is used in the office field."

"The project was officially launched two years ago, codenamed 'Pangu'. Our Pangu computer has now entered the prototype testing phase, but it is not yet stable. There are still many problems to be solved in various aspects, including hardware issues, but more of them are supporting issues of the software ecosystem."

"At present, our company's two core software subsidiaries, Zhiyun Software and Zhiyun Internet, as well as some domestic software manufacturers are developing and adapting supporting software for our Pangu computers."

"According to our estimates, we are expected to officially launch Pangu Computer and its matching software ecosystem in the fall of next year and start supplying it to various institutional customers."

"However, our Pangu computer is limited by the ecosystem and can only be used in the institutional field at present and in the coming years. It is still very difficult to enter the commercial field or even the personal consumption field!"

In fact, the ecosystem plays a big role in determining whether a computer is easy to use or not, especially for individuals and ordinary companies.

Nowadays, everyone is used to using the WIN ecosystem. If you take out a Pangu ecosystem, few people will use it. If few people use it, there will be even fewer software manufacturers to support it. This leads to a vicious cycle: no ecosystem, no one uses it; if no one uses it, there is no ecosystem.

Even if a giant enterprise like Zhiyun Group and a large number of institutions jointly promote it, it is still very difficult.

Therefore, in the short term or even in the medium term, don’t expect to see Pangu computers in the civilian market!
After listening to this, Xu Shenxue said: "The initial goal of Pangu Computer is to provide safe computers to institutions. The private market is not considered for the time being, but we must provide good supporting facilities for institutional offices, especially office software and some popular software. Institutions may not be able to do this, so we must provide good services."

"Well, I'll find a time to invite some important domestic software manufacturers over for dinner, have a chat with them about this issue, and then your PC department can come up with a software adaptation incentive in advance!"

"We can't let them go to so much trouble to develop supporting products for us and not get any benefits at all. We still have to give them the support and incentives they deserve. Just think of it as paying for customized software!"

"No matter what, when Pangu Computer is launched next year, the adaptation issues of important office and commonly used software must be solved, whether it is developed by ourselves, jointly developed, or adapted by software manufacturers, it must be solved!"

"Don't worry too much about the funding. I will instruct the finance department to inject more funds into the Pangu project!"

In the end, all these costs will be paid by the organizations that purchase these computers. After all, they requested these computers themselves, so they naturally have to be aware of the high costs.

Otherwise, if it was from a purely commercial perspective, Zhiyun would not have undertaken such a niche market project that did not make much money.

To some extent, developing this purely self-developed Pangu computer is the social responsibility undertaken by Zhiyun Group.

Wang Kuan nodded after hearing this: "I will give the order. Don't worry, Director Xu, when Pangu Computer is launched on the market next fall, it will definitely be at a usable level!"

"The next step is our second technical route, which is to develop X86 chips for the existing X86 system, and then pair them with our OP series graphics cards. Finally, we will pair them with various chipsets, memory, and flash memory in our self-developed X86 system to launch our self-developed X86 computers to the market."

"But we have not yet solved the patent licensing issue for X86. So even though we have started the early development of X86 chips, the future is still uncertain. After all, if we cannot obtain relevant patent authorization, we will not be able to produce X86 chips for commercial use!"

Xu Shenxue also felt a bit of a headache about the second technical route, which was the self-developed X86 computer project.

The previous Pangu computer project was actually quite smooth because there was no need to consider the civilian market. The only problem was that the ecosystem was not sufficient. However, many institutions do not need any ecological content, and many software are specially customized. At the same time, Zhiyun is also actively contacting major software manufacturers for supporting services.

Even if we take a step back and say that even if Zhiyun cannot solve the ecological problem in a short period of time, it will still force its way forward...that's what they were planning to do anyway.

However, the self-developed X86 project is different. This thing is aimed at the commercial market and the personal consumer market. You can't bypass the X86 instruction set and develop it independently. If you bypass it, it will be Pangu Computer.

However, the current X86 instruction set has serious patent issues, and Zhiyun does not have this patent!

Even though Zhiyun Semiconductor, a subsidiary of Zhiyun, has the ability to design X86 chips, and Zhiyun Microelectronics has the ability to manufacture X86 chips on a foundry basis, it is still unable to manufacture X86 chips for commercial use due to patent restrictions.

This is what makes it very difficult.

Then there is the graphics card issue, which is a bit simpler and does not involve any major patents or technical barriers. Zhiyun Semiconductor has even developed the OP4000 graphics card, which is quite good in hardware. Its hardware computing power is directly comparable to that of contemporary high-end graphics cards, but its game support is too poor. In actual use, it is probably no different from a mid-to-low-end A or N card.

The main problem lies in whether large-scale games or software can provide you with adaptation support. Zhiyun cannot solve this problem alone and can only rely on time to solve it slowly.

However, for high-performance independent graphics cards, playing games is the most important application. If the gaming performance is not good enough, it basically loses its main value.

But even so, Zhiyun Semiconductor still plans to officially release the OP4000 graphics card to the market in the spring of next year.

If you want game manufacturers to adapt your graphics card, you must have a graphics card first!
At the same time, Zhiyun Semiconductor's graphics card department has begun to proactively contact some game manufacturers, and then go over to provide optimization for OP graphics cards... But even so, it is very difficult.

As for the future high-end performance graphics cards, Zhiyun Semiconductor's OP graphics cards still have a long way to go.

Of course, this high-performance graphics card project is a purely commercial project, and its success or failure will not have much impact on some of Zhiyun Group’s current PC projects.

Because Zhiyun's computers are basically aimed at office use, whether it is Pangu computers or the subsequent self-developed X86 computers, they are all aimed at the office market.

In the office market, the requirements for graphics cards are not that high in most scenarios, and Zhiyun's OP graphics cards can easily cope with it. Only some office software in special fields such as video processing will have certain special requirements for graphics cards, but it is not a big problem.

----

In fact, from the system to the CPU, to the graphics card and various chipsets, there are no longer too many technical difficulties for large enterprises like Zhiyun Group that have strong chip design and production capabilities as well as rich and mature system software R&D personnel.

If you ignore the patent issue, Zhiyun Group will be able to copy for you a complete set of PC computers based on the 86-nanometer process X architecture in at most one year, and then pair it with a pirated WIN system.

It can be used and is very easy to use.

But it is obvious that Zhiyun Group cannot do this!
Unless something extreme happens, such as World War III, as long as the world's environment does not completely collapse, Zhiyun will not do such a thing that blatantly breaks all the rules. If he does, he will be sued to bankruptcy!
And if you can do it, others can do it too... Do you still want all those Zhiyun patents?
Do you still want this overseas market?

Restricted by various patents, it is impossible for Zhiyun Group to openly break the rules. At most, it can conduct some research in private.

Xu Shenxue has also accepted some special commissions before: For the X86+WIN ecosystem, Zhiyun must also make good technical reserves and be able to step up at any time!
An enterprise of Zhiyun's size always has to take on a lot of extra things.

A company’s sense of social responsibility cannot be achieved by just paying a few lip service and donating some money!

Since its establishment, Zhiyun has received all-round support.

Having received so much support, Zhiyun also needs to shoulder what it should do as a giant high-tech enterprise in China!
whats the matter?
It’s hard to say about other things, and no one will ask you to do it, after all, your major is not related to it!
However, in the field of semiconductor design and manufacturing, as well as the extended computer field, the smart terminal field is your responsibility as Zhiyun.

Remember the key word: responsibility!

Don’t talk about whether you are foreign-controlled, privately owned, or listed on the U.S. stock market. That’s all nonsense. As long as Zhiyun is a Chinese company, you should shoulder such responsibilities.

Otherwise, do you really think that Zhiyun Technology's market value of more than 500 billion US dollars was achieved by Xu Shenxue, or just a system... That would be too much of an underestimation of the world!
If you want to create a large-scale high-tech giant like Zhiyun Group, the right time, right place and right people are all essential.

Xu Shenxue and the system only play a part in it at most.

------

Due to patent restrictions, Zhiyun Group is currently unable to directly develop X86 computers for commercial use, but there are solutions.

During the meeting, Wang Kuan mentioned an important piece of information during his introduction: "The current x86 patents are not exclusive to Intel. AMD and VIA both have X86 patent licenses!"

"Intel is of course not feasible, they have no intention of external cooperation!"

"However, in recent years, VIA's X86 chip business and corresponding chipsets have shrunk significantly. Currently, their X86 chips can only be found in the low-end market, and their market share is very small. The overall business has suffered serious losses. They are currently trying to find partners to save this part of the business, and if possible, they may even sell this part of the business."

"At the same time, in 10, Intel was forced to modify its patent terms with AMD, Nvidia and Via when facing antitrust lawsuits, allowing these companies that had obtained X86 patent licenses to cooperate or merge with other companies and use X86 technology."

"This means that we can establish a joint venture company to obtain their X86 patent license!"

"In addition, they have a large number of patents and technologies for various chipsets. Their previous chipsets actually had a very large market share in the PC market, but they have not been doing so well in recent years. However, the foundation is still there, especially the large number of patents, which we urgently need."

"We have already sent a team to contact them. They are very interested in this merger proposal. After all, they can no longer do it themselves, but they are unwilling to abandon it directly. If we take over and they get a part of the shares of the new company, it will be of great benefit to them."

"After all, we are Zhiyun, and they also want to rely on our strength to make this part of the business more profitable!"

Xu Shenxue was not quite clear about this. There were too many things going on in Zhiyun Group and he did not know everything.

After all, he had never paid much attention to the X86 project before, and this is the first time he heard that the group is in contact with VIA for cooperation.

He immediately said: "This approach is quite good. It can solve the patent licensing issues of the X86 instruction set and other chipsets."

"But I have one request, that is, we must hold a controlling stake in the new joint venture, and it must be an absolute controlling stake. Even if we have to pay a little more in terms of capital and technology investment in the joint venture, that is acceptable!"

The holding of controlling shares is directly related to whether Xu Shenxue's scientific research system can be used in the company... Only employees of the companies controlled by Xu Shenxue can use the scientific research quotas in the scientific research system.

So controlling stake is a must.

Otherwise, the system will not be usable and will lose its competitiveness.

Wang Kuan said: "We are discussing with the group's strategic investment department to solve this problem, but I don't think it will be a big problem. After all, we need these, and the other party has them but they are not doing well. They want to use this part of the business to recover funds and gain more benefits in the future. They have no reason to refuse our real money!"

Xu Shenxue said: "That's good. Let's continue to push this forward. I look forward to seeing the results. If the negotiations don't go smoothly, don't make decisions on your own and report to me in a timely manner!"

"As long as the conditions are not too excessive, such as requiring us to invest more funds, in principle we can agree to them."

Although the cooperation with VIA is just a joint venture on the surface, if it is handled well, it will be almost the same as an acquisition. Zhiyun will be able to obtain absolute controlling rights in the new joint venture.

"In addition, we can't just focus on one company when doing things. We can also give AMD a try. It's a good thing no matter which one succeeds."

If it were 86 years ago, you would never even think about licensing X10 patents!
But it became feasible only 10 years later after Intel was investigated for antitrust violations and AMD and VIA both won the case.

Originally, China used this method to establish joint ventures with VIA and AMD to develop domestic X86 CPUs and various chipsets, namely Hygon and Zhaoxin.

However, even with the patent authorization, their chip design capabilities were not up to par, so it didn’t make any waves.

In the original time and space, most people probably have never heard of domestically produced X86 chips, and there are more than one type...

It's also sad!

There is no way. Even in the specific field of chip design, I can’t compare with others!

However, this is not a big problem for Zhiyun Semiconductor. Zhiyun Semiconductor's chip design capabilities are definitely world-class.

Its overall chip design capabilities are comparable to those of Intel, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Apple and other companies.

At this time, Wang Kuan said: "I will instruct them to contact AMD as well. According to the current situation, we should be able to have initial results within two or three months, and then establish a joint venture!"

After that, Wang Kuan opened a new page of the PPT and began to talk about the third technical route of their PC project, which is also the technical route that Wang Kuan personally, Xu Shenxue and other senior executives of the group attach the most importance to.

"In the group's PC project, our third technology route, which is also the most important technology route in our business group, is the ARM computer project."

"We will use the desktop-level chip based on the AMR architecture, paired with the YunS OS system, which is a deep improvement of our Yun OS system, and then build our Zhiyun PC ecosystem. In the future, it will be able to be applied to our existing PC products, including ultra-thin notebooks, all-in-one computers and mini hosts."

"We have officially launched this project in the first half of this year, and it is currently in the early stages of system and chip development!"

When Xu Shenxue heard this, he also listened carefully!
ARM computers, this path seems difficult, but there are already successful examples in the original time and space, that is, a series of PC products with Apple's M series chips.

They use the M series chips based on ARM architecture, plus their own MAC system, and then use a large number of ecological applications on existing Apple mobile phones and tablets.

At the same time, it leverages its strong brand characteristics to drive software vendors to adapt.

In the end, it was a huge success, allowing Fruit to get rid of its dependence on Intel and completely get rid of its compatibility dependence on WIN.

The M series of Fruit notebooks launched by the original time and space are all Fruit's own products from top to bottom. You can play with them however you want, which is of strategic significance for building the group's ecology.

As for Zhiyun, it naturally wants to develop this kind of strategic-level PC product and extend its own ecosystem from mobile phones and tablets to the PC field, especially the notebook field.

At the same time, Zhiyun Group also has the conditions to develop ARM notebooks
First of all, Zhiyun has strong chip design capabilities, has obtained permanent authorization for the ARM architecture, and has developed a number of its own mobile phone SOC chips based on the ARM architecture.

Among them, the S304 chip used in tablet computers has extremely powerful performance.

On this basis, it is difficult to develop a desktop version chip based on the ARM architecture and Zhiyun's self-developed architecture, but there are no insurmountable obstacles, unlike the X86 chip, which is not allowed to be developed.

In terms of systems, Zhiyun's core system, the Yun OS system used in mobile phones, has developed into multiple series, including the YunPad OS system dedicated to tablets.

Zhiyun Software, which is responsible for system business, has been making in-depth improvements to the Yun OS system and its separated subsystems.

Now, they are trying to modify this system into a PC operating system, which is the YunS OS project.

This YunS OS project will refer to and adopt some of the technical features of the YunPad OS system, mainly to continue applying the ecological content on this system.

Zhiyun's tablet computer has accumulated some unique ecological content. In addition to some conventional Internet ecological content, there are also many office software, production tool software, etc.

For example, Kingsoft in China has a tablet version developed specifically for Zhiyun tablets.

And these ecological contents can also be ported to the new ARM architecture PC system.

After all, they are all Zhiyun's own system ecosystem. Zhiyun can fully make the PC system based on ARM architecture compatible with these tablets and even mobile phone ecosystem content.

Therefore, Zhiyun's plan to develop an ARM-based notebook is already feasible from hardware to system to ecological content.

Finally, and most importantly, in terms of brand appeal, Zhiyun’s current appeal is not much worse than that of Fruit. If it is limited to the domestic market, then Zhiyun’s appeal is among the top.

To put it bluntly, if Zhiyun cannot forcefully launch a new ecological content in China, it will be even more impossible for other manufacturers.

When Zhiyun was planning to develop tablet computers, it had already proved its appeal. As soon as many software manufacturers heard that Zhiyun was planning to develop tablet computers, they basically followed suit and developed corresponding tablet versions.

This is more evident in the Zhiyun mobile phone software ecosystem.

Contemporary domestic software manufacturers develop mobile phone software and generally make several versions: one is the fruit version, one is the Zhiyun version, that is, the Yun OS system version, and the last one is the domestic general Android version.

These software manufacturers even develop exclusive versions specifically for Zhiyun phones. There is nothing they can do about it as the market share of the Yun OS system is too high. It accounts for almost 50% of the domestic market share and about 30% of the global market share.

The current Yun OS system is a very powerful existence in mobile phone operating systems!
In this case, if Zhiyun wants to develop laptops based on the ARM system in the future, it can utilize a large amount of existing Zhiyun ecological content, and at the same time it can also call on a large number of software manufacturers to develop specialized ecological content.

Therefore, from the perspective of hardware and ecology, brand appeal, patent restrictions and other aspects, Zhiyun actually has the basic conditions to make ARM architecture notebooks.

Of course, these are just the basic conditions. If you want to do it specifically, it is still very difficult. Not to mention anything else, just using the ARM architecture to make a chip that meets the performance of a notebook is not an easy task.

As for the ARM architecture, low power consumption is its biggest feature. However, while low power consumption brings excellent battery life, it also brings performance deficiencies.

It is still quite difficult to utilize the ARM architecture to produce high-performance desktop-level chips while maintaining the advantages of low power consumption and long battery life.

Although there are many big names in Zhiyun Semiconductor and they have deep technical accumulation in this area, it will take more than one or two years to achieve success.

Then the YunS OS system is not something that can be developed in a day or two. After all, the computer operating system and the mobile phone operating system are very different. At the same time, the computer operating system is also required to be compatible with a series of mobile phones and tablet apps.

This brings greater technical difficulty.

Therefore, the development of the entire operating system also takes time.

At the same time, if Zhiyun Group wants to develop such a heavyweight product, it must also carry out various software adaptations in the early stage. At that time, Zhiyun Group will mobilize the strength of the entire group and call on a large number of software suppliers to adapt its new computer system.

If the fruits in the original time and space can do it, there is no reason why Zhiyun can’t do it!

For Zhiyun Group, the ARM computer project is a medium-term plan. It would be great if it could be launched within three or four years.

But no matter what, this project is the one that Xu Shenxue attaches the most importance to. It is an important strategic plan for building the smart cloud ecosystem, extending the smart cloud ecosystem from mobile phones and tablets to the PC field.

After a strategic meeting, Xu Shenxue had an idea of the three computer projects in his company.

However, for many things, it is not enough to rely solely on employees to push forward. Sometimes Xu Shenxue also needs to step forward in person to push forward.

For example, regarding the important X86 patent licensing issue, at the end of December, Xu Shenxue specially met with VIA's negotiation team that came to Shenzhen.

When the two parties had disagreements on price during the negotiations and the investment department employees were unable to make a decision, Xu Shenxue had a brief chat with the other party's person in charge and then had dinner.

When the bosses of both sides sit down and talk, the progress will naturally be very fast.

Employees may not give up an inch for millions or tens of millions of dollars, but to the big bosses on both sides, this is just small money.

So after the conversation went smoothly, we reached an agreement quickly.

Subsequently, a contract was formally signed, and the two parties will work together to establish a chip design company named "Weichi Technology". The company will obtain X86 patent authorization and a large number of PC chipset technologies and patents.

Zhiyun Semiconductor, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zhiyun Group, holds 73% of the shares of Weichi Technology. In order to obtain such a high share, Zhiyun also paid a greater financial cost.

As a result, Zhiyun Group officially obtained the patent authorization for X86 and can legitimately, legally and compliantly design, produce and sell X86 chips.
