Chapter 43: The Plot Against Reddington
Chapter 43: The Plot Against Reddington
Everyone knew about Gina and Kerry's situation, and they all nodded when they heard this.
Cooper immediately said: "Don, contact Richard and Gina! Mira, ask the police for the complete video, at least including the first ten minutes! Aram, contact Reddington or Dembe to see what they know?"
Mira immediately contacted the DC Police Department again, and Donald and Aram also started making calls...
Donald put down his phone first and said, "I can't get through to Richard and Gina."
Aram said: "I contacted Dembe, and he said that Kerry and Gina left after having dinner with them... Judging from the time, Kerry should have arrived at this road less than two minutes ago when he shot."
Cooper said firmly: "Then we have to find out what happened in these two minutes!"
After a moment, Mira said, "The police said that the surveillance hard drive was taken away by the DOJ Criminal Division, leaving them with only this video, and asked them to issue a wanted warrant for Kerry and Gina!"
DOJ Criminal Division? Everyone was stunned. Donald frowned and asked, "What are they doing?"
"Cover up the truth and prove that Carrie killed someone." Mira said. She has seen a lot of such things in the CIA.
Cooper thought of a person, Diane Fowler, the head of the Criminal Division. This woman always gave him a bad impression, and she had a prejudice against SER. Was this incident caused by her? Thinking of this, he couldn't help but look at Mira, who was forcibly arranged by Diane.
Then, Cooper arranged the tasks: "Tang, go to Carrie's house and see if you can find any clues; Aram, try to find the complete video; Mira, come with me."
A few minutes later, in the office, Cooper looked at Mira who was sitting opposite him and asked, "Mira, I suspect this is related to Diane, what do you think?"
"Me too." Mira said directly, "Diane can do it."
"Why?" Cooper asked puzzled.
"I think the trouble was caused by the hard drive with the program printed on the new dollar." Mira said, "It took half an hour from the time Carrie and Gina shot Wolfe to the time the state police and we arrived. Another half an hour later, people from other relevant departments arrived. Because of this time, some people would suspect that Carrie copied the hard drive or hid something."
Cooper was a little surprised. He had not thought that this was the reason. He asked doubtfully, "Is this hard drive so important?"
"Yes." Mira said, "I asked my friends in DHS and CIA. The Federal Reserve is very nervous about this matter and requires severe crackdowns on the Rad Party that dares to tamper with the dollar printing process... I think this is also the reason why some people want to take action against Kerry and Gina now."
Cooper nodded. He knew what the Federal Reserve was like! "If that's the case, then someone in the government wanted to attack Richard and his friends, and he fought back?"
"Not necessarily." Mira shook her head and said, "There are also people who want to get the program hard drive... people like Reddington."
"So tell me, is it possible that Reddington did it?" Cooper asked.
"I'm not sure." Mira said. At this moment, the phone in front of Cooper rang. Mira stood up and left. She stopped at the door and said, "Cooper, no matter which side they are from, if they can't get an answer from Kerry, the next step will be us." After that, she opened the door and went out.
Cooper was stunned for a moment, then he reached out and answered the office phone...
The call was from the deputy minister in charge of SER, who told him that the Washington DC Police Department had reported that SER members Kerry and Gina were wanted for murder in the street, and then asked him what exactly happened?
Cooper reported to the deputy minister what they had discussed before, especially Mira's speculation, and pointed out that there was something behind this matter. First, who was beaten to death? Secondly, why did the Criminal Division intervene and take away the complete video?
After a moment of silence, the deputy minister said that she would pay attention to the matter, and then said that DHS had received reliable intelligence that a man named Ansor Garrick was going to assassinate Reddington; in order to protect "important FBI assets", she asked the SER team to take Reddington back to the post office for protective detention.
Cooper was about to ask Reddington if he knew about Carrie, and he immediately nodded and agreed.
Because Reddington was wearing a micro-locator, Aram quickly determined his location: Munich, Germany.
Donald didn't find any clues from Carrie's house. After returning, he received a new mission. He and Mira went to Germany to bring Reddington back.

On the afternoon of October 10, Donald and Mira brought Reddington, Dembe and Zeng Luli into the post office, and immediately turned against them, confiscated their weapons, and took the three of them under control.
Reddington was surprised and asked what this meant. What happened to Elizabeth? When Donald and Mira found him in Germany, they said that Elizabeth was arrested and under investigation. He needed to go back to testify. He came back without saying a word, but he didn't expect that he would be arrested too.
"Elizabeth is fine." Cooper explained, "You are the one who is in trouble. We have received accurate intelligence that someone is trying to assassinate you. It is too dangerous for you to stay outside, so we are under the order of the ministry to place you in protective custody."
"Ha! I've encountered many dangers before, and it wasn't necessarily that you would come to protect me." Reddington sneered, "Let me go quickly, there are still many things to do!"
"No." Cooper refused. "The department received intelligence from DHS (Department of Homeland Security). This assassination is different from the past. It is organized and carried out by an extremely dangerous person. We are ordered to protect you in the post office."
"If there really was an extremely dangerous person who wanted to kill me, I would have gotten the information long ago!" Reddington still didn't believe it. "Tell me, who is so dangerous?"
"Ansor Garrick," Cooper said.
At this point, Reddington opened his eyes wide, was stunned for a moment, then laughed and said, "Well, now I know how bad your intelligence work is! Cooper, do you know what this Garrick is best at?"
Cooper frowned, and Donald asked, "What's he best at?"
Reddington said: "Garrick will organize powerful fighters to rescue or capture detained high-level targets. He once rescued Mohammed al-Azok from a CIA black house like Alcatraz in the Bering Sea..."
"That was done by the Shining Path, a Peruvian anti-government organization." Mira, who came from the CIA, disagreed. "Azok has connections with money launderers in the Caribbean."
