Chapter 16 Confirming the Identity of the Corpse Transmuter

Chapter 16 Confirming the Identity of the Corpse Transmuter
There are only about 3,000 permanent residents in Kizil, but there are more than 20 restaurants and bars. Both of them are experienced agents and certainly know how to eat in such a place. They chose the only state chain fast food restaurant in town and had standard hamburgers and kelp soup - this was the best choice when they didn't understand the local diet.

The reason why I eat first is that I am worried that I will not have time after the official action starts, so I fill my stomach first.

After dinner, the two came to the Cornish Dental Clinic and found the door locked with a printed notice on it: "The doctor is out for something and will reopen in two days." The signature was yesterday.

The two immediately rushed to the town police station and found the sheriff to inquire about Conisy's specific situation.

Stanley Cornish, 62 years old, graduated with a degree in biomedical science, got married in his forties, and opened a dental clinic in the town where he was the only doctor. He didn't have much business during normal times. He divorced in his fifties, and his child lives with his mother, who is now 11 years old...

Cornish lives in a jungle hut far from the town center. He has a mixed-breed bulldog that he takes with him wherever he goes. He opens a clinic in town two or three days a week. No one knows what he does the rest of the time, and of course no one cares about it.

Hearing this, Carrie and Elizabeth looked at each other and were basically certain that this person was the "Corpse Transmuter". From the notice posted on the door of the clinic, they determined that he had left early yesterday morning, probably to "work" in Washington, but he did not receive a target at the time and the mission could not be carried out. He may have returned now or may return at any time.

In this case, the two decided to go directly to his residence to check, hoping for good luck.

The sheriff was willing to help lead the way, saving them a lot of trouble. However, when they were about to reach the jungle hut, they asked the sheriff to stop the car and let him go back first, as the things they had saved were not suitable for him to participate in.

The two parked the car in the woods in the distance and walked towards the cabin. They observed from a distance but did not notice any movement. The curtains on the windows were drawn and they could not see inside.

The two of them moved closer, until they were more than thirty meters away, but still did not find anything.

Kerry thought for a moment, found an egg-sized stone nearby, threw it hard, and it hit the side door of the cabin, making a loud "bang" sound, but then there was still no sound! They knew that Cornish had a dog, and it was impossible for it not to react to such a sound, which also meant that it was not at home.

"Richard, shall we go in and take a look?" said Elizabeth.

"Not good." Kerry shook his head and said, "Cornishi is very experienced. If someone broke into the house, he would definitely notice it!"

"What shall we do?" said Elizabeth. "Shall we just wait here?"

Carrie thought for a moment and said, "Well, I'll install a surveillance camera here to observe the door of the cabin. If he comes back, we'll know." After that, he motioned for her to wait aside. He looked around, found a medium-height fir tree, climbed up in a few steps, took out a small wireless camera from his pocket, installed it on the trunk, adjusted the angle, and aimed it at the wooden house in the distance.

The two then slowly retreated, cleared the traces they had left behind, and returned to the SUV.

Carrie asked her to get in the car first, then he broke off some leafy branches from the side that was not in the sun, and brought them back to cover the body of the car, which was considered a simple concealment, and then he returned to the car.

It was nearly 5 o'clock in the afternoon. As the sun set in the west, the light in the dense woods began to dim and the temperature dropped rapidly. Fortunately, the temperature in the car was still high enough so it was not cold.

Kerry looked at the surveillance footage on his laptop and found that there was still no movement in front of the cabin door, so he began to back off. This place is a hilly forest, and the temperature must not be high after nightfall. If it were him, he could take out various supplies from the space mall to use, but with Elizabeth around, things would be difficult! After thinking about it, he said, "Elizabeth, how about we go back to town first and talk about it tomorrow?"

Elizabeth said, "If we stay overnight in the town, many people will see us, and the news will probably reach Cornish's ears. If he runs away, it will be difficult to find him again!"

Of course, Kerry knew this, but did he really have to wait in the woods all night? Well, he could only think of a way, but he still had to tell his boss about it. He said, "Then call Cooper and tell him about it, so they won't worry."

So Elizabeth took out her phone, called Cooper, and told him the current situation.

Hearing that the two were going to spend the night in the mountains, Cooper told them to be careful and told them that Donald and Mira went to the court's detention center today to question the drug lord Lorca, hoping to get information about the "Corpse Disintegrator", but the other party was very stubborn and refused to admit that he had hired a killer. In view of the fact that he had contacted Reddington and there was a possibility of absconding, the FBI had notified the prosecutor to transfer him to the prison for serious criminals, and the transfer had already begun...

After hanging up the phone, Elizabeth told Kerry about it.

At first, Carrey didn't react, but then, he connected the words Lorca, transfer, and transshipment together, and realized the problem. He immediately took out his cell phone and called Cooper, but the line was busy! He called Donald, but the line was also busy...

Elizabeth looked at him and wondered what had happened, so she asked, "What's the matter, Richard?"

"I don't think Lorca will be willing to be sent to a prison for serious criminals. He will probably arrange for his men to hijack the prison van!" Carrie said, "Elizabeth, contact Aram and ask him to notify the bailiffs to be careful. I'll continue to call Cooper and Donald."

"Okay." Elizabeth agreed and immediately called again.

Elizabeth had just warned Aram when she heard bad news...

At this time, Kerry also called and asked, "Cooper, what happened?"

"Carrey, Lorca was kidnapped during the transfer!" Cooper said hurriedly, "The marshals' convoy was attacked by rockets, and many marshals were killed or injured. Donald and Mira went to supervise the transfer and were knocked unconscious by the explosion. Mira was kidnapped by the robbers..."

After hanging up the phone, the two looked at each other. They were just one step away. Lorca ran away and took Mira away. It was really the worst news!

Elizabeth said anxiously: "We must go back immediately to rescue Mira!"

"No, Elizabeth!" Carrie said, having come to his senses. He knew the plot and knew that the matter would be resolved here in the end.
