Chapter 112 Can We Cooperate with the CIA?
While Carrie and Reddington were discussing confidential topics, the information reported by the SER team was conveyed to the CIA by the deputy minister in charge. What they didn't expect was that the name Luther Todd Braxton alone shocked the CIA, and they immediately asked to come to SER to inquire about the situation.
Immediately, a man and a woman came to SER with a special order from DOJ, and Cooper received them in his office.
The tall blond lady extended her hand and said, "Hello, Deputy Director Cooper, I am Special Agent Kate Goodson. Deputy Minister Wright has appointed me as a representative to serve as a liaison to SER to assist the Director of the CIA's Covert Operations Division, Pete Cacciopoulos, in inquiring about intelligence on the 'factory'."
"Hello, Agent Kate, please take a seat." Cooper shook hands with her, but ignored Pete, who had white hair, gold-rimmed glasses and a scrutinizing expression, and went back to his desk and sat down.
Pete was used to this. It was the norm between the heads of the CIA and FBI departments. He did not sit down at all, but stood by the window, looking out at the command hall with interest.
Kate said politely, "Deputy Director Cooper, could you please tell me more about the prison break?"
"Okay!" Cooper said, "We got intelligence that a prisoner named Lupi Todd Braxton will escape from a special prison called 'The Factory' within 24 hours, so we reported this intelligence to Deputy Minister Wright..."
"What's the source of the information?" Pete, who was standing by the window, suddenly asked, "How did you know the name Braxton?"
Cooper ignored him and continued, "Agent Kate, this is all the information I know."
Peter walked over from the window, stood in front of the desk, and said seriously: "Agent Cooper, you must answer my question, what is the source of the intelligence?"
Cooper looked up at him and said coldly: "Agent Pete, this is FBI secret. You have no right to know."
"That's enough, Cooper!" Peter said angrily, "I have level 4 clearance and am fully qualified to know any of your so-called secrets!"
"Ha! Even if you have level 40 authority, it's useless here." Cooper said disdainfully, "Besides, I don't welcome despicable rat-like guys like you here, please leave my territory!"
"You..." Pete was so angry that he slammed the door and left, leaving behind a sentence: "Cooper, you will regret it!"
Watching the argument between the two, Agent Carrey's eyes widened, not understanding how the situation turned out like this in the blink of an eye!
-
Carrie went downstairs to talk to Cooper about something, and happened to see a white-haired man with glasses coming out of the command hall angrily. Then, Cooper walked a blonde lady to the door and shook hands with her goodbye.
After the two men left, Kerry stepped forward and asked, "Harold, who are these two people?"
"Oh, this lady is Kate Goodson, an agent in the department, and the one in front is Pete Cacciopoulos, the director of the CIA's covert operations department, a despicable guy!" Cooper said.
Ha, they finally show up, another member of the secret society, and a big guy who controls the CIA's secret operations department! Carrie nodded and said, "What are they doing here?"
"I told the department about the prison break, and they came to confirm it." Cooper said, "That damn Pete actually asked me where the information came from, and I scolded him and left!" Huh? There is a story here! But now his main question is: "Harold, what is the CIA going to do?"
"I don't know." Cooper said, "They won't tell us, let alone let us intervene."
Well! Carrie knew it would be like this, but he didn't care. His main purpose of coming here was not to ask this. He said, "Harold, I believe Reddington would not do anything without a purpose. If the criminal really escaped from prison, I am worried that Liz might be in danger, so I want her to follow me upstairs these few days..."
"It's not enough to go home together every night, we have to be together during work hours!" Cooper even made a rare joke, "I agree, I will loan her to you first...but you must protect her!"
Even Harold was disrespectful to his elders. Carrie was speechless, but she finally achieved her goal.
He knew that the plot had been changed. Reddington had not been arrested and sent to the "factory", and Donald, Elizabeth, and Nawabi would not have to go there. Elizabeth would not have been captured by Braxton and her memory would not have been extracted... Therefore, he had to keep this achievement and ensure that Elizabeth would not be harmed.
-
On the afternoon of June 6, Tuesday, Agent Kate Goodson came to the post office again and found Cooper, saying that Braxton had indeed escaped from prison, but he did not run away. Instead, he released a group of serious criminals and controlled the core location of the prison. No one knew what he was going to do, but the CIA was very nervous!
She came this time because the CIA had applied for assistance from the DOJ, and Deputy Secretary Wright assigned her to coordinate the cooperation between SER and the CIA to deal with this crisis.
Cooper nodded to show his confession, but made it clear: "Agent Kate, there is one thing I must say up front, that is, the identity of our informant is highly confidential and cannot be shared with the CIA."
"I understand. This is not part of the cooperation." Kate said immediately. "Now the CIA wants to find out what Braxton is going to do. How big of a threat is it?"
"Well, in that case, you must first tell us about the CIA's black prison and Braxton," Cooper said.
"No problem, I've got the information." Kate said.
A moment later, in the command hall, Kate began to introduce the situation. According to Cooper's order, Alam connected the broadcast signal to Carrie's office upstairs in SLR.
Kate introduced: "The secret prison codenamed 'Factory' within the CIA does not exist in any official documents. It is located on the surface of the Bering Sea and disguised as an oil drilling platform. The prisoners are all extremely serious criminals - the kind that cannot go to court. If the crime of any one of them is leaked, it may cause social panic!"
Everyone at SER curled their lips when they heard this. This is the CIA's usual practice, always doing things outside the law!
Kate continued, "Braxton was a former Serbian soldier who later became a mercenary. He committed many major crimes in many parts of Europe and killed many people. He was considered an extremely serious threat..."
"Why not give such a person a public trial and sentence him to death? Why keep him alive?" Cooper said dissatisfiedly.
Kate could only explain: "The CIA believes that this person knows a lot of valuable intelligence and is not suitable for a public trial..."
