Chapter 85: The Demonic Attack
Chapter 85: The Demonic Attack
"Complete--"
As soon as Driver said this, everyone lost confidence in sitting back and waiting. They showed up, and in the endless darkness, the empty eyes of countless zombies of different variations reflected a strange light.
"Lightning bolts! Benefactor! We can't let them get close!"
Sylvia shouted loudly, and a cloud of daggers rose in the corridor. The rotating daggers filled the tunnel in an instant, strangling the zombie in front into pieces.
"The light of the silver moon——"
Victoria followed closely behind, and she threw a few moon vine seeds and a milky white feldspar into the crowd of zombies. A mysterious and holy light penetrated the outer wall of the mine and hit the area where the zombies were most densely populated.
This was the first time that Victoria demonstrated her attacking ability as a priest. The damage caused by the holy light to the ghouls was even greater than that of Sylvia's dagger cloud.
Following closely behind was Ron's lightning beam. In this narrow terrain, the flickering electric light engulfed almost all the ghouls. Under the bombardment of the three spellcasters, the plague ghouls were the first to be unable to resist. Their paper-mache green skin exploded backwards, triggering a chain reaction that injured or even killed a large number of other variant ghouls. The corridor was filled with the painful howls of the ghouls.
"They can't get through!" Sera waved her fist excitedly, "Go back to the abyss, you bastards! This is what you deserve!"
"Come to think of it," Ron saw that one lightning bolt was basically enough, so he did not continue to add, but turned to ask Sylvia who was concentrating on maintaining the spell, "Are the variants of the ghouls named according to Apocalypse? Is there one missing?"
"You'd better not expect it," Sylvia gritted her teeth and said, "Even though the old man specializes in necromancy, it's rare to see him summon that type."
"And we usually don't call them 'death ghouls', but demon ghosts."
"More powerful, more cunning, and even able to command other ghouls—"
Sylvia's voice stopped abruptly: "Benefactor, do you smell a bad smell?"
"perhaps?"
Ron sniffed, it seemed to come from the direction of the group of zombies.
"Ron, you are such a bad guy! Why are you bringing up ghosts for no reason?"
A human-shaped shadow passed through the coverage of the dagger cloud and moonlight, waving its sharp claws to give Ivy a mid-air blow. If Ivy had not been proficient in using the tower shield, her face would have been almost disfigured.
A strong stench spread around the thin figure. Fortunately, Ron smashed open two bottles of anti-poison potion that he had prepared in advance. The faint herbal fragrance dispelled the toxins hidden in the stench, so that the demon's surprise attack failed to break through the defense line and interrupt Sylvia and Victoria's spells.
Ron had brought anti-poison potion with him before because he had heard that there might be a plague here. Although he didn't encounter the plague, it was not a waste to fight against the monsters and ghosts.
"Do you want me to dispel it?" Victoria asked as she pulled the moonlight closer.
It’s okay for demons to attack the defense line, but we must not give other zombies a chance to take advantage.
"It's useless! The ghouls led by the demons are resistant to the dispersal of undead creatures!" Sylvia said, "Sera, Driver, you have to kill it quickly!" "I want to, but this place is too narrow!" Sera's irritable voice echoed in the tunnel, "Ivy, get out of the way, I'll kill it!"
"You want to die, don't you?!"
"You two idiots, get out of my way!" Driver drew out his dagger, jumped up, and using Ivy's shoulder to gain leverage, he landed behind the demon in the blink of an eye.
Ron immediately launched a series of attacks on the ghouls behind him to buy time for Driver. The goblin hunter was short and agile, and one ghoul alone could not catch him. Instead, Driver was able to continuously leave wounds on his body.
"This is not right!" the goblin yelled at the top of his lungs, "I can't seem to kill this thing!"
The flesh of a ghoul never decays and is stiff and tough. Any puncture or cut wounds left by a dagger are nothing but a scratch to the ghoul.
"I'll do it!" Ivy finally made room for Sera. The barbarian chopped off the zombie's head with two axes, and then pulled Driver back behind Ivy.
Without the command of the demon ghost, the ghouls were nothing but wild beasts, and their numerical advantage could not be brought into play here, so they could only be gradually consumed by Ron and others. As Ivy used the tower shield to paste the last ghoul on the stone wall next to it, there was no more ghoul that could move in the entire corridor.
"My spell book is empty," Sylvia frowned and checked her spell list for today. "No more. I'm going to ask for a place to camp. Give me some time to rest!"
"Rest? Are you kidding?" Sera pointed at the ghouls on the ground. "You should know that these things can be resurrected! Do we have to fight another round?"
In such a desolate wilderness, as long as there is still a zombie left, it may survive. If given some time, it will be able to pull up almost all the zombies again. If it is not completely wiped out in one go, this monster will be more difficult to kill than a cockroach.
"Okay, okay!" How could Sylvia not know the ins and outs of this? Helplessly, she compromised, "I really didn't expect that the adventure would actually take place when the caster had no spells to use!"
"There will always be various emergencies," Victoria smiled and patted her shoulder, "Just get used to it - stand behind me, I will protect you."
"Oh Victoria - you're so sweet!"
"It's a pity that I can't help the dead at all," the ghost who had been watching the whole scene floated to the front to explore the way, "If it was a living person, I could be of some help."
Most undead creatures have endless malice towards the living, and most of their abilities are designed to target the living. Although You has no malice towards the living, she cannot change the characteristics of a banshee.
Her job was to induce corruption in the living and transform them into undead creatures, so she was really of no help at all against ghouls.
As undead creatures, her negative energy damage may even heal the ghouls in return.
"But your current mission is something none of us can do," Ron walked behind You and watched her move through the walls and explore possible rooms. "How is it, did you gain anything?"
"Uh-huh, this is empty."
