Overlord: Start from the Goblin Lair.

Chapter 438 Magical Darkness

Having a powerful wizard as a companion is better than having an entire army following him. Ron looked at the moon elf in surprise, as if he had full insight into everything.

"Some beings with strong spiritual power will drag everyone around them into an illusion. If the environment they are in is unsafe, this behavior is almost the same as a massacre," Gillianis said calmly. "Many older dragons will use similar methods to hunt, or wait for the prey to come to them, or even cook themselves into a dish."

"Some kindhearted dragons are deeply troubled by this," Swordsong Lion Armor added, "They have to patrol their territories frequently to ensure that no creature is hurt because of one of their dreams."

"So, there's a dragon down there?" Ivy frowned as she looked at the dangerous quagmire. Considering the size of the giant, if a dragon wanted to put itself in a difficult position, it would be able to live in it. "No wonder you kept saying wait, wait when we were trying to pull Ron up. Are you trying to judge his position?"

"Then the judgment is made!" The barbarian raised the Grip of Blue Waves and said loudly, "The bastard inside has bad intentions. Let's kill it and this 'nest' together!"

"Gillianis was just an analogy, my friends," Sylvia stopped the impulsive barbarian, "No one said there was a dragon in there - benefactor, what did you see down there?"

Ron pondered for a moment, and repeated to everyone everything he had heard and seen below: "There is indeed no dragon in there, but there is the ghost of the giant statue under our feet."

"His condition seems incomplete and very unstable. When I asked him questions about the brand, he seemed to be autistic?"

"And the illusion began to press towards me. If you hadn't pulled me up in time, I would have..."

"A giant who likes to talk." Swordsong Lion Armor sneered, "It sounds like a trap."

"Even for a giant dragon, it is difficult to maintain spiritual power for a thousand years, let alone guide you in a certain direction - unless this giant was a legendary wizard in his lifetime, and a legend among legends."

"Or maybe it's the guy hiding behind the scenes," Anastasia looked down with some concern, fearing that the delusional planted people whose graves they dug up were also a trap. "I think it's very dangerous. Can we stop here and turn back?"

"Although it's quite an experience to go with you guys, I still have to return alive! It may be even more dangerous down there, there may be hundreds of giants this big!"

"You heard what Ron said, Aunt Anna," Ivy frowned, "This is their king, the others should be the same size as the ones below, are you afraid of these wooden sticks?"

"That's fine if you want to back out: wait for us up there, or go back on your own?"

“No! I’d better go with you!” Upon hearing this, Anastasia shook her head quickly, “Don’t leave me alone, that would be really dangerous!”

"Any other opinions or suggestions?" Ron sorted out the spells on his equipment and confirmed that the previous failure was entirely due to the illusion. His skills were still useful. He looked around at his companions and finally asked for their opinions. "According to Nuhava, the battle below was probably the most intense. Due to their failure, both the priests and the nobles above died 'peacefully', so everyone should be mentally prepared."

"Although we don't hold out hope, we should still look for any records. I always feel that what Nuhava said cannot be trusted." Naturally, everyone had no objection to continuing to explore downwards. It would be a pity to turn back just at the last minute. However, since they knew what they might have to face, several spellcasters perfected their response strategies in advance to prevent being caught off guard when encountering emergencies.

Sylvia held a staff in one hand and a string of scrolls on her waist with the other, and continued to explore downwards after leaving this space with everyone else. These scrolls were her savings, and now they were finally useful.

But for some reason, she always felt that there seemed to be an inexplicable feeling in her heart: it was not a sense of crisis, but it was not a good sign either.

As they gradually went deeper into the last floor of the Fortress of Renaissance, her feeling became stronger and stronger. It seemed that something was calling her, or... calling the power in her body.

"Miss Sylvia, do you feel uncomfortable?" Count Richthofen, who had been led all the way here, suddenly spoke up. His scarlet eyes cunningly looked at the little girl who had once been regarded as a sacrifice by him, "Relax, this is normal."

"After all, you accepted the power of that being. It's normal to feel uncomfortable in places associated with him. After all, it wasn't given to you in the first place."

"So, your power is gained through legitimate means?" Sylvia snorted coldly, "Don't worry, I'm fine!"

"Haha... Really? Then at least listen to the old man's advice: if you can't hold on any longer, just give me your strength. Maybe I can save your life!"

The Earl fell silent again after he finished speaking. Ron and the others turned around and asked them what they were talking about in surprise, but all they got was a perfunctory answer.

When the magic light shone at the end of the stairs, the dark door of the room opened, as if to welcome them. But everyone already knew the reason: a few centuries before their arrival, a group of spore people and thorn beasts had been welcomed in, or from the perspective of this room, it should be called "welcomed out".

"The door panel has been torn into this state." Sera looked at the heavy metal plate lying on the side in a twisted shape and couldn't help but gasp. "Such a strong force! It seems that the thorn beast must have done it!"

"But it's a good thing, so you don't have to be a human key again, Ron--" Sera's voice stopped abruptly, and her figure was as swift and agile as a lioness, dragging the Canglan Grip to the front of the team.

The room was pitch black, even the elves' darkvision could not penetrate it, it seemed as if magic was at work.

"Shh!" Sera raised a finger, signaling her companions to keep quiet. A mysterious link was established between Victoria and her. Under the protection of the spell, the barbarian cautiously walked into the unknown darkness.

With the arrival of the uninvited guest, something in the room suddenly made a "clacking" sound, followed by the barbarian's frightened and angry roar!
"Sera, go to the left!" Ron immediately raised the cloud-explosive arrow that had been on the string, and shot it into the darkness composed of magic with a cluster of bright tail flames, and following closely behind, there were two more cloud-explosive arrows!

As the three cloud-explosive arrows exploded one after another, it was as if a huge earthquake had occurred in the entire Fuxing Fortress! (End of this chapter)
