Chapter 63 The First Wife Catches the Adulterer
The men rushed forward with shouts, but Shang Wan's eyes flashed with a cold light. He moved like a ghost, and in the blink of an eye, all the men were lying on the ground screaming in agony.

The woman, who had been covering her face and crying, shrank back into a corner, hugging her arms and trembling.

The rice shop owner was furious, his face turning ashen. A bunch of good-for-nothings couldn't even beat a woman!

"Stone," Shang Wan said coldly as she cleaned Lu Chengjing's wounds to stop the bleeding, "you'll pay double for how your brother-in-law was injured."

“Okay.” Stone agreed and strode toward the shopkeeper.

"You dare! I'm the young master's man!" the shopkeeper threatened, glaring at Shi Tou. "If you hurt me, the young master won't let you get away with it!"

Shi Tou hesitated and stopped, then Shang Wan ordered, "Do it."

Without hesitation, Shi Tou lunged forward and engaged the shopkeeper in a fierce battle.

He fought fiercely. The shopkeeper was old and had been indulging in pleasures and neglecting exercise. How could he be a match for a young man?
Stone grabbed the shopkeeper by the hair and slammed him hard against the sharp corner of the stone bucket. The shopkeeper screamed in agony as blood flowed from the gash on his head, smearing half his face. Where was his previous arrogance now?
Stone, remembering the need for two holes, coldly grabbed the shopkeeper's hair and slammed him against the stone bucket again without blinking.

"Ah!" The shopkeeper screamed like a pig being slaughtered, his vision blurred, and he bled even more.

If this fighting continues, someone will surely die. Seeing that things were going wrong, someone in the crowd hurriedly ran to report to the authorities.

The onlookers were in an uproar.

"Isn't he the one who ruined that young woman with the baby? Why is he hitting her now?"

"It looks to me like the wife has come to catch her husband cheating."

"You're making me laugh. Didn't you hear what that girl said? She was resting peacefully in her room when that young master broke in and took advantage of her. At least catching someone in the act requires mutual consent, right?"

"But what that young master said made a lot of sense. Could there be some misunderstanding?"

"What misunderstanding could there be? There are plenty of people in this world who are two-faced and wicked."

The people were all talking at once, saying all sorts of things. Shang Wan listened to most of it and couldn't help but laugh.

The person behind this wants to ruin Lu Chengjing's reputation. Can't they come up with a more clever way?
Given Lu Chengjing's personality—he almost spontaneously combusted from shyness over a simple kiss on the cheek—how could he possibly do something like this?
Okay, even if he wanted to, he doesn't have the means.

His leg injury hasn't healed yet, so we can't expect Xiao Huan and Shi Tou to carry him, can we? There's also Yuan Yuan to worry about.

"I didn't." Lu Chengjing grabbed Shang Wan's sleeve, ignoring the dizziness in his head, and hurriedly explained, his face as pale as if it were transparent.

"Okay, okay, don't get agitated." Shang Wan gently pinched the back of his neck a couple of times to soothe him, and only said after he relaxed, "I know you're not feeling anything. If you're upset, don't say anything. I believe you."

Upon hearing the last three words, Lu Chengjing felt a sense of relief, but just as he raised the corners of his lips, he fainted.

Xiao Huan exclaimed, "Sister, brother-in-law has fainted!"

"It's alright. He's always been weak. He hit his head and bled, so it's no wonder he was dizzy." Shang Wan took off her handkerchief and found that the bleeding on Lu Chengjing's forehead had stopped. She thought to herself that the spiritual spring water really worked.

She folded the handkerchief and put it in her sleeve, glanced at the woman huddled in the corner, and said to Xiao Huan, "Before the officials arrive, tell me the whole story from beginning to end."

Xiao Huan gently shook Yuan Yuan, who had fallen asleep from crying, and whispered, "Half an hour ago, we were driving the oxcart..."

Half an hour ago, Lu Chengjing and his party arrived at East Street in an oxcart. Xiao Huan went to various rice shops to inquire about prices and found that the prices of rice and flour were all about the same.

After discussing it, the three decided to buy it from Lu's Rice Shop.

Lu's Rice Shop was right across from Lufeng Rice Shop. Shi Tou parked the oxcart, carried Lu Chengjing off, and Xiao Huan carried Yuanyuan as they entered Lu's Rice Shop. While the shop assistant was loading the grain, Manager Ge of Lufeng Rice Shop sent someone to invite Lu Chengjing over, saying he had something to discuss.

Lufeng Rice Shop was owned by the Lu family, and Manager Ge was Lu Chengyuan's man. Lu Chengjing initially thought Lu Chengyuan wanted to see him about something, and after thinking for a moment, he agreed to go.

Lu Chengjing was unable to walk properly, so Shitou and Xiaohuan, worried about him, naturally followed him.

Manager Ge invited Lu Chengjing to the backyard to talk, and had the waiter entertain Shi Tou and Xiao Huan in a separate room, preparing a lot of tea and snacks.

Xiao Huan picked up a piece of jujube paste cake and fed it to Yuan Yuan, but Yuan Yuan, who loves sweets, turned her head away and refused to eat it.

When Xiao Huan wanted to eat it herself, Yuan Yuan suddenly reached out her little hand and knocked the jujube cake out of her hand, shaking her head at Xiao Huan.

Xiao Huan became suspicious and didn't touch the tea or snacks. She called Shi Tou and tried to leave, but was stopped by the waiter.

Stone kept the waiter occupied, urging Xiao Huan to hurry to the backyard to find Lu Chengjing. Someone tried to stop Xiao Huan, but was suddenly scratched on the face by an orange cat.

Yuan Yuan seemed to sense something, broke free from Xiao Huan's hand, and quickly crawled towards the side room.

Xiao Huan hurriedly followed and saw Manager Ge come out of the side room. Just as she was about to ask Manager Ge where Lu Chengjing was, Yuan Yuan rushed towards the side room and called out "Daddy!"

Manager Ge tried to stop Xiao Huan from going in, but the orange cat that had been scratching her earlier ran out again, jumped up and pounced on Manager Ge's face. Xiao Huan took the opportunity to hug Yuan Yuan and push the door open to go in.

There was a strange smell in the room, and some women's clothing was scattered on the floor.

Behind the screen, Lu Chengjing lay on the bed with his eyes closed. The woman beside him had her hair disheveled and was wearing only a small garment. She was reaching out to undo Lu Chengjing's belt.

Upon seeing Xiao Huan burst in, the woman screamed, grabbed her coat, and ran out. Xiao Huan tried to stop her, but it was too late.

Rumors spread quickly, and Shi Tou came looking for Lu Chengjing, wanting to take him away first, but it was too late.

The woman we just saw is the younger sister of Fang Bao, a clerk at the rice shop. Manager Ge claims that Lu Chengjing has ruined the girl's life and wants to arrest Lu Chengjing and send him to the authorities.

Shi Tou and Xiao Huan naturally refused, and as everyone pushed and shoved, a group of wild cats suddenly appeared and started scratching the people at the rice shop.

Shi Tou and Xiao Huan were overjoyed and wanted to take the opportunity to leave with Lu Chengjing, but Lu Chengjing woke up. Although he was still a little confused, Lu Chengjing knew that he couldn't leave now, otherwise the stain on his reputation would never be washed away.

Lu Chengjing challenged the woman to a confrontation, but Manager Ge, intending to escalate the situation, suggested that the two of them clarify things in the shop, attracting a crowd of onlookers.

Faced with Lu Chengjing's questioning, the woman did not answer, but only wept softly.

The woman's eyes still held a hint of spring in them, and there were several red marks on her exposed neck. Anyone with eyes could tell what had happened, and they all began to criticize Lu Chengjing.

Xiao Huan and Shi Tou naturally couldn't just stand by and watch, so they tried their best to speak up for Lu Chengjing. Manager Ge, citing their damage to the shop, ordered his staff to arrest the two men and send them to the authorities later.

Fang Bao angrily stepped forward and shoved Lu Chengjing. This was exactly what Shang Wan saw as she squeezed through the crowd. Shang Wan then learned everything that happened afterward.

After Xiao Huan finished speaking, Shang Wan frowned and clicked her tongue lightly.

Although this scheme is flawed, in this world, if it's not handled properly, Lu Chengjing's reputation will be truly ruined.

She retracted her previous statement; although the method was not clever, it was ruthless enough. If the stigma was proven, Lu Chengjing would never be able to pursue a career in politics.
