Chapter 219 Bargaining
In the backyard, the children all ran off to play in the front.

Shang Wan had just put Yuanyuan to sleep. She didn't need to worry about the things in front of her for the time being. She planned to stay in the backyard to interrogate the five people who were trying to take advantage of the situation.

These people included both men and women, all dressed simply and with unremarkable appearances. Their common characteristic was that they were all stubborn and knew nothing about anything, or they would simply keep their mouths shut and remain silent no matter what you asked.

Just as Shang Wan was pondering how to deal with these people, Lu Chengjing led Doctor Sun into the backyard.

Looking at the five people bound hand and foot in the courtyard, Doctor Sun asked in surprise, "Who are these people?"

"You're here to cause trouble." Shang Wan kicked the men one by one, sending them crashing to the edge of the millstone. She then waved for Doctor Sun to sit down.

The tea was just brewed; it's perfect to drink now.

"Good tea," praised Dr. Sun.

The tea is a product of Lingtian, specially grown by Shang Wan; you can't find it anywhere else.

Seeing that Dr. Sun was pleased, Shang Wan, who could treat her customers like royalty, immediately said, "I'll pack a pound of this year's new tea for you to take home later."

Dr. Sun didn't stand on ceremony with Shang Wan; he genuinely liked the tea.

Lu Chengjing went inside to find the booklet and handed it to Mr. Sun for review.

The booklet was filled with the unit price of the medicinal herbs. It was prepared by Lu Chengjing at Shang Wan's request, so that it would save some spittle when introducing them to others.

Dr. Sun was getting on in years, and his eyesight wasn't as good as a young person's. He had a hard time reading the small print in the booklet, so he simply had Lu Chengjing read it to him.

Of course, he didn't read out each one in turn. He named a few medicinal herbs, and Lu Chengjing quoted their prices.

Dr. Sun took a sip of tea before saying, "It's more expensive than other pharmacies in the city."

“Sir, you know my medicinal herbs best.” Shang Wan picked up the teapot and offered it to Doctor Sun. “You are an expert in medicinal herbs. You certainly understand the principle of ‘you get what you pay for’ better than I do.”

"Out of consideration for our past relationship, the price I just quoted you was the real price; no one else could get this price."

Dr. Sun has practiced medicine for many years and knows best the difference between good and bad medicine.

He snorted, knowing he wasn't really interested in haggling anyway; he was just going through the motions to appease his employer.

The price was set almost without much negotiation.

Shang Wan and Lu Chengjing saw Dr. Sun off, packing him not only tea but also a lot of dried fruit and pastries made by Xiao Huan.

The old gentleman disliked crowds and could have come anytime, but he chose the opening day. Although he didn't say it explicitly, Shang Wan understood his thoughtfulness and was naturally grateful.

When Lou Niangzi came out of the restaurant, she saw Shang Wan standing at the door and raised her hand to greet her, "The food is ready. Take advantage of the fact that there are fewer people now and quickly invite everyone to come and eat."

"Okay," Shang Wan agreed and went inside to call for help.

Someone had to stay at the shop to keep an eye on things, so they ate in two groups.

Shang Wan wasn't hungry, so she told Lu Chengjing to go first, and she took over the accountant's job.

By adding and subtracting from the ledger, Shang Wan calculated the drug inventory.

Thanks to everyone's efforts, business was surprisingly good in the morning, with sales more than double what the evening had anticipated.

Among them, the multi-purpose ointment, Yu Rong powder, and Bai Yu ointment are the top sellers, and even when sold at half price, they still make a lot of money.

Shang Wan did the math and found that she had earned 312.7 taels of silver this morning alone. After deducting costs, hiring staff, tea, and other miscellaneous expenses, her profit was around 240 taels.

The reason why the profit is so high is that Shang Wan did not include the herbs produced by the spirit field in the cost.

The first day of business was a good start.

However, the medicine will take some time to use after purchase, so sales of the multi-purpose ointment are likely to decline in the near future.

Shang Wan circled two beauty products, Yu Rong San and Bai Yu Gao, with her pen.

Don't underestimate a woman's purchasing power.

These are fast-moving consumer goods, reasonably priced. If those who buy them today find them satisfactory, many will likely repurchase. As their good reputation spreads, the women living in secluded mansions will become her new darlings.

She felt she needed to research some more good things for God, such as floral water, face cream, body lotion, and shampoo and shower products.

Which woman doesn't want flawless skin and thick, seaweed-like hair?

As for men, who says men don't like to dress up? There are still women wearing flowers in their hair on the street, and there are plenty of men buying beauty powder today.

Also, Shang Wan really wants to research aphrodisiacs; apparently, there's a huge demand for them.

With all sorts of random thoughts swirling in her mind, Shang Wan felt that the most urgent task was to recruit a skilled doctor to be her formula maker.

Spiritual spring water is indeed very useful, but a good formula combined with spiritual spring water is the ultimate weapon.

How come other people can encounter a divine doctor when they transmigrate, but she can't even see a hair of the divine doctor?
Of course, Shang Wan did consider digging into the corner of Gu'an Hall.

Unfortunately, the corner of the wall was too hard to dig out. Dr. Sun, the old doctor, just wanted to stay at Gu'an Hall to retire and wouldn't go anywhere else.

As for the others, Shang Wan thought Dr. Mei was also good, but isn't it better for someone to run their own clinic than to work for someone else?
Now we can only make do with Dr. Yuan.

Hopefully, Dr. Yuan can still unleash his potential.

·
There were significantly fewer guests in the afternoon than in the morning, and many people had some free time, so Shang Wan prepared tea and snacks for everyone to enjoy.

When Steward Zhong came over, he was also given a piece of jujube paste pastry.

Shang Wan poured him a cup of tea. The tea was rose-red in color and had a fragrant aroma, perfect for drinking with snacks.

After finishing a piece of jujube paste pastry, Steward Zhong wiped the crumbs off his fingers and got down to business.

"One hundred boxes of multi-purpose ointment and three hundred bottles of wound medicine, Manager Shang, please calculate the price."

Shang Wan said, "The multi-purpose ointment in the red box is eight taels per box, and the wound medicine is one tael per bottle, so it adds up to one thousand one hundred taels."

Steward Zhong immediately ordered, "Six ounces of all-purpose ointment and seven mace of wound medicine."

Shang Wan twitched the corner of her lips: "Manager Zhong is really joking."

"The master instructed that if Manager Shang is willing to sell at this price, he will order another two thousand boxes of Yu Rong San and two thousand bottles of Yu Rong Gao."

Manager Chung believed that the gala would agree to his offer.

Shang Wan was indeed very tempted.

She asked cautiously, "When does the latter need the goods?"

Manager Zhong said, "Sign a contract and pay a deposit first, then take the goods in batches, two hundred boxes of Jade Complexion Powder and two hundred bottles of White Jade Cream at a time."

Shang Wan asked, "Where are you planning to sell this, Mr. Zhong?"

I definitely can't possibly buy so much for myself.

Manager Zhong seemed to have received instructions and didn't hide it from Shang Wan, saying, "The capital and the Jiangnan area."

Shang Wan was making plans in her mind. She turned to Shi Tou and called him over, "You talk to Steward Zhong for a bit. I'll be right back."

Stone sat down as instructed and grinned at Steward Zhong, showing off his big white teeth.

Steward Zhong: "..."

This young man looks quite energetic, so why does he look so silly when he smiles?

Shang Wan stood up and said, "Manager Zhong, this is my younger brother, Shi Tou. Please speak first, I'll excuse myself for a moment."

Manager Zhong knew that Shang Wan would probably need to consult with someone, so he nodded and watched Shang Wan leave.
