Chapter 488 Apprentice Alley
Chapter 488 Apprentice Alley
“Lady Lilith, turn right at the next intersection, and you’ll be in Apprentice Alley!” Jenny said, turning back to the car.
"Apprentice Lane is the neighborhood with the most mages in the city and the most convenient way to get to the Mage Tower. Most mages who have a respectable job in the city or who are studying in the Mage Tower choose to live here."
We went to the red house in Xue Tu Lane, which is the only way to get from Xue Tu Lane to the Master's Pagoda. There is also a government bulletin board there.
Whenever the government office has any new announcements, they'll definitely post them on the bulletin board immediately. Even street vendors like to do business there, so we're sure to find rental information there too.
Lina said affirmatively.
The employer's requirement is that if they can find a suitable house for them within today, they will receive a commission of fifty silver coins!
They both thought of this place almost immediately.
Vasita, following their instructions, steered the carriage around a corner and onto a quiet street.
The streets are lined with lush green trees, and detached houses with small courtyards are situated on both sides of the street.
On the street outside, there are more ordinary people than monks, but once you enter this street, most of the pedestrians on the roadside are monks wearing monk robes.
Passing through this residential area, you arrive at the northwest corner of Lance City.
In that corner, there is a three-story red brick building, which is the red house that Lina mentioned.
Next to the red house, there is a street sign for Apprentice Lane. Further out, there is a small circular square called Apprentice Square.
There are also many shops surrounding the Apprentice Square.
General stores, bookstores, magical materials stores, and magical item stores are all available.
However, judging from the customers coming in and out, it should just be a low-end magic supplies store.
There is a small city gate on the northwest side of the square, which is only used by monks. From there, there is a road that leads directly to the monk's tower.
There were also some monks setting up stalls in the square.
The government bulletin board is located in this small square.
Lilith parked the carriage at the edge of the square and followed Lina and Jenny to look at the government bulletin board.
The bulletin board still displays the announcements from the government office regarding the nobility conferment examination and the next enrollment notice from the Mage Tower.
Two notices, one on the left and one on the right, occupied the entire notice board, leaving the other spaces empty with no rental information.
"Sir! I'm here!" Lina ran over from behind the bulletin board, holding a rental advertisement.
Lilith went over to take a look, and wow, the back was covered with all sorts of small advertisements.
They have everything: magic material clearance sales, lectures by genius mages in the mage tower, job postings, grand opening promotions, and more!
Rental ads also make up a significant portion of the listings, and Jenny and Lina are currently filtering through the better rental listings.
"No. 287 XueTu Lane, that won't do, it's too remote. Adults prefer a more lively place, preferably closer to the small square."
"This won't do either. The monthly rent is 30 gold coins, which is expensive in Apprentice Alley! The adults said we need something with better value for money."
"And this one, I heard the landlord is difficult to deal with and often has conflicts with the tenants!"
"We don't want this one either. Half of this house was accidentally blown up by the tenant before. It wasn't demolished and rebuilt, just repaired. There might be safety issues!"
……
The two children chatted amongst themselves as they filtered through the rental listings. Before long, only a handful of decent listings remained among the many large and small rental ads.
The two of them stood on tiptoe and tore off the address strips from the rental ads. After sorting through the addresses, they figured out the best route to view the apartments.
“Lady Lilith! Let’s go see the house! We’ll go that way later, it’s closer!” Jenny said.
“Lady Lilith! We can’t believe everything in these ads. Let’s go and look at the houses one by one, compare the environment and price, and then we should be able to choose a decent one,” Lina said.
Lilith felt the money was well spent. She had arranged everything perfectly for the two girls, so she didn't have to worry about anything.
The magic carriage quickly started moving again.
Lilith, Vasita, and Sylph want to be closer to human life, so they hope to live in a more lively place.
Moran, considering the development of the Dawn Society and their persona, requested a place with many mages and relatively affordable prices.
There were seven properties that met their requirements and had no apparent flaws based on the rental listings.
Lina and Jenny led them to visit each and every one of the places.
Around noon, they returned to the apprentice square.
“Let’s go to a nearby restaurant for a meal and discuss it there!” Moran said.
She could hear the two children's stomachs rumbling.
Lina and Jenny were very embarrassed, but they couldn't refuse, so they recommended a restaurant that was both delicious and affordable.
"Daisy Restaurant?"
"Hmm! I heard that this restaurant is the most affordable in the entire Apprentice Square, and the food is pretty good too. Many apprentice-level mages like to come here."
The main reason is that it's cheap.
The group entered the Daisy Restaurant.
Judging from the restaurant's decor, it's clearly several levels lower than the restaurant at Golden Flower Hostel, and about the same level as Silver Flower Hostel.
The restaurant is doing very well; it's already 80% full.
This time, Moran was much more careful when ordering food.
While waiting for the food to be served, Lilith, Vasita, and Sylph discussed the houses they had just looked at.
“I like number 12 Apprentice Lane the most! It’s closest to Apprentice Square!” Lilith said.
“I like number 21. That house has the biggest yard and isn’t far from Apprentice Square,” Sylph said.
“I think they’re all good.” Vasita looked at them and thought they were all about the same.
“Number 18 is actually quite good; the interior decoration is the best,” Lilith said.
……
Moran listened to the apprentices' discussion first, and when the first dish was served, she took their opinions into account and made the final decision:
"Let's go with the 21st! It's convenient to get to the Apprentice Plaza, not too noisy, and the price is good too!"
As soon as she spoke, Lilith, Sylph, and Vasita all secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
At first, I was earnestly expressing my opinions, but the more I talked, the less I had anything to say.
If Moran doesn't make a decision soon, they might have an awkward silence and a performance mishap.
Actually, it doesn't matter much where they live; these houses are all suitable for their status.
However, it certainly doesn't quite align with their own aesthetic preferences.
It's just a temporary residence for them when they're playing the role of apprentices. When they're seriously doing things related to their witch identities, they still go to their own space tents.
The mentor's advice is something that apprentices must take seriously.
Once Moran made the decision, the matter was settled.
The dishes were served just then.
As soon as she picked up her chopsticks, Moran was incredibly glad she had made the right decision when ordering the food.
