Chapter 385 Zombie Fried Rice
Chapter 385 Zombie Fried Rice
“Okay!” Lilith said, “It’s almost dawn now, and soon everyone will be heading to the biggest bonfire for the dance.”
Not long after walking in that direction, Moran noticed something was wrong:
"Senior, is that a campfire? It seems to have more wood elemental energy to me."
"That's a bonfire made entirely of a bouquet of fire crystals! I heard that Ms. Aurora and her partner specially went to the vicinity of the Green Highlands to cultivate flower fields and planted them for three whole years before they obtained these flowers."
"After the ball at dawn, the witches can freely take the bouquets of fire crystals from the bonfire as souvenirs," Lilith said.
"Aurora?" Moran felt the name sounded familiar. "Sylph's mother?"
Lilith nodded. "That's right. So Sylph should be there too."
Only when you get closer do you realize how spectacular the fire crystal flower bonfire is.
On the tall wooden frame, the outstretched green leaves support clusters of glistening red flowers, as dazzling as jewels and as warm as flames.
"Moran! Senior Lilith! You've finally arrived!" Sylph, standing by the campfire, waved excitedly at them as she saw them.
Vasita was there too: "Perfect timing! Try this!"
The figure next to Vasita, wielding a large ladle by the big iron pot, turned his head 180 degrees and gave Moran and Lilith a "friendly" smile.
Empty eye sockets, pitch-black pupils, sunken cheeks, a chin with sutures, and a mouth that splits open to the ears when he smiles.
Upon seeing it, Moran's heart skipped a beat.
Horror movies are becoming reality!
"My goodness, Vasita, is this a Death Servant? It can even cook!" Lilith excitedly went over, touching the Death Servant's hand and poking its face, full of wonder.
Vasita nodded: "This is my family's zombie chef. My dad was afraid I'd faint from hunger, so he made him carry the coffin and follow me around. I heard his fried rice is pretty good now. I just had him make a pot, let's try it together!"
“This apron was sewn by Vasita’s father! It looks so cute on him!” Sylph said.
"Wow, it really has a corpse-like style!" Lilith exclaimed. "Is that little figure embroidered on holding an empty bowl Vasita? Hahaha!"
Moran could hardly believe that the witch who had once been so terrified by her ghost stories that she couldn't sleep was now calling a grotesque corpse, someone who could easily play an NPC in a haunted house, cute.
"Are you serious? Cute?"
"Isn't it cute?" Sylph asked.
Lilith and Vasita also said, "Isn't it cute?"
The zombie chef tilted his head: "(O_o)??"
"Cute," Moran said instinctively.
After saying that, I realized, wow, this zombie can even be cute!
I must say, it actually has a kind of weirdly cute charm.
"The ball will last a while, let's sit down and eat first." Vasita pulled Lilith and Moran to sit down by the pot.
The zombie chef moved slowly and stiffly, but skillfully served three small bowls of rice and handed them to Moran, Sylph, and Lilith.
Finally, they pulled out a large wooden basin from the coffin next to them, scooped all the remaining rice from the pot into the basin, placed it heavily in front of Vasita, and then stuck a large wooden spoon into the rice.
Then, shaking his head, he went to wash the pot. Moran glanced at the mountain of fried rice piled up in Vasita's bowl, then at the small bowls in Vasita's, Sylph's, and Lilith's hands, and said to Vasita with a sigh, "He really knows your appetite!"
“This is how much I ate when I was a child!” Vasita carefully examined the large wooden basin and then said with certainty, “It’s also the basin I used to eat from when I was a child.”
Lilith looked at the fried rice in the bowl and hesitated, "Vashida, you call this a good name? Isn't the color of the rice a bit too dark?"
"Well...you know that undead creatures are generally not very smart, especially corpses. The fact that he's cooked this well is already considered to be one of his better skills."
Vasida said, taking a big bite: "Hmm...it doesn't look very appetizing, but it tastes pretty good, with a nice caramelized flavor."
"It smells burnt?" Lilith took a bite out of curiosity, but in the end she just patted Vasita on the shoulder and said, "It must have been quite a journey for you to grow up like this."
Moran nodded in agreement: "Let your zombie change its profession. You can buy ready-made food cards in the card shop now, or cook for yourself. You can also feed your stomach breadfruit. There are breadfruit cards in the card shop... Hmm?"
"Shh!" Vasita immediately covered Moran's mouth: "Oh! It's too late."
Moran: "???"
There was a "bang" sound.
When Moran looked over, the zombie was gone.
A "whooshing" sound could be heard coming from inside the coffin.
“He has excellent hearing, and he can’t stand it when I say I won’t eat his cooking. Now he’s hiding in his coffin again, isolating himself,” Vasita said.
“My mom told me that after I went to school, no one ate the food he cooked, so he hid in his coffin and refused to come out. Later, I sent him back the recipe for fried rice, and my dad asked him to learn how to make fried rice, saying that he would cook for me after I graduated. Only then did he crawl out of his coffin.”
He used to need his father to teach him step by step, giving him instructions one by one. But now, he has developed a certain degree of autonomy and can make fried rice on his own.
Mom said it's showing signs of evolving into a spiritual being.
If we temper and improve its body properly in the future, it might have the potential to become a member of the Corpse Clan like its father.
My dad packed him up and gave him to me.
I'm already struggling to feed myself, so I can't afford to raise a magical pet. The zombie chef has been cooking for me since he was a baby, and he doesn't eat or drink. All I need to do is take care of his health, which is a good option.
So they took him in as a servant.
Once he evolves into a spirit, or even becomes a member of the zombie race, he'll be even smarter, and then he'll be able to make delicious food.
Moran understood. Vasita no longer expected the zombie to feed her with a large ladle, after all, her appetite was getting bigger and bigger.
She kept the zombie as a magical pet.
"Have you named him yet?" Moran asked.
"I've taken it." Vasita poured a large bowl of rice into the Devouring Stomach, then floated the empty bowl over to pat the coffin: "Fried rice! I'm finished eating, come out now!"
"Clatter!" The coffin opened a crack, and a pair of empty eyes looked out through the crack. After seeing the empty basin, the coffin was lifted off with a whoosh, and the person shook their head and went to wash the basin.
It's clear that he really enjoys cooking for Vasita.
Moran suddenly remembered a sentence: "Being needed is the key to giving birth to a new spirituality from a soulless corpse."
“What?” Sylph asked.
“I saw that line in ‘The Origin of the Corpse Race’,” Moran said. “Vashida, you should let the zombie… well, let Egg Fried Rice cook more for you. Maybe it will help it evolve into the Corpse Race.”
