Chapter 321 Composition of Matter
Chapter 321 Composition of Matter
Magic doesn't require much understanding of processes and principles; as long as you know the result you want to achieve, you can give it a try.
In the memory of Earth, humanity has discovered countless microscopic particle structures in various materials.
Considering his magical abilities, Moran chose a relatively simple structure—methane.
Thinking directly about the structure of methane and mobilizing magic, the magic dissipated just as it began to transform into other forms of energy.
The spell failed.
I've tried many times, and it's always the same.
After numerous experiments, Moran made only one discovery: the energy that the magic was about to transform into was unfamiliar, unlike any energy she had ever encountered before. Moreover, the magic was divided into three parts, and the energy transformed into each part showed some differences just by looking at the trend.
Could it be because she complicated the magic?
Magic is inherently subjective. Based on Moran's previous experience learning magic, there is no need to understand the principles and processes by which magical effects are produced; all that is needed is clear instructions and a firm will to cast the spell.
Magic power and magical energy inherently possess the ability to be ever-changing.
Would performing the spell at the microscopic level actually increase the difficulty?
If creative magic were really that simple, why are there so few truly creative spells among current witch magic?
The witches of her generation had a far greater understanding of magic than she did.
Moran has already mastered all the elemental magic schools, and the elemental forces associated with elemental magic are inherently related to matter.
Elemental forces are present in many substances in Valen.
Elemental magic can be either a change in the form of energy, such as the Golden Arrow, Wooden Spike, and Water Dragon spells, or a change in the form of matter, such as the Metal Shaping and Stone Shaping spells.
The former did not leave the energy range, so the changes that occurred disappeared after the spell ended.
The changes produced by the latter persist after the spell ends, but ultimately do not involve any further changes.
The only creations that can truly be called transformations from energy to matter are the Clear Spring Technique and the Flame Technique.
Their spellcasting technique is simply to transform water and fire elemental forces into the most ordinary water and fire.
But why is it only water and fire magic that exists? What about other elemental magic?
Furthermore, since ordinary water and fire are composed of corresponding elemental forces, is the microscopic composition of matter in Valen really exactly the same as that of Earth?
If not, how could alloys be successfully made? Although it doesn't involve directly creating matter, the properties of alloys are largely determined by their microstructure!
Thinking of the Dean's true form that had just appeared, Moran asked directly:
"Dean! Are you still there? I have some questions I'd like to ask you about creative magic."
"You ask."
It seems the original body is still there, and the Guardian Dean is generally unable to answer these questions.
Moran voiced his earlier question. "Actually, it's not just water and fire that have creative magic. Wind, lightning, ice, light, and dark magic also do. However, the actual wind, lightning, ice, light, and dark magic created are not much different in terms of their lifespan from elemental transformations. The wind, lightning, ice, light, and dark magic in nature must rely on certain conditions to continue to exist."
Therefore, these five types of creative magic were eliminated due to practicality issues.
As for the metal, wood, and earth elements, they have not been successful, and the reason is unknown.
"Most opinions suggest that we haven't mastered enough energy levels to freely use creative magic," Amisha said.
The issue of energy levels gave Moran some inspiration. The extraordinary beings in Valen had categorized energy into different levels, with magic currently ranked first. However, this did not mean that magic was omnipotent; energy itself might be one of the problems.
However, there is still one question:
"If that's the case, why did the Clear Spring and Fireball spells succeed? They're both elemental magic, using the same basic material creation; if one succeeded, the others should have been able to too!"
"That's right. That's why this is just a guess, and the real reason is still inconclusive."
Moran, however, had a different idea: "Is it possible that the energy we all possess can only create a single form of elemental power, and there is no substance in nature composed of single forms of metal, wood, and earth elemental power as a reference? Therefore, the spellcasting commands we have been issuing have exceeded our own capabilities, which is why we cannot succeed?"
"Single-form elemental force? What does that mean?"
"Take the elemental force of metal as an example. All metallic substances are composed of the elemental force of metal. But does that mean that all metals are composed of only one elemental force of metal?"
If everything is made up of the same element, then there should only be one metal in the world.
Furthermore, many metals involve other elemental forces. Otherwise, I wouldn't have needed to use wood-shaping and stone-shaping techniques when making alloys. Although I got the inspiration for making alloys from knowledge of Earth, the fact that I used wood and earth magic means that the alloys also contain substances composed of wood and earth elemental forces, right?
Humans on Earth believe that matter is composed of microscopic particles such as atoms, molecules, and ions, and they have observed the microscopic composition of many substances through various instruments.
Different microscopic particles form different substances.
They also used this method to create new materials through a process called chemical reaction.
If all matter in Valen is composed of elemental forces, then each elemental force must have certain differences in how it constitutes matter!
It could be a difference in morphology, arrangement, or both.
Moran tried to explain it in a way that was easy to understand.
The main reason she felt was that, compared to the results of Blue Star's exploration of matter, the conclusion that Valen's elemental forces constituted matter was too simplistic, with only ten possibilities in total.
How many variations can be achieved by combining them?
Amisha roughly understood what she meant: "You mean, the elemental forces we see in our energy field are not the most basic forms that constitute matter? They may actually be subject to some variations."
The elemental compositions of metals, wood, and soil are more complex than those of water and fire, so our magic cannot directly create a metal, wood, or soil?
“That’s right!” Moran said.
As expected of the dean! She was almost confused by her own words, but the dean understood what she meant.
"Moreover, the microscopic particle composition may also exist in Valen, because I actually made an alloy based on the alloy composition of Blue Star."
I just don't know what its relationship is with elemental forces.
“That’s an interesting perspective,” Amisha said.
