Chapter 202, Part 1: The Suffering of Studying
Chapter 202 Sharing the Hardships of Studying
The other little witches were calm, but Sylph and Vasita, who had been "arranged," were devastated.
After mounting their brooms, the two of them flanked Moran, chasing after her and asking, "Why do we have to take all the courses?"
Those were eight courses! Apart from alchemy theory, the rest were all foreign language courses.
Although it may seem like classes are only held on Thursdays and Fridays, they are only held once a week, and each class lasts only one hour. It is absolutely impossible to learn a language by relying solely on the limited time spent in class.
Elective courses have fewer class hours, but require more effort outside of class.
With so many options, how can they possibly learn them all?
There are also more important required courses, and other magic that you want to learn in greater depth!
"Alchemy goes without saying, you should all learn it, right? It's for a more comfortable broom and for easier use of magical items. Other little witches don't have this talent, but we're different, so we need to take alchemy theory classes, don't you think?" Moran said.
Vasita and Sylph nodded; they had originally planned to take this course anyway.
"Then what's the point of learning the other subjects? Every race has to learn a common language, so knowing this one is enough!"
"Have you forgotten 'The Witch's Path'? Lady Tracy mentioned that when learning alien magic, one of the things you need to prepare is alien language."
This year's language elective courses happen to cover several relatively powerful and distinctive alien races in Valen, each with its own unique magical characteristics.
While language magic can be used to communicate, it will expose our alien identity!
"Learning magic from other races in our own world is much easier than learning magic in a completely unfamiliar world, isn't it?" Moran said.
Vasita and Sylph finally remembered, and then they were even more devastated.
Moran is right, they really do need to learn!
After graduation, they will have to hide their identities and team up to venture into other races!
If you can't even speak a foreign language, what identity are you hiding?
“Learning eight languages in one school year, no, nine, plus a compulsory common language—is this really something a normal witch can do?” Vasita felt like the sky was falling.
“I learned some Elvish from my father, so communication shouldn’t be a problem. It took me thirteen years to reach the level where I could have daily conversations. Now I’m learning eight languages at the same time. Can I really learn them all?” Sylph was also very apprehensive.
“It’s unrealistic to master so many languages in a year. We’ll start by taking elective courses to learn pronunciation and basic grammar. We can learn the others on our own by reading books. We’ll learn them before we go to the alien tribe,” Moran said.
Sylph and Vasita were somewhat comforted.
"By the way, did Lilith take all the language elective courses last year?" Vasita suddenly asked.
“I don’t know, I’ve never heard her mention it,” Sylph said.
"Go ask her?" Vasita's eyes darted around, and she said matter-of-factly, "Even though she graduated a year earlier than us, we'll be infiltrating the alien races together in the future! We have to go and check on her! If she hasn't finished her studies yet, she can join us!"
Sylph's eyes hardened: "Let's go!"
They suddenly increased their flight speed.
Moran: "???"
Why are you in such a hurry? The senior students might not even be ahead of them! They all leave for class together in the morning.
In dormitory 59, Lilith had just returned to her room and settled into a chair, pondering what to have for lunch, when suddenly three voices boomed in her ear: "Senior Lilith~"
She was so startled that her hand trembled, and she almost dropped the wand.
What's going on here? Math class just ended, and he hasn't even done his homework yet. Surely he wouldn't be in such a panic to come looking for her?
As she opened the door and went out, she heard Vasita ask, "Senior, did you take all the foreign language courses in your second year?"
Lilith looked bewildered: "What are you saying? Why do you want to take all of them?"
"The Witch's Path, senior, have you forgotten? Aren't you going to learn alien magic? We're going to team up and explore alien realms after graduation!" Vasita acted as if she shouldn't be acting like a senior, as if she had just forgotten that it wasn't her.
Lilith: "..." Oh no, I really forgot.
"Judging from your expression, senior, you've forgotten. It's okay, at least there's no pressure to live in the dorms in the third year, so you can study with us!" Vasita said happily.
Lilith: "..."
What do you mean, "perfect"? It's perfect!
Honestly, she really doesn't want to get up.
"Senior, we have elective classes on Thursday and Friday mornings! Remember to come to class together tomorrow!" Sylph said with a smile.
She was genuinely happy that the number of students taking elective courses had grown.
Lilith was about to say that there was a slight conflict with her class schedule and that she should decline, adding that not all alien magic needs to be learned, and that she could just choose a few that interested her, when Moran said:
"Senior, it's okay if there's a class conflict. We can use a recording card to help you record. You just need to learn pronunciation from the dean. As for the rest, you can learn on your own."
"..." Lilith remained silent for a long time.
“It’s settled then! Let’s go to the elective class together tomorrow, senior!” Vasita said, then winked at Moran and Sylph.
The three of them hopped on their brooms in perfect unison and flew away.
Lilith: "..."
Who can understand? I can't even eat lunch!
The crucial point is that she still can't not go.
Now that the younger female students have put it this way, can she, as the senior, say that she can't learn so many alien languages and is planning to give up some alien magic?
Infiltrating an alien race is not only about learning their magic, but more importantly, about spreading your own witch magic and increasing your magical power!
I need to hurry back and look through those foreign language textbooks.
After flying over the row of dormitories where Lilith lived, Moran and the others arrived at the courtyard of their own dormitory.
Vasita, no longer dejected, beamed with pride: "With our senior accompanying us, I suddenly feel that learning eight different languages isn't so difficult after all!"
Sylph smiled without saying a word, clearly thinking the same thing.
Moran, hands on her hips, said, "I don't understand. I said before that we should learn together, so why aren't you guys so happy?"
“Tell me yourself, with your memory, is learning the same concept as learning?” Vasita said.
Sylph nodded in agreement: "Besides, aren't you happy that your senior is coming too?"
They were working together perfectly just now!
"I'm happy that I can learn more with you seniors, what about you?" Moran always felt that everyone's reasons for being happy were different.
“We’re also happy that our senior can endure the hardships of studying together, no, we want her to study even more!” Vasida said.
Moran smiled: "You let it slip!"
"Let's go, let's go back and cook, I have class this afternoon!" Vasita turned and left.
Sylph chuckled awkwardly, "I'm hungry too, I'm leaving now."
Moran: "..."
You guys really have a lot of love for each other as classmates!
However, it's not bad to suffer the hardships of studying together! No pain, no gain, right?
Thinking of this, she felt a surge of joy.
There's only one chapter today, but I should be able to resume normal updates tomorrow.
