Chapter 16 Fairies in the Farmland

Chapter 16 Fairies in the Farmland
The next day, Moran was awakened by the sound of bells.

Starting at six o'clock, a bell rings every hour.

At first, Moran, who was extremely sleepy, was able to try to ignore the sound, but when the clock struck nine, she finally couldn't help but open her eyes.

I was completely woken up.

She rubbed her dry eyes, shook her tired head, and went downstairs to wash up.

There was only a little water left from the water I brought back yesterday. After brushing my teeth and washing my face, there wasn't a drop left.

There wasn't even any water left to drink.

Moran resignedly took the bucket and went out. The doors to both dormitories were closed, and Vasita and Sylph were still not up.

"Molan! Good morning!"

Good morning, Lilith-senpai!

On the water tower in the backyard of the dormitory, Lilith was filling it with water: "Going to fetch water?"

"Hmm!" Moran remained silent as she watched the trickle of water gushing from the tip of her senior's staff.

Are you envious? Of course I am.

But with the same magical spell, the Light spell last night was large and bright, while the water flow of this Clear Spring spell is so thin. Is that really normal?
"How did you sleep last night?" Lilith asked.

Moran nodded, sporting dark circles under her eyes: "Not bad! It's just that the morning bells were too loud!"

"Haha! It'll be great once you learn the silencing spell!" Lilith said with a laugh.

Moran: "..."

Great, another magic spell that freshmen are required to learn has been added.

The academy is full of pitfalls; if you don't study magic properly, you can't live a decent life at all!

Moran walked towards the well.

This morning seems like a good time to use the Clear Spring Technique.

The female students living in the front row of dormitories are filling their water tanks in the courtyard right now.

The more proficient a senior is in water magic, the more delicate her Clear Spring spells become.

If Moran hadn't witnessed her mother, Shana, who wasn't skilled in water magic, casting the Clear Spring spell, she would have almost assumed that the Clear Spring spell was all about the fineness of the water flow.

She had been making several trips back and forth between the well and the dormitory, and the senior students' "clear spring" technique was still flowing.

Fortunately, she wasn't the only first-year witch getting up early to fetch water; they all received the admiring glances of their older classmates.

The senior students were all warm and friendly, showing great concern for their manual water-fetching efforts, but none of them offered to help them use magic to fill the water tank, completely taking charge of their own tasks.

Moran had forgotten how many times she had made the trip; she only knew that the academy bell had rung twelve times before she was so tired that she could no longer straighten her arms and finally stopped.

The water tower is only half full.

I hadn't eaten breakfast, and I was both hungry and thirsty.

She cut off a small piece of breadfruit and ate it while frowning the whole time; it was so sour that she couldn't control her expression.

Feeling a bit full, she immediately stopped eating.

Even if this level of acidity is harmless to teeth and stomach, it's unbearable to eat it as a staple food every day.

However, it was very refreshing. After eating the breadfruit, all the discomfort from not getting enough sleep last night disappeared.

Not wanting to continue eating breadfruit that night, Moran grabbed a shopping basket and went out.

Vasita, carrying a bucket of water in each hand, walked briskly and steadily past her dormitory. Hearing the door open, she looked over.
"Molan! Is the water tower full? I'll help you! The upperclassmen said the college forbids them from providing us with any kind of help, but we can help each other out!"

Moran shook her head: "I fetched some this morning, enough for several days." Although fetching water was tiring, she figured she might as well do it herself if she could.

After all, this can be considered a trial given to them by the academy.

“That means it’s not full yet…” Vasida said.

Hearing the noise, Sylph opened the door and came out; she was munching on a breadfruit.

Vasita asked Sylph if she wanted help fetching water, but Sylph refused.

She got up a little later than Moran and had already filled several buckets with water.

Moran then asked them, "Want to go get the ingredients together?"

"Okay!" Sylph had breadfruit for both breakfast and lunch this morning. She was full, but the thought of breadfruit made her mouth water.

“You guys go ahead, I won’t go. I ate too much last night and I’m not hungry yet!” Vasida said.

For her, breadfruit is much more filling than regular food.

Just stuff it directly into your stomach; it's quick and easy, and you don't even have to endure the sour taste.

It couldn't be more perfect for her.

Sylph also went back to her dormitory to get her shopping basket.

"The ingredient collection point is near the planting area, you need to go that way!" Moran said, looking at the map in the "New Student Guide".

"Let's go!" Sylph waved her little hand, carrying the basket.

The two walked out from the road next to the dormitory area and turned left at the intersection.

After passing through the breadfruit grove, the view suddenly opened up.

A low fence enclosed a vast field.

Nearby are vast fields of farmland, and further away, there is a row of houses. Behind the houses, there is a continuous green hedge and high wall, and you can see the tree canopy peeking out from behind the wall.

The planting area is divided into farmland and herb garden; the herb garden is located behind the hedges.

The food distribution point is located in the row of houses outside the herb garden.

"Moran! Look!" Sylph exclaimed excitedly, pointing towards the farmland.

Moran looked in the direction she was pointing, puzzled.

The crops were exceptionally vibrant, and the large butterflies fluttered about, but nothing particularly special. More than the farmland, she was curious about what was planted in the herb garden, but unfortunately, the hedge blocked the view.

"Look at that group of big butterflies, isn't there a fairy among them?" Sylph couldn't hide her excitement: "A little person with wings, who can raise and command insects and take care of plants, just like in the 'Little Witches' book!"

Upon hearing this, Moran hurriedly went to look, her eyes wide. After staring for a long time, she could barely make out the one that stood out from the rest of the large butterflies. Her excitement was no less than Sylph's: "It really looks like a fairy!"

"Wearing a little dress made of green leaves, she must be a leaf fairy who's good at cultivating and caring for plants! She's so cute!"

Moran, who could only barely make out that the "butterfly" seemed to have hands and feet and was directing the other butterflies, was speechless.

Her eyes were practically popping out of their sockets, but she still couldn't make out what the fairy looked like, let alone identify what kind of fairy it was.

Knowing that Sylph's father was an elf, Moran wasn't surprised.

Although a witch's offspring will always be witches regardless of the father's race, witches sometimes inherit racial advantages and individual characteristics from their father's lineage.

The elves' superhuman eyesight and hearing are part of this.

Without hesitation, the two walked along the path through the fields deeper into the farmland, completely forgetting about the food distribution point.

The food distribution point is right there and won't run away, but the cute and magical little fairies aren't something you see very often!
