Chapter 40 Weaving an even bigger scam
The news from the Federal Conference Center spread quickly, but no matter how much it spread, it ultimately lacked concrete evidence. Other forces and empires clearly did not want to get involved in this mess and become witnesses.

First Army Base.

"boom!"

Brian's gloomy eyes flashed with anger as he slammed the teacup beside him to the ground: "The Virtual Star Nation's actions are a slap in the face to the Temple! Our legion has been doing its best to maintain order in the Federation. Even if we haven't made any great contributions, we've certainly put in the effort. How can we be targeted like this by Theo?! We must get an explanation for this!"

Yuan of the Third Army Corps was equally unhappy.

The Temple, the Legion, and the Enforcement Team are a unified trinity; their hierarchical relationship is inseparable. The Beast God Temple has lost face, and so have the Legion.

“But as everyone knows, a federal court summons requires actual evidence. Theo controls virtual technology. Do you think he can give you any leverage? Or, among the people of the four great empires, who do you think would come forward as a witness? They're probably all busy sitting on the sidelines watching the tigers fight! As for the Interstellar Academy, it's even less likely,” Yu An analyzed rationally.

In the base's council chamber, Phil was probably the only one who remained silent throughout. However, unlike the other two, he showed no anger in his eyes. Instead, he leisurely sipped his tea, as if he were detached from the situation.

"Phil, why aren't you saying anything?"

"Exactly. The First Legion is the face of the Temple. Normally, you should have the biggest reaction, so why are you acting like nothing happened today?"

Upon hearing their names called, Phil put down his teacup, a sharp glint in his eyes: "Then let me ask you first. When the Palace Master ordered you to be stationed in the First Legion to complete a collective mission, did he tell you what the mission entailed?"

Upon hearing this, Brian and Euan exchanged a glance, as if they were both hiding something.

"Why aren't you saying anything?" Phil chuckled. "You're probably hiding something."

The gathering of the two legions couldn't have been without reason; the only explanation was to put pressure on him and prevent Xiao Nuo from leaving the base so easily.

And these two people couldn't possibly be unaware of the details of this so-called mission.

"If you harbor filthy worms in your heart, don't stand here spouting righteous pronouncements." Phil said, sitting upright. "Always remember that we are the maintainers of the Federal order, not the Temple Master's private army!"

His voice was firm and powerful: "Disregarding the law, detaining and abusing females, the Lord's actions are self-inflicted. Of course, if you want to be accomplices, I, Phil, will accompany you to the end."

In fact, he had long wanted to make these things clear to the other two major legions, and even considered impeaching the position of the Lord of the Xuan Yan Beast God Temple. However, if he did so, who would be the next Lord of the Beast God Temple?

Becoming a messenger of the Beast God and conveying the Beast God's will is not easy. As someone whose affinity with the Beast God is close to perfect, Xiao Nuo is easily pushed into the limelight. It's a cage, and he doesn't want to use this cage to confine Xiao Nuo's life.

After saying that, Phil didn't linger. He got up and left the council chamber. He was going to see Xiao Nuo off and hoped that the two of them would understand the situation and not stop him.

Inside the council chamber, Brian and Euan frowned and remained silent, clearly pondering and analyzing what Phil had just said.

"This little female..."

"Could it really have such great magic?"

They were quite curious to see what could cause the Palace Master and General Phil to act so strangely.

……

Resettlement center.

The small courtyard outside Jiang Nuo's bedroom.

The girl, dressed in a pure white dress, leaned against the fence. Her soft, fair skin seemed to be covered with a layer of pearl powder. She gently brushed the stray hairs behind her ear, her small gesture revealing the delicate tenderness unique to girls, making people unconsciously want to protect her in their arms.

Just then, a familiar figure appeared, staggering towards her small courtyard.

Upon seeing the newcomer, the girl's expression changed slightly. She stretched out her arm, intending to immediately close the courtyard gate and return to her bedroom.

"Click." The small gate to the courtyard had just closed halfway when someone grabbed the girl's wrist.

"Let go." Jiang Nuo instinctively struggled. Normally, she would never have been able to escape the other party's grip, but today's outcome surprised her.

The crimson figure swayed slightly, as if he could not stand properly. His body collapsed weakly against the fence, his face pale and his eyes devoid of their former luster.

Jiang Nuo stood there, looking at the man who had fallen at the foot of her skirt, just like when they first met, she had fallen so weakly at his feet.

At that moment, he seemed like a king, looking down at me with disdain and delivering a cold judgment.

Thinking of this, she smiled especially sweetly: "Are you injured?"

Of course, she was asking a question she already knew the answer to.

The Federal Conference was in an uproar, and she was deep in the Legion base, so how could she not have heard the news?

The man chuckled softly and extended a hand: "Could you help me up?"

But a few seconds passed, and the girl still stood gracefully in the same spot, her skirt swaying slightly, yet she remained unmoved.

"You're injured, you should rest properly."

Xuan Yan's hand hovered in mid-air, but he didn't get the feedback he wanted. It soon fell down. His clone was seriously injured, and his main body was also weak due to its injuries, but not to this extent. He just wanted to come and see for himself...

What would the girl's reaction be?

But the result undoubtedly disappointed him.

After saying that, Jiang Nuo turned around and walked back into the courtyard, closed the small courtyard gate that was about half a person's height, and prepared to go back to her bedroom.

"Do you...hate me that much?"

At that moment, a man's voice came from behind, but it lacked the usual flamboyance; instead, the tone sounded heavy and restrained.

The girl didn't turn around, and immediately replied, "Your Highness is joking. How could I, a weak and filthy person, have the right to hate you?"

Hearing this, Xuan Yan smiled and shook his head. Sure enough, the little thing's behavior was as hypocritical and aloof as ever. Only when he provoked it would it reveal any genuine emotions, such as when it fell into the pool.

Moreover, he could sense that although the girl's smile was beautiful and warm, her inner coldness was no less than his.

Jiang Nuo ignored the people outside the courtyard and opened the bedroom door to go in, but a sentence from the man outside made her stop in her tracks.

"If I told you that the person you're relying on is just weaving an even bigger scam for you, would you still be in such a hurry to escape from here?"

"!"

Upon hearing this, Jiang Nuo's expression changed slightly.

The person you depend on?

scam?

"What do you mean by that?" The girl immediately turned around, took two quick steps to the fence, stared intently into the man's eyes, and asked in a tone full of curiosity.

"Heh." Xuan Yan chuckled self-deprecatingly, "As expected, why do you get so anxious when he's mentioned?"
