Douluo 2: This Dragon God has too much martial virtue
Chapter 569: Creation and Death
Chapter 569: Creation and Death
Mu Xing examined the Shura Sword, now freed from its sheath, with satisfaction. Its blood-red blade gleamed eerily in the sunlight. She lightly traced the dark gold demonic runes flowing across the blade before sheathing it. Then, she turned to Di Tian and inquired about his injuries.
"You should know better than me, right? I need to rest for a while." Di Tian never minded exchanging injuries, but Mu Xing had only treated his external injuries. As for the destructive divine power that had invaded his body, he left it entirely to the dragon's powerful physique to resolve on its own.
"Would you like to try other treatments?" Mu Xing twirled his fingertips, hinting, "After all, time heals all wounds."
"Hmm?" Di Tian subconsciously looked into her eyes. Her dragon eyes seemed to reflect the flow of the entire universe, and the surrounding time seemed to freeze, and space began to distort and deform.
A sudden, tearing pain struck, and Di Tian's wound, which ran from his left chest to his lower right abdomen, burst open, and dark red blood gushed out like a stream, once again soaking through his tattered robes.
Mu Xing rested her chin on one hand, while the fingertips of her other hand slowly slid down his wound. With her movement, the air around the wound began to distort and ripple, like waves on the surface of water. The blood did not evaporate in the healing spell, but instead flowed upwards in a strange way, drawn back into the depths of the wound by an invisible force.
The edges of the wound began to tremble, and the torn muscle and skin repaired themselves layer by layer, like a reversed video. Flesh and blood rewove, the cracks in the bones healed silently, and the skin returned to its original state as if time had reversed. The whole process took only a few seconds, yet it felt as if time had been compressed into a single instant. When the wound completely disappeared, only a large patch of blood remained on the robe, silently telling the story of the horrific tragedy that had just occurred.
A hint of surprise flashed in Di Tian's eyes. The wound, which had already healed, still retained a strange numbness, as if his body had been briefly pulled out of the trajectory of time.
“I remember you said back then that you only took back the powers of eight of the nine Dragon Kings.”
Mu Xing placed his hand on his chest, where a fist-sized, brilliant golden crystal was faintly visible: "Because the power of the Time Dragon King had long been taken back by the Dragon God, he was the first Dragon King to be killed by the Dragon God himself." The surface of the rhombus-shaped crystal had patterns similar to the scales of the Golden Dragon King, and a terrifying divine power surged within it.
“The power of time has always been here.” She clasped her hands together in front of her chest, and the surrounding space rippled slightly.
As the seals on the Golden Dragon King's divine core were gradually broken, she also came to master the temporal powers contained within. The power of time reversal allowed her to calmly deal with various risks; in this plane, any mistake became rectifiable.
Di Tian watched the fluctuations of time flowing through her fingertips. Given time, this power might be enough for her to freely correct the past in this world and reverse all unpleasant outcomes.
“If we could do it all over again…” Electrox suddenly appeared, his tone unusually hesitant.
"What are you thinking! At your level, you should know very well, Lord Electrox, that time is not an element, but an evolution of spiritual power. How so? I think, therefore I am, that's how I understand it anyway." Mu Xing knew what he was thinking. "Going back to the past to change history... what a terrifying idea. I've also fantasized about what a completely different future I might have if I could change the tragic history of the past. But I think if someone really obtained such power, they would be so engrossed in rewriting the past that they would stop moving towards tomorrow."
Mu Xing's gaze shifted between Di Tian and Ilex, finally settling on Ilex. "The past is dark and cannot be retrieved; it's best if neither of us looks back. Now it's time to talk about you."
“What could possibly happen to me? And what do you want me to do?” Electrox instantly became alert.
"Why do you think so badly of me? I'm not human." Mu Xing looked aggrieved.
"Then you tell me." Why is this child putting down one person while praising another?
"Look, you've been living in my mind for so long. Even if you're just a remnant soul, you should be well-preserved by now, right? So..."
“I pay for knowledge! Are you trying to kick me out so soon?” Electrolux said with a pained expression, as if he had been squeezed dry of his last bit of value (not really) and then kicked out of the house by his unworthy descendants.
"I'm just planning to prepare a body for you so that you can move around in the future. Can you please stop making such a big deal out of it?"
"Oh! That's great!" Electrox showed great interest. "I'd be happy to accept this thank-you gift, but how do you plan to present this work?"
"Speaking of which, you should have seen me create creatures using the power of creation, right?" A wisp of emerald green creative power gathered at Mu Xing's fingertips, and the light flowed in her palm, gradually transforming into a blurry humanoid outline.
"Like the Black Kite used to deal with those evil spirit masters back then?" Ilex nodded slightly. "That was more like a magical artifact made by mages on the Holy Demon Continent where I used to live. But for you, this skill seems to be just a casual carving."
"You mean that? What's so difficult about just making a shell?" The energy in Mu Xing's hand suddenly began to change, sometimes taking the form of a beast, sometimes condensing into a misty shadow. "All you need is a ball of pure life essence to shape it, infuse it with will, and imprint it with my unique mark. It will naturally become an extension of my consciousness until the energy is exhausted."
She suddenly withdrew all the light and shadow, "But you are different from them, and I have no intention of turning you into a familiar. If I were to try using that crude spell, I would only create some twisted puppets, which would only make me a laughing stock."
"So what do you plan to use as a medium?" Electrolux became even more interested. Although the experimental subject was himself, the mage had this kind of spirit of daring to try. If he succeeded, all would be well. If he failed, he could just continue being a ghost.
That's very optimistic.
As the emerald light flashed, accompanied by a crisp metallic clang, a small pile of green metal gleaming with life appeared before Electrox. Wait, the Metal of Life is used as a vessel for his body? That's incredibly extravagant!
He subconsciously turned to look at Di Tian, after all, he knew the origin of these living golds better than anyone. But to his surprise, he seemed completely indifferent to Mu Xing's handling of these life-attribute treasures.
“I don’t have that kind of inexplicable possessiveness towards her property.” More than that, Di Tian seemed more curious about how she would demonstrate the power she possessed.
With a light tap of his fingertips, Mu Xing caused the precious life-giving gold to begin to writhe as if it were alive, shimmering with a dazzling halo. Electrox could even feel the immense life force contained within it.
"What's wrong?" Mu Xing noticed his lapse in composure, a playful smile playing on her lips. "Do you think using this as a vessel is too wasteful?" She casually picked up a piece of living gold, which transformed into a flowing liquid in her palm, emitting a life force that delighted the male ghost.
"I'm sorry, Wang Dong," Electrolux murmured to himself. It was only natural for him to offer himself to her.
You use this to test your cadres? Which cadre can withstand such a test?
"Then we'll sculpt the body according to your current physique." Compared to the still-charming old Deng, Mu Xing still preferred his current youthful physique. "Just do it the way you like." Electrolux gave an elegant bow.
"Then... what about the model of the Scepter of Life? Should it be the one I like?" Mu Xing asked meaningfully, even revealing a malicious smile.
Electrolux didn't want to be ridden by the dragon, but now he seemed to have no right to say "no," and he once again experienced firsthand how awful the cow cat was.
Has the moment arrived when the arrow is on the bowstring and must be released? But why are you laughing, Di Tian? And Golden Dragon King, you dragons are all of the same wicked lineage!
"Can I say 'no'?" Lord Electrox has already begun to resign himself to his fate.
“Of course not.” A deep laugh spread through the sealed space. With a flick of her finger, Mu Xing’s soul transformed into gray currents that wrapped around the Life Gold in her hand like threads.
"Many people believe that life originates from light and from a warm cradle, but they do not know that true vitality lurks in the abyss of death."
A deep purple halo emanated from Mu Xing's other palm, and destructive energy spread out like a thin mist. She pressed her palm close to the merging Life Gold, and creation and destruction, two forces that should have been mutually exclusive, were now merging together to produce a strange pale pink glow.
The two energies intertwined like woven silk, forming a hazy halo at their point of contact. The liquefied gold of life enveloped Electrox's soul, slipping through her fingers like flowing jade. Every drop of liquid that touched the gold of life on the ground melted it into the same liquefied state.
"First, take a handful of embers tempered in despair and oblivion..." Mu Xing elegantly flipped his palm, and the fused energy gradually condensed, transforming into a heart that was interwoven with gold and green, glistening and pulsating.
If Electrolux hadn't been so engrossed in the union with the living, he would have praised Shepherd, saying that her ability to recite such a melodramatic incantation showed she had a real talent for being a mage.
The golden-green heart was enveloped by layers of liquefied life-gold, eventually solidifying into an egg radiating divine light. Mysterious patterns appeared on the surface of the eggshell, appearing and disappearing in the light.
“Now, it has earned the right to ‘exist.’” Mu Xing gazed at the egg, which was taller than a person, and gently traced the patterns on it with his fingertips. “But if you want it to truly ‘live’…”
Before she could finish speaking, a crisp cracking sound suddenly came from the eggshell. A pale, slender hand burst out of the shell and gripped her wrist tightly. The hand was incredibly strong, and its well-defined fingers were wrapped with gaseous life-gold.
Every line of the newborn body was unbelievably perfect, and long, wet, silver-gray hair clung to its pale skin.
"This price..." the reborn Scourge slowly spoke, "I'm quite willing to pay it." He released Mu Xing's wrist and looked at the body that perfectly replicated his prime with a touch of novelty.
His slender fingers traced his silver-gray hair, then slid down his tall, muscular frame. Every inch of his skin exuded a powerful energy, and the golden-green heart within his left chest pounded vigorously. What pleased him most was that this body perfectly preserved all his traits as a necromancer; beneath his pale skin flowed an aura of death, yet the fusion with the gold of life imbued it with an eerie vitality.
"Oh dear, it's a bit lonely without Lord Electrox!" The Golden Dragon King lay listlessly in the aerial garden constructed by the Sea of Spirit, uprooting the sunflowers with his tail.
“Leave the divine core behind, and you can get out.” Mu Xing had clearly been planning this for a long time.
"..." Now the feeling of being kicked out of the house fell on the Golden Dragon King.
Mu Xing squinted, pacing slowly around Electrolux as if examining a newly acquired toy. Suddenly, she reached out and pinched his chin, forcing him to lower his head.
“Let me think…” She traced her fingertips along his newly formed Adam’s apple, her voice laced with obvious malice, “What should I have you do first?”
"Oh no, I'm going to be dragon-rider!" Electrox grabbed her wrist again, the power of his newborn body perfectly restraining her movements.
Just as the stalemate was at hand, a familiar aura of destruction suddenly pierced through the space.
Mu Xing tilted her head slightly, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes. In the entire Douluo Continent, only Wang Dong possessed the same source of destructive divine power as her.
"Never mind." Mu Xing put away his intention to tease Electrolux. "Go and talk to her."
Meanwhile, somewhere within the Heavenly Soul Empire, Wang Dong stood frozen in place, her body surging with uncontrollable destructive divine power. She had clearly sensed the presence of her mother and younger brother just moments before, but that connection of blood lasted only a moment before being completely severed.
She bit her lower lip hard, oblivious to the taste of blood.
"How could this be?" The warmth of that blood connection still lingered in her senses, but in the blink of an eye, it vanished without a trace, as if severed. She should have known that the God of Destruction would turn against her loved ones, but she never expected it to be so swift and so ruthless.
"Mom...brother..." she murmured to herself, having foreseen this ending, yet still clinging to a sliver of hope in deception. The unborn child hadn't even had a chance to see the world.
"You must be very sad."
Wang Dong slowly raised her head, and a purplish-black destructive energy condensed into teardrop shapes at the corners of her eyes. She stared blankly at the suddenly appearing Ilex; he was completely different from the necromancer she remembered. His long, silver-gray hair remained motionless in the storm carrying destructive properties, and his gray eyes appeared particularly eerie in the dim light. Despite exuding an oppressive aura that warned her to stay away, he inexplicably gave her a sense of reality.
“You…” Wang Dong’s voice was hoarse and barely audible, “What are you doing here?” The destructive power around him suddenly surged with the fluctuation of his emotions, but strangely subsided half a meter in front of Electrox.
