Where the wind chimes sound, there is a god

Chapter 18: Mountain Eating King

Chapter 18: Mountain Eating King

"Old senior, are you planning to take action?" Chen Beimo slowly put down the teacup. "Since you know that I practice Qigong, what can you use against me, old senior?"

The madness in the eyes of Taoist Qinghua subsided a lot after hearing this, and he retreated cautiously, "I know that the inner strength of the martial arts cannot match the true energy, but I think your cultivation is still shallow, and you still don't recognize the dangers of the world.

The first step you took into my courtyard, you were poisoned by my inverted cartilage powder. It takes a quarter of an hour for the drug to take effect, penetrating into the pores from the outside to the inside. I have been stalling for time, and it is too late for you, my friend Yuling, to realize this now.

Don't worry, I won't hurt your life. As long as you hand over the secret of cultivating true qi, I will let you go."

Chen Beimo still sat at the table and did not get up. Instead, he smiled and said, "Everything in your courtyard is non-toxic, but if you burn the purple clay Duyun incense in the furnace in the courtyard, mix it with the soul-losing water in this tea and the cartilage mud on the cup in my hand, and add the cattail in this cushion, it can be synthesized into a colorless and odorless soul-bewitching magic drug, paralyzing the tendons and veins of the whole body and making it unable to resist. Then you can control it."

With every word he spoke, Taoist Qinghua's expression became uglier, and by the end his face had lost all color.

"Well, you are indeed a person who practices true qi. You can see through my tricks." Qinghua suddenly drew out his sword and said resolutely: "Now that I have said this, there is no need to say more. The sword will decide life and death!"

"Wait!" Chen Beimo sighed, "The old senior is also a genius of his generation, why do you have to fight to the death like this?

Fame, wealth, and longevity are nothing but a fleeting dream. When you wake up from your drunken stupor, everything is impermanent.

"Ding Dong~"

As soon as he finished speaking, the golden bell in his hand vibrated and a clear ringing sound rang out. When Taoist Qinghua heard the ringing, he felt dizzy and lost, as if he had drunk several jars of wine. He could not tell his hands and feet apart, and he could not see the double shadow three feet in front of his eyes. He stumbled and sat down on the chair!
Chen Beimo was amazed at how powerful this ancient artifact was. It really could make people fall into a state of intoxication and dream.

"Master Qinghua, can I see the internal martial arts you practice?"

"Hehe, easy to say, easy to say!"

After hearing this, Taoist Qinghua stumbled to his feet, walked into the house, opened a secret compartment, and took out a yellowed ancient book with the four big words "Taihua Zhenjing" written on it!

Chen Beimo took it and didn't look at it carefully, and asked again: "Master Qinghua, do you know where there are rare and precious animals in this mountain?"

"Uh... let me think about it. There is a white-browed tiger about ten miles to the southeast. There is a swamp with many crocodile beasts further east. Behind the swamp is a big lake. I am actually a coward. There is something scary in that lake. I dare not go there!"

Taoist Qinghua had blurry eyes and was shaking his head and waving his hands. How could he look like a hermit?

"Is there a feng shui map of the mountains?" Chen Beimo couldn't help but laugh and continued to ask.

"Yes, of course not!" Taoist Qinghua suddenly shouted, "I'm telling you, this is something I stole from the Miao people, it's really precious!
No one else has it, only I have it!"

As he spoke, he pulled out a map from behind a landscape painting in the hall behind him, and proudly showed it to Chen Beimo, explaining: "See, I have figured out the geomancy of this area of three or four hundred miles. If you ask me, the Miao people probably have bad intentions. They sent people to survey the terrain nearby. I'm afraid they are planning something bad for the Western Jin Dynasty..."

Chen Beimo looked at the map carefully and had an idea in mind. He felt that he had gained a lot from this trip. He smiled and shook the golden bell again, saying: "Qinghua, you felt that the Yuling Immortal came into your dream and drank with you. What you saw and heard today was all a dream. There is no geomancy map, and the only copy of the Taihua Sutra was also destroyed by you in your early years.

The tea on this table is used by the Immortal Yuling. Do you remember this?"

"Haha, I'll remember that." Taoist Qinghua's face flushed, and he smiled as he drank the tea as if it were wine.

"Okay, now that you're drunk, go to sleep."

Chen Beimo rang the golden bell again, and Taoist Qinghua fell down upon hearing the sound and fell into a deep sleep.

"This baby is really interesting."

Beichen poked his head out of the bamboo basket, looked at the sleeping old Taoist curiously, then looked at the golden bell and retracted his head.

Chen Beimo took his things, closed the doors and windows, and left.

In a small courtyard deep in the mountains, green smoke from the incense burner slowly floated up and turned into fragrance that spread into the house. A drizzle began to fall in the courtyard, and the dripping sound of rain falling from the thatched roof woke up the sleeping Taoist Qinghua.

He raised his head in confusion, slowly opened his eyes, looked around, and then muttered, "It turned out to be a dream, some Yuling Immortal appeared in my dream..."

He was complaining when he suddenly saw the teacup placed opposite the table and the unfinished herbal tea in it from the corner of his eye.

"What's going on?" Qinghua said in disbelief, "I was just drinking tea and talking with the Yuling Immortal in my dream, how could this tea be so bad?"

Could it be that someone had been here? That was impossible. There were few people in the deep mountains and old forests, and he couldn't have slept so soundly that he didn't even notice someone coming.

Taoist Qinghua was deeply shocked. Could it be that an immortal really came down to earth and had a conversation with him in his dream?
……

In the distant mountains and forests, Chen Beimo walked slowly eastward with a bamboo basket on his back. The further east he went, the hotter and humid the weather became. In addition, it was raining, and the dense rain forest was filled with snakes, insects, and poisonous ants. If one was not careful, one would be bitten and poisoned.

But Chen Beimo didn't care about these things. As soon as Beichen Jun poked his head out of the bamboo basket, the nearby insects and ants fled in all directions. As for the snakes, they waited respectfully in place until he walked a long way away before they came to their senses and had no idea what had just happened.

The rain in the mountains got heavier along the way. In the evening, thunder suddenly sounded in the sky. The spring thunder brought the summer rain. The white rain reflected on the cold mountains, and it looked like silver bamboo.

The ancient scholars were extremely romantic, and even the rain in each season had its own unique name. The heavy rain in summer was called silver bamboo.

The scenery in the mountains is beautiful, but it is hard for the climbers. Even though he is as light as a feather, he is still soaked by the muddy rain.

The heavy rain stopped when it was almost dark. Chen Beimo carried a bamboo basket and walked step by step through the complex and ever-changing grass and mud.

As he walked, Chen Beimo suddenly realized that the surroundings were completely silent; even the sound of insects had disappeared.

An evening breeze blew, and the wild grass as tall as a person looked like rolling green waves, which was very beautiful.

But Chen Beimo felt as if a pair of eyes were staring at him in the dark, and some unknown creature in the dense grass was looking at him through the gaps between the green grass.

Chen Beimo was slightly shocked. Even the top masters didn't give him this kind of oppressive feeling.

He put down the bamboo basket on his back, picked up the bamboo flute at his waist, and blew the shrill flute sound again. The strange music of "thump thump thump" echoed in the grass. All the strange atmosphere disappeared, leaving only the shrill and unpleasant flute sound.

"Hiss~" There was a rustling sound coming from all around. There were the most snakes in such a humid place. With just one move, dozens of snakes rushed into the grass and surrounded Chen Beimo.

I don’t know if it was because of the snake or the unpleasant flute sound, but the thing hiding in the dark finally couldn’t bear it anymore.

"roar~"

A loud roar was heard, the mountains and forests became silent, the snakes bowed their heads, and a strong wind blew down the grass. The shocking roar of the beast made people feel terrified.

The snakes around him could not give Chen Beimo a sense of security. The strong wind made it seem as if countless monsters were walking towards him in the grass. A real sense of oppression gathered from all around to the center.

Suddenly, there was a loud roar of an animal, this time it was extremely clear, it was the roar of a tiger!
Tigers roared in the mountains, all the beasts roared, dragons came from the clouds, tigers came from the wind, the wild grass was split apart, and a huge white-browed tiger with hanging eyes leaped up from behind, with yellow, white and black interlaced patterns on its body and a pair of sharp claws, and a ferocious tiger head, and pounced on the back of Chen Beimo's neck.

He was prepared and instantly drew the soft sword from his waist, flipped sideways, stepped on the ground in the air, and dodged the pounce with his sword as slanting through the air like a snake. His sharp water-splitting sword pierced the tiger's side foot.

Chen Beimo confronted him head-on with a sword in hand. The tiger fell to the ground and turned its head. Its pale yellow eyes locked onto the man with the sword in front of it. It had an intuition that as long as it ate the man in front of it, it would become stronger, conquer more beasts, and eat more blood!
Beichen, who was standing nearby, poked his head out of the bamboo basket that was blown askew by the wind. He spotted the big mountain lion and quickly retracted his head.

But Chen Beimo saw it. He stared at the tiger that was constantly moving around looking for flaws, and called out, "Beichen Jun, don't play dead. Swallow it in one gulp!"

"hiss?"

Beichen Jun, who was only half a meter tall, was stunned when he heard this. Are you talking about me?
Chen Beimo said dissatisfiedly: "Don't you know how to shrink your body? Hurry up and grow big and swallow this tiger. Then you won't be hungry for a month."

"Fizz!"

Beichenjun protested with his tongue sticking out. Just because it could grow bigger, it didn't mean it had an appetite after growing bigger. Such a big thing would probably burst its belly!
"Hurry up!" Chen Beimo said anxiously, "If you don't work hard, I'll make you bleed!"

Upon hearing this, Beichen Jun could only crawl out, raise his head and let out a roar. His snake body kept twisting and expanding at a speed visible to the naked eye. In the blink of an eye, it turned into a black giant python that was ten feet long and thicker than a human body. It raised its head several feet high, and looked down at the mountain king with its snake tongue as thick as a baby's arm.

The giant tiger was obviously frightened by the huge snake. It roared, jumped back half a foot and stared at Beichen Jun.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Chen Beimo rang the golden bell again and chanted, "The great dream of spring and autumn is over, and when the golden bell rings, it is already dead!

Tiger, you are getting old, why don't you surrender quickly!"

The golden bell rang sharply, and the visible ancient yellow sound waves spread towards the giant white-browed tiger. After the bell rang three times, it suddenly felt top-heavy and crawled to the ground, unable to bear the heavy burden.

This tiger is the king of all beasts in the mountains. If Beichen had not transformed into a giant python to shock its mind, he would have had to shake the golden bell several times to break the mountain king's mind.

Taking advantage of the tiger's confusion, Chen Beimo flew over with a sword in hand. The Bi Shui Han sword was as thin as a cicada's wing, but the blade was icy cold. It turned and cut towards the giant tiger's waist, and immediately hot tiger blood spurted out.

Beichen Jun was attracted by the smell of blood and qi, so he quickly shrank and crawled back, put his head into the tiger's waist and greedily sucked the tiger's blood.

Chen Beimo did not stop it when he saw it, and let it drink up the entire tiger's blood. The powerful tiger died in its sleep.

The whole body of a mountain tiger is a treasure, but unfortunately Chen Beimo has limited manpower and it is impossible for him to drag a tiger's corpse away.

So it only cut off the important parts, taking away the tiger's tail, tiger whip, tiger back and tiger skin on the waist, and left the rest to the group of little snakes.

Snakes feed by swallowing and cannot swallow food that is more than three times larger than their mouths.

This is why he did not let the snakes devour the body in the land temple that night. Although he could have cut the body into pieces, staying in the land temple for a moment longer would have increased the risk of being exposed.

But right now, there is only a tiger corpse.

Chen Beimo swung his sword dozens of times, cutting the tiger's corpse into dozens of thin pieces of meat for the snakes to swallow.

Beichen climbed back into the basket with a satisfied look on his face, and swallowed up the tiger's courage and heart.

Chen Beimo always responded to his pet's requests. He knew that Beichen Jun was extraordinary, but it had always lacked some power, that is, courage. Snakes were naturally ruthless, but they were afraid of the fierce things in the sun. Now that it had swallowed the tiger's gall, it could be considered to have made up for its courage.

Chen Beimo carried the bamboo basket on his back and continued to move forward. The snakes here had eaten tiger meat and blood, which were very nutritious. Perhaps they could become the overlord of the beasts in the mountains in the future.

Chen Beimo would not and dared not let go of any person or animal, or any thing, that he intended to kill.

Only the Taoist Qinghua seemed crazy, but he did not have any real murderous intention. He just wanted to force out the secrets of his cultivation, but this involved his master's family teachings, and he could not mention it to anyone.

Moreover, it would be such a waste to kill a first-rate master. It might be more appropriate to keep such a person alive and use him.

As for how to use him, Yuling Immortal is the best cover.

With his superhuman spiritual perception, he discovered the Taoist's plan the moment he entered the courtyard. However, his body had been cleansed and his marrow was no longer susceptible to poison. The Taoist's plan was doomed to fail.

In the mountains, Chen Beimo was walking with a basket on his back through the deep valleys. On this rainy night, he found a small cave to spend the night. He found some dry firewood in the cave, lit a fire with a tinder, then roasted the tiger meat and ate it with the seasoning packets of salt, cumin, chili powder, etc. in the box.

He had long been thinking about the wild game in the mountains, and prepared these seasonings before leaving. Thanks to the migration of northern grassland people to the south and the introduction of food customs from the Western Region Kingdom of Khotan, the people of the Western Jin Dynasty also ate cumin.

The roasted tiger meat, sprinkled with cumin and salt, had a delicious aroma that made people hungry. Chen Beimo ate a delicious barbecue and felt warm all over, which also dispelled the coldness in his body.

The tiger is the yang of the beasts. It is roasted with wood fire and eaten to raise the yang and enter the body, harmonizing the yin energy of water in the body and refining the body. He actually feels stronger after waking up from a nap.

When the sky brightened and the night rain stopped, Chen Beimo opened his eyes and felt that the true energy in his body had recovered a little.

This Tianhe Yuling Kanshui Sutra was quite extraordinary, somewhat beyond his expectations. From the name of the technique, one could tell that it was a water technique, a yin technique. Logically speaking, it was counteracted by the growth of yang energy.

However, this ancient method is about the harmony of yin and yang. Practicing the way of water does not mean abandoning the other five elements in the body and generating yang energy. Instead, it requires the self-promotion of the five elements and the harmony of yin and yang to strengthen the body's physical ability to accommodate the yin position.
