Chapter 12: Kanshui Qi
Chen Beimo woke up with a start, walked out of the wooden barrel, looked at the black water and felt the lightness and elegance on his body, and couldn't help but exclaimed: "Is this the legendary marrow cleansing and meridian clearing?"

Beichenjun crawled to the ground and spit out his tongue, rubbing his smooth instep. At this moment, Chen Beimo found that every part of his skin was white, tender, translucent, and smooth like jade, which was very different from that of ordinary people.

A gust of evening breeze made his body shiver slightly. Then he reacted and went back to the house to put on his inner clothes. Then he poured out the water in the wooden barrel and changed into a cross-collared long gown. The straight collar on the chest showed through the white inner clothes. There was a white neck guard at the collar, and the long hem reached vertically to the lower side of the calf. Wearing this gown, he felt more elegant and light.

He had just changed his clothes and dried his long hair when he heard knocking on the door of the outer hall. Chen Beimo had no choice but to open the door. When he looked up, he saw several pretty women with rouge and powdered faces.

The women were also startled by the person who opened the door. They saw that the young man had a handsome face, long hair that fell down around his waist and flowed naturally. A light-colored long gown made his aura as warm and gentle as green mountains and clear waters.

"What can I do for you ladies?"

Chen Beimo couldn't help but look at the mouth and ask.

"Shopkeeper, I heard that the dancing girl Qiao'er had the Qingluo Yuguang Umbrella made here. Do you still have this umbrella for sale?" asked an older woman.

"I'm afraid I'll disappoint you. That precious umbrella is the legacy of my master, and there is only one in the entire Jincheng. I'm not skilled enough to make such a good umbrella."

After hearing this, the women were all disappointed.

"That little bitch got such an advantage. She shouldn't have been the main dancer."

"Humph, that's right! Mr. Yang had promised to redeem me if I behaved well this time, but he ended up being seduced by that little bitch Qiao'er!"

"This is fate. Alas..." The older woman sighed, "Let's go, let's go back. Qiao'er has been favored by the second son of the Bo's Mansion. I'm afraid she will become a noble in the future. Be careful with your words."

"She's just a dancing girl. It's considered too high a price for her to be a concubine. How can she be a concubine?"

Several women turned around and left with some indignant comments. It was obvious that Qiao'er had attracted countless men with her poetry reading under the Qingluo Yuguang Umbrella.

Chen Beimo had a blank expression on his face. Everyone has his own destiny, but he was not good at commenting on it.

I just took a piece of paper and posted it on the front door, which said, "This store is temporarily closed and will reopen in June."

Shops can only reopen after three months of mourning. This is the rule, the rule of this society.

Chen Beimo sat quietly under the corridor, closed his eyes, and listened quietly to the sound of wind and rain. The breeze was silent, but it turned into many sounds when passing through it.

Listen to the rustling sound of bamboo leaves when the wind blows through, listen to the wind and drizzle falling on the eaves, listen to the crisp and melodious sound of the copper bells hanging on the eaves, listen to the rain chains hanging from the eaves to the altar in the ground, flowing like water.

The rain chain, also known as the Yulinling, is an iron chain with copper bells strung together for drainage on roofs of buildings in ancient times. It diverts water into the altar to prevent water from falling from the eaves and dripping through the ground.

Chen Beimo felt that listening to the wind and watching the rain had never been so refreshing. Perhaps this was the mystery of cleansing the marrow and clearing the meridians.

There is no such thing as sudden progress in spiritual practice, nor can one transform from a mortal into a powerful practitioner overnight.

Cultivation is like moistening things silently. Success will come naturally.

The mortal body can only work its way up slowly, tempering the tendons and veins bit by bit, eliminating poisons, and correcting one's true heart. Only over a long period of time can one gradually adapt to the power of heaven and earth.

Chen Beimo took out the exercises and studied them carefully, and also tried to figure out some medical techniques and pharmacology, pondering over them slowly.

Before he knew it, he had been reading until midnight. The sparks from the oil lamp in the lampshade woke him up. He looked up and saw that the moon was already at its zenith.

"It's already midnight. Time flies."

Chen Beimo stood up and stretched himself. It is beneficial for people who sit for a long time to stretch their muscles and bones.

When he stood up, he realized that he had not eaten dinner, but he was not very hungry.

"How is this going?"

Chen Beimo rubbed his stomach. He had only eaten breakfast today and had only drunk some tea from noon until now. He was not hungry at all!

"Could it be that he is so hungry that he loses consciousness?"

He stood up and was about to go to the kitchen to find some food, but when he went out and saw Beichen Jun breathing out stars in the yard, he was suddenly startled, and then an incredible idea arose in his mind.

"Am I fasting?"

Legend has it that ascetics do not eat worldly food, but only drink mountain dew or eat green leaves to satisfy their hunger and survive.

But this can only be achieved after reaching a certain level of cultivation, and it is obvious that Chen Beimo should not be at this level now.

After he figured it out, he calmed down. Excessive joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness would harm one's nature and body. Since one must cultivate the mind as well as the Tao, after calming down, Chen Beimo went back to the attic and fell asleep peacefully. He slept very soundly that night.

……

On March 16th, the sky was rare to clear up.

Chen Beimo got up early in the morning and left the city, following the heavy traffic.

From time to time, there were three or two people walking on the official road outside the city, or carriages and horses driving to various places in the dust.

Chen Beimo walked towards the river with a shoulder bag on his back. He found a very remote section of the river and came to the bank of the wide Yingshui River.

Chen Beimo also took a ferry and came to the north bank, a sparsely populated area.

He parted the dense aquatic plants on the shore, then with a wave of his sleeve a small snake fell down, and in the blink of an eye it turned into a half-meter-long black snake. It was obviously Beichen Jun.

When it arrived in the wild, it gradually became more active and crawled around everywhere.

Chen Beimo sat on the ground, took out a gourd of wine, then calmed himself down, and drank half a pot of apricot blossom wine in one gulp.

Even though it was a low-alcohol liquor, it made Chen Beimo's cheeks slightly red and his mind a little confused.

This was exactly the state Chen Beimo wanted. He sat cross-legged quietly, the wine in his stomach gradually taking effect. His consciousness was slightly distracted, but he had more and more real fantasies.

Chen Beimo controlled his mind and silently recited the formula he had memorized countless times. He visualized the surging river in his mind, and at the same time, the water in the well spontaneously appeared in his mind.

Rivers and streams connect to deep wells. The earth and soil are trapped in the water. The water is yin and the water is yang. Chen Beimo uses himself as the medium between heaven and earth, receiving the waves of the Yang River and the ancient silence of the Yin Well. Chen Beimo uses his hands to seduce the vitality of water according to different spells. Every breath he takes is a transformation of yin and yang. He seems to feel the endless yang energy flowing into his lungs, flowing through his limbs and bones, and his whole body is hot as if drunk.

The Yang energy turned into water and rushed into his body, it was so domineering and fierce that he frowned in pain, but Chen Beimo still controlled his mind and attracted the Yin water that he had cultivated for more than ten days to turn it into a snake, and then used his mind to force the Yang to enter his lungs and sink into his Dantian.

During this process, his whole body was tense and sweating profusely, but he could not give up after practicing for so long.

Chen Beimo endured the severe pain in his meridians, gritted his teeth, and concentrated on controlling the yin and yang energies in his body to gather in his dantian.

An unknown amount of time had passed, the stars in the sky appeared and disappeared, the Big Dipper flashed, and finally, all the orifices in Chen Beimo's body made a slight sound, the yin and yang in his dantian separated, and the tortoise and snake became one.

In his mind's visualization, the big river and the ancient well transformed into a very blurry statue of Xuanwu!

The yin and yang in the body work together to transform Li and Kan, and the two energies merge into one, becoming a clearly controllable Kan water true qi!

Chen Beimo couldn't hold back his joy and opened his eyes. In the night, drizzles of rain fell on the weeds and green leaves, creating drops of dew. In the light mist by the river, fish were swimming. The sound of wind came from afar, and a spotted fox in the bushes was staring at him motionlessly.

"Why do I feel like the wind and rain have slowed down a bit?"

He stretched out his hand but found that he almost hit himself in the face, and his body seemed a little unfamiliar.

In the darkness of night, Beichen, who was guarding nearby, stared blankly at his master. In his eyes, his master was shrouded in a light blue mist and could not be seen clearly.

Chen Beimo stared at his palm in disbelief, then slowly squatted down and put his hand into the slowly flowing river. Under the dim moonlight, as his palm moved, the river water formed a whirlpool half a meter in size on the shimmering surface of the lake.

When he withdrew his hand, the small vortex dissipated.

Even though Chen Beimo was trying to suppress his anger, he finally couldn't help but burst into laughter at this moment. He had cultivated the Kanshui Qi, and now that the Qi was complete, he had transcended the mundane world!
In the wind and rain, Chen Beimo ignored his wet clothes, and clenched his fists, stepped in all directions, and performed a set of smooth boxing techniques with his fists and palms.

This set of boxing skills was taught to his senior brother by the master. Since he was young at that time, there was no need to avoid him, so Chen Beimo also memorized this very simple set of Hua Rou boxing.

Fists and palms connected, transforming from hardness to softness, emphasizing flowing like water, using the opponent's force to counter attack. This is a very superficial boxing method, but when he performed it today, it was like running water creating waves, long and continuous movement, and every punch and palm looked extremely charming.

After practicing this boxing technique, Chen Beimo gradually adapted to the changes in his body. In his eyes, everything seemed to have slowed down by three points. In fact, his eyesight and agility had increased by three points, and his reaction was faster than that of ordinary people, so he felt that he was a little slow in seeing things.

He stood by the river excitedly for a long time, letting the raindrops fall on his body, but he did not feel cold, but rather a warm feeling. This was probably because Kan water was the essence of all water in the world, and he naturally was not afraid of the Yin Qi in the rootless water because he had the true energy of Kan water.

It is just like this: Only the essence and the life root nourish, Kan and Li copulate to cultivate longevity. If you can get the mysterious light of the spiritual platform, you will become an immortal and get the joy of the real person!

He didn't calm down until he felt hungry. He smiled and said, "Beichen Jun, let's go back."

After hearing this, the black snake jumped up and turned into a tiny black snake and crawled into Chen Beimo's sleeve. Then he stood up, took the gourd, carried the package on his back and rushed into the city.

Although it was raining and the ground was muddy, Chen Beimo still walked very fast. His physical strength was now like that of a master who had practiced Qinggong. Just looking at the small house on the side of the road, he felt that he could jump onto the roof.

He left the city before the sun rose in the morning, and after just a short while of practicing, an entire day had passed. Time passed so quickly.

When I saw a few people walking back on the official road, I suddenly remembered that the city gates were closed at this time.

I'm afraid I'll have to sleep outside the city today!
Fortunately, he saw several passers-by walking towards a wild temple, so he followed them in. There must be resting places built by people within a radius of ten miles from the city gate, and most of these places are abandoned temples and old houses.

Chen Beimo followed a few people in and found that it was a dilapidated temple. Only half of the statue on the altar was left. It was impossible to tell whether it was a Taoist or Buddhist god.

The space in the house was not small, but there were already more than a dozen people squatting, lying or sitting inside, and there were several leaks in the house, so there was little space left.

As soon as Chen Beimo stepped into the room, he felt many eyes on him, but no one said anything, so he found a place against the wall and sat down.

There aren't any foxes, monsters, or ghosts happening here so close to the city gate. People's anger might scare the ghosts away.

Instead, it is these same kind that we need to be on guard against. There are a few beggars here, five or six businessmen gathered together, a mother and daughter in tattered clothes, and the three men who just walked in.

The only ones left were two young men and a young girl with extraordinary bearing, dressed in black and gray clothes, with scabbards on their waists. They were obviously martial artists.

Chen Beimo sat in a dark corner, shook off the water on his body, opened the package and took out the steamed corn bread he had prepared in advance. Although it was a bit dry, it was not bad when he ate it with the remaining half pot of wine.

Some people in the temple were discussing business, some were whispering, and there were no bullies. There was a pile of firewood in front of the altar, and several businessmen sat around it to keep warm and dry their wet clothes.

The little girl in the mother and daughter pair secretly looked at the steamed bread in Chen Beimo's hand with her black eyes, and it was obvious that the little girl was hungry.

Chen Beimo ignored it and just pretended not to see it and continued eating. It was not that he was cruel, but there was something about this mother and daughter that made Beichen Jun in his sleeve feel disgusted. He chose to believe in his pet and did not want to have any contact with this mother and daughter.

There are countless ways in the world to harm others. Even though he is a little extraordinary now, he will not be proud.

He can eat as if nothing happened, but there will always be people who can't stand it.

When the little girl with a dark face whispered in a childish voice: "Mom, I'm hungry!"

"Be good, Ying'er, don't cry. You won't be hungry when you fall asleep." The woman spoke in a tearful voice, which made people feel pity and misery.

Chen Beimo frowned secretly. Did the mother and daughter seem to be acting? His concubine Shen was the shopkeeper of Zuiyue Tower. When she was young, she was also a famous courtesan in Jincheng. He knew a lot about these things.

If they were just an ordinary mother and daughter in such an environment, why would they deliberately attract attention? They were probably trying to be as low-key as possible, fearing that they would encounter bad people with bad intentions.

Even though this place is less than ten miles from the city gate, it is still in the wild after all. People may not dare to kill people, but there are many scammers. In a place where good and bad people mix, it is naturally better to be careful.

Chen Beimo thought about it and decided that it was better to have less trouble than more. He would rather find a small shed to spend the night than cause trouble in a place like this.

But things don’t always go as planned. Just as he stood up and prepared to go outside, the little girl’s weak voice rang out: “Big brother, I’m so hungry. Can you give me a bite of steamed bread? We haven’t eaten for several days!”

As soon as these words were spoken, most of the people in the room turned their eyes to Chen Beimo.

He paused, turned around, and threw two steamed buns in front of the mother and daughter, but he missed the target and they fell on the ground in front of them, with some dust on the white buns.

"Little brother, aren't you looking down on people? At least deliver it to them. Are you treating a beggar like this?" The young man with a sword on his waist said dissatisfiedly.

As soon as he said this, the four beggars behind the altar turned their heads and looked at him. A beggar with a scoundrel look said in dissatisfaction: "What's wrong with you, beggar? Did you ask for food?"
