Chapter 49 Curse
Chapter 49 Curse
"Clap."
The sound of something falling to the ground was heard in the merchant ship's room.
The maid Ani looked up alertly and saw Viserys bending over to pick up a dragon bone ornament. She could only see Viserys' back and could not tell anything unusual, so she just pretended nothing had happened and continued with her sewing work.
Dany craned her neck from the desk and asked expectantly, "Brother, can you test me now?" She thought Viserys had discovered another magical dragon bone and was eager to try.
"No hurry." Viserys' tone was no different from usual. He didn't even turn his head. "Read your book carefully. I will test you later."
"Oh." Dany sat back disappointed and continued reading her book.
Viserys' expression was not as calm as his tone. His face was as dark as water and he looked at his right hand in shock.
On his right hand, the thumb, index finger, most of the middle finger, and part of the palm, the keratinized skin and dragon scales constructed with magic grew in response to stress, surrounding a strange blue-purple ripple between his palms.
That strange thing was fighting fiercely against the magic power emitted by his dragon scales, corroding each other.
"What the hell is this?"
Viserys simply touched the sapphire, and the strange blue-purple ripples seemed to come alive, emerging from the strange ripples of the sapphire and seeming to penetrate into Viserys' body.
The heat of magic stimulated by the stress instinct surged, and just a moment ago, Viserys's hands were almost burned as if they were forged in dragon flames.
The blue gem in his hand seemed to be shattered from the inside by the stressful explosion of magic power, and the internal texture of the sapphire became shattered in an instant.
In fact, after picking it up, Viserys used a little force and the sapphire was crushed into pieces.
"Fuck." Viserys cursed in his heart as all the complicated emotions in his heart turned into this curse. "What the hell is this?"
Viserys changed his mind and thought that Grole probably didn't want to harm him. These dragon bone gems should have come from the pirates he encountered last night.
This thing is not poison, but some kind of magical power.
Is it the black magician among the pirates who wants to harm the merchant ships?
Or is there some secret conspiracy against Viserys?
The only thing to be thankful for is that this strange magical power does not seem to be a match for the magic of the ancient chestnut king Oak from another world in Viserys's body. It seems that the two forces are now in a stalemate in the confrontation, but such mutual consumption means that this thing will sooner or later be wiped out by Viserys' magic.
It's just a little too slow.
Viserys thought for a moment, then hid his right hand into his sleeve, swept the broken sapphire dragon bone ornaments into the box, casually stuffed the dragon bone box into his arms, then stood up and walked towards the private bathroom in the suite.
After entering the bathroom, he put the box aside.
Viserys pulled out the dagger hidden on his body, held the knife in his left hand, and cut at the knuckles covered with strange blue and purple ripples.
The pain came, and scarlet blood instantly flowed out of the tiger's mouth, but the strange blue-purple ripple magic power seemed to have not diminished at all.
Viserys calmed down, mobilized the magic power collected in his liver, transferred a large amount of magic power to his right hand, and then began to try to use magic to construct his right hand into a dragon claw.
Black, hard keratin skin covered Viserys's right hand. Densely interwoven black scales gradually covered the keratin skin. Sharp claws emitting sharp cold light gradually replaced human fingers. The gnarled and powerful dragon arm completely changed the appearance of Viserys' hand.
His right hand, from the forearm downwards, was completely transformed into a dragon.
The strange flame patterns on the dragon claws are the veins through which magic power flows. They continuously receive magic power stored in the liver, forming a circulation.
However, under the keratinized skin of the dragon claw, strange blue-purple ripples could still be seen faintly under the black scales. It was completely surrounded by huge magical power, but it still resisted stubbornly.
Viserys soon discovered that the strange magical force was like a turtle formation. No matter how much magic power he used, only a small amount could confront it head-on. His actions were like sending hundreds of men to beat up a few people. Only those closest to it could actually hit the people, and the rest of the men could only watch the show from the outside.
Transforming his right hand into a dragon would not help him quickly get rid of this weird thing.
Viserys could only retract his magic power into his liver and restore his hand to the previous state of stalemate between the two forces. The defense instinctively made by the magic power in his body was actually the most scientific.
Viserys was feeling a little frustrated. He looked at the wound on his palm that had stopped bleeding, and suddenly an idea came to him. He tried to spray tiny dragon flames from his mouth to burn the strange magical ripples.
Okay, that's a stupid idea.
Breathing fire to burn not only burns out the magic power that has just been stored - the magic power instinctively judges that the high temperature of the flame is beyond its tolerance, causing black keratin skin to grow again in the area between the knuckles, but is useless in removing the strange magic power that has invaded the palm.
Viserys had no choice but to accept that he might have to live with this strange thing for a while until it was completely eroded by Viserys' magic.
Coming out of the toilet, Viserys went straight to the bed, picked up the leather gloves and put them on his hands.
His right hand would have to remain hidden for a while.
However, this also reminded Viserys. He put the dragon bone box at the bottom of the bedside box in the room, and decided that it would be better to avoid touching such dragon bones of unknown origin in the future.
"Brother, you want to go out?"
Daenerys, who had been looking forward to Viserys' box of new dragon bones, saw that her brother didn't give her any hints, so she knew that it was probably just magic power, and she couldn't help feeling a little disappointed.
Hearing Dany's question, Viserys casually told her, "Well. I have something to ask the captain." Viserys quickly found Grolet. At this time, Jorah had already started working, wearing chain mail and accompanying Viserys.
"Captain Grolet," Viserys said bluntly, "I can't help my curiosity. I've been wondering since I got home yesterday what the pirates we encountered last night were like. Can you tell me more about them?"
"Uh, sir. This..." Grolai was embarrassed. "To be honest with you, sir, what they did yesterday was that they didn't intend to let us know where they came from."
Viserys pressed on. "You are well-informed. Don't you have any guesses?"
"My lord, there were no pirates in the Myr Sea in the past." Grolai said helplessly, "Myr and Tyrosh are only three or four days away. On one side is Myr and on the other is Tyrosh. With fleets from two major city-states here, which pirate would dare to come here?"
"Are you saying that the pirates here now have the shadow of two city-state fleets? Who do you think it was last night?"
"My lord, I didn't say that." Grolai denied it flatly.
"What are you afraid of? We are the only ones here."
"It's not that I'm afraid, sir." Grolai explained to him, "The Stepstones are the pirates' lair. Everyone in the Free Trade Cities knows this. It's not a secret. But because there are so many pirates, it's hard to say who they are. Is there someone who is brave enough to come here on their own, or is there someone backed by a city-state?"
"You can probably tell me which pirates are famous around here, right?"
"I don't know. I'm in business. Maybe the sellswords know more than I do. They'll look at the bounty lists of various places. Ser Jorah?"
Qiao La snorted and ignored him.
"Someone very famous?" Viserys asked.
Grolai could not argue, so he had to say: "Salador Saan is one of them. He is a Lys pirate who has been rampant for many years and calls himself the Prince of the Narrow Sea. You know, even I have heard of this name." Grolai went on to mention several well-known pirates, ". I don't know about the others. My lord, I am a captain of a merchant ship, and it is enough for me to know these. Anyway, no matter who comes, we will solve it peacefully if we can. I would rather not know who they are, so as not to leak the news and be remembered by someone."
"You said you often ran to the Summer Sea. I suddenly remembered someone," Viserys asked. "Have you ever heard of Euron the Crow's Eye?"
"Cough cough cough, who who?" Grolai almost choked.
"Are you so frightened?" Viserys asked, not expecting such a strong reaction.
"Sir, have you heard of the 'Silence'?" Grolai asked in a low voice.
Jorah suddenly muttered to himself, "It turns out that the 'Silence' is the ship of 'Crow's Eye' Euron."
Viserys and Groly looked at Jorah, and he closed his mouth again.
Viserys couldn't bear to watch Jorah's poor performance when he was trying to get information. However, Jorah's reaction made Viserys and Glory feel that they seemed to have said too much information, but they were thick-skinned and didn't show it.
"Legend has it that he knows black magic, is that true?" The original self had no interest in paying attention to things happening at sea. It was when Viserys seemed to have encountered black magic that he suddenly remembered that there was such a person in the original book.
"My lord, I don't think we should discuss such a horrific topic. I can only tell you that black sails and dark red ships are the epitome of terror on the sea." Grolai said mysteriously, as if he didn't want to talk about it any more.
There was no point in asking this, so Viserys simply said, "Are the sailors who went to trade with the pirates last night still here? I'm curious. Ask them to come over. I want to talk to them."
"Okay." Grolai stood up respectfully and walked out of the captain's room.
Soon, several slightly confused and drunken sailors were taken out of the captain's room by Grole.
Viserys took a quick look and knew, without even asking, who had come into contact with the strange dragon bone yesterday.
Viserys could easily see that among them, there were two people with faint blue and purple ripples on their faces, and from the looks of it, it seemed that only Viserys could vaguely see this thing.
Several sailors went there yesterday, but only two of them suffered similar things as Viserys. At least this shows that this thing doesn't seem to be contagious or spread.
This is good news.
After a few hasty questions, their answers were pretty much what Viserys had expected after their conversation with Grole. They were still hungover, and couldn't even say which pirates they had run into the day before, except that they had spent a lot of money on something that wasn't worth that much.
Viserys asked finally, "When will you return to the Jaunty Yoso?"
The leader replied, "Sir, we won't stop here. We won't return until we reach Tyrosh."
"I see." Viserys nodded randomly. "It's all right. Go back to your work."
After watching the sailors leave, Viserys seemed to have lost interest and asked Jorah to go back to the room.
There was no expression on his face, but Viserys was muttering in his heart, as if he knew what was going on in this situation.
He had read similar stories in Illyrio's book of stories that seemed to be sermons from the Red God.
He might have been cursed.
