Chapter 47: The Manderlay Sisters

Jon walked around the corner of the garden with his head held high, and immediately saw a tall young woman in a white dress with long brown hair braided into many braids. She was pointing at Bai Ling, who was looking out of the window of the guest room where Jon was staying with half of his head sticking out.

The waiter who was asked by Jon to watch the door saw Jon, and his nervous and pale face finally relaxed. He looked like he was about to cry: "Guest, you are finally back."

"Oh," the young woman turned around. She had an oval face, big gray eyes, a high nose bridge, and a natural and generous look of a northerner. After a brief moment of embarrassment, she immediately covered it up and said, "Hello, guest. Is that a direwolf?"

"Yes." Compared to the other party's generous attitude, Jon seemed a little shy and embarrassed, "Its name is Bai Ling."

"Wow, a direwolf, so majestic!" The woman's bell-like laughter rang out again, "Oh, excuse me, hello, guest. I am Wilfrid Manderly."

Mandalay.
"Hello, I'm Jon." Jon paused, "Jon Snow."

"Hello, Jon." Wilfred still had a smile on her face. She turned around and greeted, "Little sister."

Jon then noticed the petite girl next to Wilfred.

The girl greeted Jon, "I'm Anna Manderly. Hello, Jon." She was a little shy, her rosy, round face was slightly red, she was wearing a light-colored dress with lace, and her light yellow hair was neatly combed. After introducing herself, she asked, "Can my sister Wilfred and I take a closer look at your direwolf?"

Jon was a little nervous for a moment. He believed that with Bai Ling around, he would not hurt anyone. However, the nervous expression on the waiter's face just now showed that other people's views on this might be very different from Jon's.

He didn't know how to answer.

Wilfred then said, "Jon, you won't let him hurt anyone, right?"

Jon heard her calling Ghost 'he', just as Arya called Nymeria 'she'.

"Yes," Jon said. "Ghost listens to me. He won't move unless I tell him to."

Jon walked past Wilfred and Anna. He nodded slightly to them. He found that Wilfred was almost as tall as him. Jon didn't dare to look closely, and then walked straight to the waiter. He pushed open the door, bent over and called, "Ghost, come here, come here, be good."

Ghost sauntered over in response and rubbed his nose against Jon's cheek affectionately, but remained wary of strangers.

When Wilfred and Anna approached it, it immediately pulled back and hunched its body in alertness.

The sisters paused.

"Ghost, sit down," Jon ordered. "That's it. Sit still." He looked up at Wilfred and Anna. "You can touch him now. I told you, he listens to me."

"Wow." Wilfyde and Anna walked forward cautiously and reached out to scratch Bai Ling's snow-white hair.

Jon heard Anna muttering softly, "Diewolf, direwolf, majestic and beautiful." He couldn't help but smile.

The two Manderly sisters reluctantly withdrew their hands from Ghost. Jon saw Wilfred was about to say something, but her words were interrupted by a sudden shrill voice from the garden.

"Wow! You didn't even call me!"

Look in the direction of the sound.

A girl was running quickly around the corner of the garden.

The girl should be about the same age as Anna. She was wearing flamboyant and colorful clothes. Her hair was dyed bright green and tied into very long braids. Her eyebrows were dyed gold and her lips were painted bright red. Her dress was bright, weird and exaggerated.

As she got closer, without saying hello to anyone, she stared at Bai Ling and screamed, "It's really a direwolf!" and was about to move forward to touch it.

Bai Ling raised her ears alertly and bared her teeth at her.

But she didn't flinch and still came forward and stretched out her hand, so Jon had to reach out to comfort Bai Ling.

The girl kept touching Bai Ling.

Bai Ling let out a silent roar from her throat in dissatisfaction.

"Young lady." Jon couldn't help but stop her.

Wilfred pulled the girl away: "Don't act silly in front of the guests, Vera."

The girl didn't take it seriously and said, "Wow, sister, I must ask grandpa to marry me to Master Robb. I heard that he also has a direwolf, and his wolf must be more majestic. He should not be engaged yet. Hmm."

Wilfred put her hand over the girl's mouth, smiled apologetically at Jon, and then pulled her away.

Anna then whispered to Jon, "Don't mind it, Jon. Willa has been spoiled by her uncle and aunt. No one in the castle can control her except her grandfather."

"It's okay." Jon said, and he asked subconsciously, "Who are Miss Willa and Miss Wilfrid?"

"Sisters Vera and Wilfred are the daughters of our uncle Sir Willis Manderly," said Anna.

Ser Wylis Manderly is the eldest son and heir of Lord Wyman Manderly of White Harbor. No wonder Willa said she wanted to marry Robb.

Jon tried to imagine the girl next to Robb, but his mind was filled with Wilfred.
He asked politely, "Who are you, Miss Anna?" Anna told him generously, "I am my grandfather's great-granddaughter. My father is Will Manderly. People call him 'The Sail of the Manderly Family.'" She suddenly felt shy, "Grandfather said that you came to White Harbor to see the sea, right, Jon?"

Jon answered her automatically, "Yes."

Anna said to him: "The sea you see in White Harbor is too small. My father can take you to Cape Wang in Old Town on a merchant ship. From there you can see the entire Bite Bay. The sea there is as big as the whole world, and sometimes you can even see whales so big that you can't believe it."

"Really?" Jon asked subconsciously.

"Yes." Anna asked him expectantly, "Do you want to go and see it, Jon?"

"I have seen the sea," Jon answered. "My uncle Benjen and I went to the harbor when we arrived last night. I have seen the sea."

"Oh," Anna's tone became lonely, "Really?"

"Yes," Jon said.

“That’s a shame,” Anna said. She looked at Ghost. “Can I touch him again?”

Jon asked Ghost to sit closer.

Anna reached out and stroked the fine, snow-white fur between Ghost's ears. Jon heard her humming an unknown tune: "Diewolf, direwolf, majestic and beautiful."

Jon felt like he should say something.

But he said nothing in the end.

-

Jon finds Uncle Benjen near the stables, having just returned from prison in the castle.

When Benjen saw Jon waiting for him here, he couldn't help but sigh in his heart.

Jon asked Uncle Benjen, "How long will we stay in White Harbor? When will we set out for the Wall?"

"Why, don't you want to go see the sea again?" Ban Yang got off the horse and handed the horse to the stable boy. "The harbor was pitch black last night. The weather has been just right these two days."

"No, Uncle Benjen," Jon said. "I have done what I could and wanted to do. Now it is time to pursue my honor."

"Ah Jon" Benjen felt so uncomfortable. He called Jon's name but couldn't say anything for a while.

"Uncle Benjen," Jon called to his uncle. "I am Jon Snow. A bastard. I made a promise to my father before the heart tree at Winterfell that I would wear black. My honor and my destiny are not anywhere else but at the Wall. Only at the Wall. I am Jon Snow."

Jon Snow, Jon Snow, Jon Snow.

Jon Snow.

Benjen heard his words and couldn't help but sigh at how unfair fate was: "You and your father have the same temper, Jon. Sometimes I really wish."

Jon took his uncle's hand.

Ben Yang didn't say anything else.

The uncle and nephew stared at each other for a long while. Ben Yang knew that there was nothing he could do, so he said, "Then let's set out tomorrow. I will go and tell the Earl to thank him for his generosity and hospitality."

The next morning, Jon and Uncle Benjen bid farewell to Lord Wyman and set off.

Earl Wyman was still kind and enthusiastic. Considering that they brought a few more people with them this time, the earl generously arranged a boat for them to go north along the White Blade River.

This way they could reach Winterfell faster.

There will be heavy snow in the north in late summer, and they have to reach the Great Wall before the snow falls.

Vera Manderly, now fourteen years old, is the second daughter of Lord Eel's eldest son Willis.

Anna Manderly, now fourteen years old, is an original character. She is the daughter of Lord Eel who has no noble inheritance rights and is not a knight's nephew. Her father, Will Manderly, is the manager of the Manderly family's merchant ships in charge of trading.

If this identity and Jon can be successful, it will be a good story in the North. Without considering Jon's hidden background, they are considered to be a perfect match.

It's a pity that Master Eel and Benjen didn't know in advance that Jon's XP was an older, proactive, and caring big sister, such as Ygritte.

Jon's story will end here. The impact of Viserys flapping his wings cannot change the predetermined fate of the last descendants of Targaryen far away in the North.
