Chapter 332: Merit Light

Chapter 332: Merit Light

"What kind of civilization is that that makes the ancestor feel that he can perfect the Dao fruit and benefit all living things?"

Chu Tai was somewhat confused. In his understanding, Shinto civilization was the system most likely to become solidified. Why was Taiyi Zhenjun attracted to it? To this, the Taoist just chuckled.

"Heaven and man are in harmony, gods and humans work together. In the past, when immortals appeared and transformed into the heavens, humans were the original gods, and gods were the ultimate humans. By the way, the humans here are not the human race, but sentient beings of the acquired human way."

"The Ultimate Person?"

Chu Tai repeated in a low voice, vaguely feeling a little trace, and whispered: "Can a scholar be a god?"

The Taoist nodded, and Chu Tai continued to ask: "Can one become a god if he has outstanding virtues?"

The Taoist continued to nod, and Chu Tai asked again: "Then can someone who has committed serious sins become a god?"

The Taoist still nodded. He looked at Chu Tai who was a little surprised and pointed out a key point.

"Don't be surprised. The way of the immortals is the way of the heavens. To put it simply, it is the way of the five virtues, the way of all living beings, and the way of sentient beings."

Chu Tai became more and more confused as he listened, and couldn't help asking, "Are these three related?"

"Of course there is. Let's take the easiest way to understand, the way of merit. What do you think merit is?"

The Taoist seemed to be guiding something intentionally. Chu Tai, who noticed this, thought for a long time but did not answer.

The Taoist priest, who hadn't received a response for a long time, seemed a little disappointed and began to explain: "According to the records of Xianxian Daohua Datian, merits are divided into three categories. The lowest is the merit of benevolence and good deeds. That is, benevolence is merit, and good deeds are virtue. Any sentient being only needs to have good thoughts and do good deeds to be considered this merit. However, because merits require very little kindness, even if a person has a little compassion in the process of doing good deeds with a utilitarian mind, it can be considered merit, so it is the last of the three merits."

"Therefore, the magical effect of this kind of merit is very weak. A little accumulation is useless for cultivators. But if someone is kind-hearted and practices good deeds for decades, the merit gained is no worse than the merit of the middle level. It can protect the lives of great gods like us, and can serve as the foundation for becoming a god for immortals."

Having said this, the Taoist paused, stretched out his hand, and a point of meritorious light appeared on his fingertips.

"The so-called middle-level merit is also called the merit of self-cultivation and preaching. That is, self-cultivation is merit, and preaching is virtue. This kind of merit is what we immortal cultivators call good virtue and good deeds in our daily lives. Some people also call it human merit, preaching merit, and saving people merit. Tracing back to its essence, it is the feedback given to us by the immortal way, the human way, and even the destiny of some major sects. There may be some human Yuan Miao Qi mixed in it, but the essence is not much different."

"The little bit of merit and glory in my hand is a typical middle-level merit."

After saying this, the Taoist did not speak for a long time. Chu Tai saw what the Taoist meant and asked, "What about the superior merits?" "The so-called superior merits are naturally the merits of enlightening the mind and seeing the nature, that is, enlightening the mind is merit, and seeing the nature is virtue. The simplest understanding is to increase one's own perception on the basis of the middle merits, so that one's own Tao fruit and Dharma meaning are combined with merits, forming merits that belong to oneself. Only this kind of merit can be called superior merits."

"In this regard, Buddhism and Taoism have conducted more in-depth research. They have conducted in-depth research on the so-called Buddha Light of Great Merit, Sandalwood Buddha Light, Prajna Buddha Light, and of course, the Buddha Light of Great Freedom that the Buddhists use to convert the non-Buddhists."

At this point, the Taoist seemed to think of something interesting, and whispered, "The great and free Buddha light of the external path is recorded in the "Future Star Tribulation Heaven External Path Sutra". It was originally a secret method prepared by the Buddhist sect to attract side sects, demons, and even immortals. If you want to achieve great success, you must understand the Buddha nature and eventually become a member of the Buddhist path."

"But more than two thousand years ago, Haha Patriarch obtained a volume of 'Commentary on the Future Stars and Constellations' Sutra on the Outer Dao, and used the Nuo Mask method to cultivate the Outer Dao's Great Freedom Buddha Light, and then alienated it to create his own twenty Nuo Masks of the Gods, stealing the fate of this lineage and destroying most of this lineage's inheritance. It is said that later Haha Patriarch also used this Nuo Mask to infiltrate Buddhism and Taoism, and secretly learned 'The Sutra of the Past Thousand Buddhas Saving Infinite Living Beings', but I don't know if it is true."

Chu Tai, who suddenly heard about the past experience of Haha Patriarch, silently memorized this information, and then asked: "How are the merits of heaven and earth calculated, and what is the connection between the calculation of merits and the sinful people becoming gods? It is impossible that the sinful people will realize that their original nature is evil, and regard the realization of evil as merit, and the practice of evil deeds as virtue."

"In the world of immortals, there is no clear merit of heaven and earth, only heavenly merit, which is to conform to the laws of the universe and get positive feedback from heaven and earth. In that world, as long as you get heavenly merit, you can be considered to have opened the way to becoming a god. At the very least, you can become a god naturally after death. As for the evil people becoming gods, it is just as you said."

The Taoist gave a rather shocking explanation in the face of Chu Tai's surprised gaze.

"Just as there are demons in the great heavens, there are naturally evil gods and fierce gods in the great heavens of immortals. Except for a very small number of gods that have existed since ancient times, most of these gods are obtained by evil people. It's just that it's a little more difficult for evil people to become gods than for ordinary people. First, the evil deeds they have done will naturally backfire when they become gods. How much evil deeds have they committed to build their own throne? They must empathize with all the experiences and emotions of the victims, understand the origin of their own authority, and know how powerful it is."

"During this period, the wicked must stick to themselves and stick to their nature, otherwise the throne will be torn apart by those who hurt them. Secondly, we must prevent external disasters and resist external enemies. Thirdly..."

Chu Tai looked at the Taoist in front of him who was talking more and more excitedly, and a trace of doubt emerged in his eyes. It seemed that the other party knew too much about the information about the immortals showing their Taoism and transforming the world, and the method of merit and virtue he talked about contained too many specific ways of practice.

Now, the Taoist gave Chu Tai a feeling.

Rather than answering questions, it would be more accurate to say that he is preaching.

When this thought came to Chu Tai's mind, he was startled. He immediately reflected on himself, and his mind fell on the Donghuang Bell. He silently observed himself, and was very surprised to find that a faint golden wheel of merit appeared behind his head under the Donghuang Bell.

What’s even more amazing is that the [Heart Glory], which had just transformed once before, has now completed a new transformation, from the original [Seventh Grade·Heart Glory] to [Sixth Grade·Ganlin].

What's even more amazing is that in the fruit fragment of [Ganlin], Chu Tai saw a large number of rituals for dispelling illness, eliminating bad luck, nourishing the local water and soil, and transcending and refining the souls of the dead. It can be said to be a very comprehensive collection of faith and a wonderful method of accumulating merit.

And these changes also indirectly confirmed that the Taoist in front of him was preaching and implanting foreign influences into Chu Tai's body by solving doubts.
