The Secret Code of Monsters.

Chapter 273 Ch272 Follow-up

Chapter 273 Ch.272 Subsequent Processing
"I thought you wouldn't come in person."

There is an extra chair in the room.

A muscular man who thought he was very handsome moved in (he said the chair was his, but he didn't want to sit on it now and said he wanted to give it to someone 'in need').

Enid smoothed her skirt and sat down beside Roland's bed.

He glanced at the thick sheets piled on his lower abdomen.

"Perhaps tens of thousands of people died, Roland. Do you know how serious this is?" Enid flicked her fingers and lit the candle in the corner. "Tens of thousands of people died, and you might get hurt. Of course I have to come."

"It's just mental." Roland rubbed his face, indicating that there was nothing wrong with his body. "How are Fernandez and Shandel?"

"Hmm..." Enid tilted her face slightly: "They should be okay...?"

Roland: ...

"We have found the reason why the executive officers were transferred."

"I've traveled all the way to Bristol, exhausted, just because I'm worried that you...are injured - Roland." Enid's bland words clearly showed that she didn't want to hear Roland mention anyone outside the plan.

"The evil bat used the trick of turning the tables."

"So how should Roland deal with this?"
-
Why does she speak so harshly?

"You're hard, too."

"I almost got into trouble, just a little bit." Roland folded up his shirt covered with blood spots and showed him his arm and the back of his hand, turning it over and over again: "I'm fine, Enid, I've always been lucky."

But Enid was unhappy why they didn't give Roland a new set of clothes.

"You're just going to rest in this bloody outfit? Can't you find any clothes in all of Bristol?"

She drooped her face, and as if someone owed her something, she kept repeating the names of "Ring of Eternal Silence" and "Maelstrom". She opened the leather paper bag and pinched out a piece of sponge cake:
The top and bottom slices are soft, with plum jam, heavy cream and some chopped nuts in between.

Bright red juice flowed through his fingers.

"It came in a hurry. I got it from a friend. Her pastry chef is amazing."

"Try it, Roland."

"She has friends?"

Roland looked at the fingers stained with rose juice, and saw her holding the cake with one hand and pinching it with the other, and then handing it over to him.

——It is a very delicious food in terms of taste.

But it's just too sweet.

A small piece is enough.

"The price of plum jam has gotten a lot cheaper recently, hasn't it?"

Enid just laughed.

She fed Roland mouthful by mouthful and watched his cheeks puff up.

She wiped the red sauce from the corner of his mouth with her finger, then put it back into her mouth and rolled it up.

These are not intended to be ambiguous, they seem to be natural and subconscious actions.

"Eat more. You won't have anything else to swallow until tomorrow."

Those ritualists who survived were subjected to a series of interrogations.

Repeatedly, from various angles, and from different sects.

"Not only because too many people died. The ritualists of the Justice Cult discovered the corpse of an ancient angel in the outer city... This is more troublesome than the death of tens of thousands of people."

Enid stuffed the last small piece into Roland's mouth and wiped the corners of the cat's mouth with her thumb.

The death of tens of thousands of people does not cause the ritualists to feel anything special.

——The ones who should be suffering are the families of the deceased, and the ones who should be in trouble are the rulers of this country.

Ritualist?
They care more about the "ancient angel" who has not appeared for many years, how to distribute its body covered with treasures, and the reason for the appearance of this angel.

"They interrogate the citizens who survived."

Enid said casually. Roland's heart moved.

If the Holy Marrow is exposed, then David Cromwell will not be able to hide.

Holy Cross should be held responsible for this incident and for the deaths of tens of thousands of citizens.

"Although there is no clear result yet, it does not affect the judgment of the adults." Enid did not know what Roland was thinking. She looked at him with a calm expression: "It was done by the cultists."

Roland was stunned: "Cultists?"

"Yes." Enid crumpled the paper bag into a ball and lit it in her hand: "A few cultists have deceived the citizens and spread an evil item called "Holy Marrow" in Bristol."

“This stuff drives people crazy.”

"He is also the culprit that caused the whole thing."

"Many sacrifices have been made to stop this evil group of cultists."

"For example, the ritualists of the Ring of Eternal Silence and the Church of Justice, David Cromwell of the Holy Cross, and Carlotta of the Maelstrom."

Enid told Roland jokes, although Roland didn't find them funny at all.

"These evil people in the Cradle of Flesh and Blood are trying to deceive the citizens with the name of "Holy Marrow" and under the banner of the Holy Cross..." Enid raised her eyebrows: "But it has nothing to do with the Holy Cross."

Even if there is, so what?
"If it really involves the Holy Cross, then David Cromwell was bewitched by the heretics, right?" Roland sighed and continued softly, "It has nothing to do with the Holy Cross. He is just an apostate who has betrayed the Lord, a heretic. He cannot represent the Holy Cross, nor can he represent the Lord."

Enid's eyes were full of admiration. "That's right, Roland. When it comes to Holy Cross, all we can say is... David Cromwell is no longer the head priest. Oh, the transfer order is in his drawer... or somewhere else."

She told Roland the secular way of dealing with this.

These surviving citizens will be visited one by one by detectives and consultants from the Supervisory Bureau, or executors from the Tribunal.

If they have nothing to do with the "Holy Marrow" and no one in their family has taken it and turned into a monster with many legs - then they can stay out of it and don't have to pay extra money.

"If I heard correctly, you said 'pay'?"

Roland tugged at the sheets, looking surprised.

Enid stroked the back of his hand and explained softly, "It was because those citizens believed in the cultists and took the alienated "holy marrow" that chaos broke out in Bristol. If it weren't for them, the ancient angel might not have died."

"Holy Cross leaders firmly believe that the angel's shadow passing over Bristol was a warning of this matter."

“So, they are responsible for this.”

Enid said.

"Anyone who has personally taken the holy marrow is dead. If he has family members - whether they are wives, brothers, sisters or children, they must give a certain amount of money to those innocent citizens."

"To some extent, they are also accomplices of the cultists...it is normal to pay some money to atone for their sins."

That's how it's handled.

Holy Cross.

"Do other denominations agree?"

Enid asked back, "As long as I don't have to pay, Roland, why should I refuse your proposal? Right?"

That makes sense.

Roland thought for a moment and said, "Kiss me."

Enid: ...

Ten seconds later.

"You always like to talk about serious matters when you are joking, and you always joke again when you are talking about serious matters." Enid licked her plump lips, and the emotions in her eyes melted into spring streams: "I miss you so much."

"Then citizens—"

"Roland!"

"…I missed you too, Enid."
