Captain Jack of Azeroth
Chapter 186: Informant Runas
Chapter 186: Informant Runas
The Withered Mage has a hunched body and not a single hair on his body, just like Gollum in The Lord of the Rings.
Stellagosa said: "He is one of the few sober ones among the withered, so he is willing to cooperate with us."
The Withered looked at Jack, "You can call me the Shameful Runas."
Jack asked curiously, "Why is it shameful?"
Runas chuckled softly, "Because I betrayed the honor of an arcanist and became what I am now."
"Is that the only reason?" Jack said, "I remember that elves are very concerned about their appearance."
"You're right!" Runas nodded, "But I'm past the point of caring about my appearance."
Jack: "Will you continue like this? Is it possible to recover?"
"It's difficult!" Runas spread his hands. "We have tried it before, but found that it seems to be an irreversible process."
Jack looked at Stella Gosa, who shrugged, "At least there is no way now, unless we can find the Titan Guardian. It is said that they have a way."
Runas chuckled. "Titan Guardian? Is that something that those of us who are rejected by fate can touch?"
Jack smiled and said, "You don't have to underestimate yourself. Maybe you can really find it."
Runas shook his head and didn't believe what Jack said.
Stellagosa changed the subject. "Lunas, Captain Jack is a powerful hero. He has a powerful magical ship and dozens of crew members who can help us solve the problem of the withered."
Runas shook his head. "Too few. There are thousands of withered mages."
Jack smiled and said, "Numbers don't determine the outcome of a battle, but strategy does."
"You are good at strategy?" Runas asked with a smile, "Withered mages are all mages. Do you know how powerful a thousand mages are?"
"How much spellcasting ability can the Withered Mage still retain?" Jack asked.
"Even if it's one-tenth of them, even if it's only at the level of a wizard apprentice, it's still a powerful force." Runas said, "If you underestimate them, you'll probably die in their hands."
Jack spread his hands, "I won't underestimate any enemy, but I won't overestimate them either."
Stellagosa said quickly, "Lunas, let's talk about the Withered's situation first, and then listen to Captain Jack's countermeasures."
"Okay!" Runas instinctively felt that Jack was unreliable, but since Stellagosa trusted him so much, he couldn't say anything.
"The Withered have two leaders, one is Ishkanes and the other is Tedrissen. They were both powerful mages in the past, but they did not lose their minds after becoming Withered. They organized the Withered to destroy the magic network and wanted to draw energy from it. They concentrated the magic network energy into the collector crystal tower. I don't know what conspiracy they are plotting."
Jack looked at Stella Gosa, "Do you have a detailed map?"
Stellagosa immediately cast a spell and summoned a magic map.
Jack looked at Runas, "Where are they gathering?"
Runas pointed to the eastern mountain and said, "This place is called Zahnal. They have destroyed a magic network here. A large amount of arcane energy has flowed out and polluted the entire valley."
Jack looked at the distance between Zachnar and the river, "It's a bit far!"
"What do you mean a bit far?" Stellagosa asked puzzledly.
Runas was also puzzled. He turned his head to look at Jack, waiting for his answer.
Jack pointed to where the river bends, "This is the closest place to Zachnar. My ship can dock here. The guns on my ship have a range of one thousand yards, and can only reach this open space."
"A thousand yards?" Stellagosa nodded. "That's a bit far indeed. Zahnal is at least five thousand yards away."
Runas spread his hands, "Besides artillery, do you have no other solution?" "Yes!" Jack nodded, "but artillery is the most convenient and labor-saving method."
Runas said sarcastically: "If you can cast a super large magic, it will be easier than artillery."
Jack didn't care, "Unfortunately, I don't have that ability."
Stellagosa asked, "Is there any way to increase the range of the artillery?"
"Of course, we can, but we need to improve the formula of gunpowder, which takes time." Jack spread his hands, "We don't have much time. Something went wrong in the Eastern Kingdom. I need to get back as soon as possible."
Stella Gosa asked hurriedly: "What should we do then?"
Jack thought for a moment and said, "I'll let Nadro study it first. Maybe he can make it in time!"
Stellagosa nodded, "That's the only way."
She had no choice, otherwise she would have called Jack over.
Runas was speechless. "If you don't have any other ideas, just say it directly to save time."
Jack looked at him, "What can you do?"
Runas said: "Defeat them one by one."
"Can you keep them apart?" Jack asked.
Runas said in a deep voice: "I can expose myself, and then they will definitely come back to hunt me down."
"This is too dangerous!" Stella Gosa said quickly: "I don't agree."
Runas: "There is no other solution!"
Jack raised his hand, "I disagree, too."
Runas frowned and looked at Jack. Jack said, "Your information is very important to us. I guess Ishkanais and Tedrissen may not be the culprits."
"Why do you think so?"
Jack explained: "Have you ever seen any faction with two leaders? Who are the real bosses?"
Runas was silent for a moment, "You are right, it was my mistake."
Jack said, "Only if we work together can we defeat the Withered. So, we have to do our own thing. Runas, we need more detailed intelligence, so I'll leave it to you."
Runas assured: "No problem!"
Jack looked at Stellagosa, "My lady, I need to know how many blue dragons are available to join the battle."
Stellagosa said embarrassedly: "The other blue dragons have things to do, I can only mobilize some dragon people to help."
The dragon people are still very powerful, but they are much less useful than blue dragons. First of all, dragon people cannot fly and have insufficient mobility. Secondly, dragon people cannot use dragon breath, and their attainments in magic are much worse than those of blue dragons.
"How many dragon people are there?"
"Twelve," Stellagosa assured. "They are all powerful dragon people."
Jack thought: There are enough of them, and the role of these dragon men should be equivalent to that of a blue dragon.
Just as Jack was about to continue asking, Stellagosa's communication rune stone rang, "Something went wrong at the Blue Wing Breeding Farm..."
