Chapter 133 Does this foreshadow the future?
Chapter 133 Does this foreshadow the future?
The "Emperor's" palace.
"The legion commander is on his way."
As soon as Kahn finished speaking, he was interrupted by a sudden sound. A whistle echoed at the top of the tower, and the volume gradually increased. The old man took a few steps back, his face full of fear.
A group of red-armored warriors rose from the base of the tower, slowly and vertically emerging through the central opening of the circular platform.
There were ten Astartes, their jetpacks hissing with blue fire. Their armour was painted red with brass trim. War butchers, assault veterans of the 9th Company. They were always the first to enter the battle and the last to leave.
One after another they landed on the edge of the circular platform and turned off their jetpacks.
Korga, the captain of the War Butcher, glanced at Kahn.
"Greetings from the Ninth, Captain Kahn. You got here before all of us, after all."
"Where is the captain of the Ninth Company?" Kahn asked.
"I'm cleaning up the trash down there," Kolga replied. He switched to the communication channel: "I'm Kolga, this is the Zhan Tu Squad, we've captured the false emperor."
"No, you didn't," Kahn said firmly.
Korga glanced at Kahn again.
His eyepieces were non-reflective jet lenses mounted on a black metal helmet.
He bowed frivolously. "Excuse me, Captain," he said cunningly, "but the prisoners and the military merits are of course yours."
"That is not what I meant," Kahn replied, "This man has the right to surrender to our Legion Commander and the Princess."
"Your loyalty is unmatched among the World Eaters." Korga bowed frivolously again.
Full of irony.
Kahn's reputation within the World Eaters has changed to that of a wimp who relied on little girls to get to the top, a loyal dog to the Emperor's daughter, and a despicable man who got the responsibility of serving in the spearhead force by whispering in others' ears.
Drej took a step forward, ready to reason with this disrespectful fellow—with his fists. But Kahn held him back with his hand.
Kolga snorted, and his men all laughed: "Captain, let this bastard have whatever he wants."
Kolga said: "Let's just not give it to him."
"We are destroying an ancient empire, Captain Korga," Kahn said firmly. "Can't we show a little courtesy in the execution of our mission? Or are we just a bunch of barbarians?"
Korga stared at Kahn for a moment, then ordered his deputy to send a signal to the fleet.
Kahn was certain that Korga had not actually yielded, for he had not been persuaded by any argument or principle.
As the captain of the 9th Company's elite commando team, Ekaton has many honors, but Locke, as the company commander, has a higher rank than him.
That's it.
They stayed here for a minute or two, waiting for the response from the legion commander and the princess.
An Astartes attack ship with its engine ablaze crashed outside the window. The huge explosion illuminated the southern sky before slowly dissipating in a moment.
Kahn watched the crisscrossing of light and shadows passing across the circular platform in the afterglow of the setting sun.
Wait!
He suddenly understood why the old man had been so insistent on the commander coming here in person. He held the bolter in one hand and walked straight towards the Golden Throne.
"What are you doing?" the old man asked.
"Where is he?" Kahn shouted, "Where on earth is he? Is he one of the assassins?"
"Come back soon!" the old man shouted miserably and leaped forward, trying to grab Kahn.
There was a loud bang. The old man's chest bulged, and blood, flesh, and silk exploded everywhere.
He took a few unsteady steps, his tattered robes catching fire, and staggered over the edge of the platform.
He gradually lost strength in his limbs, his clothes were tattered, and he fell like a stone through the gap in the palace tower.
Kolga lowered his pistol.
"I've never killed an emperor before," he laughed.
"This is not the emperor," Kahn shouted, "You fool, the real emperor has always been here."
He was close to the throne now, reaching out to grab one of the armrests.
There's a light flaw here, perfect but not perfect enough, so the light image doesn't project correctly onto the throne.
The "Emperor" deceived everyone, including the three imperial guards.
The invisible force field gradually dissipated, and a huge, dried-up corpse sat on the golden throne.
He was dressed in a yellow robe of fine silk, on which skilful craftsmen had carved the most beautiful designs with their art.
The skull-like head rested gently on the backrest of the golden throne. Countless densely packed pipes, like earthworms, extended from behind the golden throne and led to the top of the magnificent tower under their feet.
"Don't touch him!" The dying old man roared unwillingly, but Kolga stepped on his head.
"This looks like some kind of life support device."
"Endless spiritual energy is being extracted by this tower and is leading to unknown places."
"The Emperor is already a dying man, and they are keeping him alive with this strange life-support device."
The three guards had extensive knowledge in their minds. After just a cursory glance, they knew the wonderful uses of the Golden Throne. They spoke one by one.
The golden throne trembled violently, and an invisible force field shock wave erupted. This was very similar to the attack method of the elite guards, but much more powerful.
It swept in all directions, hurling Kahn and the others like corncobs in a hurricane, and the stained glass windows at the top of the tower shattered outward in a blizzard of sharp blades.
Most of the members of the Zhan Tu Squad disappeared without a trace.
They were blown off the top of the tower, waving their arms helplessly as they disappeared in the energy wave. Another man hit a steel column as he fell, breaking his back and tumbling in the darkness like a rag doll.
As he flew backwards, Korga managed to grab a pole and held on to it to steady himself.
His plasteel knuckles dug into the metal posts, and his legs flew backward horizontally as wind, shards of glass, and gravity fields assaulted him.
Because Kahn was too close to the Golden Throne, he was hit with full force. He was thrown to the ground and flew horizontally, passing over the circular platform towards the descending channel.
His blood-red armor scratched across the agate floor, leaving deep grooves and making a harsh noise.
He went over the edge of the platform and over the vertical cliff, but the force field wall carried him away from the cave like a leaf and slammed him hard on the far side of the circular platform.
He gripped the ground, his arm banging his lip and his legs dangling in the air, pinned down by the pressure of the blast and his body being unable to move.
He was almost defeated by this ruthless force and could only hold on with difficulty.
A shining golden light landed on the platform in front of him. The light of the teleportation array was dazzling, and then dissipated in an instant.
Only one demigod was left standing on the edge of the platform.
This deity was a true giant, as different from Astartes as Astartes is from humans.
The god just stood there, unmoved, surrounded by the strong wind and facing the clouds.
Then, a holy figure emerged from behind his cloak, and the white wings danced gently, and even the strong wind could not shake the light rhythm.
All it takes is a psychic mouth cannon.
Lux opened her small mouth slightly, and psychic photons gathered towards her throat.
The golden energy beam collided with the golden throne, causing a violent explosion instantly.
The explosion echoed through the tower. There was a whine that was drowned out by the howling of the wind, and then both the whine and the wind died away.
The force field wall disappeared in an instant. The hurricane receded, and broken glass fell to the ground like raindrops, making a tinkling sound.
Without the force field to support him, Kolga fell on the broken window frame. But he was safe at last, so he climbed up by himself. "Your Highness!" he shouted, kneeling on one knee, his eyes filled with enthusiasm.
Even though Kahn's flattering behavior is shameful, if there is a chance, Kolga would also like to eat gigolo food!!!
To please the princess is equal to to please the commander of the legion, equal to to gain the attention of the Holy Emperor!
Is there any better reward than this?
As the pressure disappeared, Kahn could no longer hold himself up. His hands twisted into a ball, and his body slid back to where he was before. The smooth agate had no points of force to hold on to.
He slid off the edge, and a strong hand grabbed his wrist and pulled him back onto the platform.
Kahn rolled over and stood up.
He looked back at the Golden Throne across the circular platform; it was a smoking ruin, its secret hub exploded from within.
Amid the twisted and cracked metal plates and shattered parts, sat a burning corpse, his teeth still smiling above the charred skull, his charred arms still supporting the half-destroyed armrests of the throne.
"This is the price of blasphemy!"
A deep voice murmured.
Kahn looked at the two gods beside him.
"By the way, Kahn, where are my brother's three guardsmen?"
Lux was very curious about how mighty and extraordinary the imperial guards created by her brother would be.
They must have the strongest muscles, outstanding wisdom, and fierce martial arts, just like the ancient knights of Demacia.
She didn't particularly like the Imperial Guards created by the Emperor. Those big golden corns were too serious. Except for the Emperor, they looked at everyone with an arrogant look as if to say, "Who the hell are you?"
"."
Kahn didn't know how to answer this question because the three big, dirty guys were not wearing any clothes.
Fortunately, they kept posing in the corner, motionless, looking like three sculptures.
"I think they must have left."
Kahn lied to his face.
"Well, forget about them, let's go see what valuables the Emperor's treasury has!"
Lux has always been thinking about the treasure house of this ancient empire.
Research is the most expensive thing. She is penniless now, and so is Nuseria.
Even basic experimental equipment has to be obtained from Demacia.
The Webway Project requires a huge amount of money, and the sensible Lux has not forgotten that she is still the head of Demacia and the true ruler.
We can't keep exploiting our own people!
Passing through the long corridor with an arched roof, where four corridors intersected, the Space Marines stationed in front of the Emperor's private treasury saluted the Legion Commander and his entourage.
"Have you ever gone in?"
Lux rubbed her white little hands, and her shining eyes had turned into the shape of a little money-grubber.
"No, I am waiting for you to open the private treasury of the false emperor with your own hands."
Kahn said respectfully.
Inserting the key and turning the handle, dazzling golden light rushed out from the gap in the door, and Lux's mouth gradually opened into a round "O" shape.
"!!!"
"Why is there nothing!!!"
Lux screamed like a boiling kettle.
The private treasury of the "Emperor" has a polished marble floor and countless shelves for precious treasures, but there is nothing on them. The only objects are spiders weaving webs in the corners.
There were several large oak boxes in the corner. With her last hope, Lux opened them, but they were also empty, without a single gold coin.
After closing the box with a "bang", Lux lowered her head in disappointment.
"What's going on? Did you hide the fake emperor's financial reports?"
Eager to take credit, Kolga grabbed an official who was in charge of the palace's finances from somewhere, threw him to the ground roughly, and pointed a grenade launcher at his head.
"Tell me! Where is the treasure?"
The official smiled bitterly and said, "What treasure is there? If you had come five thousand years earlier, you might have found something."
Yes, this empire lasted for five thousand years and even survived the Dark Ages.
The dark times here must have been tough.
The warp storm trapped them in this galaxy, and the Empire could not receive supplies from the outside world.
The resources of this galaxy were completely exhausted in the brilliant era before the Dark Ages, when the mineral resources were completely exhausted.
In the chaotic dark ages, with warlords fighting each other, this broken galaxy has long since grown old.
Even their emperor, the one who led them through millennium after millennium, had emptied himself of everything he had to maintain the operation of this vast empire, even his flesh and blood and spirit had been drained dry.
He trapped himself on the Golden Throne, using the last of his life and will to protect the people he loved.
He had no property and even donated his own flesh and blood just to survive that dark age.
How similar, how similar to the future of the empire.
This seems to foreshadow something. Everything that happens here is foreshadowing some kind of fable and showing some kind of fate.
Could it be that one day in the future, something like this will happen to the empire?
The legion rebelled, and the Astartes Legion, led by Galen's Crown Guard, besieged the Emperor's Golden Throne. The World Eaters took the lead and attacked the magnificent palace.
Lux, the Emperor, and the two armies face off.
Just like what happened today.
She killed the Emperor.
Took away everything from this great empire.
【Subspace, now.】
There is no positive or negative, no upside down or reverse, no past, present or future, the highest sky is in chaos without division.
The Lord of Change screamed and repeated it thousands of times, it was time to end the boring and tedious chess game.
Change! Change! Change! It's hard to figure out.
Nine changes, nine subversions, nine destinies, the loom of fate received instructions from the Supreme God, the rotten gears began to turn, and the dusty machine began to operate.
Break the rules, jump to fate, be treacherous and extraordinary!
Gah!!!!
Prepare to go to Xishuangbanna to make a fortune!
A horse cannot grow fat without night grass, and a man cannot become rich without unexpected wealth.
Of course it’s not a scam.
Be a mascot.
Low risk, high profit.
I hope to make a few million so that I can have a good rest.
As expected, wealth and power are only passed on through blood.
