Chapter 496

Alice and Jamie exchanged a glance and saw the helplessness in each other's eyes.

Caught red-handed, the police will inevitably interrogate him, and at that point, his vampire identity might be exposed.

Just as the two were wondering what to do, Ron's voice came from behind them.

"This is a misunderstanding."

The four people turned their heads and saw Ron, wearing a coat, walking towards them.

"This corpse is not any innocent, ordinary person who was murdered, but a dangerous vessel of curse."

She looked at the two policemen who were still holding their guns.

"Haven't you realized that neither of them has any intention of attacking? Put down your guns."

Ron's appearance and demeanor were beyond the reach of ordinary people. In addition, his long tenure in a high position had honed his extraordinary aura, and his words seemed to possess a convincing magic.

The two officers exchanged a brief glance, then looked at Jamie and his companion, who were behaving obediently, and lowered their pistols with some skepticism.

"Alice, could you please give them a brief account of what happened last night?"

With Ron's mediation, Alice finally had the opportunity to properly recount the origins of the female corpse.

Over the next five minutes, the two officers felt as if their brains were being bombarded with an extremely dense stream of information.

They can only roughly understand words like "curse" and "female corpse" that have no learning curve.

But the other party's narration was so fluent and without any hesitation that even the most skilled liar could not do it.

Just as the two were hesitating, a call came through the walkie-talkie on their arm, giving them a chance to verify.

After learning that there had indeed been an unusual incident in the Motlake district that morning, they had largely come to believe Alice's earlier account.

When asked by headquarters whether reinforcements were needed, the officer gave a response.

"No need, thank you."

After they finished speaking, they turned off the safety on their pistols and put them back in their holsters.

"It seems you're not lying, but just to be on the safe side, let's leave your personal information for future follow-up investigations."

"Just keep mine."

Without waiting for Jamie and Alice to answer, Ron spoke up.

Upon hearing this, the police officer's expression immediately turned serious.

"Madam, this is not a joke. If any unexpected situation occurs later, can you take responsibility for it?"

Ron remained unfazed when questioned by the police officers.

"of course can."

“My name is Ron Mayfair. This estate is a family property of the Mayfair family. If any other situations arise that require further investigation, you can contact the relevant personnel, and they will cooperate with your work.”

There was no hint of boasting or deliberate threat in her words; she simply and casually took the blame for Jamie and Alice.

His effortless composure impressed both officers.

"We understand."

The officer's tone carried a hint of respect.

"thanks for your cooperation."

Alice and Jamie breathed a sigh of relief after they drove away.

"Thank you, Miss Ron. If it weren't for you, we really wouldn't have been able to handle this situation..."

Jamie wasn't just being polite.

He has been in Britain for so long since coming from America, but he doesn't have a stable job. Not only that, his visa is about to expire, and he doesn't know how much time he will be wasted if he is investigated.

If Alice were to return to the police station, her vampire identity would likely be exposed, causing panic. The contrast between the two—who could confront and fight an evil female corpse created by a cult on the streets of London at night, yet nearly fail even when questioned by secular police—is truly both laughable and pathetic.

None of Su Fan's female confidantes are mediocre or incompetent.

"I've just fulfilled my duty as the host, it's nothing big. Besides, you can't possibly be murderers. All I did was help you avoid the process of proving your innocence."

Ron shook his head.

"Besides, even if I don't do anything, Alice can still solve this problem through her own efforts."

She looked at the short-haired vampire who hadn't said much.

"The world's financial markets are mostly controlled by a number of financial giants, but there are also speculative funds that do not belong to any financial group. Among them is a mysterious speculative fund giant that has been in the stock market for decades without ever revealing its true identity."

"They were able to seize every opportunity of the times and amass a great deal of wealth."

"No one knows why she can predict stock market fluctuations so accurately. Rumors of insider trading and collusion with political figures abound, but no one has actually found out her background."

"But the answer is not that complicated. The reason why the mysterious big investor is invincible in the stock market is because she is an extraordinary person with the ability to predict the future."

“In the secular world, she is no less important than me.”

Upon hearing this, Alice turned and looked at Ron.

"As expected of the strongest witch in the Mayfair family's history, she saw through my disguise with ease."

"Since you possess such exceptional abilities, why are you content to be preoccupied with mundane family affairs?"

"There are many reasons, which I cannot go into detail about."

A cold wind blew, and Ron tightened his trench coat.

"Let's go, don't keep Su Fan and Theresa waiting."

"Then this..."

Jamie stepped aside and gestured to the "upside-down scallion" that hadn't been completely buried yet.

"This is easy, just a moment."

Ron stared at the pit where the woman's body was. Suddenly, the soft grass collapsed like quicksand, widening the originally narrow pit.

The mound of earth that had been dug out and piled up floated up automatically, filling and compacting the deep pit.

“What a beautiful silent spell, Miss Witch. You deserve a place among the distinguished alumni of Hogwarts.”

"I hope so."

Ron readily accepted Alice's teasing, and then returned with them.

Shortly after entering the gate, the three met Su Fan and Theresa in the spacious reception room.

Clearly, after finishing breakfast, the two moved here to wait.

"It seems your conversation went very smoothly."

Alice made small talk as if nothing had happened.

"It went very smoothly, but I'm more interested in your story of outsmarting the police."

Su Fan's tone was relaxed and playful, but Alice felt an invisible pressure.

My fishing rod!
"Please tell me, how did you manage to be seen hiding a body while driving here?"

"Unexpected situation."

In order to keep her salary and deep-sea lure fishing, Alice began to explain.

“When we were moving it, we had limited resources and could only wrap it in black plastic, but the police also said it was suspected to be a corpse… We could have easily explained that the thing last night was an adult doll that Jamie bought, but unfortunately the police came at the worst possible time.”
