Chapter 11 Witch
Shasta had no idea what Morey was thinking.

All she knew was that she had followed a merchant ship into Sig Town and stayed there for three days, but she still hadn't gained anything.

Shasta was somewhat anxious. She said to Morey, "I don't care what the lords here are doing. I can't waste any more time here. If you still can't find it, then I'll find it myself."

Morey shook his head instinctively: "No, no, no, you can't expose yourself, it will implicate me."

Shasta said, "The Church hasn't reached here yet, and nobody will think you have anything to do with us!"

"That won't work either. Sige Town is so big, the chances of you being exposed are too high. In the past few days, only my caravan has entered Sige Town. Do you think people are stupid?"

The two had a heated argument.

Morey was in a real bind; this wasn't the first time Shasta had made such a suggestion.

This headstrong guy has an extremely sensitive identity and has completely disregarded his situation.

While Shasta is right that the probability of a leak is extremely low, it is still possible.

If this matter is exposed, it will be a disaster, and it may even implicate his family.

Shasta said, "Do you think the nobles and the church have a good relationship? The descendants of the Grand Duke of Crack Armor wouldn't leak secrets to the church."

Morey knew that the Archduke of the Rift had a bad relationship with the Church, but that was not a reason for him to support Shasta's adventure.

The latter can simply walk away, while he has to bear the consequences; even a low probability is unacceptable.

Morey said, "Listen to me, listen to me first. I'm not completely empty-handed. I think she might not be in Skye Town."

Shasta frowned, waiting for Morey to continue.

“Amethyst can sense your power, but I’ve searched all over Sig Town and haven’t found any unusual reactions from her. So she’s most likely not in Sig Town anymore; she’s probably been exposed. If you think she’s still alive in this land, then she can only have escaped into the deep mountains.”

This matter is not difficult to predict.

There are only two possible reasons for entering the deep mountains.

One reason is that she deliberately left human settlements and lived among wild animals.

Secondly, she was exposed and had to leave.

It's unlikely to be the first possibility.

Even with great strength, it would be difficult to escape unscathed from a dangerous forest alone, let alone live alone.

Therefore, Morey believes it is the latter.

Shasta frowned and said, "If that's the case, then this matter should have caused a huge uproar; it's impossible that no one knows about it."

She sensed that a powerful force had been exposed, and the scene must have been quite large, so that it wouldn't have gone unnoticed.

Morey asked, "Is it possible that only a very few people really know about this?"

Shastad acknowledged that this was not unusual; not all powers are destructive, or rather, destructive abilities are few and far between.

The only thing Shasta was certain of was that she was still alive.

According to Morey's investigation, there have been no reports of missing girls in Sig Town recently.

If that's the case, then the girl most likely escaped into the mountains a long time ago.

This is a terrible thing.

Morey said, "If Roman Riftarms is a controlling person, then he should help us find the girl."

Shasta's pupils constricted sharply: "What did you do?"

Morey truthfully stated, "I mentioned the mountain dwellers to him. In Sig Town, only Roman Riftarms can find her, and it's impossible for us outsiders to know the specifics of the mountains."

Shasta's eyebrows shot up as he angrily retorted, "You self-righteous fool, how do you know Roman Rift Armor won't do anything to her?"

"You were just saying that the Cracked Armor Clan wouldn't help the Church."

Shasta's forehead veins bulged as he gritted his teeth and said, "That doesn't mean he's not hostile towards us!"

Morey was also furious: "Otherwise what? Without enough manpower, are you going to go into the mountains alone to find your companions? Can you even find them? If you die in the mountains, do you expect my caravan to wait for you here for the rest of your life?"

Shasta suddenly stood up.

Morey immediately took a step back, maintaining a safe distance from her, and asked, trying to appear calm, "What are you going to do?"

"Hmph!" Shasta snorted coldly, walked past Morey, and left the cabin on his own.

Morey's scalp tingled. He quickly followed behind Shasta, pressing her for an answer at breakneck speed: "Don't tell me you're going to negotiate with him. Nobles will never accept something like this. You're not qualified. He'll just think you're insulting him..."

Shasta left the merchant ship without stopping, wrapped in a black robe.

Without turning her head, she coldly said, "I don't trust nobles. I will find the child and take her away from here before that happens!"

“The Church is hunting you down everywhere. If you expose yourself, the lord here will know you’re not a local and will then connect it to me. On the contrary, if you don’t expose yourself, even if Roman Riftarms finds your companion, once he finds out her identity, he’ll know that the child is just a poor little thing and has a very high chance of surviving…” Morey chased after Shasta, trying to persuade the stubborn guy.

Shasta waved her hand sharply behind her, and thick smoke billowed from her hand, forming a wall of mist.

Morey stopped in his tracks, looking helpless. He shouted, "I'll only wait for you here for two days. Whether you come back or not, I'm leaving!"

Are all those damned witches this grumpy?!

You deserve to have fallen to this state!
He kicked a stone by the river hard, and his face quickly contorted in pain.

……

Night falls quickly.

The residents of Sig fell asleep in unease.

A figure shrouded in smoke entered a farmhouse in Sigge Town. This was the most common type of thatched-roof building in Sigge Town.

The plume of smoke approached the sleeping farmer, emitting a faint mist, and asked in a seductive voice:
"Where is the witch of Sig Town?"

The man slept even more soundly on the thatched bed, muttering in his sleep, "I don't know..."

Shasta was not discouraged. He left the house, walked a few dozen meters forward, and entered the second house.

Where is the witch in Sig Town?

"What witch..."

On a spring night, the moonlight was as clear as water.

On the dirty, smelly road.

Shasta walked through the settlement of Sig, asking many people questions.

Unbeknownst to her, some farmers in the farmhouses she passed were tossing and turning, not yet asleep. Suddenly, they heard the sound of a door opening next door, looked out out of curiosity, and were met with a horrifying scene.

A strange wisp of smoke moved about, like a demon from hell in legends, and occasionally entered a farmhouse, as if it were sucking their souls.

The discoverer's eyes widened, and he instinctively covered his mouth with his hand, afraid to breathe, lest he attract the attention of the strange cloud of smoke.

……

Shasta's search pattern is interval query.

After checking with more than a dozen households, she found nothing.

She was prepared to look a little longer and give up if she couldn't find it.

She entered a thatched hut.

"Where is the witch of Sig Town?"

“Gerva…”

The gaunt old farmer murmured in his sleep.

No answer.

Shasta suddenly perked up; she knew there was a lead. Good luck.

Morey is truly useless!
Where is Gweil?

"Gerviel, the lord is here to arrest you... That damned merchant told the lord to come and get you..."

Shasta knew that her ability could put mortals to sleep and have them reveal secrets in their dreams.

But dreams are illogical, and Shasta doesn't know what the other person dreamed about, so the answer must be derived through analysis.

So, did that witch named Gweil escape to the deep mountains?

Shasta sighed inwardly.

"Who are you to Gweil?"

"No, no, no! That's not my daughter, that's an evil witch, Lord Church Master, please have mercy and don't burn us..."

Shasta frowned and asked again:

Where is Gweil?

Where is Gweil?

She repeated the sentence many times, and finally got a clue from the old-looking farmer in front of her...

"do not know……"

Shasta clenched her fists. She had gone to so much trouble to finally find Gweil's family.

But this guy didn't know anything?
She was very disappointed, and just as she was about to leave, she noticed a woman sleeping next to the farmer.

She should be Gweil's mother, and Gweil's father's wife.

In addition, four children were sleeping in the house, who appeared to be 10, 7, and 4 years old, and a child who looked about two years old, sleeping in the woman's arms.

Shasta glanced at the woman and child, shook his head, and left the house.

After she left, the woman who had been feigning sleep suddenly opened her terrified eyes.

When she sat up to wake her husband, she found that she couldn't wake him no matter what she did.

"Stop shaking him, he's entered a deep sleep stage."

A voice drifted from behind.

The woman froze, then turned to look and saw a plume of smoke standing on the ground, with a pair of bright red eyes silently watching her from within it.

The peasant woman was so frightened she almost fainted; her face contorted in terror as she screamed:

"No! You monster! Don't hurt my child!"

The smoke suddenly drew closer and asked in a seductive voice.

Where is Gweil?
