Chapter 8: Can't we be together?
Chapter 8: Can't we be together?
"Police station?"
Half an hour later, in the consultation room, Dr. Solans, looking preoccupied, briefly recounted what had happened.
It turned out that Dr. Solans had slept in the consultation room overnight and only remembered when he woke up in the morning that it was the day for new students to register and that he was responsible for some of the work.
He had barely slept for the past two days and hadn't changed his clothes for several days, so he decided to go home and wash up before coming back, since his residence wasn't far from the academy.
No idea.
When he got home, he discovered that his house had been broken into!
The ground was in a mess.
So he immediately called the police.
Then Officer Jenny took him back to the Kanaz League Police Station to assist with the investigation.
Because he was afraid the sound of his phone would disturb his sleep, he left it in his office last night, thinking he would be back soon, but who knew...
That's why he disappeared for so long.
What's missing?
Jinghe handed him a glass of water.
Dr. Solans took the water and smiled helplessly, "That's the problem. I've taken a quick look, and nothing of value is missing, only some stones that aren't very attractive to others."
Stone?
Before he could react, Daigo asked, with a slightly exaggerated reaction, "Those stones?"
"yes."
To be honest, some of those stones are indeed relatively rare meteorites, but in most people's eyes, they are just some useless stones.
What thief would risk everything for a few stones?
But clearly, there was another person in the consultation room who also understood the value of those stones.
Daigo looked serious, and judging from his posture, he seemed to be preparing to help Dr. Solans find the lost stones.
For some reason, Jinghe had a strange feeling.
Could the other party's real purpose be the stone in his hand that originally housed Gastly?
It's not impossible.
But if that's the case, and the other party couldn't find the stone in Dr. Solans's hands, wouldn't it be possible that they would find it in themselves?
Jing He suddenly realized that in the original story, Dr. Solans had provoked Team Ocean and Team Lava because he found a meteorite.
Could it be
He originally wanted to tell Dr. Solans that he had the stone containing Gastly and asked if he could exchange it for something.
But now that things have come to this, this matter will probably have to be postponed.
At least, until he determined the group's target.
"It's good that everyone is alright," Jing He said reassuringly.
“Thank you.” Dr. Solans gave him a grateful look.
I don't know if it was because I helped him get a good night's sleep yesterday, or because I finished his freshman registration today, or for some other reason.
Jinghe shook her head, indicating that it was alright.
"Alright, I need to go to the registrar's office to let them know. I just saw a lot of missed calls on my phone." Dr. Solans gave a wry smile and stood up.
“Let’s go together.” Jing He also stood up, and under the questioning gazes of Dr. Solans and Daigo, he explained helplessly, “There’s a problem with the main computer. Let’s see if we can apply for one first.”
"I can go. You can take mine for now; I don't usually use it anyway. The application won't be quick, but once it's approved, you can switch it back," Dr. Solans suggested.
After a brief hesitation, Jing He replied, "That works too."
Dr. Solans left, leaving only Jinghe deep in thought and Daiwu with a solemn expression in the consultation room.
It took Daigo quite a while to suddenly realize what was happening.
They were only halfway through their discussion about the metal monster.
After pausing to choose his words, he spoke: "Professor Jinghe, it's a metal monster."
Jing He also came to her senses and smiled slightly:
"Don't worry, the metal monster's problem isn't serious. Some psychological counseling will solve it."
Upon hearing this, Daigo breathed a sigh of relief.
He felt a pang of self-reproach.
If he hadn't been so busy with company matters lately and neglected MetalGhost, perhaps MetalGhost wouldn't have had this problem.
Immediately, the question that had been troubling him and becoming increasingly difficult to answer as he grew older resurfaced in his mind.
As the young master of Devon Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and a descendant of the Zvoch family, he needs to shoulder the responsibilities of the company and the family. Daigo will not refuse this responsibility, nor can he refuse it.
However, as a trainer, he is responsible not only for his Pokémon but also for the ideals he truly loves and aspires to.
He knew that a person's energy was limited. If Devon Corporation was just a small company, or if he didn't have such high goals for becoming a trainer, perhaps this wouldn't be a problem for his abilities.
but
"Dawu."
Suddenly, Jinghe's voice interrupted him.
Looking in the direction of the sound, I saw that he had placed the folder with the "doodles" on the table.
The metal monster is at a fork in the road.
"To treat the metal monster, we can take two steps: psychological counseling and physiological intervention."
He wrote "psychological counseling" and "physiological intervention" on the two forks in the road, looked up at Daigo, and asked casually, "Which step are you going to take first?"
Upon hearing this, Daigo almost instinctively asked, "Can't we come together?"
Jing He smiled, and continued to draw vertical lines between the two forked roads, turning them into a wide road. He said meaningfully:
"Yeah, can't we do it together?"
Looking at the two roads that had been widened and merged, Daigo's body trembled slightly, and he looked at Jinghe somewhat stiffly.
For some reason, he felt that Jing He's words seemed to have a hidden meaning. This feeling intensified when he met Jing He's meaningful gaze.
But Jinghe had already put away the folder, leaned back in her chair, and took a sip of coffee, saying, "It's too late today, how about starting tomorrow?"
Daigo hesitated for a moment, then finally smiled gently and said, "Okay."
After Daigo left, he left a line of text at the end of that piece of paper.
Daigo Zvoich – an extreme perfectionist.
"Gastly, what kind of rock do you think this is?"
Back in the quiet consultation room, Jinghe took out the stone again.
Now, the more he looks at the stone, the more he feels it has a connection to the burglary at Dr. Solans's house.
"口桀"
Gastly floated out from the ceiling.
Seeing that Jinghe didn't pursue the matter of it breaking the computer any further, Gastly breathed a sigh of relief.
Then it looked bewildered.
It doesn't know either.
Perhaps it once knew, but now it has long forgotten why it chose this stone to rest in peace.
"Could it be a fossil?"
Jinghe had to make a guess that seemed relatively reasonable.
If it is a fossil of an ancient feathered insect or a tentacle lily, then it still has considerable value.
"Kou Jie?"
Gastly floated to the rock, looked left and right, but couldn't figure out what was going on.
"How about we return him to Dr. Solans?" Jinghe asked Gastly tentatively.
If this stone is indeed the source of the trouble, then returning it to its original owner seems like a good option, even if it might be a bit irresponsible, he would still try to offer some warning.
"Kou Jie! Kou Jie!"
Upon hearing this, Gastly shook its head repeatedly, pointing to the stone in Jing He's hand, then to itself, firmly denying it and stating that it was the true owner of the stone.
Jing He chuckled, "Alright, alright, in the end it really did belong to you."
"Kou Jie!"
Gastly's mist transformed into a hand, patted his shoulder, and gave him a "you're teachable" look.
Jinghe glanced at it irritably, but didn't bother to argue with it, and focused her attention back on the stone.
"Perhaps I'm overthinking it; maybe those people have already gotten what they wanted."
Do you believe it yourself?
That's the look Gastly is giving me.
Jinghe decided not to dwell on this issue too much, because he had never had the initiative from the beginning.
Gastly, are you feeling unwell?
He recalled seeing Gastly's Pokédex entry earlier, which showed that its condition was not at its best.
"Kou Jie?"
Gastly shook its head in confusion.
Uncomfortable?
Nothing.
Seeing this, Jinghe frowned.
Whether it's Pokémon or humans, the biggest problem is that they don't feel uncomfortable when they're sick.
Although he learned a little bit about Pokémon medicine when he studied Pokémon psychology, his knowledge was fine for treating common minor ailments, but he was a bit inadequate when it came to potentially hidden problems.
Moreover, Gastly, a Ghost-type Pokémon, cannot be treated as an ordinary Pokémon.
'Want to go check out the Pokémon Center?'
But the thought of the cost for non-League registered trainers to treat their Pokémon at the Pokémon Center gives him a headache.
Money.
It's not just the cost of medical treatment; raising Gastly requires an even larger sum of money.
The kind with no upper limit.
Sighed to myself.
Fortunately, he has a stable job, which should be enough to train Gastly.
"Let's continue from where we left off."
Gastly's moves were only demonstrated at the beginning this morning before being interrupted, and it wasn't until now that it had time to continue.
"Kou Jie——"
"Other techniques are fine, but when it comes to 'hypnosis,' I do have some experience."
"My understanding of 'will-o'-the-wisps' is that stealth is more important than speed, although speed is also important."
"'Strange Light' can focus more on speed because it's harder to hide, but you could try combining 'Strange Light' with 'Will-o'-the-Wisp'."
