Two streaks of light, one blue and one white, like two shooting stars streaking across the sky, sped off towards the outskirts of Lin'an City.
The speed was so fast that it almost exceeded the limits of what the naked eye could perceive, leaving only two blurry streaks of light that vanished in a flash.
This was not the same posture they adopted when they fled the Xu residence in a panic to escape Fahai's pursuit.
They are now driven by revenge! By unleashing the fury that erupts like a volcano!
"Sister! That damned bald monk is going too far! How dare he coerce us like this! If we don't teach him a lesson today, I, Xiaoqing, swear I will never be a demon again!" In the blue light, Xiaoqing's voice was filled with uncontrollable anger. The voice was sharp, like a sword being drawn from its sheath, shattering the tranquility of the night.
A demonic aura erupted from her body, forming an invisible vortex around her. Even the wind seemed to become biting and piercing, cutting like a knife against her face.
The thought of Xu Xian's distraught and forced smile, and of her sister's submissive and contrived act in order to preserve their mortal relationship, fueled her anger, which burned fiercely as if it had been thrown into boiling oil.
"That damned bald monk! He bullies people just because he has some skill! If it weren't for his status, I would have cleaved him in two with my sword long ago!" Xiaoqing cursed inwardly. She recalled the scene at the Xu residence, where Fahai put on a compassionate appearance, but his words were full of threats and arrogance.
Especially the way he looked at Xu Xian, that condescending contempt, made Xiao Qing want to tear him to pieces immediately.
Bai Suzhen did not respond immediately; her cold voice contrasted sharply with Xiaoqing's irritability.
Her white dress fluttered in the night wind, outlining her graceful figure.
Her stunningly beautiful face was covered with a layer of frost, like a thousand-year-old iceberg, keeping people at a distance.
The gentle ripples in her eyes had now frozen into ice, like two cold stars, shimmering with a chilling light, yet burning with an even more intense flame deep within.
She remained silent, not uttering a single word.
However, the aura emanating from her as a thousand-year-old demon was more terrifying and more restrained than that of Xiaoqing.
It was a suppressed anger, like a volcano about to erupt, enough to incinerate everything.
Even the dark clouds in the sky seemed to sense this oppressive force, churning and condensing into a massive vortex, as if to swallow the entire world.
"My lord, for you, even if it means eternal damnation, Suzhen will accept it!" Bai Suzhen silently recited in her heart. Her deep love for Xu Xian, as firm as a rock, had now transformed into fearless courage and boundless rage.
She recalled Xu Xian's gentle gaze, his loving embrace, and his thoughtful words, all of which filled her with warmth and happiness.
"Fahai! Since you won't let us sisters live, then don't blame us for disregarding the common people and destroying your Jinshan Temple!" Bai Suzhen roared in her heart, her voice filled with determination and anger.
She originally wanted to live a peaceful and happy life with Xu Xian, but Fahai shattered all of that, forcing them onto a path of no return.
“Sister is right!” Xiaoqing could not hear her sister’s thoughts, but she could feel the resolute aura, and her spirits lifted. “However, if the two of us sisters are to deal with that old bald monk and his Golden Mountain Temple, we will probably need to make some preparations.”
Bai Suzhen did not immediately reject Xiaoqing's suggestion; she had already calmed down.
Although the anger in her heart was still burning, she knew that she could not defeat Fahai with anger alone.
As the abbot of Jinshan Temple, Fahai not only possessed great personal strength, but Jinshan Temple also had a powerful protective formation. Trying to force his way in would be like throwing an egg against a rock.
Bai Suzhen nodded slightly in agreement, then turned and flew towards a desolate mountain forest.
She and Xiaoqing had stumbled upon that place by chance; it had decent spiritual energy, and more importantly, it was secluded enough.
That was her escape route, and also her secret weapon to deal with Fahai.
Many years ago, Bai Suzhen had a premonition that she and the Buddhist sect would eventually face a calamity. Being cautious by nature, she prepared for the worst and hid many magical treasures in various secret places in preparation for any eventuality.
Some of these magical treasures came from her thousand years of cultivation, while others were obtained by chance while traveling in the mortal world. Each one was priceless and possessed immense power.
Deep within this secluded, dense forest lies one of the most important treasure troves.
Before long, two streaks of light passed through the overlapping shadows of the trees and finally descended slowly.
Unlike the powerful demonic aura they displayed when they sped away earlier, Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing now concealed their presence and moved gently, as if afraid of disturbing the tranquility of the place.
This dense forest is very secluded, surrounded by towering peaks that block out the sun, making it difficult for even the midday sun to penetrate, casting only dappled shadows on the ground.
The trees are tall and ancient, their gnarled branches resembling giant dragons coiled in the mountains and forests.
The forest was eerily gloomy, filled with a damp and decaying atmosphere. The ground was covered with a thick layer of fallen leaves, which rustled underfoot, sending chills down one's spine.
What's even more unsettling is the faint fishy smell in the air, the distinctive odor of snakes.
This dense forest turned out to be a snake den!
However, these things meant nothing to Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing.
Since they were snake demons, they were not afraid of the aura of snakes; on the contrary, they felt a sense of familiarity with it.
"Sister, we've arrived," Xiaoqing said softly, her voice echoing with excitement in the quiet forest.
She knew that her sister had carefully selected magical treasures hidden here, each one capable of turning the tide of battle.
Bai Suzhen nodded slightly, her gaze sweeping over her surroundings.
Her eyes were sharp and deep, as if they could pierce through layers of mist and see everything hidden in the darkness.
"Come out, there's no need to hide anymore," Bai Suzhen said calmly. Although her voice wasn't loud, it was full of authority, as if it possessed an irresistible power.
As Bai Suzhen finished speaking, the surrounding trees began to sway, and fallen leaves fluttered and rustled.
A group of snake demons slowly emerged from behind the tall trees.
These snake demons come in various forms. Some are huge, like pythons, covered with thick scales that emit a cold luster; others are small, like little snakes, with agile movements and cunning eyes; still others are half-human, half-snake, with the upper body of a human and the lower body of a snake, looking very strange.
Regardless of their form, these snake demons exuded powerful demonic energy, demonstrating their formidable strength.
Leading the group was a female snake demon dressed in a black robe. Her upper body was human with a charming and beautiful face, but her lower body was that of a snake, with a long snake tail dragging on the ground, making a rustling sound.
Her eyes were sharp and alluring, full of seduction, yet also carrying a hint of respect.
"Little demon Black Lotus greets Lady White and Lady Green!" The leading female snake demon walked up to Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing, and knelt respectfully on the ground. Her voice was so soft and charming that it seemed to be able to bewitch people's souls.
"Get up," Bai Suzhen said with a smile, her gaze not lingering on Hei Lian for long.
"Thank you, Your Majesty!" Hei Lian stood up respectfully, her body trembling slightly as if she were filled with awe for Bai Suzhen.
"Where are the others?" Bai Suzhen asked.
"Your Majesty, all the sisters are here," Hei Lian replied hastily, bowing slightly to show even greater respect.
As Hei Lian finished speaking, the other snake demons also stepped forward and knelt before Bai Suzhen and Xiao Qing, shouting in unison, "Greetings, Lady Bai! Lady Qing!"
The sound resounded throughout the mountains and forests, shaking all directions and demonstrating the high status of Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing in the hearts of these snake demons.
Looking at the group of snake demons of various shapes and sizes in front of her, Bai Suzhen felt a little gratified.
These snake demons were all subdued by her many years ago. Although they were quite powerful, they could only eke out a living in the deep mountains and forests, relying on meager spiritual energy to cultivate.
"You have all been guarding my treasures here all these years, thank you for your hard work," Bai Suzhen said calmly, her voice though indifferent, it made the snake demons incredibly excited.
"It is an honor for us little demons to serve Your Highness!" Black Lotus said hastily, her face full of gratitude.
She knew that Bai Suzhen's ability to remember them was already the greatest blessing she could bestow upon them.
"Have the treasures been damaged?" Bai Suzhen asked. These treasures were of utmost importance to her, and she could not afford any mishaps.
"Please rest assured, Your Majesty, our little demons guard it day and night, and it is nourished by the essence of the sun and moon. The treasure is intact," Black Lotus quickly replied, her tone full of certainty as she assured Bai Suzhen.
"Very good." Bai Suzhen nodded, a hint of satisfaction in her eyes.
"Take me to see it," Bai Suzhen said, eager to see the magical artifact she had prepared for many years.
"Yes, Your Majesty, please!" Hei Lian hurriedly led the way, her body slightly bent, appearing very humble.
Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing followed behind Heilian, heading deeper into the dense forest.
The other snake demons followed closely behind, their movements as synchronized as well-trained soldiers, demonstrating the strict discipline of the snake demon race.
Led by Hei Lian, Bai Suzhen and Xiao Qing crossed through layers of pools and arrived at the foot of a cliff.
The cliff was very steep, almost perpendicular to the ground, and covered with moss, making it very slippery.
"Your Majesty, the treasure is inside this cliff," Hei Lian said, pointing to the cliff. Her voice was very soft, as if she was afraid of disturbing the treasure inside.
Bai Suzhen nodded slightly. She knew that there was a Water Curtain Cave hidden inside the cliff. The cave was so well hidden that only snake demons like them knew about it.
"Open it," Bai Suzhen said calmly.
"Yes, Your Majesty!" Hei Lian responded and quickly walked to the front of the cliff to begin casting her spell.
She formed hand seals and chanted incantations, and a powerful demonic energy surged from her body, flowing into the Water Curtain Cave.
As the Black Lotus's magical power was injected, the cliff began to tremble slightly, and beams of azure light shot out from the cracks in the rocks.
The light grew stronger and brighter, eventually converging into a giant gate of light that appeared before Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing.
The gate of light was circular, like a giant vortex, exuding a mysterious and ancient aura.
Various lights could be faintly seen flashing inside the portal, arousing curiosity and anticipation.
"Your Majesty, this is the entrance to the treasure." Black Lotus said respectfully, a hint of pride on her face, as if she was very proud of being able to open this gate of light.
Bai Suzhen nodded. She knew that this gate of light was a powerful barrier that could only be opened by those with specific bloodlines and magical powers.
Over the years, Black Lotus has been guarding this place day and night, cultivating diligently, which is why she was able to successfully open this gate of light.
"Well done." Bai Suzhen gave a light compliment, which was undoubtedly the greatest affirmation for Hei Lian.
"It is my honor to receive Your Majesty's praise!" Black Lotus said hastily, her body trembling slightly, clearly very excited.
Bai Suzhen strode towards the gate of light.
Xiaoqing followed closely behind, her eyes filled with curiosity and anticipation for the treasure she was about to see.
The moment Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing stepped into the gate of light, they immediately felt a powerful surge of spiritual energy rushing towards them.
The spiritual energy was so dense that it seemed almost tangible, swirling around their bodies as if to envelop them.
The scene before us has also undergone tremendous changes.
The once dark and damp forest has now been transformed into a spacious and bright cave.
The cave ceiling is inlaid with countless luminous pearls, which emit a soft light that illuminates the entire cave.
The cave was surrounded by all sorts of treasures: gold and silver jewelry, antique paintings and calligraphy, elixirs and rare herbs. It was a vast treasure trove with everything imaginable.
These treasures were collected by Bai Suzhen over many years, and each one is priceless, enough to drive countless people crazy.
However, these treasures meant nothing to Bai Suzhen.
What she was truly concerned about were the few treasures hidden deep within the vault.
"The treasures are all inside, Your Highnesses, please follow me." Hei Lian's voice rang out again, pulling Bai Suzhen back from her thoughts.
Bai Suzhen nodded and followed Hei Lian deeper into the treasure vault. Xiao Qing followed closely behind, her eyes darting around with curiosity about the treasures.
In the deepest part of the treasure vault, Bai Suzhen saw what she wanted.
It was an ancient jade box. The jade box was entirely blue, carved with intricate patterns, and emitted a faint spiritual aura.
"This is it," Bai Suzhen murmured to herself, a hint of excitement flashing in her eyes.
She knew that the jade box contained a magical artifact she had carefully selected that would play a significant role in future battles.
"Black Lotus, open it," Bai Suzhen said calmly, her voice carrying an irresistible force.
"Yes, Your Majesty!" Black Lotus hurriedly walked to the jade box and began to cast a spell.
Her movements were so skillful that it seemed she had done it countless times.
As the black lotus's magical power was injected, the jade box began to tremble slightly, and beams of azure light shot out from the cracks in the jade box.
A moment later, the jade box slowly opened, revealing its contents.
It was a shimmering bead and a jade hairpin that was entirely emerald green. The bead had a watery blue surface with layers of light flowing around it, as if it contained endless water elemental power.
The jade hairpin is entirely emerald green and crystal clear, as if it were carved from the finest jadeite, exuding a refreshing aura.
"The Water-Repelling Pearl and the Azure Wave Hairpin!" Xiaoqing exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement. She knew the power of these two magical treasures; with them, their strength would be greatly enhanced.
"Very good." Bai Suzhen finally showed a satisfied smile as she looked at the two magical treasures in front of her.
She knew that with these two magical treasures, she would have a greater chance of dealing with Fahai and protecting her and Xu Xian's happiness.
She gently picked up the water-repelling bead, feeling the powerful water elemental energy contained within it, and her heart was filled with confidence.
With this magical artifact, she could control the power of water, summon wind and rain to flood Jinshan Temple, and let Fahai taste the bitterness of being submerged.
She picked up the jade hairpin again, gently stroking its smooth surface and feeling the powerful demonic energy it contained.
This jade hairpin was forged from her own demonic power after a thousand years of arduous cultivation. It is connected to her mind and can draw upon the waters of rivers, lakes, and seas, possessing boundless power.
With this magical artifact, she could manipulate the river to destroy Jinshan Temple, leaving Fahai nowhere to escape.
"Thank you all for guarding the treasure all these years, making it even more powerful. You have all made invaluable contributions," Bai Suzhen said to Hei Lian and the other snake demons, her voice filled with gratitude.
"It is our honor to serve Your Majesty!" Hei Lian replied hastily, her voice trembling slightly, clearly very excited.
"These pills are a reward for you." Bai Suzhen waved her hand casually, and a pile of elixirs flew out of her hand, emitting an alluring fragrance.
The snake demons immediately showed greedy expressions when they saw the elixirs, but they dared not step forward to compete for them and could only watch longingly.
"Thank you for your reward, Your Majesty!" Black Lotus quickly led the other snake demons to kneel down and respectfully say.
Bai Suzhen nodded, handed the water-repelling pearl to Xiaoqing, and then inserted the jade hairpin into her hair.
"Let's go, we should go to Jinshan Temple to settle accounts with Fahai!" Bai Suzhen said, her voice filled with murderous intent as if it could freeze the entire world.
"Alright!" Xiaoqing nodded, gripping the water-repelling bead tightly in her hand. A powerful aura of demonic energy emanated from her body, indicating that she was ready for battle.
Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing didn't linger. They transformed into two streaks of light and rushed out of the cave, flying towards Jinshan Temple.
With Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing gone, the once bustling cave fell silent again, leaving only Hei Lian and the other snake demons kneeling motionless on the ground.
"Sister Black Lotus, that White Lady is truly terrifying!" a young snake demon said in a trembling voice, her face filled with fear.
“Yes, that Lady White Snake is a thousand-year-old demon with unfathomable strength. We little demons are nothing in front of her.” Another snake demon chimed in, her body trembling slightly.
"Alright, that's enough." Hei Lian frowned and said, "It's already a great honor for us to serve Your Highness. Let's stop complaining."
"Yes, Sister Black Lotus!" The snake demons quickly shut their mouths, not daring to say anything more.
Hei Lian sighed. She knew that her sisters were afraid of Bai Suzhen, but she was not afraid.
She knew that although Bai Suzhen was powerful, she was kind-hearted, and as long as they served her loyally, they would not be in any danger.
"Alright, get up, all of you," Hei Lian said, her voice softening. "We should continue our cultivation as well. Only by constantly improving our strength can we better serve Your Majesty."
"Yes, Sister Black Lotus!" The snake demons quickly stood up and returned to their respective territories to begin their cultivation.
At this moment, Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing had already flown out of the dense forest and were speeding towards Jinshan Temple.
"not good!"
Suddenly, golden light burst forth from Fahai's third eye between his eyebrows!
The golden light was not a gentle Buddhist radiance, but a sharp sword condensed into a tangible substance, instantly piercing the deep night and penetrating hundreds of miles of void.
In an instant, he clearly sensed two powerful demonic energies that shot into the sky, making no attempt to conceal their existence, and filled with rage and resentment!
The direction he was pointing in was none other than Jinshan Temple, where he was stationed and guarding!
"You beast! How dare you do this?!" A thunderclap exploded in Fahai's heart, and an unbelievable rage instantly shattered his calm and composed state of mind.
He never expected that the white snake and the green snake would not take the opportunity to escape or live a life of ignominy, but instead turned their attention to the Buddhist temple with such ferocity!
What audacity! What utter contempt for Buddhism! This is no longer a simple case of demonic possession, but an open declaration of war against Jinshan Temple and all Buddhist communities worldwide!
He had previously been mindful of the delicate gentleman's agreement with Shen Bailian, considering the latter's strength and potential variables, and also wanted to uphold the Buddhist reputation of compassion and salvation. Therefore, he did not immediately kill the two demons at the Xu residence, but only planned to capture them and bring them back to the temple to suppress them with Buddhist teachings, and then deal with them gradually.
Who would have thought that this one wrong decision would give these two wicked beasts the opportunity to turn on them!
Now, the demonic aura is soaring into the sky with overwhelming force, clearly indicating that there is no turning back and no room for maneuver!
"Since Benefactor Shen has promised not to interfere, this is the will of Heaven! This humble monk need not worry any longer today. I will take swift and decisive action to completely subdue this source of chaos! I will not allow them to defile the sacred Buddhist land in the slightest!" Fahai's mind raced, and he understood the urgency of the situation. He no longer hesitated.
boom!
His body suddenly shone with a great Buddhist light, and the golden robe he wore seemed to be infused with life!
Every strand of gold thread burst forth with dazzling light, and the robe fluttered in the wind without any breeze. The Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Dharma protectors embroidered on it seemed to come alive in the Buddha's light, with faint chanting and Zen sounds emanating from it.
A huge golden lotus platform materialized out of thin air beneath his feet, slowly rotating. The twelve petals were layered one on top of the other, each flowing with pure Buddhist power and radiating a warm yet majestic aura.
The lotus platform sank slightly, then carried Fahai's body and transformed into a dazzling golden rainbow that tore through the night sky, speeding towards Jinshan Temple at a speed exceeding that of a meteor!
Where the golden rainbow passed, the night wind howled, all of which were tinged with a faint golden halo, and the damp, cold air seemed to be evaporated and purified by this powerful Buddhist force.
In a short while, Fahai, with the force of wind and thunder, had already arrived above Jinshan Temple.
He stood suspended in mid-air, looking down.
At this late hour, most areas of the temple were dimly lit, except for the Mahavira Hall and the Sutra Repository, where lights still burned, illuminating the temple's ancient and solemn outline.
The wisps of incense smoke mingled with the fragrance of herbs and trees, filling the night air, occasionally punctuated by the long chimes of bells or the gentle tapping of wooden fish drums, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and peace.
Fahai's gaze swept across the area, and he saw devout pilgrims seeking lodging in the side halls, their hands clasped together and whispering prayers for peace. He also saw several monks responsible for farming in the fields behind the temple, probably still preparing their tools for tomorrow's work.
You can even vaguely see a few orphans taken in by the temple, perhaps having a sweet dream, with innocent smiles still on their lips...
These scenes stand in stark contrast to the impending monstrous calamity!
Jinshan Temple is not only a Buddhist temple, but also a sanctuary for countless living beings. We will never allow demons to trample on it!
"Disciples, obey the order!"
Fahai took a deep breath, his tongue crackling like thunder, his voice containing supreme magical power that exploded in the sky above Jinshan Temple like rolling thunder!
The sound was loud, majestic, and penetrating, instantly breaking the tranquility of the temple, as if even the beams and pillars of the hall were trembling slightly!
"Demons have invaded! Return to your positions at once! Activate the mountain-protecting formation—the Vajra Subduing Demon Formation! All chant sutras to bless and repel the invaders!"
In an instant, Jinshan Temple seemed to erupt into chaos!
The bell tower and drum tower simultaneously emitted a rapid and deep sound, the sound of bells and chimes no longer melodious, but resounding through the sky with a warning and a chilling tone!
"Amitabha!", "Obey the law!"
Hundreds of monks throughout the temple sprang to attention upon hearing the sound!
Some of the young novices were engrossed in studying their scriptures when they heard the sound, their faces turning pale and the scrolls falling to the ground with a thud. Others had just finished their evening prayers and were about to rest when they were startled awake by the thunderous sound, their eyes filled with fear and bewilderment. Their cultivation was still shallow, and they had never seen anything like it before.
The middle-aged monks reacted much faster.
Those meditating in the meditation room suddenly opened their eyes, a glint of light flashing in their eyes; those discussing matters in their quarters immediately stood up; and those organizing books in the scripture pavilion quickly put down their work.
Although their expressions were solemn, their years of cultivation had made them more determined, and they quickly rushed toward their respective positions at the array's core.
There were also martial monks who had practiced staff and fist techniques for many years. They were strong and steady, and upon hearing the command, they rushed out of the training ground or monks' quarters. Each of them held a monk's knife, a staff or an iron rod. Their eyes were sharp and their steps were steady. They went straight to the key defensive points on the outer perimeter of the temple to prepare to protect the monks.
The elderly monks with long white beards were the most composed.
They might be sitting with their eyes closed, or fiddling with prayer beads in a quiet room. Upon hearing Fahai's command, they would slowly open their cloudy yet profound eyes, utter a soft Buddhist chant, and then rise shakily, either being helped by their disciples to the main hall or a specific altar. They might not be as powerful as Fahai, but their decades of meditation had hardened their minds to the rock, making them the backbone of stabilizing the formation and concentrating Buddhist power.
The monks, like birds returning to their nests, quickly gathered at their designated positions from all directions of the monastery.
Some sat cross-legged in the square in front of the main hall, some stood on the top of the bell and drum towers, some guarded the main road of the mountain gate, and some sat quietly in the Arhat Hall... Everyone had a solemn expression, put their hands together, and began to chant in unison.
"Om Mani Padme Hum!"
"Namo Ratna Trayaya..." The Great Compassion Mantra begins.
"Thus have I heard. At one time the Buddha was..." the sound of the Diamond Sutra echoed.
At first, the chanting was somewhat chaotic, interspersed with syllables from young monks trembling slightly with fear.
But soon, under the guidance of those highly accomplished and resolute monks, and influenced by the solemn atmosphere that permeated the temple, all the voices gradually converged and merged, transforming into a magnificent, orderly, and powerful torrent of Buddhist chants!
The sound seemed to have a physical form, stirring up the air, dispelling the darkness, purifying people's hearts, and gathering boundless power of faith!
As the chanting grew louder, dazzling golden Buddhist light rose from each monk like golden lotuses emerging from the ground!
The light, whether strong or weak, was always perfectly pure.
These golden lights intertwined and merged rapidly in the air, as if woven from countless golden threads, and finally condensed into a huge, incomparable light shield above the entire Jinshan Temple, resembling an inverted golden bowl!
The light shield is pure gold, with a smooth, mirror-like surface that is also indestructible.
Countless intricate and profound Sanskrit characters flow and fade slowly on it like living things, each character containing the power to subdue demons and monsters.
Deep, solemn Buddhist chants emanated from the light barrier, resonating with the chanting of monks below.
The vast, ocean-like Buddhist power emanated from the light shield, spreading outwards in all directions and firmly protecting the entire Jinshan Temple. The air seemed to become thick and heavy.
From afar, Jinshan Temple at this moment is no longer a temple in the mortal world, but a Buddhist fortress bathed in sacred Buddhist light, ready for battle!
It's as if the Immovable King has opened his angry eyes, preparing to face the impending storm!
Fahai stood proudly at the very top of the golden light shield, his feet planted on the core of the array, feeling the pure Buddhist power from the hundreds of disciples below continuously flowing into the array and empowering him.
He held a purple-gold alms bowl in one hand, the bowl's mouth now slightly tilted, pointing towards the distant horizon, where a faint golden light flowed, as if ready to devour demons at any moment; in his other hand, he held prayer beads and was chanting mantras in a low voice.
The golden robe he wore shone even brighter under the surging Buddhist power, making him appear as majestic and inviolable as a Vajra descended to earth.
His gaze was as sharp as a hawk's, piercing through the heavy darkness and locking onto the two streaks of light in the distant sky that were getting closer and closer, their demonic aura growing more rampant.
He knew this was a tough battle, a bitter struggle concerning the survival of Jinshan Temple, the prestige of Buddhism, and even more so, the righteous path of humanity.
But he showed no fear, his heart filled only with the unwavering belief in vanquishing demons.
Come, you wicked creatures! Let this humble monk see if your thousand years of cultivation can shake the wrath of the Vajra of Buddhism!
However, this tranquility shrouded in Buddha's light is as fragile as morning dew, vanishing in an instant.
The two beams of demonic light rushing through the night sky, one blue and one white, carrying boundless rage and millennia of demonic power, did not test or detour in the slightest. Instead, like two ominous stars falling from the heavens with a sharp whistling sound, they crashed heavily into the huge golden light shield!
"boom--!!!"
An unprecedented, deafening roar, seemingly capable of tearing eardrums and shattering souls, suddenly exploded!
Its sound was far louder than a mountain collapsing, and its force was as fierce as the earth splitting open!
The entire mountain range where Jinshan Temple is located trembled violently. The glazed tiles on the roof of the Mahavira Hall rattled, the ever-burning lamps hanging inside swayed wildly, and the dust accumulated between the beams and pillars fell down as if the temple would collapse at any moment!
The incredibly sturdy golden shield, which combined the devout power of hundreds of monks with Fahai's own profound magical power, was shattered by this attack. Its surface shimmered with golden light, like the surface of a lake where a boulder had been thrown in, and ripples of energy, visible to the naked eye, spread violently and distorted.
Blinding golden sparks even burst from the edge of the light shield, and the entire structure groaned under the strain. The light dimmed by a third in an instant, as if it might collapse at any moment!
"Such...such powerful demonic energy!" A young monk in charge of the outer array's core turned deathly pale. He felt an icy, chilling, and violent aura strike his mind like a heavy hammer, almost suffocating him. His hand holding the prayer beads trembled so badly he could barely hold them. (End of Chapter)
