Chapter 22 Shocking Changes in the Arctic Ocean

Chapter 22 Shocking Changes in the Arctic Ocean

The sky was gradually swallowed up by dark clouds.

The Arctic Ocean. The overwhelming darkness is a harbinger of an approaching storm.

The waves surged, and the resulting gale-force winds stirred up the forces of nature.

On the distant sea, a pod of whales roamed, giving low calls to hunt. Suddenly, a corner of their massive bodies emerged from the deep water, and they caught the flying seabirds off guard with their bites.

The small boat, tossed about by the wind and rain, resembled a leaf beneath the waves. As a massive humpback whale leaped from the sea, a powerful spray of water splattered all over Tony Stark.
This made his face darken.

Okay, from now on, besides the desert, he also hates the ocean.

"Hey, can't you just get a luxury yacht or something? Do you really find this wilderness survival stuff exciting?"

Tony Stark glared at Carrot with a resentful look. This fantastical adventure of Stark's was anything but pleasant; it was nothing but suffering!

The ship was self-propelled, but Carrot El remained at the helm, leaning against the railing amidst countless enormous whales, casually pulling a seabird down from mid-air and glancing at the sky:
"There are no luxury cruise ships in the Arctic, only Inuit igloos and raw seal meat all year round."

"So what are you doing in this godforsaken place??"

"Want to try some raw seal meat?"

If "life is meaningless" could describe Tony Stark's current state of mind, that would be a wonderful thing, because he truly wants to die.

"How about I let you eat raw seal meat for a few months?"

The sky was covered with dark clouds, and the sound of deafening thunder could be faintly heard.

Carrot, regretting bringing this burden along, glared at him irritably:
"Enough with the nonsense, you'll understand when you get there."

During those few days of training, this guy's entire body was worn out, but his mouth was the only thing that even Piccolo couldn't tear apart; it was smelly and boastful.

“A storm is coming at sea. There’s a fishing boat ahead that looks pretty big. Send out a distress signal and we should be able to get aboard and take shelter from the rain.”

Tony Stark stood up and looked ahead. Apart from the whales that surfaced, triggering thalassophobia, there was nothing at the end of his line of sight.

"Where's the boat?? I haven't seen anything!"

"I said yes."

As soon as the words were spoken, the rolling waves stretched along the coastline where the thick, dark clouds formed a continuous line, drifting to the other side where the waves were churning.

As a distress signal was sent, a huge fishing boat slowly sailed through the fishing area on the eve of the storm.

"This is the Coast Guard vessel 1123. We just received a distress signal and have recorded the sea area coordinates. We need to lower the cage and clear the items from the deck before the storm."

The deck area wasn't very large, and it felt even more crowded as the sailors bustled around.

Fishermen who drift on the sea have long been accustomed to the salty and humid air.

The sailors methodically stuffed the bait into the net cages and cast them into the sea. Even on the eve of an approaching storm, they did not panic.

It's clear that these are all experienced veterans.

Captain Walid Jassem patrolled the deck, inspecting the fishing nets and cages, wrapped in thick work clothes.

As the massive fishing boat drew near, Tony Stark's understanding of Carrot was once again redefined.

They only came to their senses when Walid Jassem threw down the ladder, allowing Carrot and Tony to climb up.

The sailors secured the rather exquisite, but ridiculously small, two-person boat to the stern of the ship with ropes.

"Thank you very much for your rescue, Captain." Carrot shook hands with the captain. The burly man with a thick beard in front of him was probably in his early 50s and weighed about 160 pounds. His already imposing figure looked even more bulky because he was wrapped in thick sailor's work clothes.

Even so, Carrot showed no sign of hindrance or discomfort in his movements, clearly indicating he was an experienced sailor.

"You've got some nerve, boy. Are you here on vacation, young master?"

"You should learn to have awe for the sea."

With a final warning, Walid Jassem whispered in Carrot's ear, his scrutinizing gaze sweeping over the two of them.

He thought he was rescuing a fisherman stranded at sea, but it turned out to be a fair-skinned young master. As for the other person, he looked a bit disheveled; perhaps he was his butler.

"This can be deadly; storms at sea can last for months without dissipating."

Carrot El smiled. He saw only reproach in the captain's eyes, not disgust, and naturally didn't take his words to heart.
“I know, but I have a reason to come; I’m here to find my relatives.”

Walid Jassem paused in surprise.

You've come to this vast ocean to search for your relatives?

Are you kidding me?
You city folks are really good at lying. Is your mother some kind of legendary Atlantean?
Old Captain Walid shook his head helplessly, not believing his words:
"Hurry up and hide in the cabin. If you get seasick, grab a plastic bag and secure yourself."

"Hopefully the storm won't be too big, so you can still have a bowl of hot fish soup in your cabin."

Upon hearing that there was fish soup, Carrot Elton nodded and smiled:
"Thank you so much."

The next second, led by a sailor, Carrot and Tony squeezed into the narrow cabin passageway, where they were taken in and directed to the sailors' resting area.

"Boss, come quick, something's wrong!"

Suddenly, a sailor who had just been taken down from the cage and was tidying up the ropes shouted at Walid Jassem with a grim expression.

"What's wrong? What happened?"

Walid Jassem rushed over to check, and the man pointed to the enormous creature in the distance. Following his gaze, the humpback whales, which had been hunting seabirds, all stopped and dived into the water.

Before long, the giant waves that were leaping out of the water could be seen in the distance.

The seabirds scattered in an instant, fleeing in panic and creating chaos on the sea.

Seeing this, Walid Jassam patted the sailor on the shoulder, his initial tension easing considerably, but his tone of reprimand was extremely stern:

"Are you new here, kid?"

"What's so surprising? Whales and seabirds have a natural instinct to avoid storms."

"You're no newbie, Captain!"

As the son of an old tower keeper and a fisherman, Arthur Curry's fierce face was somewhat unpleasant. He had belonged to the sea since childhood and hated being called a novice.

However, he could not say for sure that the flight of these whales and seabirds was not caused by the storm.

He has a little secret: he possesses special abilities.

For example, he can talk to fish.

I've caught a cold, I hope I get better soon.
