In 1992, a small village owner became the richest man in the village by owning a car.
Chapter 439 The Smile Vanishing Technique
Chapter 439 The Smile Vanishing Technique
There are currently three types of excavators, and a fourth type will be added in a few years.
The first three are small excavators under 15 tons. Currently, the mainstream models are generally between 5 and 8 tons, mainly used for digging ditches, excavating pits, factory construction, and other delicate operations.
Yu Dawei's assembled, off-brand mini excavator is a type of small excavator, the same one that Manzi used to dig holes.
Excavators weighing between 15 and 35 tons are called medium-sized excavators. This type of excavator is currently the most widely used in the market and can be used in almost all working conditions, including municipal management, earthmoving, road maintenance, mining, and wasteland.
In his previous life, Yu Dawei repaired mostly these medium-sized excavators. Although theoretically they are over 15 tons, generally, any excavator that can reach 10 tons or more can be called a medium-sized excavator.
Yu Dawei's old Hitachi was one, as was the blue Kobelco excavator that Brother Duan later sold.
It's worth mentioning that later, after he sold the excavator, he returned all the capital to Zhang Baiwan and actually made a profit.
It can only be said that there are more and more places in the market that need excavators.
Finally, there are large excavators weighing over thirty tons. These excavators are more common in mines and rarely seen elsewhere. Moreover, these large excavators consume more than twice the fuel of medium-sized excavators during use.
A true behemoth.
Ordinary small business owners simply cannot afford to maintain such a monster, and its market value is not very high. Apart from a few people with special needs who require such large excavators, it is rare to see small businesses buying such large machines.
Yu Dawei really likes medium-sized excavators, just like most car owners.
Medium-sized excavators can handle all kinds of terrain very well, from mountains and jungles to deserts and construction sites. You can see them almost anywhere there is a project.
With high market demand and many buyers, it naturally attracts many car maintenance business owners.
In fact, a fourth type will emerge in the future: mini excavators.
These excavators are generally under five tons, with typical models ranging from one to 1.8 tons. The uses of these mini excavators are more detailed than the current classifications.
For example, the emergence of excavators has greatly facilitated more detailed work needs, such as interior decoration of large buildings, sewage discharge rectification, greenhouses, orchards, farmland, etc.
Therefore, Yu Dawei understood why Lao Tian abandoned the medium-sized excavator next to him and replaced it with a small excavator.
Because small excavators are much more convenient to use in agriculture than the large ones next to them.
Moreover, the bucket capacity of the two sizes is actually not much different; the only difference is the working time and efficiency.
"Brother Tian, can we test drive now?" Yu Dawei turned his gaze back to Old Tian beside him.
"I can, but I don't have any oil." Old Tian smiled awkwardly, turning to look at his usual small excavator next to him. "How about we pump some oil out from here for that one?"
As Lao Tian spoke, he felt a little uneasy. The old, rusty car next to him hadn't been moved for two years, and it was uncertain whether it could even be started.
If it really can't start, the price will have to be drastically reduced.
The value of something that can be lit is worlds apart from something that can't be lit; even a fool knows that.
Judging from the other party's expression, Yu Dawei could roughly guess what the other party was worried about. However, this was a good thing for him. After all, the worse the Case excavator was, the lower the price would be, which was a good thing.
"Oil extraction is fine, but do you have the equipment for it?" Yu Dawei asked again.
"Yes, yes, yes." After giving an affirmative answer, Lao Tian led the people across the tall grass to the entrance of a warehouse. "This is a new oil extractor that we bought a few days ago. We haven't used it much, but it will come in handy today."
Old Tian opened the door and took out a red-handled oil pump from the corner against the wall.
The oil extractor is made entirely of metal tubing, with a hand-cranked oil pump at the head and a long plastic hose at the oil outlet. Inside the hose is a thin spring of the same length.
Oil presses were already quite common in this era. Many rural children would buy them in bulk at small shops. The curvaceous shop owner used one of these presses to extract golden soybean oil.
Its structure is also very simple: a retractable metal inlet pipe, an oil pump, an outlet pipe, and a stretchable hose, which is basically enough to pump oil.
When the group left the warehouse, Yu Dawei also took a relatively clean iron bucket with him.
There needs to be a container to hold the diesel fuel pumped out by the small excavator. Lao Tian stood on top of the fuel tank, and Yu Dawei stood below.
Yu Dawei first directed the other party to pull out a small portion, and then took a rag from the excavator cab next to him and used a small amount of diesel fuel to clean the inside of the iron drum, ensuring it was completely clean before letting Lao Tian continue pumping. Lao Tian, watching from above, was filled with admiration and shock. "See that?" he thought. "This is what a true professional looks like."
To be able to do something as simple as extracting oil so meticulously, you absolutely have to cultivate a good relationship with this person.
As Lao Tian pondered this, he repeatedly extracted the oil.
When Yu Dawei saw that the iron drum was almost full, he called a halt. Then, the same action was repeated, with someone standing on the Case excavator to pump the oil out from the other side.
Reversing the oil pump is equivalent to pumping the diesel fuel from the iron drum back into the fuel tank. Yu Dawei did this to train the two little brats next to him.
So they let Agui climb up to pump the oil, while Duan Xiaowu held the hose below.
Soon all the diesel fuel in the iron drum was pumped into the fuel tank of the Case excavator. There was still a little bit left at the bottom of the iron drum, but it was too much to pump out, so it was fine.
Next came the exciting moment of ignition. Yu Dawei and Lao Tian stood side by side, both looking somewhat apprehensive.
After all, one is selling cars and the other is selling cars; ultimately, they're both looking at profits.
"Brother Tian, would you like to light a fire?" Yu Dawei turned his head and looked at him with a smile.
"You're a mechanic, so you must be a great driver too. You come on, you come on." Old Tian was very modest, but in reality, he was unsure and somewhat reluctant to uncover the truth himself.
Yu Dawei didn't want to go either. If the fire got out, he would feel terrible. Putting aside everything else, if the fire started, he would definitely lose three to five thousand yuan.
If the car can be started, it means that the major components are fine, and if the core components are okay, the value will naturally not be low.
However, seeing that the other party really had no intention of lighting the fire himself, Yu Dawei then looked at A-Gui: "A-Gui, you go. Be careful, don't break the key by accident."
When Yu Dawei saw the equally rusty key that Lao Tian handed over, his heart skipped a beat. Good heavens! This is not much different from the "scrap metal excavator" he sold in Kyoto.
"Puff puff... puff puff..."
Inside the driver's cab, A-Gui turned the key valve, but after only two turns, the engine behind him didn't move at all, just like an old ox lying on the ground, no matter what you say to it, it won't get up.
Old Tian's face was rather grim on the ground. Although he knew the car was pretty useless, he didn't expect it to be so poorly given. Selling it was definitely the right decision.
Yu Dawei, standing next to him, had a faint smile on his lips, but he quickly suppressed it, knowing he was on someone else's turf.
"Puff puff... puff puff puff!"
Inside the driver's seat, A-Gui was still trying when, on the fourth turn of the key, the engine behind him suddenly felt a long-awaited call!
The engine oil flowing inside the machine began to spread wildly throughout the entire engine. The old core components all over the body, like an ancient tribe that had been resurrected, were growling and resentful!
Finally, they successfully revived the long-dormant excavator.
Seeing that there was a risk of fire, Ah Gui did not hesitate and kept turning the throttle to make the machine run quickly!
In terms of technique, A-Gui's operation was incredibly smooth; anyone else would have broken down the excavator long ago.
Yu Dawei, who had initially felt a bit smug, instantly drooped his lips as the loud "putt-putt" sound rang out.
On the contrary, Lao Tian couldn't help but smile, and as the sound of the excavator idling grew louder, his two rows of teeth were exposed as he enjoyed the long-awaited summer sunshine.
"Boss Yu, this car is a bit old, but it hasn't done any heavy work for me, just digging holes and stuff. Look, it's been sitting here for over two years, and it's still working." Old Tian knew he couldn't miss this opportunity; if he didn't take the chance to praise it to the skies, how would he raise the price later?
Yu Dawei nodded awkwardly, sighing inwardly. He should have let Duan Xiaowu go up; that kid Agui was technically skilled and would have been a piece of cake to start the car.
I was really careless this time.
Just as Dawei was lost in thought, suddenly, Old Case, who had been roaring wildly, put out the fire. Not only that, but before extinguishing the fire, he also made two "thump" sounds!
Right after, two big, round black eye rings flew out from the exhaust pipe above the engine!
The scene became awkward once again. On the quiet grass, Yu Dawei and Lao Tian just stared blankly at the smoke rings coming out of the exhaust pipe.
The smiles between the two people naturally didn't disappear; they simply shifted from one person's face to the other's.
For Dawei, while the repair costs would increase if a major item broke, he could save a lot of money right now, perhaps enough to cover the cost of two major items.
"Master! This car won't start!" Ah Gui, covered in sweat, stuck his head out of the window.
There was no cooling fan in the cab of this Case excavator. Ah Gui only stayed in it for a short while, and with the sun blazing down, the entire cab felt like a sauna.
If it weren't for the side window, where the glass below the driver's cab is gone, A-Gui would probably be soaked to the bone right now.
