Chapter 74, Section 1.5: The Truth
Shu Ming looked down at the doorknob that had been snapped in half. The person who made the move was swift and decisive, without the slightest hesitation.

The furnishings in the room had not been moved; the books and documents were still in their original places, only the puzzle box that had been on the desk had disappeared.

Is it for the puzzle box?
Shu Ming bent down slightly and picked up the Virginia cipher table that had fallen to the ground. It was an item he had found at the previous crime scene, and it was because of this that he had suspected the victim's friend from the previous case until now.

The bathroom door was wide open, indicating that the child who should have been taking a bath was not there, and he had to take her home alone. Therefore, the person who broke the lock must have been this child.

There were still water stains on the ground, which hadn't completely dried, indicating that the person was probably still there.

There's almost nowhere to hide in the study; the only place is behind the desk.

Shu Ming stepped forward and pulled out a chair without hesitation, bending down slightly.

Mu Yegui was in the corner under the desk, holding an open black box. Hearing footsteps getting closer, he touched a small basket, which seemed to contain something.

The feet stopped right in front of her, and Mu Yegui casually grabbed something from the basket and threw it at Shu Ming's face.

Pale pink petals drifted down, like the wind brushing the flower spikes against his face; some landed on the ground, while others lingered on Shu Ming's stray hairs.

Shu Ming was slightly taken aback. He looked at the child in front of him, who was only about ten years old, and remained silent. The curve of his lips gradually faded, and his eyes were still slightly narrowed but without any smile.

Mu Yegui looked down at the pink petals still clinging to her hand. She thought they might be something else, but they were just petals. Why would Shu Ming hide these petals under his desk?

"What are you doing?" Shu Ming squinted and chuckled, his tone gentle but with a hint of danger in it.

"Sprinkle flowers." Mu Yegui lowered her head and said softly in a sweet, childlike voice, like a child caught causing trouble.

"You really dare to venture into any place." Shu Ming muttered helplessly, taking a few steps back to signal Mu Yegui to climb out.

Mu Yegui, who had returned to the appearance of a ten-year-old, was only up to Shu Ming's thigh, not even reaching his waist. He was really short. However, Shu Ming was 193cm tall, which would be considered a model's figure anywhere, and he didn't look like a police officer at all.

"Mr. Shu Ming, why is this black box with you?" Mu Yegui did not answer, but simply shifted his body to hide the black box behind his back even more tightly.

Shu Ming squinted and chuckled, his meaning ambiguous, "Now can you explain your background? If you have a good reason, I'll tell you the truth."

“My arrival in the Kingdom of Truth was accidental; my purpose was simply to attend the wealthy merchant’s exhibition. I can offer you a trustworthy bargaining chip: I know the first Crown Prince, Satan, and we are friends.” Mu Yegui took out a [Dragon Head Coin] from his pocket and showed it to Shu Ming in his palm.

Animal currency is a metal coin exclusive to the Fairy Tale Kingdom. Copper coins are called "Rabbit Head Coins," silver coins are called "Eagle Head Coins," and gold coins are called "Dragon Head Coins." The reverse side of each coin features the Fairy Tale Kingdom's emblem, while the gold coin's symbol is a golden dragon of the lizard family standing on a cliff edge, attempting to spread its wings and fly.

"If I'm not mistaken, the current currency is at most copper coins, and silver coins are already considered rare. So the gold coins I have should prove the truth of my words, right?" Mu Yegui knew something: no matter what dungeon you are in, you can only get copper coins at most. Silver coins can only be obtained by completing the tavern missions that were opened some time ago. And there is currently no way to obtain gold coins except for the Crown Prince.

Gold coins are the crown prince's weekly allowance. Therefore, her ability to produce the "Dragon Head Coin," the exclusive currency of the Fairy Tale Kingdom, fully proves the truthfulness of her words.

“I made a deal with Detective Flavro. I got this puzzle box from him the night before the incident.” Shu Ming’s tone softened as he spoke with a light laugh.

Mu Yegui was slightly taken aback. Her guess was indeed correct, but the details seemed to be a little different.

"Can you give me back the mechanism box now?" Shu Ming asked.

"It probably won't work. I opened it by accident," Mu Yegui said in a low voice, stuffing the hidden mechanism box from his back into Shu Ming's palm.

A gem as deep as the ocean, radiating starlight, floats above the mechanism box, flaunting its beauty.

"Just as I thought..." Shu Ming frowned slightly and murmured.

"Hmm?" It seemed that Shu Ming was not surprised by what was inside.

"Does Mr. Shu Ming know what this is?" Mu Yegui asked.

"This gem is the one that the wealthy businessman wanted to exhibit at the exhibition, touted as the rarest gem in the world, called the 'Eye of Mammon,' symbolizing wealth and endless treasures. It was initially discovered in the home of the victim in the previous case. That victim was a friend of the wealthy businessman. The Virginia cipher table and the cipher box were together. It was this cipher table that made me suspect the victim's death in the previous case was related to the wealthy businessman, and that's why I'm still investigating him. Originally, my collaboration with Detective Flaro was to lure the wealthy businessman out and make him reveal a weakness, but I didn't expect him to act first."

Shu Ming put on gloves and gently took the gemstone off and placed it on the velvet cushion.

"I had prepared another prop, but your appearance disrupted my plans and made me suspect that you are involved. Perhaps you received a commission from a wealthy businessman to take away that crucial prop."

"Can we still accept commissions?" Mu Yegui was slightly taken aback. This meant that players could play the game as NPCs.

“That’s true, it’s common in the Kingdom of Truth, which is why I’m suspicious of you and even want to take action against you. But then I thought you didn’t need to listen to the rich businessman. There’s someone more suspicious than you.” In Shu Ming’s eyes, Shui Qi was more suspicious than anyone else. The so-called cooperation was nothing more than keeping people under his nose for surveillance. He still had to be suspicious.

“I can now confirm that the person who targeted Detective Flaro must be a player who has dealings with wealthy businessmen. The prime suspect is Shui Qi. Although he is Detective Flaro’s apprentice, he is someone who would sacrifice anything for profit.” From their first conversation, Shu Ming knew this person’s true nature, so he refused Shui Qi’s invitation without hesitation.

"If these are real gems, then what gems does the wealthy merchant want to exhibit?" Mu Yegui asked, looking down at the beautiful gems on the velvet cushion.

"It's a scam, a lie from beginning to end, but no one knows the specific reason except the wealthy businessman himself." The dungeons in the Kingdom of Truth all have a lingering connection element. If you discover hidden content from previous dungeons in other dungeons after completing one, you can get extra points.

In the Kingdom of Truth, you can choose professions such as police officer, detective, and lawyer. Upgrading a profession requires points, which are obtained through dungeons. Furthermore, all these professions offer a guaranteed minimum wage.

This is a unique mode specific to the Kingdom of Truth, and can only be obtained by players with a Kingdom of Truth Resident Certificate. This certificate doesn't restrict whether it's temporary or permanent, but the permanent certificate offers higher benefits and salary.
